Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CornflakeKid · 14/11/2006 11:32

Just spent ages writing message on other one!! Well done CD!

I'm more like a slug than a galloping horse! But am really looking forward to christmas - very exciting!

Bramshott · 14/11/2006 11:36

Ooh CFK - I'm that morning as well: 27 Nov at 10.20. I'll be thinking of you!

Well done for new thread CD, now GO AND HAVE THAT MOCHA OR YOU WILL RUN OUT OF TIME!!!

CornflakeKid · 14/11/2006 11:42

Very exiting Bramshott - good luck to you too xxx

Bugmum · 14/11/2006 11:44

Cornflake - your scan is the 27th May??? Won't the baby be a tad overcooked by then?

Just sending those who need it quick hugs on the way to work (((())))

Sexonlegs · 14/11/2006 11:48

Ladies, I cannot keep up with you all!
Sorry to those who are feeling blue. It is such a mixed bag of emotions time isn't it? I remember feeling like this with dd - I felt I was losing my youth to to speak and started listening to loud house music!
Anyway, at work at the mo, as TalkTalk are being completely uselss (we have not been able to access internet at home for 2 days). So, had better get on with it. See you all later.
Good luck with any scans. Mine isn't until the 12th December as I am so far behind you all - I think me and GMM are about the last 2!
Big hugs. xx

runnyhabbit · 14/11/2006 11:57

GMM - know exactly where you're coming from. First time round, dh was sooo attentive, but did resent how much attention that I got. Not that that excuses any nastiness. He's not been the least bit excited about this pregnancy, until we went for the first scan. Up until then, it was sarcastic comments like "you're pregnant, not ill" or "how can you be so tired when you only work part time". After the scan, and when he saw I couldn't get into normal clothes, he turned a corner, iyswim.

While I'm at your dp comments, and there is certainly no need for him to go off like that, I'm wondering if he's a little scared of the prospect of becoming a dad? Most men I know would rather have an argument than talk about their feelings! It took dh a while to admit it to me with ds, and we had a really long deep talk about becoming parents.

Lots of (((hugs))) to you
x

runnyhabbit · 14/11/2006 12:00

agree with you CFK - don't know about the galloping, but think I'm starting to waddle

geordiemacminx · 14/11/2006 12:05

Thanks for being so kind... think we have just about got it sorted out now..

Runnyhabit.. he already has 2 children from his first marriage, although his 15 year old daughter isnt speaking to him at the moment, because of the baby, I think thats probabaly affecting him more than I realise, although he just wouldnt talk to me about it.. thats men though, and thats certainly my dp!!!

runnyhabbit · 14/11/2006 12:11

sorry GMM, didn't realise he had other children. In theory he should know better, but I think you've hit the nail on the head about his daughter

Greengirlforever · 14/11/2006 12:21

Hello to new thread!

Well boss is away, I've spent the morning surfing and I want:
Amby natures nest baby hammock
Stokke Xplory pushchair
Cozy cocoon swaddling cocoon.
I think that comes to over £1000 in total.... I may definitely go for the hammock though, you can get them on ebay as well and they sound completely amazing. After the hell we went through with DS2 it would be worth every penny, specially as I'm not getting any younger and this will be my last one.

Pesha & Doghouse - I'm not enjoying being pg this time one little bit. I think I only enjoyed my first and that was probably because of the novelty! I am huge - considerably more than a beached whale GMM! - and spotty and tired and irritable and feel sooooo unattractive. Even my cheekbones appear to have left me !

GMM, my DH is also being a bit crap. This morning I was just having a little pgcy moan on the above lines and he said "anyone would think you don't even want this baby" - OUT OF ORDER!!! - Disliking being pgnt is not the same thing as not wanting the baby!!!!

MIAM - I have bought my first thing for this baby! During my surfing I came across this lovely little comfort blanket with little tags for the baby to play with for £10 so I went for it!

CornflakeKid · 14/11/2006 13:15

doh! DS2 birthday 27 May! Scan 27 Nov!

Off to search GGF list...

CornflakeKid · 14/11/2006 13:17

baby hammock looks very cute - but would fear for babys life with my boys around it!

Harimad · 14/11/2006 13:32

Ahhh... just settling into a nice new thread...

Sexonlegs - my scan isn't until 13th Dec... am I the very last then?? Poop.

GMM - ah, yes that does explain things a bit - I bet he's feeling a bit guilty about upsetting his daughter and taking it out on you in the logical way that men's minds work...

Oooh! GFF - I'm very taken with the Amby nest too! It would be particularly good as you then don't need a travel cot of any kind, as you can just take the hammock with you! Wonder what it's like when you come to transfer the baby out into a cot tho'...

Sexonlegs · 14/11/2006 13:39

With you re dh not being as attentive this time around. Last time round, I was barely allowed to lift a finger, but now it is a totally different ball game. I sometimes think he thinks I am making it all up! He really has not been particularly supportive and seems to think that "oh you have been here before".
He seems to have become almost lazy.
Men eh!

Greengirlforever · 14/11/2006 13:53

SoL - with you on the DH "seen it all before" theory. Not bloody fair though - I'm older and crankier than I was last pgcy and need lots of tlc!

As for Amby nest - Harimad & CFK - The nest will live in our room next to our bed probably. DS2 will learn not to knock into it or else... He will be nearly 4 by then and is already surprisingly sensible! I actually fear more from clumsy DS1 (age 14 on Sat!). In fact I already have a bedside/standalone cot (which won't fit in our current bedroom anyway) but I can move her into that once she outgrows the nest - I'm thinking I should get at least 6 to 8 months from the nest considering that my babies tend to be big. Although it's going to be a squash whatever as she'll have to share with DS2 unless we win the lottery...

Sexonlegs · 14/11/2006 14:02

GGF, snap! I am older and tireder (is that a word??!!)
So, you are having a pink bean! I am sure you have told us that before, but had just forgotten.
x

doobydoo · 14/11/2006 14:11

Hello all...just trying to catch up but brain like a sieve.
Congrats on positive scans and boo to dp's and dh's being piggy.I would like them to just have a week of heartburn, spd, weeing constatnly and worrying generally about if we can feel beans move or not
Who posted on the other thread that they have a camper??Please coud you tell me if it is expensive to run.I have wanted one for aes but dp mutters about economy etc so i would be realy interested.Thankyou in advance.
My scan is Dec 8th.I reckon i will be 22 ish weeks then. And we are going to find out the flavour. This spd is sodding painful.I am galloping in my head but limping in reality
Is anyone else going to have a glass of wine or 2 at Christmas?
I haven't smoked or had a drink for yonks.
Hope you are all ok.

Sexonlegs · 14/11/2006 14:16

Doobydoo, had my first glass of wine on Friday night since becoming pg - it was the first time I could stomach it. It was lovely!
Good to see you.

Greengirlforever · 14/11/2006 14:30

SoL - My CVS test said pink - however will be double checking for extra bits on next Monday's scan just to be sure!

Doobydoo - well done on the smoking and none of that at Christmas! However, if you ask me, a glass of wine or 2 is positively beneficial. I am probably having one glass of wine a week at the moment (never was a big wine drinker) but am missing my vodka !

Harimad · 14/11/2006 14:34

Hey doobydo,

'twas I that admitted to having a camper! We probably get about 180 miles on a tank of petrol and it costs us about 50 quid to fill up.

We really don't use it that often as we both get the train to work, so for us it's very economical as it means our hols are very cheap!

An 80s van like ours costs anywhere from 500quid to 8k - depending on condition, but since they're VW's they're fairly simple mechanically and any problems tend to be inexpensive ones!

Hope that helps?

Re: drinks - I've been having the occasional glass of wine throughout my pregnancy. My midwife very strongly impressed on me that it WAS OKAY TO DO THIS! I guess she had heard of the furore after the Trevor MacDonald show...

Sexonlegs · 14/11/2006 14:41

I think cars differ. Friends of ours have a VW camper - probably older than Harimad's, but they have spent a fortune on it, and it still isn't v reliable. It was like someone else saying they had a problem with a particular make/model of car, whilst someone else has had no problems with theirs. Sorry, not v helpful.

Bramshott · 14/11/2006 14:44

I'm sure I've read somewhere about a couple of units, a couple of times a week being fine. That's roughly what I'm having - or maybe three times a week as DH tends to drink Fri, Sat & Sun, and I'll usually have a glass of whatever he's having. I also decided that steak and stilton pie had to be okay as the stilton gets boiled, and the bean and I are still here to tell the tale! Ditto licking fingers with raw egg cake mixture when making Christmas cake - how could I not?!?

liath · 14/11/2006 14:59

Hurray, a new thread ! And how on earth did we manage 23 posts already - can we chat or what?

Dd has just conked out on my lap so peace reigns here. Fingers firmly crossed but I seem to have cracked her early morning wakening habit. Pity my bladder gets me up still.....

Funny about the whole enjoying pregnancy thing, I have been thinking about it recently as I'm really enjoying it this time but didn't like it at all first time around. One reason I think is that I found the rapid change in body shape & the fact that I was so hungry all the time really difficult to deal with. I was scared of putting on loads of weight and then not being able to lose it. If I'm honest I think I have "slight" body image "issues" and normally am pretty strict with what I eat etc. This time around I know what to expect & am a lot more laid back. I was the same weight booking this time as last so obviously don't need to get my knickeres knotted plus I am so much more comfortable with my figure since I gave birth anyway. Sorry to ramble!!! I don't think men really appreciate how vulnerable pregnancy makes us feel about our figures, sexuality etc so "beached whale" comments are well out of order IMO!

My scan's on the 27th too - that's 3 of us now? My midwives came round yesterday to do the paperwork for the homebirth and check the house was suitable! Seemed odd talking about the delivery now, it still seems a long way off!

Tili · 14/11/2006 16:10

hello all
hope we are all ok and those with dp/dh woes get a resolution soon.

I thought I was turning a corner regarding ms but this morning have woken up with flu there are places on my body aching that I didnt know exsisted I really hope it passes soon.

To those who mentioned having greasy hair, spotty skin etc I am exactly the same I feel I have regressed back to puberty but aquired jordans boobs!! I didnt bloom during my first pregnancy and this one is much worse so im not holding out any hope

When I had my midwife app 2 weeks ago she said that when you have a second pregnancy you tend to feel every little twinge and ache and apparently have quite bad pains after birth this time round .Is that true ? hoping not.

Anyway gonna go have a quick lie down before start dinner take care all and hi to all new posters!!

17 wks today next scan 30 nov !!

1becomes3 · 14/11/2006 16:29

Hi, Poor DD has been in a terrible state today, I think she is teeting. Although she is 18 months she only has 8 teeth, 4 at the front and 4 at the back. I shoved my finger in her mouth today and it seems that every other tooth she is supposed to have has decided to make an apperance, so I have packed her off to bed for a nap full of calpol.
Peace
GMM- at your DP.
have forgetten everything else I have read in the last 5 mins so hugs to everyone else.
Anyone else having memory loss?
My brain is like a sive at the moment, it's terrible, took me 3 days to remember why I brought baking soda.

As to the alcohol consumption, I haven't had any yet but when the babies start kicking when it's time for them to be asleep at night a glass of wine is a good way to "relax" them.
I didn't just say that. (Oh i am a terrible mother!)
