Only just realise that pesha's post re b-day was from yesterday which means happy birthday pesha!

(not like I read GGF's post and that's why I realised)

mammyjo · 15/11/2006 11:58

Morning everyone! Happy birthday pesha!!

Tili, hope you are feeling a little bit better. I have a horrible cold too and am struggling with it. Spoke to the midwife who recommended blackcurrant and honey which I have duly gone and bought. Other than that its tough luck really isnt it and colds can make you feel so crabby at the best of times.

Maveta, I have to say that personally this pregnancy is flying by me. I think its because its my second and so this time round I already have so much to occupy my time with. I feel guilty at times to be honest that I dont pay so much attention to this bean. First time round it was all I could think about!

Runny, really pleased your scan went well. Maybe it was the same lady, she was fab with me and dh. Hope your mood brightens a bit as the day goes on ((((((HUGS))))))

Have a good day everyone, I am going back to my tissues and blackcurrant and honey!

liath · 15/11/2006 11:59

Happy Birthday Pesha, hope it's a good day.

I'd agree re the voltarol suppositories too, they rock - and believe me you won't give a toss whether they shove them up your bum once you've given birth !

Feeling a wee bit blue today, too not helped by grey skies and tipping rain. Am off to visit a friend this afternoon who's recently had number 2 baby so I baked a cake yesterday. ONly now it seems to be only half a cake.....wonder how that happened . Oops.

runnyhabbit · 15/11/2006 12:18

Hi everyone

Thank you for all your support. Feeling much better now I feel so much more reassured that I'm not the only one feeling like this. Being taken out by my mum for some lunch today, bless her. Definatley going to get some window shopping in this afternoon.

Btw, Tesco have got some longline jumpers, with a little belt thing. They're not maternity, but at £15 a go (and variety of colours and styles) I'm sure that they could at least see us through the colder months. And if you sign up to their clothing website, you get vouchers. You won't get a load of rubbish coming through the post, only decent money off vouchers. I cannot abide any kind of junk mail, or sales calls etc, but this one only seems to send you stuff you'll actually use! heres the link tescoclothes

runnyhabbit · 15/11/2006 12:18

nearly forgot

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PESHA

CornflakeKid · 15/11/2006 12:55

Lulasapphire has 15% off at the moment - just type in Prima Baby at the checkout

I have bought (bugger the shopping ban!)

green nappy pants
green apple print wrap over top
bottom butter
baby massage oil
1 pack moltex mini for hosp/first days
2 bib and burp sets

I already have 2 swaddle blankets from them which got at Baby Show!

Must go do some housework to keep it under control...arrrrgggghhhh

maveta · 15/11/2006 12:59

Yes, belated happy birthday Pesha!

I've not been feeling TOO hormonal lately, I am completely convinced that I am in the right when dh has annoyed me
So envious of all of you having scans already, feels like ages, and it is almost a MONTH away, and I can't wait to see the babby again. Last scan he didn't move a jot so am hoping it will be a little more reassuring this time! But really it is lovely to hear everyone else's stories as a second best to seeing my own, myself
Liath, the nappy search continues and it seems the more information you find, the more confusing it is. But I am determined to do it! If I don't mention real nappies again after the birth, let's just forget I said that, k?
1b3 if you are due 24/04 you are one day ahead of me which should make you 17+2?
I can totally understand 2nd or 3rd pregnancies going faster having other little ones to run around after, at the moment I feel like I am spending most of my time finding things to do and loafing on the sofa watching tv. Should try to enjoy it while we can, hey Harimad??!
Have any other first timers started buying baby things yet? I freaked out when I read some 'things you need for baby' lists and even not counting any extra things, even the basics add up. Am thinking we need to start buying a small amount each month so we don't have a heart attack when we do it all in one go. gulp.

maveta · 15/11/2006 13:00

Well that answered one of my questions, Cornflake Kid!!

Tili · 15/11/2006 13:08

1b3 you have the same due date as me which makes you 17+1.

Tili · 15/11/2006 13:12

mammyjo hope you feel better soon may try the blackcurrant and honey tomorrow when I can get to the shops. as I hate the lemon in my tea but it is slowly helping.

take carexx

geordiemacminx · 15/11/2006 13:15

Happy Birthday Pesha - hope you have a lovely day!!

Its really miserable up here in bonny scotland.. but on the plus side.... I'VE JUST HAD A PIZZA HUT BUFFET!!!!

Greengirlforever · 15/11/2006 14:44

Go CFK with the shopping! Mind you if I bought that sort of stuff now I wouldn't be able to find it when the time came....

GMM - I'VE JUST HAD AN M&S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE!!!

Serious question - I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and am hardly feeling any movement at all. How (ab)normal is this? My scan is on next Monday morning. Does anyone think I should phone the midwife and ask for a heartbeat-listen before then (she said I could if I was worried)??

geordiemacminx · 15/11/2006 14:51

I think if its your first its not uncommon not to feel the baby until after 20 weeks - sometimes you dont realise the flutterings that you thought were wind were the baby... however I could be talking rubbish as I am a first timer....

1becomes3 · 15/11/2006 14:54

GGF- if you have any worries at all go see the mw thats what they are there for.
If in doubt get checked out.

Greengirlforever · 15/11/2006 14:57

Right - phoned her and left message!

AngeG · 15/11/2006 15:00

Happy Birthday Pesha, hope you've had a good birthday.

GGF - GMM is right it is quite normal in first pgs to not feel the baby move til after 20 wks I didn't first time round and I had an anterior placenta so ds had to kick through that as well. Still as 1becomes3 said if you're worried ring your mw, that is what they are there for.

AngeG · 15/11/2006 15:00

sorry x posts, well done it's always better to have your mind put at rest.

Greengirlforever · 15/11/2006 16:47

Wow my lovely midwives have just phoned back to say go over this evening - and as I work just across the road this is easy!

Harimad · 15/11/2006 17:44

Good luck with that GGF - although I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine!

My 'bubbles' seem to come and go - had some very strong ones yesterday, but barely a thing today. I guess sproglets still too small to feel unless s/he's very excited!

mammyjo · 15/11/2006 17:46

Hi all. GGF hope you heard a lovely strong heartbeat this evening. First time round I didnt feel anything much at all until around 20 weeks, and even then it was fluttery wind type movements. This time I can actually feel the baby moving through my belly from the outside! Felt it for the first time lying in bed last night. Not actually waiting for it, just happened to have my hand in the right place at the right time! It was lovely though!

Tili, hope you are feeling slightly better this evening. I have drunk copious amounts of blackcurrant and honey today! I have to say my throat doesnt feel so sore but I guess that could just be due to me drinking loads of fluids. Definitely worth a try though when your options are so limited! Look after yourself xxxx

mammyjo · 15/11/2006 18:02

I am sure one of you will be able to help me with this. Did someone (ages ago) mention a book they used to help their ds/dd understand about the baby? We still havent told ds and I am starting to feel really guilty as everyone knows except him. Was thinking perhaps a book would be good for some sort of explanation as he is 3.5 and very much a "why" kind of boy so would enjoy reading about it. If any of you know a good book I would be very grateful for the title so I can go and get one for him. Thanks everyone!

CornflakeKid · 15/11/2006 20:15

Good evening everyone - my two boys know about baby - I am sure there are trillions more questions to come - so would also be keen to find out about books. A friend saod she had one would lend me - will ask her which one it is.

About to have yummy steak with chilli, ginger and garlic and wild rice... yummmmmmyyyyyyy....

nuttygirl · 15/11/2006 21:15

Happy Birthday Pesha!!!

Mmmm..chocolate party...i'm v of you CD. I've only just started being able to eat chocolate again (it has been making me sick!)

GGF - hope everything went well with m/w. I'm a first timer and have just started feeling the movements (or at least knowing that they are the bby not just wind), I can now feel them through my tummy so DH can feel it too. I'm 19+6 today.

Woo...scan tomorrow...I'm getting excited but hoping it's not the same woman as last time. She wasn't friendly at all and seemed really uninterested.

Well better go, thrying to watch I'm a Celeb.

doobydoo · 15/11/2006 21:20

Firstly hope your visit to midwife went well GGF.
Thanks for the camper info Harimad..very interesting.
I know that a couple of units a week when pregnant are fine and i drank and smoked till at least half way through my pregnancy with ds.Who weighed 9Lb 10oz and is pretty bright.
I just feel anxious this time round about everything.I have looked after 2 children with fetal alcohol syndrome and it's because their mothers were alcoholics..not beause they had a couple of glasses of wine a week!
Just had half a glass of red wine but will definitely not smoke.
Great about your scan Runnyhabbit and i am glad to mread you are feeling better.I think lots of s are up and down.
Great about your scan to WCL!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pesha!
Hope youfeel better soon Tli..it's yuck having phlegm about [i know it makes me want to retch].
Dp and i bought a fab Graco pushchair with carrycot and cup holders and temp control and a clock built in on the handle bars and all the other bits for....100 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bargain or what???I am delighted.Brand new..the shop is making way for its new stock.
Normally we see bargains but have no money to avail of them,so i feel v.lucky.I hope we haven't tempted fate tho'.
II am hugely paranoid this pregnancy.
Anyway ..i had to go through the posts with a pen and paper but sorry if i have left anyone out and good luck for all the scans in waiting.

Greengirlforever · 15/11/2006 21:31

Ha! found it! MAMMYJO - the book they were talking about (or one of them) is "Mummy Laid an Egg" by Babette Cole which you can get on Amazon. I am sure there are some others as well. DS2 is also 3.5 and he knows and tells people that "mummy has a baby in her tummy" but beyond that is not that interested as yet. I may well get the book but probably won't read it with him until much closer to B-day!

The midwife visit was fine. I also got to see the local midwife unit, which I hadn't been into yet, and it is completely gorgeous with a water pool, small quiet and cosy atmosphere. And the midwives here are all so lovely! I had a new one tonight - just as nice as my regular one - wish I could have this baby there tomorrow (not kidding....).

Heard good strong heartbeat and heard her move but didn't feel a thing - so I will be asking them where the placenta is on Monday. At least I can sleep easy over the weekend .
