Morning all, Am very surprised I'm the first around this morning. Re. krispy kreme doughnuts, the 3 Tesco's nearest us have been selling them for quite a few months now. I don't see the attraction in them myself - thank goodness, I have enough extra weight as it it

OP posts:

KK dougnuts are sooo very very bad...but in a good way

Where do you find name threads. Have been trailing but to no avail.

So are most of you in the 2nd Trimester now and feeling fab and full of energy? I can't wait as I feel completely KNACKERED nearly all the time. Getting a head cold to boot. FAB!

Scan tomorrow. Very nervous. Cross everything for me.

Frenchsmallfry · 13/11/2006 11:20

Everything crossed for you juicy lucy, the names thread was in the conception section. Called I know I'm getting wheyyyyyyyy ahead but.......

I too have a crapy cold but it's just hit my chest today. Have pulled all my tummy muscles coughing so bad already. Dd also has the cold so no doubt it will hit her chest later in the week. Her back teeth are still not through, It's two weeks tommorow and can still only see the points, they are taking their time.

Happy Monday all.

largeginandtonic · 13/11/2006 11:31

Morning everyone, juicylucy you must excited to see the the bean tomorrow! Lots of good luck coming your way.

Peacemaker cant believe you have KK near you and dont even want them.....waste

Am stressed this morning, have discovered that boots 3 for 2 thing has all the major things that mine want for xmas but the website shows out of stock on all of them! I need to go to a massive boots but not sure if they will have them either, think im going to have to make phone calls....

charleymouse · 13/11/2006 12:31

Morning Ladies
Sorry have not been around for the last week. We went away for bonfire night to center parcs (DD slept through ginormous firework display)and have had lovely mucousy head cold since and was laid up all last week.
Please forgive me as I am currently catching up with last weeks thread whilst already posting on this one so am not sure what is happening with everyone yet. Hello to all newbies and congrats to all of you that have had your scans.
Well I think I must be the last hope for twins as my scan is this Wednesday am at 12 weeks exactly (I think). I think it must be as I am mahoosive if not will have to blame all the ovaltine and the biccies I am getting through at work.
Anyway hope everyone is okay and not eating too many donuts. PS i read somewhere that if you eat the ones with the holes in the middle all the calories have fallen out .
Not looking forward to TPT tomorrow as feel huge, I am going to have to get new bras as feel boobs are getting a bit constricted these days and am the last hook as it is. Is anyone on here breastfeeding at the minute or is it only me that is daft enough to be trying to do this whilst cooking a new bun at the same time? I have to say the first few weeks were a bit tender but now seem okay, am just thirsty all the time, I am not drinking enough as it only makes me want to wee more.
Just caught up with the gas section from last week, sorry of TMI but just before my cold I had a small whiff of gas whilst on toilet which made me throw up . I couldn't believe it normally the only ones bearable are your own but this was just too much for my delicate nose. The worst thin was I had to jump up to be sick down the loo and stuck my nose right oin it. At least the cold has kept my MS at bay as it seems to be triggerd by smells.
Anyway best get back to work (sorry catching up with last weeks thread).
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

SamJ555 · 13/11/2006 13:25

Hello, I only joined mumsnet a couple of days ago and I was wondering if you would mind me joining in as I am also due my 2nd child at the very end of May. It would be nice to know others are suffering just like me.

May I just ask if anyone else is suffering with their stretch marks coming back with a vengence. I didn't notice them last time till near the very end and this time they are already starting to show and despite this all I want to do is eat.

MKG · 13/11/2006 13:31

SamJ555,

I'm glad you decided to join us. As for stretch marks, mine never went away.

SamJ555 · 13/11/2006 13:43

That makes me feel better, sorry will have to dash soon I'm only on my lunch break and have just told work its brilleient everyone is like can we get you a drink, dont move I will get that for you. People become so much more friendly and helpful when your pregnant.

lupins71 · 13/11/2006 13:47

Hope everyone is having a good day, lisa x

Juicylucythe2nd · 13/11/2006 14:00

wow lupins am lovin your odds. Just hope mine are half as good!

Did you have bloods too - or was that just the nuchal fold odds?

scootermum · 13/11/2006 14:37

Hi all,
Havent been on in a while as have had a bit of a mare with dd who has been very poorly. In hospital with suspected pneumonia.Out now and on the mend but it was all a bit scary for a while..She looked so little and vulnerable. It was horrid.
Hi to all the newbies and congrats on all the scans.Really frightened re mine now-its a week on Friday.
re the Krispy kreme.Im very lucky as not only do I drive past a KK outlet, (on the A10 at Enfiled for those who live in London or around and who are tempted), but also my lcoal Tesco Extra sells them. What a winner!(Also and this is highly confidential, I hear a certain fast food chain, for whom my DH works, might soon start selling them..)

I think I can feel my little bean moving which is odd for me as I hardly ever felt dd even towards the end. However it may just be indigestion as have eaten so much comfort food in the last week that have probably made myself quite ill..As well as fat as a pig.Mat clothes will be coming out of the attic by the wknd if not before.
Wish some of my hair would fall out. When im pg my hair gets alot thicker and as its well overdue for a cut, (thinking of having a posh spice style bob next), I currently look like the singer from the Magic numbers.

Missed you all this last week x

Frenchsmallfry · 13/11/2006 14:42

Great news Lupins, Congratulations.

Welcome to the mad may thread SamJ555.

I've just had the best news ever, must share it with you. A friend of mine just called to say she is pg, it took her 6 years and 1 M/C to conceive her dd, and this one happened first month. Ohhhhh I'm sooooooo pleased for her, early days yet though I know, she only did the test this morning. Rang me with stick still in hand in utter shock. Bless her, I'm more excited than she is.

Frenchsmallfry · 13/11/2006 14:50

Sorry to hear about dd scootermum, very glad she is on the mend. Keep positive I'm sure your scan will be fine.

I have a posh spice bob BTW, had mine for about 4 years now, very short at back but chin length at front. I love it, but it suits straight hair better. I have to work hard on mine with straightners if I want it to look perfect. It took me 3 stylists in the UK to find one that did it right. Then I moved to France but have been really lucky to find an English lady here who is a fab hairdresser and in the year she has been doing it she has just about cracked it. (Bit fussy about me hair me!!)

Creena · 13/11/2006 15:22

SamJ555 - hello and welcome!

Scooter - really sorry to hear about your daughter's illness but pleased that she's now on the mend.

Lupin - congrats on the scan! I have my nuchal scan on Friday and have started to feel a bit nervous about it.

I had my 12 week antenatal appt this morning and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It took ages for my GP to find it, as bobba seemed to be hiding right down in the corner of my pelvis!

I'm also thinking about a change of hairstyle. I have mad curly hair that I straighten with straighteners and, since all of the MS malarkey kicked in, I haven't been arsed to do it. So I've currently got a bundle of frizz at the back of my head where I've tied it all back in a pony tail.

And as for that bloke out of the Magic Numbers....I think I might be growing his beard.

scootermum · 13/11/2006 15:45

My hair is a hideous kinky afro affair at the best of times so it makes no diff what style I have-its a constant battle armed with serum and some ghd's.The only really bang on style I was ever able to achieve with little effort was in the mid 90's-a lovely Rachel cut.Sadly I was only 15 then though so I never fully appreciated it at the time.Although im pushing for a renaissance of the style.(Although poss without matching grandad shirts et al).
Think will go for the 'pob'.They are all the rage round our area as Beckingham palace is in the next village along and whilst everyone claims to loath the woman they all secretly want to be her.(I quite like her-she was always my favourite spice)Oh to be young again.
For gods sake Scoot!I am only 26.I sound about 50!

Off for my lovely commute home now.2 hours in this morning due to accident on the road, (not me for once-someone else).Hoping for more reasonable travel on the way back or else will scream!

SKYTVADDICT · 13/11/2006 16:15

SamJ555 - hello and welcome!

Scooter - really sorry to hear about your daughter's illness but pleased that she's now on the mend.

Lupin - congrats on the scan!

I have been reading all the chat but sorry I have not posted on here for a while as have been feeling quite low but had a good chat with DP yesterday and my 16 week antenatal appointment with midwife today and am feeling a bit better now! Nothing really wrong just feeling low and tired and hormonal I think and just worried about the baby etc.

Anyway the midwife decided I was 16 + 5 and due on 27 April. Staying on this thread though if thats ok. Also after quite a lot of searching she found the heartbeat which was a big relief as I was starting to panic even though she had said they couldn't always find it. Had blood tests so should get the results in a couple of week and next scan is 8 December. Maybe after that I will relax and enjoy being pregnant I hope.

largeginandtonic · 13/11/2006 16:16

Ooooh its gone crazy this avo, ive been a good mummy and took Ds's to toddlers, they make mess somewhere else its great!

Welcome SamJ555, glad to have you! My stretch marks never went either, im using some mama mio tummy rub oil this time in the vain hope i wont be adding to them.

FSF it is lovely when friends get prg, especially when you are to and are further on than them

Lupin congrats on your scan, what a brill result!

Scooter sorry to hear about your DD hope she is on the mend now. Who is this fast food chainand will they be delivering to them all? I need a KK close by. We missed you too, very pleased you are back. LOL at your hair mine is just like that to, im constantly looking for magic tamming serum and could not do without my GHD's! I cant believe you have to do a 2 hour commute it must be hell. Is it still ok for me to borrow you fab fat dress for dec? Im not doing well in my hunt so far

Ate brie with avacado for lunch (bad mummy) was delicious though

Frenchsmallfry · 13/11/2006 16:35

lg&t, I think the food chain scooter is talking about is the golden arches one. I remember her saying in another post a while ago about it. As she said it was hush hush I thought if I say she won't have been the one to spill the beans. hehe. Sorry scooter, hope thats right.

Oh and I also had brie for lunch, in a pitta with bacon. Yummmmy Yummmmy. It was pasturised though, I checked.

pebblemum · 13/11/2006 16:35

Afternoon all!

Congrats to all the newbies and those who have had scans.

I had a fairly easy weekend. We went to a party at the neighbours on saturday then went to Toys R Us on Sunday. I have now finished buying presents for the boys so can now concentrate on everyone else. Luckily i know what im buying its just getting round to sorting it all out, hopefully i can order most things online, i hate shopping when its busy.

Ive been feeling quite low today. Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of my grandads death ( we were very close), its almost a year since my Nan died of cancer and then today i found out my mums only remaining sister is dying of cancer too. She only found out today and is in a bad way, it started as breast cancer but has spread and there is nothing they can do. My mum was the first person she told. Its been a bit of a shock for everyone but we have to try not to dwell on it, my aunty wouldnt want that. Its just a shame she lives so far away it makes it hard to just pop round for a visit

Apart from feeling down im ok. Im sure i can feel this little bean moving more and more, at the moment its just fluttering, i cant wait until i can feel proper kicks at least then i will now for definate what it is.

I'd better go and sort tea out or my boys will fade away (at least you would think they will the way they keep moaning that they are starving)

redkennedy · 13/11/2006 16:40

hello all
hope everyone is well. have been giggling to myself with all your references to the Magic Numbers - I look like I have eaten the entire band. Really rather round today. Even though Ive been puking up my breakfast and lunch. I thought this was supposed to be ending soon? I too am horribly horribly blocked up with a cold, congestion practically coming out of my ears and a cough that scares people on the bus, I swear they think Ive got TB or something. But my sense of smell has gone completely so while thats good cos I cant smell the people on the bus, I also cant taste ANYTHING. Ive spent a fortune this last week on serious Thai food and all things spicy in an effort to blast my taste buds back to life but no avail. May aswell be eating cardboard (especially as I then put it all back down the lav head first).
Charleymouse I spat tea over my keyboard at your story of trumping and then vomming. Hilarious.
Ladies, good luck to everyone who has their scans this week, Ive got mine this Thursday and cannot wait, for obvious reasons, but also so my dp can actually see that yes, we are having a wee baby and that hes going to have to get his head round it! oh I live in hope xx

lupins71 · 13/11/2006 17:01

Evening all, wow you have been a chatty bunch this afternoon,

Can you eat brie if it is made with pasturized milk? They sell it in sainsburies and I was dying for a brie and grape baguette but resisted (unlike some of you norty bunch lol) surley it must b ok ?

Welcome samj555, congrats on you pg, hope you have a healthy happy one,

Juicy, No I didnt have bloods, I would have had it been a borderline result and would have had amnio if it was low, but the consultantant said she highly recommended no invasive testing, I will have the bloods for spina bifida and the other one that you have at 16 wks, but thats it i think

We told dd when we got heome she was going to be a big sister, showed ger the three scan pics and she said well i like those two but not that one - we quickly put her straight that there was only one, so she thinks as long as its a girl its ok, hmmm could be interesting

Good luck to all having scans or tests this week, hope they are good results

Oh and how many weeks is everyone, I not sure who's where

Lisa 11+6 (maybe)

Oh just had a craving for butter, off to the kitchen

Frenchsmallfry · 13/11/2006 18:42

lupins I thought most products are ok if they are pasturised, but I may stand corrected. I'm sure that you have heard me say that in France there are NO restrictions on do's and dont's for eating. So I'm sure the odd thing you eat from the beware list there is not going to cause a problem. IYKWIM. Wouldn't eat it in a restaurant though, as you can't check dates and where it comes from etc.... certainly over here restaurants buy alot of produce straight from Farms or gardeners so I am always a bit wary.

MKG · 13/11/2006 18:48

It's a girl . . . maybe.

Well I have had quite an adventure today.

Last weekend my dh hit a deer (which if you don't know there are like a million here in NJ) Anyway, we are now a 1 care family and his day off was changed to Monday instead of Wednesday which would have left me carless. I called at 9:30 to get my appointment changed from Wednesday to Today. They only opening was at 10am so I rushed around and got there on time. Only to be told that if I wanted the nuchal scan I had to rush to the other office (20 min away) for the ultrasound. (My practice has 3 locations) So they drew the blood and the ob tried to find the heartbeat with the dopple which she couldn't (not at all surprising because my uterus is tipped) So I raced to the other location, before the tech left. I got there and it took 45 minutes to get the baby in a position to do the test. Everything looks good, so when the bloods get back I'll know my odds. But the tech said looks like no worries.
I saw,

  1. thumb sucking
  2. hiccupping
  3. Drinking of amniotic fluid.

Very cool.

Anyway, the tech asked if I was planning to find out the sex, I said yes and she said she would try to find out today. She told me they are trying to get the science to tell us earlier. She said that there is a body part that can either be a clitoris or penis, but this young is hard to tell completely, but the direction it faces indicates the sex. If it lays flat it is a girl and if it points up it's a boy. Well mine looked flat.

She's excited to find out for sure at my 20 week appointment. She thanked me for letting her practice on me.

Oh yeah, before she checked I told her about my dreams of having a girl, and when it looked like a girl we both got an excited look.

MKG · 13/11/2006 18:50

Oh yeah and the whole hemorrage/fibroid issue has been solved. I have both. Today she said that it looks like the hemorrage has corrected itself, and the fibroid is extremely small and no where near the baby so no worries, we just need to make sure we take a look at 20 weeks.

Frenchsmallfry · 13/11/2006 18:57

Ohhhhh MKG that is just absolutly fantastic news; I am soooooooo pleased for you. Fingers crossed for a girl, I have to say they are fun. Not that my ds wasn't but there is just something ultra cute about girlies, certainly the choice of clothes for them is far more exciting.
