Morning all, Am very surprised I'm the first around this morning. Re. krispy kreme doughnuts, the 3 Tesco's nearest us have been selling them for quite a few months now. I don't see the attraction in them myself - thank goodness, I have enough extra weight as it it

Wow Twins at last, was beginning to wonder if we were going to be one of the rare threads that are twins free. Congrats Charley By the way i love the way you managed to mention everyon in your post, i normally forget who said what by the time i start to reply so hats off to you

Jess your day sounds great, i could do with one like that but my birthday's not til the end of April so a while to wait yet, not that Dh would be that thoughtful. Im still waiting for my Anniversary meal and that was on June 1st

LG&T you got your wish, you wanted someone on here to have twins. Thank god you didnt want one of us to have triplets

Twins!Lovely Charley!How exciting!

Still a week to go for my scan.boo.
Im so tired today I can hardly stand up so so much for the fatigue making an exit..Also have a courtesy car instead of my one and got in it this morning in the middle of the horrid rain and couldnt work out how anything worked. So drove down the A10 with alternately, wipers, hazards, fog lights, normal lights, and indicators for about half an hour before I could work it all out.Managed the radio ok though so at least was entertained.
I cannot wait for today to end as then its the weekend for me.Am being 'forced' to go to Bluewater tommorrow so DH has peace and quiet to revise.Am going to go crazy in H and M and Blooming Marvellous buying lovely new maternity clothes as I look a bit snug in most of my things now.
largegandt-tried to email you yesterday on your other address-did you get it?

Hope all are well today..

Hi everyone,

Congrats Charley on your twins! My twin boys are 4 and I have really enjoyed them. When they were born (full term!) my girls were (just turned) 3 and 5. It was OK-they were quite good babies (made up for it when they hit 2!)

Hope everyone is OK this week.

I have told my parents now about expecting #5, and although they were awful for a day or two are now quite 'happy' about it! Now just MIL to tell!

Went to midwife for booking and heard babys heartbeat. Spotting seems to have stopped too luckily. xxx

MKG · 16/11/2006 15:12

I've figured out my craving. Tomatoes. It's the overlying theme in my pregnancies.

Before I knew I was pregnant I wanted Ketsup on everything. I am eating tomato sandwhiches (Just tomato, mayo, and bread) like crazy. I think 3 a day. And I spoon marinara sauce like it's soup.

I also just remembered that when pregnant with ds I drank an entire jar of marinara sauce in one sitting.

Tomatoes are my thing.

Bensonbluebird · 16/11/2006 15:28

Twins at last, that's fab, though I have to say I was relieved to only see one at my scan as we live in a top floor tenement and would have to move.

We had a reunion for my NCT class on monday and what do you know? 5 out of the 6 of us are pg!, 2 due in the next month, and 3 of us around May. No 6 is waiting until after a big work re-shuffle next Aug so I hope she didn't feel too left out. It will be great to have local baby buddies 2nd time around.

Re haircut discussion earlier in the week, I'm going for a restyle on Saturday. I have read that it is unwise to change your hairstyle when pg as you may just want to look not pg but I am throwing caution to the wind as I'm sick of seeing a haggard looking frizzy person looking back at me in the mirror. Have been doing lots of those virtual hairdresser programmes where you can try on different haircuts. Endless fun...

lupins71 · 16/11/2006 15:56

Congratulations Charley on your twins, thats great news (i think lol)

How is everyone today, MGK I am glad you have figured your cravings out

Wish I would stop being sick, soooo fed up with it, I was in town today waiting for bus and was feeling sooo queasy as soon as I got home that was it, thought it had passed had couple of good days but have been knackered and sick today grrrrr. Oh and have had indigestion - never had that in my life

Went and got 3 pair of maternity trousers, going to see colin fry on sat night and thought I better get something to wear lol

Hope everyone is ok and having a good day,

Lisa x

Creena · 16/11/2006 16:05

wow Charley wow!!! I am really, really excited for you!

And well done mini MKG - another big milestone reached.

Just popping in to say hello and hope everyone (especially JuicyLucy) is well - I'm going to try and have a catnap now, as I'm absolutely knackered!

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 16:22

Still no news from jucylucy. Mad isn't it we don't even know each other, but I'm worried about her. Unlike JL not to post for a while. Soooooo hoping she is just soooooo busy.

peacemakerukuk · 16/11/2006 16:57

I've found that on quite a few threads on mumsnet where people have problems and are worried about various scans / tests etc. and you never hear from them again. I hate it when that happens, I like to know what happens to people, you get so engrossed on their threads you just want to hear of a happy ending

largeginandtonic · 16/11/2006 19:29

Juicy where are you? Good grief i think we get so attached to each other on here, ive got loads of prg's to worry about now! I think it's great it totally puts things in perspective sometimes either when im freaking out or not sure etc..It's so nice to indulge in prg talk to as some friends just dont wanna hear about it all the time, we can yap to our hearts content.

Was telling Dh about my dress situation and that i was not stressing cos i have, i faultered here as i didnt know what to call scooter, i said a friend in the end cos she is so are you all. Just cos we only computer yap and dont see each other i dont think it makes any difference. Im so glad i have you all it really really does make my life better. Im very lonely here, having not long moved and being away from all my family, i dont know what i would do without you all [sob]

Im afraid scooter may rise to 'best' friend status soon as when she emailed me regarding the dress borrowing she mentioned she may send me some Krispy Kreme's...... Now that is a true friend!

My dominos pizza has just arrived, a medium pizza with anchovies, olives, sweetcorn and ham, with a side order of onion rings. Im going to be SO massive. Has been a rough day though so feel i deserved a treat. May go and watch some trash just ti complete the self indulgent picture....

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 19:48

Scooter you suck up. hehe lol lots, only joking

pmsl at the best friend bit lg&t.
You keep telling me off for being nice. I think it's rubbing off on you. I agree with you though, it is lovely to chat on here, I feel like I know you all really well, when in reality we wouldn't know if we walked past each other in the street or sat next to each other on the bus. Maybe thats what is quite nice about it. IYKWIM

MKG · 16/11/2006 19:58

Frenchsmallfry,

That's the part that makes me sad. It makes me sad that you guys could be neighbors or see each other and not know each other. I can't include myself in that because I'm over here. It's nice because we can say anything, but it's still sad that I'll never see any of you.

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 20:19

I thought about that too MKG. But I'm not in the UK either so unlikly to bump into anyone either. Mad isn't it. Can you imagine it.

Ante-natal class 30 weeks, lady across room says "someone I'm chatting to on the internet called MKG said "blaa blaa blaa". Hey thats me!! FSF is that you?

How funny would that be.

MKG · 16/11/2006 20:33

I would laugh. Are you going to take classes again? I've been thinking about it, but I don't want to spend the money. I mainly want to because it will give me something to do in the final weeks.

MKG · 16/11/2006 20:36

I have to add that whenever I hear an English accent on tv I wonder, "Is how LG&T talks" because when I read, I read with an "American English" accent.

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 20:42

Nooooo, no good for me MKG. At least you can understand the English, I would sit at my classes with a distance smile on my face, not knowing what anyone is saying. I'm trying hard to learn the language but it is not easy.

Although if I was in the UK I would defo go.

a, because you are entitled to time off work to go.
b, because I met an amazing group of ladies at classes with ds, 2 of which I am still very close to. 4 of us met every friday for tea and cakes at each others houses, until I moved to France.

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 20:47

Ohh btw MKG, NHS ante-natal classes are free in the Uk.

I think it's 8 classes, 6 before and 2 after birth. That may be wrong though and probably depends on what area of the country you are in.

They are usually arranged by your health visitor (attached to your GP surgery) incase you don't have the same name there.

Gingerbear · 16/11/2006 21:09

good grief! But you lot can chatter!
This will probably get lost in this vast thread, but I wanted to let you all know that I had my private Nuchal scan today, and everything is looking good. The NT measurement was 1.4mm, and thereis a nasal bone present, and other markers looked good too. I had a blood test today for biochemical markers, and when I get the results on Tuesday next week, they will give me a risk factor then. I am not worried to be honest, as the results from the scan are similar to DD's.

MKG · 16/11/2006 21:15

Frenchsmallfry,

Do UKers pay for anything? Our classes aren't free, they's at least $200 per. We aren't entitled to time off. Is it true that fathers get paternity leave??? Some companies do that here. But with ds my dh was back at work the day we brought him home.

Maternity leave here is usually 3 months.

Also I've been wondering, what is a TENS machine?

MKG · 16/11/2006 21:16

I'm eating my second tomato sandwhich. Instead of making one I just make 2 now. I would really like a third.

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 21:28

A tens machine is device that sends electrode pulses to your nerves to redirect the pain to your brain. You attatch 4 sticky pads with wires attatched to certain points on your back. You then have the hand held bit that you can adjust the intensity through each contraction. Up and down, start to end. It's alot more technical than that though obviously and I'm not sure on the complete science of it. I used one in early labour with ds, I found it quite good but I think it was because I had something else to concentrate on through the contraction. It doesn't hurt, supposed to be relaxing. It is very much an either love or hate the feeling though.

Yes Fathers get 2 weeks statory paternity here. I think there is some change in the Law from April 07 though, but I'm not up to date with it as it obviously doesn't effect me anymore. I'm sure someone who is upto date will be able to give you the ins and outs.

Off to bed now. xxx

MKG · 16/11/2006 21:33

Frenchsmallfry

I get this image of a bunch of laboring women shocking themselves! You people are crazy!

Electric shocks, sniffing happy gas . . .

Frenchsmallfry · 17/11/2006 07:33

It's really not that bad. only tiny pulses!

Now the happy gas you are missing out on believe me, that is not crazy, that stuff is sworn by in the UK. Paramedics use it for people with broken bones and any kind of pain. It's quick lasting you see, has no lasting side effects and is dispersed through your body within about 10 seconds. You have to keep breathing it to make it work. The stuff is fab though, although some people claim it makes them feel sick for a while.

I know you will hopefully be sleeping like a baby, now, but thought I'd relpy now so I don't forget. Off to do the school run.
