Morning all, Am very surprised I'm the first around this morning. Re. krispy kreme doughnuts, the 3 Tesco's nearest us have been selling them for quite a few months now. I don't see the attraction in them myself - thank goodness, I have enough extra weight as it it

OP posts:

sorry to hijack again - large gin and tonic you are the most wonderful woman on this planet!!!!!!! Just had a knock on the door from the postman (who, by the way was mighty fine, a new one obviously and probably temporary unfortunately) and there was your parcel!!!!!

They're both so beautiful!!!!!!!! I can't believe I have Tiffany stuff.

I'll send you a cheque straight away in the post.

You are so wonderful - you've made me very happy

Creena · 15/11/2006 14:17

Hello everyone.

Can I ask a quick question of those of you who have nuchal scans already, please?

I've got mine on Friday and it's with a company called Baby Bond (we don't get nuchal scans on the NHS here, despite me being an 'older mum', so we're having to get it done ourselves). I'll also be giving a blood sample for testing. According to their website, they have their own central laboratory where they send the samples to. The combine the results of the blood tests with the usual factors (my age, the scan itself etc) to come up with an overall risk assessment. Their literature states that within a few days of having the tests, the results will be available.

What I'm wondering is, prior to waiting for the results to become available, will they be able to tell me anything on the day? Like the actual nuchal fold measurement? How has this screening process worked for others?

Sorry with all the questions and stuff.

Scoots - I hope your insurer pays out and you're all sorted without any hassle.

I

MKG · 15/11/2006 14:22

creena,

They will be able to tell you that they can see the nasal bone, and the skin thickness. A measurement less than 2.5 is considered normal. Here they needed to get the picture with both in the frame. It took me between 45 min - 1 hour for the testing. If they take the blood first, they have to get the picture the same day.

cacaboo · 15/11/2006 14:44

Hi Creena,

The set up with Baby Bond sounds a bit different from what I've experienced with my nuchals if you are having to wait a few days for results.

Both times I've had a nuchal, they've been able analyze the blood results on site, so I've been given results immedately after the scan. They take the blood, and then have the scan 45mins - 1 hr later when the blood results are back. Consultant takes measurement of fluid sac at back of the neck from the scan, then enters that result in with the blood results to the computer program. Presses a button on the computer - risk results are calculated.

In terms of the scan - he did say out loud the measurement of the fluid sac (1.1) but from what little I understand, it is fairly meaningless without the other data. Could see a few basic bits of development otherwise in the scan - arms, legs, stomach, heartbeat, brain lobes.

Good luck with it!

pebblemum · 15/11/2006 14:51

Afternoon ladies

Creena i was told the measurements/risk as soon as my scan was over plus i was being nosey when she was measuring me anyway and saw it was only 1.2 which i knew was good. Good luck

Ive got a 3yr old ds2 parading around the house in a new pair of Scooby Doo Pants, black socks and a builders helmet. I only bought the pants today and as soon as he saw them he stripped off to put a pair on , luckily my house is boiling at the moment. If what hes got on sounds strange you should have seen what i had to take him shopping dressed like. He had a pair of bright yellow goggles on, a tubey thing (from a rocket launcher) round the back of his neck and was singing into the endof it at the top of his voice. My mum couldnt walk near us without laughing but he just wouldnt take anything off. He's now pretending to be superman with a towel round him.Kids!

Creena · 15/11/2006 14:59

Thanks everyone - you lot are ace!

Pebble - your son sounds brilliant. Reminds me of my son at that age - he went through a phase where he insisted on wearing a dinosaur dressing up costume at all times........

largeginandtonic · 15/11/2006 16:32

Hi all have been shopping all day am pooped. Cant be bothered to do tea or move, feet hurt so does back. Did fing a millies cookie shop so bought a box of 18! Made sure lots of them were ones i was sure would not like but Dc would

pebblemum · 15/11/2006 16:40

Aaagh Ive just had a nightmare. Someone just knocked the door and when i opened it I was face to face with someone i used to go to school with and used to fancy like mad. He looks the same but there was me stood there with frizzy hair all over the place (ds2 had been playing hairdressers with it so you can imagine the mess), an orange and white baggy top which makes me look huge, scruffy jeans (more for comfort than style) and my old wonky glasses (normally wear contacts)I know i look a right state. He had knocked on the wrong door so i directed him to the right house and dived back inside. Hopefully he didnt recognise me but the people he has come to visit know that i know him so im praying they dont say anything to him. How embarassing Oh and ds2 was stood there in his scooby pants and goggles

I hardly ever see anyone from school unless i look a mess, when im looking gorgeous no one ever sees me, life is so cruel

MKG · 15/11/2006 16:47

Speaking of dreams. Last night I dreamt that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt showed up at my house with their children. It seems that I was friends with them and they were staying here while traveling. It was very odd.

I wouldn't mind if Brad Pitt showed up alone.

Frenchsmallfry · 15/11/2006 16:58

Hey, anyone seen JucyLucy on any other threads? It's Monday since she posted and her scan was yesterday. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo hoping she is just too busy to get back to a bunch of nosy women on the Internet. Speaking for myself BTW.

Thinking of you JL, hoping everything is fine.

pebblemum · 15/11/2006 17:05

I wish this had been a dream but it wasnt he was there in the flesh aargh

Ive had so many weird dreams since getting pg. In one i dreamt i was going out with Davey Jones from the Monkees (old 60's group), i have no idea where that came from, in another my sister was married to Jonathon Ross and then the other night i dreamt i got back together with ds1's dad (why i have no idea as i hate him). Most though have been so weird i couldnt even try to explain them and i think that if i tried i would end up being locked in a looney bin. No wonder im so tired all the time, my imagine is going into overdrive at night.

pebblemum · 15/11/2006 17:10

FSF-just did a search and she hasnt been on any other thread since Monday.

JL, hope everything is ok.

MKG · 15/11/2006 19:43

Ds just took his first steps. Finally!!!

aprilmeadow · 15/11/2006 19:57

Apparently KK is now just a warehouse

Did i say that i had stayed the same on TPT? Brain is turning to mush.

MKG thats brilliant news on the walking front well done to your DS. Now you need eyes in your behind!

Had a nightmare week with the house move! What else exactly can go wrong?!

largeginandtonic · 15/11/2006 19:57

Well done mini MKG on your first steps!

Oh where is juicylucy? Please come back JL, hope you are ok (((hugs))) to you.

Have had awful headache all day, had showerer just now and am mooching in jammies, taken paracetemol too. I want tea now but am totally uninspired, may have some scrammbled eggs.

How is everyone else?

aprilmeadow · 15/11/2006 20:01

Did you make squidge? (mars rice krispie)

aprilmeadow · 15/11/2006 20:24

just about to tuck in to the last part of my Ben & Jerrys Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream! Yummy

pebblemum · 15/11/2006 22:46

Great news on the first steps MKG, now the trouble starts.

I thought i was doing so well tonight, i had a nice prawn salad but then i realised ds2 hadnt eaten his cream cake that my mum bought him and knowing it wouldnt last until tomorrow i just had to eat it I will replace it with a fresh one tomorrow.

Im feeling quite tired so am off to bed in a minute. So far this week ive been in bed when dh comes in from work, normally i like to sit up and wait but by 11.30 im falling asleep, must be getting old. I remember going clubbing on a Thursday (Cheap nights £1 a drink), not getting in until 4.30am then getting back up at 7 ready for a full day at college, then clubbing again that night. If i tried that now it would kill me Those days were great!!

Hope everyone has a good night sleep without funny/weird/horrible dreams. See you in the morning

charleymouse · 15/11/2006 23:08

Samjjj5 my stretch marks are coming back and seem to be really itchy.

Good news re the scan Lupins71.

Scootermum sorry to hear dd has been unwell, hope everything is all alright now. You just feel so helpless when they are ill don?t you.

Skytv glad you are staying with us, these dates aren?t an exact science anyway are they.

Pebblemum so sorry you are feeling blue, sending cyberhugs your way.

Sorry Redkennedy, hope you did not make too much of a mess. At least having a cold stops the sense of smell and feeling so sicky. Good luck with your scan tomorrow

Hope you get your wish for a girl MKG, good news re the fibroids

Largeginandtonic don?t worry about thew pics of the ex they are in the past and have beedn in storage for ages, don?t give them a second thought.

TYG good luck with the move.

Showofhands nosebleeds happening here as well.

Jessinwa I though my bump had gone soft but it is all alright today, you will be fine.

Frenchsmallfry I know what you mean about finding out it would be soooo difficult too keep it secret.

Creena thanks for asking all the scan stuff it is exactly what I wanted to know especially as my blood tests might give me false readings as found out at todays scan it is going to be TWINS

I can?t believe I joked about it on Monday. There is no history of twins on either side, when the sonographer asked if there was we said no and she replied well it has to start somewhere! I cant believe in 6 months time I will have 3 children under 3, Anyway best go as have to talk to DH and get our heads round this. Keep being shocked, excited, scared, pleased and so on again and again and again.

Anyway will catch up with you all tomorrow, at least I know I will be staying in the due May 07 club as MW said I will probably not go full term anyway, both babies measured 12 weeks today and that is exactly what my dates suggested.. It puts my homebirth plans right out of the window. Oh bugger.

MKG · 15/11/2006 23:27

charleymouse,

Twins!!! Oh boy. Is your oldest potty trained? If not, imagine 3 in diapers. I'm going crazy thinking of two in diapers.

We finally have a set of twins!

jessinwa · 16/11/2006 05:49

can't say much at the moment. today was my birthday and we did anything that i wanted all day. dh stayed home with munch and i. we went to a very fancy place for lunch, munch burnt his fingers on a lightbulb on the fancy table setting and i ate an amazing meal. then we went to my doctor appointment and found out that my little one is just fine and her/his heart is beating just as it should. whew! what a relief. now we are home and i just had a lovely bowl of homemade choco mousse made by dh and a cup of decaf espresso. i feel like i really needed this day of attention and pampering. it came just in the nick of time. it was a great day. and now i am off to bed.

largeginandtonic · 16/11/2006 08:20

YAAAAAAAY twins at last! Am sooo excited for you charleymouse, you must still be in shock!

Dont worry about the 3 under 3 its not so bad, i had 3 under 2 for 5 months! Just get you LO potty trained, 3 nappies to change is no fun.

OOOOH am so excited for you, you get so much fuss made of you, lots of appointments and scans, hooray! Am popping at the seams with huge grin's

So glad you are ok Jess, baby's scare us silly sometimes.

I have not made squidge yet, have eaten one of the mars bars though, will def do it today before i eat the rest!!!

aprilmeadow · 16/11/2006 08:21

Frenchsmallfry · 16/11/2006 09:47

SKYTVADDICT · 16/11/2006 10:00

Charley - many congratulations on the twins.

Jess - good news on scan and glad you had a lovely day.

DD1 back at school today and I'm at work but boss gone to Australia (actually in departure lounge as I type as he has just telephoned me) until 31 January - so yipee! work will be much easier until he gets back. He still rings A LOT and has to have daily faxes and emails but at least he is not here. I can wear what I like too which is good.
