Haha me too, no idea why. Made me feel a bit emotional! She's so lucky - seems she was in labour for only a couple of hours...

Excitingtimesahead · 02/05/2015 12:02

I can't wait to find out the Princesses name! I'm not a royalist, but do like Kate & Wills & you can never not be excited about a baby being born Star

ambientolf · 02/05/2015 17:53

Waves. Hi yum

Excitingtimesahead · 02/05/2015 18:23

Anyone else 20 weeks and still not sure if they're feeling baby? I'm having a worry day.

OP posts:
ovumahead · 02/05/2015 21:21

treacle is it your first? What kinds of sensations are you getting? This is my second but with a bug age gap, I remember nothing detailed about my previous pregnancy... I'm 21 weeks and sensations are still really little, like little tippy taps and when baby is very low down I hardly feel anything. I don't notice any movement unless I'm lying down totally still and concentrating, and I know I don't have an anterior placenta. It's just how it is! Have you tried sticking your bum in the air for a few mins (on all fours) then having a glass of orange juice, then lying really still? This worked for me yesterday when I was feeling anxious.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 02/05/2015 21:49

Appreciate it's a different scenario altogether, but DHs dad died when he was seven. His name deliberately doesn't feature in any of our name options as we felt it might lead to pressure to live up to certain memories etc.

Conversely, we do have my grandfathers names (all four of them) in the mix as he died on Christmas Eve last year. You're September girls...you can appreciate the maths in that!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 02/05/2015 21:51

Treacle I get quite a bit of movemenr most days but there's still a lot of space in there so I think it depends on where the tadpole is. Try not to.worry - I think movement is more of a thing later on when there are patterns to it and you notice something different. Some don't feel anything until well after 20 weeks.

Have you got a scan coming up?

Excitingtimesahead · 02/05/2015 22:09

Treacle if your worried and had your 20wk scan you can ring delivery suite. They may have a triage that you can go to, or your midwife team may have a drop in clinic you can go to to listen to baby hr.

However at 20wkd it's still very early to be monitoring movement. Try not to worry.

Treaclepie19 · 02/05/2015 22:24

Yeah its my first, I'll have to give that a try.
I've felt occasionally something that feels like jumping and sometimes a twitchy feeling.
I'm 20 weeks today, my scan isn't til 11th May.

Excitingtimesahead · 02/05/2015 22:29

Sounds like movements, they become stronger and more regular.

Without a 20wk scan they won't see you in maternity triage.

But a midwife drop in clinic or an apt with your midwife might be helpful to put your mind at rest. They can listen to your baby's heart rate and check you over too.

Try not to worry, I know it's difficult. 20 weeks is still a little early when it's your first.

Boodlymummy · 02/05/2015 22:50

They sound like movements to me, too. You will feel them properly soon I'm sure, and it'll be even sweeter for the worrying wait.

May not be relevant, but for what it's worth, I've always had a very skinny belly and waist (pear shape - big arse and thighs) and I assume rubbish abdominal muscles as I don't work out and have a sedentary job. I am enjoying the movements, but even with not much between me and the little kicker, they are teeeensy. So I imagine anyone with a more womanly middle or toned muscles would find it harder to feel them. Then there's the position of your womb and all the other organs, where the placenta is etc.

ovumahead · 02/05/2015 22:56

Treacle you are feeling movements, that's what those sensations are! They are gentle at this stage as baby is still tiny and doesn't have big muscles yet, and still has loads of space. That's why I'm not really aware of them unless I'm lying down and concentrating.

Treaclepie19 · 02/05/2015 23:26

Thanks all, I feel a little better :)
I've had quite a few jumpy twinges like stomach spasms so maybe that's him moving about.
Going to try and get some sleep! X

treacle I'm 19+4 and have only in the last week started to feel movements as you describe. So tiny and I have to be concentrating hard, it only happens a few times a day that I notice. I'm counting down the days til my scan too!

Maths88 · 03/05/2015 13:49

Treacle I only felt something for the first time on Monday when I was 20+2. Been feeling little bits since but nothing regular or strong. I am rather overweight though and have anterior placenta so I wasn't expecting to feel anything much yet.

Tmi possibly but are anyone elses nipples leaking? The past couple of days Ive noticed some clear fluid leaking out - I think that I might have to start wearing breast pads so that it doesn't leak through at work - is this normal at 21 weeks?

Got a horrible cold and bad reflux so feeling sorry for myself today! DH snuck out this morning while I was in the shower to get me McDonalds breakfast because I've been craving it for ages and not let myself have it - he's definitely a keeper!

ambientolf · 03/05/2015 16:07

Sitting here having a little worry party by myself. Are any of you mums in full time work? I am taking 10 months maternity however I will then return to work full time, 5 days a week & I am so scared I'm going to miss out on my child's upbringing! I have my mum, DP's mum & my nana for childcare (plus DP works shifts so will be looking after baby during the week if he's off) so it's not like baby will be in a nursery but I just know ill miss loads. I know it's so early to have these worries but I've never thought of the logistics of it before - it must be so hard but I do want to have a career & make money to give my child a secure & happy home where we can do fun things together without worrying about money (something I didn't have as a young child) but also want to be there every day with him!!
If you are full time, how do you do it? How do you deal with toddler tantrums or toilet training & missing out on taking them to play groups, etc? Are any of you first time mummies going back to work?
Any advice welcome Smile

Maths88 · 03/05/2015 16:25

Ambient I'm go if back in April full time and we live in a different country to all of our family so baby will be in nursery full time. It does panic me - especially as the nurserys first language will most likely not be English - and we've been realistic that I might not stay full time once we see how things settle but I will be at least to begin with!

ambientolf · 03/05/2015 16:34

maths I'm glad somebody else is. That sounds a lot harder then my situation too as at least i have my family! It doesn't help that everyone in work asks "Are you coming back part time?" & im just Hmm. It gets me annoyed that DP definitely isn't getting asked the question so why is it assumed that the mum shouldn't work full time? So I'm part annoyed at the sexism of it all (IMO) but then still having the mummy guilt I hear about even though baby isn't born yet! This baby thing is hard, hey Smile
