Midnight - my friend and her dh split the 12 month allowance, 6 months each. Her work were offering her 6 months full pay as long as she went back and I think her dh got some pay too while he was off - they worked for the same company, he is now a sahd.

Ugh feeling quite guilty as I've had a high caffeine day Blush
Still under the 200mg limit though.

Maths88 · 06/05/2015 04:46

Treacle don't panic there's a limit for a reason and it will be a cautious one!

amusville · 06/05/2015 07:43

Anyone here been told they have a low lying placenta? Sonographer didn't seem too worried and I've to be rescanned at 36 weeks to see if it's moved, but I've been googling and now I'm worried I'll have to have a section.

bonzo77 · 06/05/2015 08:19

amus I did in my first pregnancy. It moved to a normal position by the time I had a growth scan at around 28 weeks. I think the vast majority do. Especially if they are low but not (partially) covering the os.

CommanderShepard · 06/05/2015 08:29

amusville not personally but a close friend had one. It moved out of the way, as they very often do: think about drawing a dot close to the neck of a deflated balloon then blowing it up. The dot will move up and out of the way and it's normally the same with a placenta.

Basically, don't google - you will always find something that corroborates your worry and it's normally from an entirely unfounded, uncredible source.

CommanderShepard · 06/05/2015 09:05

lastnight I don't have any insider info I'm afraid, but fees in Oxford tend to range from £50-65 per day from what I've seen so I'd assume it would be around that ballpark.

Stanway · 06/05/2015 09:24

I have low placenta too. Not worried at this stage as most shift out of the way (my friend's did) and treating it as lovely bonus scan. Smile

Just trying to catch up noticed the discussion re returning to work FT. I did after DS was born as I would like to think I don't have just a job more a career. I only lasted a few months before dropping to four days. I think I get the best of both worlds with four as you don't loose as much money as you pay less tax etc too (look at listen to tax man website to help work out) And less nursery fees. I get one full day a week with my DS to do fun things and then work four. It is nice to go back to work and regain your personality and remember you were a person before a mum too! But you also appreciate all those little thjngs, the bath times the bed times everything. And don't worry you LO will defo recognise you and be soo pleased to see you when you do pick them up. Like youn say no one seems to suggest DH working part time. But it's what works best for each couple.

Off to occupational health for an assessment: Feel very nervous not sure what they are gojng to say!!

Good luck Mrseb, occupational health were fantastic with me and listened to how I was feeling and my point of view.
They were very supportive.

thanks mrseb reassuring to hear it can work out! hope the OH appointment goes fine

ditzzy · 06/05/2015 16:02

Mine is low lying placenta - I have an extra scan booked for 32 weeks. Mine is completely covering at the moment though (have the fully o/s mark on my notes). I was told not to worry but carry my notes everywhere and get straight to A&E if I see any blood. Seems like a sensible enough precaution regardless of placenta position!

monkeymoonpig · 06/05/2015 18:03

Such an achy belly today, even DP said ive grown a LOT in last week, feel so stretched and still 4mths to go.....sure i wasnt this big at this point last time round Confused

Snowflake15 · 06/05/2015 20:03

monkey I have been feeling the same at times, getting dp to rub my belly helpedSmile

20 week scan went well today, baby was kicking like crazy, i couldn't feel it though really, still only felt a few light taps, I've just looked at my notes and seen it says placenta anterior high, the sonographer didn't mention this though and there was no problem seeing baby on the scan? But that must be the reason I haven't felt much yet, treacle maybe you will be the same

Treaclepie19 · 06/05/2015 23:09

I'm the same monkey, woke up with pain like id been doing situps all night. My bump had moved up though so not surprising.

Glad all went well snowflake :)
Yeah maybe it's the same for me. I'll find out monday :)

Occ health was ok thanks thought the woman was a bit mean tho. I seemed to be on trial as opposed to anything else(paranoia maybe?)! Anyway they are supporting my decision to return to work next week but they have requested I do a phased return 50% hours to start then work back up over four weeks. I think I feel happier wih that tbh. Better than panicking how I will be up and out in time after being off for so long!

Anyway snowflake congrats on scan :-) treaclepie not long for you now til yours mine is next wednesday( the day I'm due back to work Blush)

I have found rubbing my tummy with creams has helped/ what stretch mark creams are everyone using? I'm using elemis Japanese camellia oil and palmers cococutter. Altho can't stand the smell of the palmers one Confused x

Snowflake15 · 07/05/2015 07:43

I'm just using cocoa butter but always have done, wondering whether to invest in some bio oil

Telling work today I hope my manager is in nice and early so I can get it over with, then we have the auditors in so that will be a good distraction, apparently someone resigned yesterday and with the election today I hope my news won't be the office gossip Blush

Treaclepie19 · 07/05/2015 08:30

Sorry to hear that mrseb :( They should be supportive. Glad that she's helping you with going back to work though :)

I'm using bio oil for stretch marks. Not sure if it's working because I already had stretch marks.

Good luck today snowflake :)

Anyone else looking to have a Count The Kicks band? If so, any idea when to start using it? I have quite a bit of movement at the moment but appreciate its still quite early for regular movements (22+3) so wont be stressing out quite yet :-/ mw here said they wont officially do reassurance checks/reduced foetal movements until 25+ weeks, so wondered if that was best time to start using it?

bonzo77 · 07/05/2015 09:22

I think that there's not much value to monitoring movement before 28 weeks, because before turn it can be hard to tell the difference between baby and for example wind. Having said that I'm sure I went in with reduced movement earlier than that with ds2 and was taken seriously.

Using bio oil here. I had lot left over from last time. 2 pregnancies and no stretch marks at all, so either it works or I've been lucky and am not prone to them! My babies were both small and early (5'11 at 39/40 and 5'3 at 35/40) and had reduced fluid, so I didn't get big at all. Actually I think bio oil is nasty stuff, greasy, stains etc, but I'm convinced it's the best thing for the job.

Choccyhobnob · 07/05/2015 10:48

99% sure that absolutely no creams or lotions prevents you from getting stretch marks if you're going to get them but have been using palmers cocoa butter and stretch mark lotion anyway, my skin is lovely and soft even though I know I'll probably be riddled with stretch marks in a couple of months as my mum and sister are and I think it's genetic.

I think the best method is to work out what's normal for your baby and get checked out if there are any changes to that. Mother's mental health is as important as baby's physical health so always call your mW team if you're worried.

Speaking of which, do we know how worrywart is getting on?
