staceym11 · 05/11/2006 18:41

Hi everyone..........well.....i havnt had time to read all your posts but iv come on to let you all know the news.

we now have a new little man in our lives....Keiran Daniel Howell was born Saturday 4th Nov 2006 at 5.57am!!!

Was pottering friday, went out for dinner and to cinema to see SAW3, dont ask why silly idea, the contractions were coming about every20 minutes and were really painful, got back to pick dd up from mums at midnight, got her home and put her to bed, we went to bed and contractions were coming every 10 mins and were so so so painful, so phoned labour ward at 3am and said i was going in, they moaned saying it was still early at 10 mins but i needed pain relief. i got there at 3.45am (having taken dd back to my mums) and they gave me permission to go to the birthing centre, (which was lovely compared to labour ward) i was the only one there and had 2 midwives. she checked baby and gave me gas and air (brill stuff) then came back about 20 mins later and examined me saying i was 5cm, i asked for pethidine, and i got given it alost straight away at around 5.15am although the midwife reckoned it wasnt gunna be long i felt i needed it. then i felt like pushing, about 10mins after i got the pethidine so it didnt even kick in!! it was really painful and i kept saying silly things like 'i want a cesarian' (sp?) when the baby was half hanging out! lol but it was all worth it. as soon as he was born i felt so much better!! he is such a cutie and so good. i did try breastfeeding but it was sore and dh missed feeding the baby so we've decided to bottle feed. hes so content and sleeps like a dream! im so happy its finally over and i have my little man!

sorry for all of you that are suffering, i hope you all get your lo's soon! i should still be around to chat to you all, in between feeding and sleeping! dd been brilliant so far and just wants to hug and kiss him, im sure itl soon wear off tho!

NatalieJane · 05/11/2006 18:53

Awww Stacey, I have been waiting for your news I am so pleased you aren't still waiting round anymore!!

The birth sounds, erm... painful, but perfect!!

Welcome to the world Keiran, well done mummy

staceym11 · 05/11/2006 18:54

yeah felt painful, but acctually was really short and brill if i think about it, was only in the hosptial 2 hrs before he was born. so much for 10 mins is too far apart and stay at home a bit longer, id have ended up having him in the car!!!!

harrogatemum · 05/11/2006 19:00

congrats Stacym!!!

NatalieJane · 05/11/2006 19:01

I think especially with second timers they shouldn't go on about waiting until such and such, if you know you want/need to go to the hospital, they should just bloody well get on with it!

Are you feeling better now? Daft question I suppose because you will be feeling physically bad in other ways, but I mean more emotionally. Are you coping with the two of them?

xxxxx

well i have had a stinking horrible cold since friday and it's making me all miserable, i can't breathe!! i'm alternating between chomping on rennies and tunes and i'm smothered in vicks (which is making me feel all tngly and warm - quite pleasant) baby didn't stop moving from 5pm yesterdat until about 2 am, which kept me awake and then i had to pee every hour, not sleeping very well lately... boo.

hope everyone else is ok.. i've got consultant appointment early in the morning, oh joy. can't be bothered right now.

Kif · 05/11/2006 19:54

Ladies,

I have: 1 argos gym ball complete with two of what look like golf tees and one ball bump with needle.

Can anyone tell me how on earth I inflate it?

I've tried sticking the needle in the hole of the ball - it rattles and doesn't seem to put in much air. The golf tee things' hole doesn't go through to the bottom... is it some kind of plug? Or do i cut the bottom off to make a guide for the needle?

Help!

Charleesunnysunsun · 05/11/2006 20:02

Wow congrats Stacey and welcome to your little man

Mygirl im glad your ok i was worried there for a moment i hope everything isn't to bad at home.

Im having a bad evening i can't really type it all out again the thread i started is here the ladies have been really helpfull, i'm umming and ering as weather or not to go to the a&e at the moment i think i will leave it as ds has playschool in the morning and he missed friday so can't really miss it again.

DebbsyandBibby · 05/11/2006 20:04

congratulations stace on your lovely little boy keiran xx

DebbsyandBibby · 05/11/2006 20:04

oh my god babies popping everywhere lol

purpleluce · 05/11/2006 22:02

Really good luck ladies, will check in from time to time...for the record I was glad to be a home birth as again I thought I'd been through enough pain, called midwife to find I was 3cm (so would have been sent home from hospital!) I sent her away as felt like a fraud although she was v cool about it as knew things were quick last time. Went into "active labour" as she walked out of door and Sammy was born an hour and 5 mins later (7 mins after she arrived) DH was pooing himself, espec when I was saying get my trousers off....he refused to take my pants off telling me to pant (perhaps he thought would hold the baby in but then had to rip them off which is probably the last time that will happen for some time!

My top tips this time are - be realy well rested it is so gruelling (even quick ones) It really does +~#Xing hurt if you have forgotten but I reckon it pushes you to your own personal limits whatever they are and exercise balls are the way to go as both times my waters broke on mine and I birthed over it on all 4's and ended up with an intact perineum.

Obv far too much info but you never know if it may either come in handy or lift your spirits....wilkinsons cheap knickers so sexy your hubby has to rip them off you!

Mummy2Toby · 05/11/2006 23:29

Wow - Big congrats Stacey - you will have to come over to the other thread that CattyB and I are on - it's quite lonely over there and purpleluce of course and all others that have had their lo's. For everyone else - it won't be long now Take care all

Hattie05 · 05/11/2006 23:31

Congrats to purpleluce and stacey! Off to read your full version now purpleluce

NatalieJane · 05/11/2006 23:39

LMAO Purpleluce God I hope I can be that entertaining this time round!! LOL
Kif, both of the birthing balls I have have the same golf tee things, I realised (after completely ruining one pin thing for the pump) that actually yes, you should take the plug thing out, before you try to force the pin thing in!! I know it will depend on what pump you use, as to how much air goes in, but I found I was pumping for ages and thinking god this is going nowhere and then all of a sudden it was done all at once, if that is any help what so ever!!
Mygirl, hope everything seems a bit better today?
Sara, hope your cold starts getting better tomorrow.

Well, DH has had a very productive day today, he did all of the very last minute things in the babies room, touched up the paint work, where we had put the shelves up the drill had left trails of dust under every hole so he has covered it all up, and then he painted the hall again, we think it may only need one more coat - hooooorah!!! But as for the baby things, all I am waiting for now is the pool, which is being sent out tomorrow apparently, and then either tomorrow or Tuesday the pharmacist should be bringing the drugs, and the midwife should be bringing the equipment she will need, so that by Wednesday, which is when the midwives will be on call for me, we should be all up and running for the HB, and I am absolutely bricking it!!

We had a lovely evening though, we watched all the fireworks (we live up a bit of a mountain so can see the whole town below) and then we did sparklers in the garden, which I thought DS would run a mile from but he loved them!

NatalieJane · 05/11/2006 23:57

Charlee, I meant to say that I was going to read your other thread at the end of the last message, have now read it, and I don't really know what to suggest.

Obviously the girls on there have offered so much advice already, but what with your mum and DS, complete bed rest at home or at the hospital isn't likely really is it? It sounds like it will be worth your while asking at the GP's for an emergency appointment though, and the cruches/support belt thing sound promising.

I really don't know what else to say, if I think of anything or come across anything that might help I will of course let you know.

NatalieJane · 06/11/2006 01:44

Hello, me again...

It was obviously really worth me having a nice long sleep last night !! Contractions aren't so strong tonight, but strong enough to keep me awake, I have really bad heart burn again, the baby hasn't stayed still for 5 minutes since about 6.30 this evening, and I have breast milk (or what ever it is at this stage) literally pouring out of me, I have filled two lots of breast pads in 10 minutes.

This time 3 weeks ago when all of this started kicking off, I was thinking that the baby would be here by now, I actually had a nightmare about it carrying on till 42 weeks, and got really quite depressed about it for a couple of days, then I slowly came round to just accepting it, stopped counting contractions and stopped fretting about being absolutely shattered, and just did my best to get through the days and nights, now it has all of a sudden been three weeks, still no sleep, still contractions ranging from niggles to bloody painful, still loosing bits of my show here and there (how much more is still to come out I have no idea!) still no baby, and whats more, still not even any imediate signs of baby about to come! I know I am still a way of my EDD, and if the baby isn't ready to come then I don't want him to, but why does my body have to play these tricks for weeks and weeks?

And if one more person tells me I can't have much longer to go now, I'm not sure I will be able to smile sweetly and agree for the sake of it.

youngmum21 · 06/11/2006 08:27

morning all!!

Im still here today is day 8 and still no sign of lo appearing!!!
Went to see saw 3 last nite was hoping it mite scare me in to labour lol (it didnt) but felt really nervous being in a cinema with loads of ppl being 41 weeks pg!!!

Congratulations to all the new mummies and babies!!!!

FoghornLeghorn · 06/11/2006 08:50

Huge Congrats Stacey and welcome to your lovely little boy Well done you

I am wondering if my waters have started to go - TMI but everything feels extremely wet down there but nothing sort of coming away. I have noticed over the last few days I have been very dry but this morning as soon as I woke up I noticed it was different. How can I tell ?

fatbetty · 06/11/2006 09:31

Congratulations Stacey on your little man!! How exciting!

Hope you all had a good weekend. Had a lovely Saturday - had a pedicure so I have pretty toes to look at when pushing, and then had afternoon tea with friends. Just what the doctor ordered! Feeling a bit more rested today and like I can actually do stuff without falling apart or breaking down into tears.

Don't know much about waters breaking. They had to break my waters with DS1 and DS2 so figure they'll do that again this time.

FoghornLeghorn · 06/11/2006 09:45

Don't think it is my waters although this is what it was like with DD from what I can remember. I'm sure I woke up and spent ages wondering if they had gone or not and then when I decided they had and went to the hospital to be checked they completely gushed.

DH is working at least 2 hours away so what do I do - warn him that something might happen just in case, but then he will panic and wont be able to concentrate or keep schtum and wait to see what happens.

I hope this is it - it would've been DH's dad's birthday today but he passed away 5 years ago - would be so lovely to have the baby on his birthday

fatbetty · 06/11/2006 10:04

That would be lovely to have LO on DH's father's birthday. Maybe give the maternity ward a call. Maybe you could go in and get checked. ???

Kaybee7777 · 06/11/2006 10:23

Wow it's so exciting on here at the moment, there are babies popping out everywhere!

Huge congrats to the latest lot, Stacey and Eeyore, and what lovely names

Delia · 06/11/2006 10:31

Congratulations Stacey & Purpleluce nice to see some more boys popping on to the stats! hope your all well and the lads are settling into their new homes.

pinkmagic1 · 06/11/2006 10:35

Well, I'm now officially overdue for the 2nd time! Really fed up as have 2 false alarms over the weekend that have led to nothing. On friday night I had a few contractions and I could feel the head pushing right down, but a soon as I went to bed everything stopped! The same happened again last night. I think my babies must just be too comfy in there!
Congratulations to all those that have had their babies.
