So I'll more than likely get that test too then as I stopped the day I found out!

BleachedBarnet · 17/03/2015 13:14

Hi all, hope you had a great weekend, kep very sorry to hear your news.

Welcome to all newcomers. I'm 5+4 today and getting the sore boobs now, still no other symptoms. However, I do agree on the hormonal emotions, went to see Still Alice by myself and was sobbing in the cinema which I would never ever normally do. I haven't felt the freezing cold thing, but I'm always too hot so maybe that's why!

Realise this may sound crazy to a lot of the very well prepared people on here, but finally registered at a GP today, after 10 years without seeing a doctor. So next step to get an appointment there and then referral to my hospital.

I think I might be alone on this thread as an extremely laid back person... so far it's been just the two initial tests taken... reading here keeps making me feel I should buy more! Anyone else NOT that worried? I actually feel pretty ambivalent towards the pregnancy itself at the moment, it just doesn't feel real to me. That is in no way to say I'm not thrilled about it, I just day-to-day don't think about it too much.

CoffeeTwo · 17/03/2015 13:20

Oooh I'm freezing too! How odd!

Come August we'll have different complaints Wink

Crumbelina · 17/03/2015 13:29

Ha - I was the same NoMore - it took ages for them to get any blood out of my piddly little vein. Ooh, I didn't have a carbon monoxide test! Just had to answer "yes" or "no" for smoking and she moved on. At no point has anyone asked me to take a pregnancy test either.

Babs, I think I was there for about an hour and it's lots of health questions, form filling with basic details (address, next of kin, GP address), family health (not very detailed), where I want to give birth, due date, next steps, had I read the info about screening for Downs (nope - oops!) ... that's about it really. I have my scan date for bang on 12 weeks, then there's another midwife appointment at 16 weeks. They'll be wanting wee every time you visit.

Karmanna me and DH are the same - this whole year is going to be fun, with DIY arguments and my hormones flying about! Once we've got planning approved we're tearing down the kitchen, bathroom and a first floor bedroom. I may well be bringing a newborn baby home to half a house!

CishAndFips · 17/03/2015 13:32

Your not alone Bleached I have also been pretty laid back, other than the occasional bit of paranoid knicker checking. Have also only done one test. I'm thrilled and determined to enjoy every bit of this pregnancy I know if I start I'll drive myself crazy like I did with my last pregnancy.

newbian · 17/03/2015 13:37

Bleached I took two tests at home and then another urine test at the doctor around 5 weeks, but I haven't done anything since.

I was somewhat worried b/c of lack of symptoms, until I hit about 6+6. I've been nauseous and suffering from loss of appetite for the past week, and completely exhausted. Now I feel stupid for having worried...I feel like crap all day so I'm pretty sure I'm still pregnant Envy

TwoBeesInTheHive · 17/03/2015 13:38

bleachedbarnet I'm not worried. I'm not at all a worrier. dh is though. I'm on my third and apart from ending up with an emcs last time both previous pregnancies have been very straight forwards and drama free so I'm pretty chilled. I also keep forgetting I'm pregnant but that might have something to do with chasing two toddlers around all day Grin

BleachedBarnet · 17/03/2015 13:41

Glad to hear I'm not alone Grin I keep catching myself feeling guilty for not worrying more! Everyone I've told (parents and best friend) is much more excited than me at the moment. TwoBees my boyfriend is a major worrier too, we'll see how that goes

Crumbelina · 17/03/2015 13:42

Bleached I haven't been too bad either. I had a health scare late last year and was convinced I was going to be develop MS after a bout of Optic Neuritis (never had any health problems before). I spent about 3 months really stressing myself out and once I got the all clear I vowed never to get that stressed again. Cue the BFP about a week later! Since then I've had a couple of minor worries about cramping but that's about it.

Karmanna13 · 17/03/2015 13:42

Haha, Crumbelina, rather you than me! Are you doing it all yourself then?!

Bleached I am feeling very relaxed this time, probably because it's my second and my first pregnancy and birth was a doddle; no morning sickness or really any aches and pains until the very end, a 2 hour labour and 13 minutes of pushing. I suppose I'm assuming this pregnancy and birth will be the same but I probably won't be that lucky!

Crumbelina · 17/03/2015 13:43

Oh, and I've only taken 2 tests. The first was a super strong line and I only did the second because my sister wanted me to. Smile

Karmanna13 · 17/03/2015 13:45

Wow, that comment looks very insensitive under your comment Crumbelina. I was of course referring to DIY and not your health scare! Blush

Crumbelina · 17/03/2015 13:47

Yep, we're doing most of it ourselves, Karmanna. We mortgaged ourselves to the hilt to buy a wreck (clever!). We'll have professionals doing the extension build but DH has decided to project manage - urg! I'll probably end up fitting the kitchen at 9 months ... Smile

Crumbelina · 17/03/2015 13:48

Ha ha! I knew exactly what you were talking about. Grin

Karmanna13 · 17/03/2015 13:50

Phew!

Babs10 · 17/03/2015 14:12

I've only taken one test! Should I have taken more? Confused My partner is the laid back one like he's horizontal most of the time!

BleachedBarnet · 17/03/2015 14:16

Babs I only took two because there were two in the pack! Grin

Babs10 · 17/03/2015 14:21

Bleached I had a pack of 2 but still only used 1! Lol. I'll save the second one! ??

BowiesJumper · 17/03/2015 15:08

Haha, as we were TTC, I had a load of internet cheapies, so I did quite a few, AND a couple of clear blue so I could see the weeks indicators, and a couple of superdrug ones. I wanted to be sure!! Blush

So as I'm still spotting a bit, I rang my midwives and they said to go to the early pregnancy unit for a scan, just to be safe - but they couldn't refer me, I had to ring my doctor for that. Fortunately the doc rang me back really quickly and has faxed off the referral, so I'm just waiting for the EPU to ring me back with an appointment now! I'm guessing it will probably be tomorrow now. Fingers crossed all is well!

Bowies I have my finger crossed for you. We were TTC too but we were just taking it month by month, we were in no rush and defo didn't expect it to happen so quickly after me coming off the pill but couldn't be happier!

Dixiebell · 17/03/2015 15:36

I've never had to do a carbon monoxide test iirc...but maybe they've changed the rules since my last booking in 3 years ago?

Just booked my booking in this morning, gotta wait until week 9, I'm only week 4 now! It's an hour long appointment. There are loads of detailed questions about your medical/family history etc. And if my midwives anything to go by, lots of waiting around while they find the right forms/bemoan the lack of correct forms, find the right container for blood/urine or bemoan the lack of....etc.

BleachedBarnet · 17/03/2015 15:38

At the end of that day everyone's different aren't they, and I'm 100% sure that if it had taken time for me to conceive I'd be POAS every month Grin

I'm getting bad headaches today, maybe lack of coffee, maybe the start of a migraine - I've read they get better for regular migraine sufferers during pregnancy - can anyone testify to that? Would be a major plus!

Dixiebell · 17/03/2015 15:39

Also, was going to say for ladies worrying about lack of symptoms, I never had any in either of my first two pregnancies, no sickness, no aching boobs or anything, and they were both fine, so don't worry. (Plenty of aching and symptoms later!) But I do remember each time fearing that at the 12 week scan they'd say, don't be so silly there's nothing there! It's such a massive relief to see an actual real life baby on the screen at that point. So I'm saying...don't worry, but know that worrying is normal..! Grin

CoffeeTwo · 17/03/2015 15:50

Bowies keeping everything crossed for you lovely.

I've done 9 tests so far and I imagine I'll do more. In the last 8 months of ttc I had TWO false positives. I'm certain they weren't chemicals. So I don't trust home tests anymore. It's an expensive habit!
