Morning Ladies!

Just a quickie from me, feeling very sick today. Not looking forward to the 1 and 1/2 hour trip to dd1 nursery and back.

Told my mum i'm pregnant last night, didn't get the bad reaction i was expecting although she wasn't exactly pleased for me. Don't blame her really, after all i am only young, but then i'll have my life as the girls (i have 2 dds, i think i'm expecting this one to be a dd too ) get older.

Not looking forward to telling dps parents although i don't really think they'll give a cr*p anyways. They aren't even interested in dd2, everything is all about dd1 for them soooooooo .

Doggus - agree with everyone else re knowing what to do with baby. I had never changed a nappy, and had held 2 babies in my life befroe i had dd1. It's amazing how when baby comes you just know what to do, and the things you dont "automatically" know, the midwife helps you with, and so will the many books and leaflets you will be given along the way.

Flabbergasted - I am so excited for you! This is probably something you never thought you would experience and now you are going through it. Just had to tell you that. Everytime i read one of your posts i smile thinking about how your bub came to be after all that trying with IVF etc.

QoQ - sorry must have got you mixed up with someone else. I also know the date of my conception , did your mw go by your date or your LMP? Because i can't remember mine! Seems like forever ago.

I dont get a 12 week scan in my area, i'll have a loooooooong 11 week wait for mine .

9 Weeks today!

Welcome Bouncy!

sputnik · 03/11/2006 10:32

Just dug out an interesting article about MS here apparently we should be eating more cereals and pulses. Might give it a go.
LOL Marylou at you and the boiler, I had a major breakdown at the weekend over something totally silly, have managed to keep things on an even keel since then though.

doggus · 03/11/2006 14:04

Sputnik - thank you for the link. I am going to give it a go, but can only imagine the maelstrom of farting after All Bran and lentils all day.

sputnik · 03/11/2006 14:27

We'll be getting that soon anyway!

sputnik · 03/11/2006 14:40

Sarahsausage, hope you survived the epic buggy-pushing trip, you will be the fittest of all of us come birth, with the possible exception of Aylesbury if she keeps up her gym attendance.

annobal · 03/11/2006 15:01

Am I going mad or does anyone else do this - I find myself standing in front of the fridge wanting something to eat and not able to find anything I want. Even when I go to the shop I look at everything and nothing is quite right! So I end up just eating what is there to excess as it is the only thing that stops me feeling sick. Like the article on MS - poor Charlotte Bronte!

annobal · 03/11/2006 15:05

There is a great recipe in Tana Ramsey's new cookbook re Chicken, Carrots and lentils. DH and the kids all love it - and if the article is correct - can help MS as well...

If anyone's interested I can copy it out here.

marylou23 · 03/11/2006 15:10

Hello again!PizPizPiz, I would say a resounding 'yes', you do start showing early - I am, anyway. Bizarrely, when I weighed myself a week ago I'd actually lost weight (that'll be the ms I guess...) but my stomach is huge. Can't pull it in, either; makes no difference. Actually, MS has improved in last few days - still rumbling, but nowhere near as bad. And chocolate really does help - it always seems very unappetising when I open up a bar (tough life), but once I've had a bite... well, let's just say that my large stomach may not be entirely pregnancy-related... (Still, I heard that with twins you have to eat, eat, eat, so who am I to disagree?). Still knackered, though. I work at home, and don't know how I'd cope if I didn't - I'm sleeping 12 hours a night, having breakfast, then lying down for a little nap! And Doggus, I haven't got a clue, either, so don't worry! At least, not until the summer starts to approach...

doggus · 03/11/2006 15:22

Annobal - that is exactly how I feel. I am starving, but nothing feels 'right'. I went round the supermarket realy slowly to try to find what i wanted to eat, nothing. It hasn't stopped me eating like a hog, just nothing is satisfying.

Can I say again, thank you to all who have posted about how clueless they are too. It does make me feel so much better, as everyone I see, be it on telly or in a supermarket looks supremely confident.

sputnik · 03/11/2006 17:11

Totally agree Annobal and Doggus, trying to decide what to cook for dinner is near impossible and supermarkets make me queasy.
Also, is it just me or is anyone else getting clumsier? I partially demolished a low wall (ours thankfully) with the car today and that's the second time I've scraped the car since getting pg . Similar incidents from my last pg included smashing a friend's treasured ornament while putting a scarf on, and spilling a whole glass of orange juice over DH in a restaurant while trying to separate some chopsticks. Stand clear everyone!

lilKel · 03/11/2006 17:30

Just want to say, soooo glad I'm not the only one who eats to stop feeling sick (when I can find something I can fathom chewing, anyway). Also lost weight (!) but tummy protruding a disturbing distance already!! Yikes! I guess I asked for it, DS is only 8mo...

Doggus - got our furniture from M&Papas and actually they do full delivery & assembly. If your DH is anything like mine, it's def worthwhile

question: how do you eat cereals when the thought of milk makes your throat close up? And pls don't tell me it's pureed lentils you should use instead, I can only take so much!!

Roll on 2nd trimester!!!

annobal · 03/11/2006 18:21

Am also thinking that it is not just food I can't make a decision on. DS' in bed and DH out tonight - I have my pick of the tv/movies on sky and can't find anything - have just spent 15 minutes flicking!! (So decided to come on-line and complain - am now going downstairs to look in the fridge again...)

PS - if milk makes you gag, try rice dream - not as strong as milk and no smell!

bumperlicious · 03/11/2006 18:33

Bugger this eating healthy food malarky, I'm just pleased to what I can when I can which at the moment is chocolate cornflake mostly. Although this morning I had a cooked breakfast at work, and it made me feel so much better I had to eat the same for my dinner tonight. Yes! Two days gone by where I've eaten 3 meals! Will I ever eat normally again.

I've got 3 Xmas meals booked with various work colleagues, costing me a fortune and I bet I'm not going to be able to eat any of them. Plus I'll be grumpy coz I'll be the only one not drinking! (though the thought of alcohol makes me want to hurl at the moment - actually, so does the word hurl!)

Ah, the musings of a manic pregnant lady...

lilKel · 03/11/2006 19:07

a-ha yes, rice milk, a throwback to my veggie days. Thx will give it a go!!

pls tell me someone else is going to bed at 8pm these days (and not doing gym workouts in the morning...) feeling a right fat blob in my jim jams at the mo

marylou23 · 03/11/2006 19:21

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I fell asleep in front of the television at 9pm last night and could barely drag myself up to bed an hour later. As for pyjamas, that's all I want to wear. Is anyone else peeing about four times during the night too? Feel very bad for DH because he gets up super early for work and works v. long days - currently he's exhausted because I'm waking him up all through the night (good practise for breastfeeding maybe??!!. Re. food, I'm the same - nothing appeals. And once I've eaten something I then go off it for at least a day - cheese and crackers was my big thing yesterday; today I can't look at a chunk. Oh, the joys. WHen does the blooming bit start when you look amazing and start glowing with energy?!!

megandsoph · 03/11/2006 20:16

yep mary-lou up atleast 2 times during the night night for the toilet, what a nightmare!!

Well went for my booking appointment today and have been told due to dd2 weighing 5 pound 9 I have to have a consultant based birth which I'm quite surprised at but apparently it just means I will get more scans which will be great as I'm a BIG time worrier. Also was a bit concerned that the midwife couldn't find a heartbeat as I'm sure at 11 wks I could hear both dd's but can't rememeber for sure. Has anyone else not been able to hear their babies heart beat at this gestation??

megandsoph · 03/11/2006 20:17

sorry not a consultant based birth I mean rather than midwifery led anti natel care, will recive consultant based care Doh

doggus · 03/11/2006 23:21

LilKel - you have just made a worried man very happy.

On baby shopping - what is the difference between Mamas and Papas and Mothercare? Is one more upmarket/expensive than the other?

Florentine · 04/11/2006 20:12

Just realised - what is great about having a June due date is we can tell people our news in Xmas cards as will have had our scans done by then!

peachygirl · 05/11/2006 10:18

Just to let you guys know I have sent trace2 an email to check she is OK
Best wishes to all you june ladies!!

BouncyTigger · 05/11/2006 14:48

Doggus, M&P generally a bit more expensive and only stock their own brand of stuff, whilst Mothercare stock loads of different peoples including their own. Really it's just a case of shopping around till you find stuff you like and in your price range. However the thing that amused me about M&P when we had DD was the complete lack of pictures of babies in their catalogue just lots of beautiful looking adults.

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/11/2006 16:22

Hi,
Newbie here! Due 10 Jun. Can I join? This is my first and not sure what to expect. Will be great to share experiences, especially as haven't told anyone yet so got no-one to moan to!

lilKel · 05/11/2006 18:59

LOL Bouncy... didn't notice that in the M&P catalogue even though I must've looked through it a billion times trying to decide what to buy.....
