Due 27th June, have ds who will be two in December. Commented to DH yesterday that I didn't think you could tell I was PG yet, he looked at me and said you definately could, shattering my self-delusion. Boobs like Dolly P and soooooo tender, could scream when DS jumps on me and having to sleep in my bra...

sputnik · 31/10/2006 09:58

sounds like some of our partners and husbands could learn a bit of tact! Don't they realise we don't actually want to be looking pregnant quite yet?

mrspf · 31/10/2006 10:00

Hi Magaddict,

I am also due end-June with a DD who will be 2 in Dec so we will have a similar age gap between ours. I am really excited about my tummy getting bigger and talking to DD about the baby inside, as I think she will understand a bit. My waistline has also started to expand and I will be trying on my old maternity jeans at the weekend to check they fit (I was a dress size smaller when I was pg before). I keep checking my boobs are still big, as when I mc before, they started to loose their firmness in the days before I started to bleed, so having them there is a really encouraging sign.

sarahsausage · 31/10/2006 10:26

Another one here with 3rd bump. And i also took the morning after pill...

QoQ - i think i remember that you'd had a scan already? is that because you took the MAP? i (still) havent been to the docs yet or booked mw appt. Think i'm still in denial!

Lilkel - Not seen you on for a few days, dying to know if those preggie pops work!

Am i mad or what? After spending 2 years as a SAHM, i am now, yes now at 8 weeks pregnant, lookig for a job! Think i'll temp until baby comes then look for a permenant one after.

I wouldn't know if my tummy is expanding, well it is but don't think it's because of baby, think it's all the crp i'm eating. Made the same mistake with dd1 and dd2, found it really hard to shift that exta "i'm gonna get fat so i may as well eat crp" weight.

As if i'm going to be worrying about losing weight though with 3 under 5's ! lol

PizPizPiz · 31/10/2006 10:46

sputnik - I can't wait to have a big bump to show the whole world

flabbergasted · 31/10/2006 10:49

Hello - Sputnik invited me along.

I'm 39, frankly astounded to find myself pregnant, due (all being well) in June and concerned I'll be rubbish at the whole maternity thing.
I must say everyone I've met on Mumsnet so far has been very friendly. I'd never even have heard of MN had it not been for She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and her legal action. Every cloud, eh?

sarahsausage · 31/10/2006 11:00

Welcome flabbergasted!

I just read your thread on the pregnancy board....

CONGRATULATIONS

PocketTasha · 31/10/2006 11:01

hi sarahsausage, i know what you mean about eating cr*p. I did that with my last two and am desperate not to make the same mistake again... But at the same time scared of not eating enough too... Always have big ideas about how breast feeding will help me shift it later... never goes quite the way i expect it to though!

flabbergasted · 31/10/2006 11:16

As an elderly first-timer who spent so long concentrating on the conception hurdle that everything afterwards is pretty much terra incognita
.... I would like to minimise my weight gain while ensuring my little passenger isn't doing without. Any tips?
Also: dental care - I know of people whose teeth really suffered during pregnancy. I'd love some advice.

alexh · 31/10/2006 11:40

Afraid am dropping out. HAd missed miscarriage - no heartbeats at scan yesterday. Should have been 8+$. Good luck all

PizPizPiz · 31/10/2006 11:46

sorry to hear that alexh

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 31/10/2006 11:51

so sorry AlexH

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 31/10/2006 11:52

sausage - no haven't had a scan yet - got my booking in on Thursday with the MW = and my scan on the 22nd November.....I'm 9 weeks exactly today.

flabbergasted · 31/10/2006 12:03

Very sorry Alexh

annobal · 31/10/2006 12:38

So sorry AlexH

annobal · 31/10/2006 12:42

Flabbergasted - I loosely followed the Gentle Birth Method (Gowri Motha) for DS2 and didn't put on much weight - what I did put on came off very quickly afterwards - 2 weeks and I weighed my usual 60kg. I also found that eating too much wheat and sugar gave me thrush and terrible indigestion.

Juicylucythe2nd · 31/10/2006 12:55

AlexH - sorry

PocketTasha · 31/10/2006 13:21

Alexh, i'm so sorry

sputnik · 31/10/2006 14:06

Oh Alexh, that must have been so disappointing and upsetting, I'm so sorry for you.

Daisybump · 31/10/2006 14:12

Not posted for a week and there are all these new people....welcome and hello and all that.

AlexH - so sorry to hear your news

Been keeping my head down for a bit (mainly the toilet LOL) as had a bit of pain and bleeding middle of last week. But, had a scan at the EPU on Friday and everything seems OK. Midwife thinks I've been overdoing things (weekends in Blackpool, decorating, looking after a friends kids for two days as well as my own DS...you get the picture) so DH has me sitting with my feet up and won't let me do anything ( long may it last!!). It was great to see a heartbeat after 2 m/c...especially as I'd convinced myself it was all over. We've christened this one 'lucky'...short for 3rd time lucky.
MS not too bad....just a constant feeling of nausea that only abates for about half an hour after I've eaten, lasts till 3 o'clock in the afternoon and then makes me want to crawl into bed and sleep for a week.

Feeling a bit pooey the last two days...my beloved cat got killed on the road on Saturday , and we didn't find him until Sunday. DS devastated.

Hope everyone is well

sputnik · 31/10/2006 15:25

About gaining weight..
I gained loads last time around as I completely lost the ability to tell when I was full, I'd finish a meal and could've happily started again at the beginning. Mostly healthy stuff not crap, but still. I was also under the illusion I would lose it all BF and while this seems to be true for many it wasn't for me, just made me hungrier.
It's only now that with a bit of appetite loss I am back to nearly my pre (last) pregnancy weight, so my old wardrobe might get a bit of an airing for a couple of weeks! I am hoping to have a bit more self-control this time, annobal does this gentle birth thing give you a diet to follow? More info welcome.
Mrspf and pizpizpiz.. so glad someone wants to look pg. Having a proper bump is not too bad, its the looking fat but not pg bit that's annoying. I too am looking forward to explaining the bump to DD but there's plenty of time for that.
Flabbergasted please stop going on about how old you are you're the same age as me and there are older than us on this thread

Juicylucythe2nd · 31/10/2006 15:52

I'm desperate for my bump to be noticeable as a bump. Just looks like a bloated stomach at the moment

As well as being desperate to get past 20wks, start maternity leave, have the baby and all the rest of it... patient type me

Juicylucythe2nd · 31/10/2006 15:54

Oh yes as well as desperate to be one of those rare mums who are a dress size SMALLER 3 months after giving birth...FAT CHANCE

(especially if it means giving up sausage rolls )

annobal · 31/10/2006 16:01

Re Gentle Birthing Method - there is a diet to follow - but it is more general foods to avoid and according to what "type" you are more specific foods. It also becomes more strict as it goes along - I can remember being hooked on Starbucks muffins and being "allowed" one pretty much every day til about 32 weeks (I think).
The book also recommends that you do yoga every day (and these exercises also change depending on stage in pregnancy). I have to say I don't think I concentrated on the "self hypnosis" part enough - or was crap at it - as that part didn't work for me.
Will def be following diet and yoga again this time although I didn't buy any of the food but did buy the book which I found really useful. If you want to know more, the website is here

magaddict · 31/10/2006 16:33

Hi Mrspf - and everyone else

good luck with those jeans - I can't believe I did this but I chucked out all of my maternity clothes after last PG as I was sick of the sight of them - knew I didn't want an only one so I don't know what I was thinking...been shopping today as couldn't spend another day in too tight bra - nice M & S fitter kept having to go and get bigger and bigger ones...in my young, wild youth I wore tops smaller than the bras I bought today to go out in, but the comfort!!! Good job I am already pregnant though, talk about passion killers. Also looked for a book (I have heard of but can't remember name) which is a story book for toddlers about a baby coming to the family - a bit vague I know but has anyone heard of anything like this?
