Penguin, at the moment the Snuzpod looks like a box in our front hall! I'm not ready to have an empty crib in our bedroom with us for the next two and a half months, and we can't store it in the nursery until that's been redecorated, so hall it is. But if we need to get it up unexpectedly, it's there, which is the most important thing.

FiRaffe, it's weird but I feel so much better having somewhere to sleep sorted even though there's a good chance sorting the nursery may take a while longer. After all, the baby will be in with us for the first few months. But DH and I have a Strategy Meeting planned for Tuesday night to discuss what kit we still need to buy and how we're going to go about obtaining it. We had a quick look at buggies in our local baby shop when we picked the Snuzpod up yesterday and I have to admit that I'm feeling totally petrified and overwhelmed at the range of stuff available.

Welcome cute!

I've taken my rings off too. Was really hot on Friday and I got myself panicking that I wouldn't be able to get them off if I left it any longer. Feel quite sad about it as my wedding and engagement rings are the only jewellery I wear. Hope I remember where I've hide them in a few months time.

kismac · 02/02/2015 08:26

Eeeww Daholster, that doesn't sound nice. Hope it doesn't mean anything.

Anyone else's lips horrendously dry. I think I'm going to spend the final few weeks smothering myself in moisturiser from top to toe.

Just eaten a chocolate muffin on the train and I now have crumbs in my bra. Ha ha.

LOL for the bra crumbs kismac!

Daholster have a rest. I sometimes get that feeling too, just discharge and you're right it always feels massive but isn't. Now I have the panty liners in everyday.

daholster · 02/02/2015 08:57

Yep smogs, nothing dreadful has happened since I got up so I am sure it's just discharge. Yuck! Last time I had a suspected hindwater leak at 27 weeks which came through my trousers Blush but was never confirmed. Thankfully it settled. The hospital said it was likely just discharge but there wasn't anything to check (wasn't wearing a pad) but I was not convinced. A particular male colleague at work was teasing saying "oh after all that fuss and rushing off you just wet yourself then, lol"... But our usual banter but was not welcome, I was really embarrassed and annoyed! At the time I was on medication that made my wee BRIGHT yellow, it wasn't wee!!! A week later my usual midwife said it was perhaps a sealed hindwater leak (it stopped after a couple of days) and the week later my GP agreed. If I'd have been able to say that (whether it was or wasn't!) I would have been less embarrassed and felt more justified in my two days off work!!!

Brr it is minus 1.5 here.
kis I had to take my engagement ring off too-replaced it with a bigger one I had hanging around. Had to put something there as didn't want to look like "the engagement is off" or something! Sausage fingers!
Yea my mouth is so dry all night. But don't want to drink too much as fed up with weeing once an hour anyway!!
Ugh we had curry last night and it now seems I am having curry for breakfast too as its repeated all night and still now. It's weird, I thought we were meant to get really hungry now but I'm not that hungry-or the hunger impulse isn't there?

Lauren82000 · 02/02/2015 09:46

Ah yes the huge amount of discharge. Nothing more worrying than that sudden gush of something between your legs that sends you rushing to the loo to check everything is ok.

I had a damp patch issue last night, I'd nipped to the loo at about 1 and just as I got back to bed I got very wet all of a sudden Confused soaked through to my pj bottoms. We had dtd 5 hours earlier and for some reason I had retained fluids Blush and they decided to come out after my wee? I'd been to the loo 3 times before that and nothing had happened. Think someone is going to be wearing a condom from now on to avoid such incidents. Wink

daholster · 02/02/2015 09:51

chicken yes but also the digestive ayatem gets squished, and slowed by the hormones too... so food can hang around longer. I get starving and eat lots and it feels so satisfying then I'm full for about 3 days and don't want much at all except maybe fruit!

Just booked my Hollywood and full leg and underarm hot wax for this afternoon. First one. I am TERRIFIED! Dad is coming over to look after dd and give me a day of relaxation - baths and naps... and now a "beauty treatment" - not sure how much he needs to know, but the way I will hobble when I get in he might guess!!! EEK!!!

BrixtonBunny · 02/02/2015 10:19

Hello - have been a bit rubbish at keeping up the last few days as have some horrid virus (sore throat, cold, headache, even more knackered). Have decided to call in sick today even though I'm so busy at the moment, thought it was better to rest and hopefully feel better sooner. Feel very guilty for doing so though.

I'm lucky in that my bump is still (really) low so heartburn hasn't been an issue yet. But yes to horrid dry mouth all night - definitely made worse by cold too, as my nose is so blocked that I'm sure I'm snoring all night. Sexy.

We've started booking builders in to come over and give us quotes so we can start work next week hopefully as soon as we complete on Friday! It's a very ambitious timetable but hoping to get most big things done by the 18th March when we will move in. That will then hopefully give us a little bit of time to sort rest out before baby turns up (due 8th April) - though don't think it will be the relaxing mat leave I had in mind... Hmm

Ordered the car seat and base yesterday so all the big baby purchases are now made!

Will read back properly now.

30+5

BrixtonBunny · 02/02/2015 10:21

Annia our snuzpod is also sitting in a box at the moment, but we've got the mattress, mattress protector and sheets so should be good to go when we put it up. Can't wait!

smogsville · 02/02/2015 10:23

Good luck getting better Brixton. V exciting re builders, now's the time to nab them, before they get started on other big jobs.

Have just been told off (perfectly nicely) by hospital for not carrying my notes with me at all times. Rang up to book c section pre-assessment appointment and didn't have my hospital number to hand. Are you all schlepping yours everywhere with you?

LadyNovember · 02/02/2015 10:25

Oh I thought it was just me with the dry mouth...yay for being normal.

For those of you struggling with heartburn, check if the minor ailments scheme is available in your area..you can get gaviscon free from your pharmacy on the scheme, only the liquid but worth knowing about.

I have a hernia so have always had heartburn constantly, my gp took me off lansoprazole when I fell pregnant, and gave me Ranitidine (Zantac, someone mentioned earlier) it's pants, and I so badly want omeprazole which someone else mentioned, (and is safe in pregnancy) but my gp point blank refuses. I have no idea why!

TheBooMonster · 02/02/2015 10:28

daholster you'll need to give us an update on that wax, I might get everything done

For people packing hospital bags I've just had this months project B box through and it's got glucose tablets in and the company that does then also does a glucose drink in a shot sized bottle. I'll wait till DH gets back to try it but as he's trying to cut out caffeine some of those might be a good replacement for energy drinks, and because they're teeny they'll fit into the gaps in the bags.

BananaToast · 02/02/2015 10:44

smog I am now carrying my notes with me after having to go home and get them before going to hospital for reduced movements a few weeks ago. It's quite reassuring knowing they're with me and not much hassle, just means I can't carry a small handbag any more.

Bought lots of baby bits this weekend (having finally been paid!) - some giant muslins, manual breast pump, microwave steriliser, nappy bin, a shelf for the nursery wall... lots of the less essential but nice to have things. Still need to order a car seat and base. Wish I'd done it a few weeks ago when John Lewis were still doing last year's Cabriofix for £95 - it's out of stock now and the new season ones are on for £135! It's still available on some online only shops but JL won't price match them and we have vouchers to spend. Hopefully if I wait a few more weeks the price might come down a little (doubtful).

29+0.

daholster · 02/02/2015 10:50

boo I even just added eyebrows! It will be all gone! And I will be a quivering wreck!

Just catching up, I have missed a lot!

Brixton hooray for exchange! On with the building work (when do you complete?)

Banana you are St George's is that right? I just found out they have changed the rules so partners are now allowed to stay with you overnight on the post natal ward. Obviously the MLU and then straight home would be better, but in case you do end up in post natal for whatever reason, at least you can have your OH there.

Loving the wallpaper daholster - I would vote top left or bottom right. (is bottom right sort of farmyardy?)

Congratulations on setting your wedding date Lady (and good luck finding a dress!!) so sorry to hear of your DP's father and grandfather - poor him.

No heartburn here definitely got the constipation though. If I have to go on iron tablets (waiting for results today) I guess it will get even worse, sigh.

Damp patches/gushes - do get them checked out! With DD I had a couple of small gushes at 33+6 (enough to go through clothes and leave a damp patch on the chair Blush), I was on my way to hosp to get checked and on the way my waters broke completely and I then went into labour... Not to scare anyone but!! Actually I did get checked out last week as I thought I'd been a bit wet but all looked fine.

Which makes me think... I'm now 31+2 so that's less than 3 weeks away from the point where DD was born. Argh. Must pack hospital bag.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/02/2015 10:57

Absolutely not smogsville! Didn't even take mine when we went up to skeggie for fil funeral which may have been silly!

My discharge sometime trickles too and has been pretty heavy through my pregnancy daholster, glad you're having a chilled out day, despite it not all being pleasant Wink and I also have a similar problem Lauren82000 but always several hours afterwards, whether I'm pregnant or not though.

My lips are always dry during winter and digestion does slow later in pregnancy as well as everything just being generally squashed. I have actually lost weight in the last few weeks, only 0.5Kg but considering how much bigger I feel it must be a genuine loss of weight from somewhere else.

My new little boy started today, he cried and hit me when his mum left and once he'd had a cuddle and calmed down he wouldn't look at me Sad has got more chatty and is playing happily now but after such a good start with his settling in session last week, it took me a little by surprise!

minipie · 02/02/2015 10:57

Ah cross posted Brixton good luck on Friday!

smogs yep I am carrying them everywhere unless we're only going somewhere local. Anything over about half an hour away and I'm taking them. I also have to carry my blood sugar testing kit everywhere... though actually I've run out of test strips (midwife put the wrong ones on the prescription) so haven't actually been testing since Thursday... hope I don't get into trouble but not much I could do about it!

smogsville · 02/02/2015 11:02

Ah yes Banana I remember you saying now.

Cinnamon - I'm just being lazy as they're quite heavy aren't they. On my at home days I'm invariably in our hood and within 5-10 mins walk from home. If I take them everywhere with me I'll just spend the rest of my time leaving them in waitrose/ nursery/ boots/ the library/ some cafe or other. Might start putting them in bag on work days though if I remember.

When I was preg with DD I took them everywhere with me from about 12 wks! Funny how lax you become with a second.

Cinnamon good luck with your newbie.

Daholster - look forward to hearing how it feels to be completely smooth from top to toe Wink

AnniaFausta · 02/02/2015 11:09

Boo, I've just had the project B box through -my first! (Think it was you who mentioned it existed too, so thank you.) More samples than I was expecting, but quite helpful to know what's out there, plus a tiny baby bottle, so am feeling we're gaining more kit without intending to ;)

However, one of the things in said box was disposable breast pads, and my inner green conscience went 'NO' loudly at the thought of using these apart from during the chaotic first week or two post-birth. I remember somebody mentioned they'd bought reusable/washable ones - if it was you or you have bought/used some, could you tell me where you got them from?

I am not getting anything more than my usual 3/4 leg wax done in the run-up. I'm sure the medical staff are used to female body hair by this point, and I'd feel more uncomfortable if I'd had something done that's so different to what I usually do. YMMV, obviously.

TinyTear · 02/02/2015 11:21

Hello all, not much time to catch up, but am now at the MIL's for a week... Hope I will last although the bed is killing my hips...

30+2 and bump is biiiig... DH and DD out walking up hills and I am sitting by the fire today...

Hope everyone is well

daholster · 02/02/2015 11:21

Annia I always wanted to be brave enough to try it but was worried about infections. I'm like a flipping forest if I don't keep on top of it and I am not very good at making it look good... So I get lazy. But I would love to feel like I look nice down there! Its for me to feel better about myself now and on the day and after, not for the midwife and doctors who I know won't care (an got the full - slightly trimmed - brunt of it last time!) It crosses my mind now and then to give it a go then I chicken out. Something triggered me to seriously consider it a few weeks ago but I am so worried about ingrowing hairs etc. I have done some reading though - I will be exfoliating etc and being careful and hoping that a few waxes down the line it will become so much finer it won't be so much of a problem. If I am brave enough to stick with it!!! I have also seen clashing info about whether it increases or decreases risk of infection postnatally with any cuts or whathaveyou so I decided not to factor it in.

Wonder if I will graduate to something like a Brazilian but like I said I don't grow very neatly so not sure it would ever really look nice!

What a conversation Blush

Whooping cough jab this evening too!!!
