Couldn't see a new thread so thought I'd make one. Congratulations to all the mummies so far. Looking forward to hearing lots more birth stories. Good luck for those still to go.

Good work, Eliza. Looking forward to hearing about all the lovely babies!

Busy day today: have a MW apt and then there's no stopping me for my 200 mile trip to see parents, DGP, uncles, aunts, cousins etc from Wed-Sun. Will be 38+2 by the end of it, so could well give birth away from home! (But where I was born...)

Was quite relaxed about all of it except journey but now have a raging urine infection & the A&E at the hospital down there is on the list of overstretched ones. Need to call them to check maternity is running ok.

HenriettaTurkey · 06/01/2015 08:58

Oh and many many congratulations, Madrigals!!

Pesto11 · 06/01/2015 09:28

Thanks for the new thread.

Congratulations madrigals
What a day and night for you!

Great news to wake up to!

LittlePink · 06/01/2015 09:31

Congratulations mads! Good work. 14 hrs is better than 46! So there's hope for me after dd was 43!

Sweep number 2 for me tomorrow. If I don't go in the next week it's an elcs next tues/ weds. No pressure then baby! A lot can happen in a week I keep telling myself Confused

LittlePink · 06/01/2015 09:34

Oh henrietta a uti?? How horrible. Poor you. Have you got antibiotics? That's the last thing you need right at the end.

HenriettaTurkey · 06/01/2015 09:46

Fraid so, LittlePink. I've been on antibiotics for 5 days and it's done nothing :( worried they'll say I can't travel. I'd be completely gutted!

blizy · 06/01/2015 09:49

Thanks for the new thread.
Congratulations madrigals!
Growth scan yesterday shows my "wee" guy is on the 95th percentile, yikes! I'm glad I don't have to push the heifer out!
I have a pre op on Friday with steroids and a CTG with more steroids on Saturday, then it's the final countdown until the 15th. This shit is getting real!
36+5

jobrum · 06/01/2015 10:01

Thanks for the thread.
What lovely news Madrigals!
Bligh, I've not had any scans but the growth chart has me measuring into the 90th centile, on track for a baby 9lb something. I am tiny, I just can't see how a baby that big is hiding in there! I have been having episodes of BH with horrible back achey period type pains over the last couple of days, once on Sunday and then three times during yesterday. It lasts for a good half hour and they hurt more than the normal BH. I'm really hoping its a sign labour is on its way. Mostly as there is still two weeks til my due date but I'm already getting the 'any sign yet?' text messages...

Henritetta, feel for you and your uti, they are bad enough when not pregnant.

38+3

Pesto11 · 06/01/2015 10:48

jo
I've been having those strong period cramp like pains since last week
Today tho it's spreading round to my back.

Painful at times
Please let it be labour! I'm 40+3
They've also told me that I'm measuring big and I'm tiny- don't know how it's gna come out!!!

chiruri · 06/01/2015 11:28

Congratulations hula and mads! So exciting.
I'm in the same camp as those with period crampy pains. I've had them for a good week now and at my sweep yesterday I was still closed and posterior Sad. Sweep wasn't awful, just rather uncomfy. Ended up feeling very faint so she had to stop, which was rubbish. Unfortunately it's done nothing. Got another one booked for Thursday so we'll see how that goes.

CallingAllEngels · 06/01/2015 11:40

Congrats mads and hula

Cherrypi · 06/01/2015 11:54

Don't panic too much about the growth scans. I've heard several mum's mention how they were 2 or 3 pounds out. I think it's a tricky thing to measure.

blizy · 06/01/2015 11:56

Jobrum. I'm small too, only 5ft I'm just a walking bump!

Dec2013mummy · 06/01/2015 12:06

Well done mad and a huge congratulations Grin so exciting to hear about all these babies.
Hope the heal prick goes ok today cheshire. Ellie is beautiful. Ds got very defensive when Dd had her heal prick and screamed the house down. He got really upset and kept diving the midwife evil looks! He is being so loving even though he is feeling so poorly.
Hope everyone else is holding up ok.

Pesto11 · 06/01/2015 12:31

My dh is taking me to midwife appt later this week
Does he stay in the room for the sweep?
Head end? Step out for a moment?
Not stress about it till the time comes?!!

chiruri · 06/01/2015 13:09

My DH was in the room but on the other side of the curtain. He could have come in if he wanted but I was quite happy for him to sit outside! He's not squeamish in the slightest but I don't want him watching that!

HenriettaTurkey · 06/01/2015 13:38

I'm scheduled for a sweep at 38+5. DH will be grounding/anchoring me by standing at my shoulder. This is because of my anxiety regarding intimate exams. He's not squeamish either which is just as well!

LittlePink · 06/01/2015 13:43

Dh came with me for the sweep last week and sat behind the curtain. The mw asked me did I want the curtain back and I said no spare him having to see this then afterwards he complained that he felt excluded and pushed out. I was like seriously?! Can't do right for doing wrong!

Elizadoesdolittle · 06/01/2015 14:04

henrietta sorry about uti Sad hope your trip goes ok.

In my excitement of making a new thread I forgot to say congratulations to madrigals. Look forward to further details.

I'm back from midwife appointment. She didn't do a sweep. She would have done if I'd wanted too but instead she booked me in for one next Tuesday. Baby's head is engaged so I'm going to give it another week to come of its own accord. It better do as next week will be really inconvenient, especially if I end up having to have an induction. Very much hoping it doesn't come to that.

Eeeeeek, BABIES! Congrats madrigals, hula and Dec! Can't wait to hear your birth story Mad. And love that photo of Ellie, Cheshire. Smile

Much strength to all those who are overdue - 38+ here & starting to get v heavy & weary, so I can only imagine how taxing it must be for you guys! Babies soon come...

Ikkleme · 06/01/2015 17:06

Congrats to all the mummy's out there!
I'm currently 38+2 and think May be leaking fluid, anyone no if this is possible?

Cherrypi · 06/01/2015 17:07

Yes you can be leaking. Call your midwife and try and collect some on a pad.

Ikkleme · 06/01/2015 17:12

Thanks cherry

CallingAllEngels · 06/01/2015 18:46

pesto my dh was there at head end. I asked him NOT to talk during the 2nd one as was just trying to focus on breathing to get through it. Not painful but uncomfortable. He did that when I was in labour during a contraction - but only once!

Baby is having a right wriggle this evening but still no sign of anything happening.

ikkle you can leak. It could be that the baby's head is plugging the gap. That's what happened with DS at 39+3. I had a small leak at 3pm, another 12 hours later and then contractions started at 9am (and he was born at 39+4). I never got a big gush of waters breaking like they show in the movies. Try and collect some on a pad and ring mw if you're worried.
