Just Shagging - Thread 11 for Graduated Viroids!

JuniDD · 17/08/2014 06:27

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 11th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed Grin

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 27th outing.

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal here once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a secret facebook group, if you want to join, ask in-thread.

So, roll call below please, viroids! Smile

Late to the party:
Name: Pis
Age: 34
DC: 13 yr old and a prune due 15th march (unconfirmed)

I'm never camping for that long again. I'm effing frozen to the bone. Had some fun yomping on mountains until DP misread the map on the descent of Cadair Idris and accidentally took us down a sheer scree slope. How we survived with no sprains or breaks I'll never know.....

Lovely news Zyla and glad Elijah will be home soon Cookie !

Off to see which JSers have got upduffed. Hi lauren

laurenamium · 21/08/2014 14:11

Hi pis! It's a lucky thread on there at the minute! Lots upduffed!

laurenamium · 21/08/2014 17:02

Works done, all of the children apart from DD have gone home. I would normally be tidying now but DD has dragged my duvet through and asked for us to both put our jamas on and watch a film Grin. So a cosy few hours with DD it is, she never makes these requests so I'm making the most of it!

wilmabedrock · 21/08/2014 19:13

How lovely Lauren. Can't wait until we get to the film stage.

That's the end of my working week thank god!

laurenamium · 21/08/2014 19:27

Ah wil I wish I wasn't at work tomorrow! Envy Very jealous of a day off! Mind you I'm at work tomorrow then off all next week Smile

My booking in app is booked Grin I have to go to an "early bird" sure start appointment with a hv before then too though. Has anyone else had to go to one of these? The woman on the phone insisted it was essential I went

wilmabedrock · 21/08/2014 19:44

Ooh no, never heard of that. How strange. You'll have to give us the lowdown on your return.

Nessalina · 21/08/2014 22:16

Ugh, started reading the sponsored link on birth plans, then started looking into forceps deliveries and proper freaked myself out!!! Confused
Those of you who've done this before, did you have a birth plan? Did it go to plan?! I'm under no illusions of a 'perfect' birth, but I'm pretty sure I'd rather have an EMCS than massive tongs thrust up my fanjo - am I ok to say so do you reckon?!

zenry · 21/08/2014 22:31

My birth plan went nothing to plan. Second time round I didnt even bother making a plan

wilmabedrock · 21/08/2014 22:35

I didn't really have a birth plan as I'm not much of a planner. Had a rough idea of choices I would prefer. I ended up being induced so the whole 'plan' would have gone tits up anyway.

I had a forceps delivery. I think there is more risk from a c-section so they're less likely to want to do it without a really good reason. The actual delivery part was 'fine' as you get an epidural but the bad part is they cut you - although better than tearing obviously - and I had a very large cut which took a long time to recover from. Almost the same recovery length as cs would have been but worse in the sense of where the wound is - not easy to sit down etc. Also can end up with constipation issues as going to the toilet is pretty difficult. I had a pretty horrible first few weeks with newborn. But there were other issues too so not saying it was all down to forceps. You are much less likely to need them if you have a natural birth and can move around etc so I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you're induced at which point you could make that decision if they allow you to do so. I couldn't get a cs because of other complications.

This totally isn't meant to freak anyone out. 90% of people I know had a totally straightforward delivery. And at the time of delivery I wasn't phased by the forceps at all.

wilmabedrock · 21/08/2014 22:36

Oh good, another essay Wink .

RPopz · 22/08/2014 00:18

Not heard of that either Laura - sounds intriguing!!

Oh Ness ... step away from Google!! Have you done much reading? I can definitely recommend a couple of the books I've read on labour and making realistic birth plans etc. I think I will make a plan because I'm a big organiser of things. The key will be accepting its highly unlikely to bear any resemblance to my actual experience haha! At least it makes you think about what you do and don't want.

We love your essays Wil Smile x

Nessalina · 22/08/2014 02:33

We do love your essays Wil, keep 'em coming! Smile

Yeah, I can't decide if more information is better or worse at this point! I'm pretty practical, so I'll probably end up doing loads of research googling about every tiny option so I can make an informed choice, and then it'll all go out the window on the day! Grin

I can't sleep Confused

JuniDD · 22/08/2014 04:12

hey ness, sounds a bit like you're where I was at the weekend. The antenatal class really helped! And lovely wil's reassuring words too. Smile

I was a bit on information overload so I've stopped reading the pregnancy/childbirth boards here and will try to read more positive stuff and work on positioning the baby etc.

I had midwife yesterday and she talked about discussing a birth plan at the 36 week appointment. I wasn't thinking of bothering but am happy to be led by them on this one and it's more about choices like Vit K, syntometrine etc from the sounds of it.

Bloody MrJuni has a cold and is making no attempt to do quiet sniffing or nose blowing and seems to spend an inordinate amount of time crumpling his tissue when he wipes his nose. Escaped downstairs for a bit for some cereal and QUIET!

I love looking at the times people post on here, makes me feel less weird when I'm awake at odd times :)

I'm not thinking about giving birth yet, I'm pretending that bit doesn't happen for a few more months :p

zenry · 22/08/2014 06:49

I had 2 emergency sections. Going with the flow this time but I know what I do and dont want

wilmabedrock · 22/08/2014 07:35

Yeah I think you're right juni, a lot of it is about stuff like vitamin k, etc. I absolutely didn't want pethidine but then relented as they wouldn't give me an epidural. But wish I hadn't as it didn't help with the pain at all but just knocked me out in between contractions. And also means I can't remember loads of it may be a good thing.

Have you thought about yoga or something Ness? They show you some positions which are good for getting baby in the right place and then also good for labour.

Grr MrWil has woken up the toddler by going to the toilet.

Anyone have any good maternity swimwear recommendations?

HungryHorace · 22/08/2014 07:46

Congratulations, Lauren. Lovely to have more people to replace those of us who've given birth!

And how lovely you're having a girl, Zyla. Are you telling people or keeping it to yourself? And great to be low risk for everything.

Re birth plans; I've never had one. Bloody good job as DD's would've gone out of the window from the word go as labour started with meconium in the waters and went downhill from there, ending in EMCS and SCBU.

DS would always have been ELCS, but was then delivered early due to his unstable breech lie. I just told them what I wanted, but it still didn't happen as DS was too shocked to have delayed cord clamping and I was too ill during the section to have skin to skin (DH did do that til I was in recovery though).

So best laid plans and all that! But overall, my 'plan' has essentially been to do whatever it takes to get baby delivered safely.

I think I'm going to match Wil's essay now!

HungryHorace · 22/08/2014 07:47

Oh, I got a nice swimming costume from Next, Wil.

wilmabedrock · 22/08/2014 08:46

Thanks Horace, how are you getting on? Getting any sleep?

ZylaB · 22/08/2014 09:02

We're telling people horace but keeping the name secret! except for telling you lot cos you're special Grin

HungryHorace · 22/08/2014 10:33

Well, sleep is hit and miss really. Some nights I get about 6-7 hours and others - like last night - about 2 hours!

I'm glad we are special, Zyla. :-)

cookielove · 22/08/2014 10:55

Hello hello hello,

I didn't have a birth plan, well I did in that I wanted a natural water birth, but that went out the window when I went into preterm labour. Smile

To be fair the worst pain aside from the contractions (before I got an epidural) was when they put the catheter in and out! I had no pain relief and that shit hurt! As did the steroid injections!

But I did have forceps and it was alright, they cut me, didn't feel it and then I tore slightly also didn't feel it. Although definitely felt it once the epidural wore off.

I'm still uncomfortable 9 days later but it is manageable and I haven't had pain killers for the last 3 days, and they were mainly for my back and stomach pain.

cookielove · 22/08/2014 10:59

zyla ahhh a girl :)

Forgot to say lo is doing better with bf, and I am rooming in with him. I am hoping tonight I can feed him without any help from the nurses as he refused to wake up for his 4 am feed this am so I had to take him back to the nursery and I felt pressure to say give him a bottle. But they were good and helped me breastfed him again. I just fed him well started at 9.45 and finished at 10.30. And he is snoozing on my chest!

Gonna take him back to the nursery in a min so I can have a shower and stuff! And my mum is popping in to give me food and take me to mothercare.

zenry · 22/08/2014 12:04

Cookie I dont know how much DS weighs but if you are after tiny stuff tesco and sainsburys and asda do tiny stuff at a fraction of the cost of mothercare and its lovely. My DS was 5lb 4oz full term and tiny stuff swamped him so you might find early baby/prem fits better also micro nappies were our saviour! :)
