Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

RL, sound like you really need to get some time off work - how many symptoms do you have now??!!!!
Lubella, I don't think I bought all my stuff until I went on maternity leave at 34 weeks - things can be bought in an hour, you're not behind! That free mumsnet booklet from mothercare's got quite a good starting list in (although m/care obviously quite expensive). Where are you going shopping? It's really exciting that first time
Have you any NCT 2nd hand sales nearby? They're great for picking up loads of stuff cheap esp moses baskets, play mats & baby clothes. Will post the url later if you want.

lubella · 27/09/2006 17:32

Yes I have been recommended the NCT sales and there is one next weekend I will check out, nice to know I am not totally crap with timing xx

calsworld · 27/09/2006 18:22

AQ, could you post that NCT link? I've still got loads left to do...

Lubella - glad you're feeling well, I've not posted for ages but I've been reading all the posts - I got fed up of feeling like I was always complaining and saying the same old things....still being sick and i'm now nearly 31 weeks...can't wait till LO is born so that it can all be over!

I spent three days in hospital a couple of weeks ago due to severe abdo pain, which they think is down to a damaged oesophagus and stomach from ott heartburn - I thought what i had was normal but apparently not! - I'd love a curry....just can't do it...I'm also off chilli which is disappointing as I really love mexican food....

But apart from that, I feel remarkably well, I went to my first aquanatal class today and feel like I actually did some exercise, so whilst i'm tired, I kind of feel energised...my joints feel better anyway - can't explain...will therefore stop waffling!

RL - everything OK?

Cal

lubella · 27/09/2006 19:07

Hey Cals you have my deepest symapthies, I was a wreck after 3 months of sickness you must be beat, no wonder you have had some oesophagus issues. Have you tried Camomille Tea - v good for soothing stomach discomfort as it relaxes the muscles.

I am exactly the same on posting the same old thing over and over which is why I hold off sometimes - still nice to read how everyone is doing though...
As far as excersise goes it really is amazing how much better even a little makes you feel, I did Yoga at the beginning of my PG but had to hold off due to work comitments but I LOVED it and it does make you feel energised - even just a brisk walk does you the world of good.

Lucy & Calsworld, being sick at this point must really be so hard to live with, I have a friend due in Dec also who has it even worse the 2nd time. I really feel for her & both of you (sorry if I'm missing anyone else who's still being sick, I think we need a symptoms thread
Here is link to NCT 2ndhand sales
Cannot believe how much I got for 20 quid first time I went.

accessorizequeen · 27/09/2006 21:47

Forgot to say re: NCT, that the site isn't showing there's a Leeds sale on the 7th oct (in case anyone's near Leeds) so may be missing other districts - always worth checking your local NCT website if there is one or giving them a ring. The Leeds one (which unfortunately I can't make) has been fabulous both times I've gone.

Hi everyone - what a night!

My BP was 140-110 at the midwife so I was sent straight to Labour Ward - they wanted to keep me in, but luckily BP came back down, visual disturbances ended and as long as I signed a self-dischsrge they let me come home 4 hours later - did'nt want to be away from DD as today is her B'day!

Anywho, had to go to the day assessment centre this morning and BP was even better - 120/80. So they are making a consultant apt for me for next Thursday and Community Midwife has to visit and check BP everyday until then. But other than that I am okay - just relieved to be home and spending the day woth DH and DD.

Have been told definatley to get signed off for at least 2 weeks when I see GP on Monday!

And rest rest rest, and after yesterday there's not much else I feel capable of anyway!

Hope you are all well!

X

catkins1000 · 28/09/2006 10:10

Hello everyone, new on here, but have loved reading all your posts.
Due on christmas day with first baby and very excited but terrified too. Been feeling not too bad during last few months but off sick just now as think it all got too much for me this week - didn't even get out of bed yesterday, but have actually surfaced today and got washed :-)
Now cannot wait to finish work, roll on end of November.
Anyone else just constantly eating but getting really full up at the same time if that makes sense?

lucy5 · 28/09/2006 11:08

Hi redlorry,

so sorry to hear about your bp. I really do sympathise, it's been the bane of my pregnancy. My advice is rest rest and more rest. Not eay I know when you have got children but grab it where you can. Don't worry about work or the house etc take any help that is offered. Hope you feel better soon.

Hello newbies!

Elibean · 28/09/2006 12:01

Hello newbies!

RL, so glad you got to go home again - had no idea it was your dd's birthday, would have been so sad to miss it. I'm also glad they're keeping an eye on your BP - had major issues with mine at the very end of my first pg, and worse postpartum (though never any symptoms) and like Lucy says, real PITA. Glad its better, and maybe the cake helped bring it down, eh..keep taking it...

That feeling hungry then full thing - YES. Very frustrating!

jabberwocky · 28/09/2006 18:34

Welcome newbies

Glad the BP is coming down RL. It sounds like you are having my first pg . But all my symptoms went away after having ds, so at least you have that to look forward to.

Somebody get me off of ebay!!!!!!

Elibean · 28/09/2006 18:35

Get thee off ebay, Jabber

Did that work?

Bet it didn't....

Calmriver · 28/09/2006 21:58

HI guys,

Don't have that completely full feeling anymore..baby has dropped a bit.

I am currently in the middle of my intensive driving course at the moment, and 4 hours solid driving a day is nackering me out. I also can't help getting stressed out on these narrow little English Roads in London, I have actually had slight spells of period pain which I'm not sure is stress or my fast growing uterus. Will watch it, but I have another 13 hours driving before Tuesday.

Tiny doesn't like the seatbelt much I don't think...not sure I would I suppose.

Is anyone else getting pains like this? I can't remember from last time.?

OP posts:
Elibean · 28/09/2006 22:16

That does sound pretty intense....good luck!

I've had what feels like mild period pains, but very mild - and they don't last long if I rest. Not even sure if they're bowel related or uterus related, tbh...but sitting for long periods doesn't help.

Can you rest straight after, and take breaks during?

accessorizequeen · 28/09/2006 22:19

CR, I've had some period like cramps today I think coz I was bent over pc for hours. I nearly always have discomfort when driving anywhere, not surprised if you are having trouble driving that many hours a day!
RL, how's the bp? HOpe you are taking some time off next week. Did you have enough cake today?

Calmriver · 29/09/2006 08:20

Thanks for your messages guys, DH says I had these pains before and it was when my uterus was growing intensly..it's probably us on the home run of growth..It's all doing most of the growing now,I suppose the discomfort is bound to happen.

I have a 3 hour break in between my 4 hours a day..instructor very nice about it all.

Got to go and get ready.

Talk later and love to all and your miniatures.xx

Redlorry75 · 29/09/2006 08:20

Monring everyone -

CR can you get a seat belt adapter for use in pregnancy, that might help?

I am not too bad, iron tablets and plenty of water are making me feel better. Also cake . Thanks for your thoughts

Got a call from the medical centre last night to ask me to come and get another prescription ?!? Asked what is was for as I already had iron tablets on Monday and was told this time it a water infection . DH is taking DD to town today to collect them and then with all my tablet I will be rattling! I will use this time to clear some ironing - from a seated position I hasten to add!

Am preying the weather improves today so we can have the leak in our roof fixed. As the worry of that is just adding to everything else. I can just imagine brushing my teeth when lumps of wet plaster and masonry start to fall on my head !

30 weeks tomorrow! WooHoo

spinamum · 29/09/2006 09:41

RL, hope everything is settling.Enjoy the party tommorrow. make sure you do lots of sitting down!

Welcome to newbies! Espesh catkins,my fellow due on xmas day buddy!

I've survived DS's birthday. I even made a cake and it was OK I think I can thank Nigella Lawson for that though. Although by the time I'd bought her book(which my friend who is the queen of chocolate cake recommended) and had gone to shops to buy necessary ingrediants(I hadn't baked in a while and had run out of everything) and two new cake tins in the correct size it would have been more cost effective to commission my wedding cake maker to do one for him But I had fun and DH took his life into his hands by referring to it as me "acting like a proper mum" The man is brave I give him that. I quite calmly pointed out that carrying his sons around in my uterus was enough to give me mum status(no disrespect to any adopters/adoptees out there-the above is merely one of the qualifing factors!)

I think I'm having my last few good weeks before it all goes downhill(not that I'm been feeling very on top of the hill for the last 6 months!) I've got a sort of calm before the storm feeling. That or I've finally got used to feeling sick, tired, unable to walk properly, leaking fluid from every crevice(sorry TMI)the piles, the constipation, diarrhoea, hunger coupled with inability to eat, loss of libido, heartburn and random cramps. AS I said, feeling WONDERFUL!

We really don't have long to go. Planning to start getting the fruit drunk for my Xmas cake soon. At least then I can get all smug when everyone is teasing me for not lifting a finger at Xmas.(I made the B**y cake)

PS DH was just joking before anyone gets the MN hit squad out to him. Bless him. I hope my kids inherit their sense of humour from my side

spinamum · 29/09/2006 09:47

Just a thought. When I go overdue and give birth in Jan, will you guys still let me play with you and join in your post natal thread?

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEE!

weirdbird · 29/09/2006 11:52

Awww Spinamum of course we will (though I am just as likely to be in the same boat as you!)

Anyone know any tricks to calm restless legs, mine have been really bad the last few days, driving me up the wall!

jabberwocky · 29/09/2006 11:54

Spinamum, could you possible want to moan with anyone else?

wb, dh swears by a heating pad at the base of the spine for restless legs. I've tried it and it does seem to help, although I have no idea why.

Loulou000 · 29/09/2006 14:19

Hello everyone. I go away for a few days and look how much there is to catch up on!

Aww, I've been looking at the June 07 thread and remembering when I was only just pregnant and looking forward in disbelief at the ladies who were about to pop... and look where we are now.

Had to laugh at calmriver's shaving story. I did more or less the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I basically just can't reach any more. I think my toenails have seen their last attention, too.

Symptoms as I enter the official 3rd trimester:
eating everything in sight (including meat, and I'm veggie, or WAS)... then having terrible indigestion
elephant ankles
but I can get through the night without getting up to wee

Has anyone else noticed that their l.o. gets more active if they get really anxious?

Lubella, there's this thread on what you need. It's going to form the basis of my shopping list when I get around to doing anything!

accessorizequeen · 29/09/2006 14:25

Nigella cake, I am impressed spina!
