Lucy, have you had your iron levels checked? As that's what caused my dizzy spells.

Devongirl · 26/09/2006 11:06

I'm sorry Lucy, I wasn't meaning to gloat but just felt so happy after feeling so bad for so long. I agree, get your iron levels checked, and eat lots of iron rich foods and avoid quick fix foods ie quick release carbs. They might be affecting your blood sugar levels more than they normally might maybe?

Sorry again, didn't mean to be annoying

Elibean · 26/09/2006 11:43

Hi Lucy, do you mean the BP tablets? Mine made me dizzy for about half an hour after I took them, but no longer than that - if you're getting them on/off all day, I'd def talk to the dr. Maybe iron levels, maybe the tablets, but either way that sounds horrid....hope they can sort you out somehow.
Devongirl, its good to hear someone feeling well - think you should bask in it and celebrate
Thanks Jabber, I'm feeling a bit less out of control now - gp thinks not TW (not seen any), various MNers think it might be, so I've dosed dd and dh, and spent an exhausting morning cleaning: more to do yet! But rather now than at 36 wks, eh? And I'm far too suggestible, itch and twitch at the very thought - ugh.

Just realized I probably have nine weekends left till baby arrives - if I do have to have a section - NINE! Doesn't seem so long when I think in weekends...

Elibean · 26/09/2006 11:44

Redlorry, just wanted to add sorry about the MW....and also, that I had a belt last pregnancy (mild PSD) which helped a lot. Definitely worth giving one a go. Glad your neice is ok - and families, oy, where's that rolling eyes icon when I need it

lucy5 · 26/09/2006 11:50

Thanks all, don't feel sorry about feeling well, I am truly pleased for you.

I suppose my iron has been checked I have never had so much blood taken in my life. Here in Spain you take iron tablets as a matter of course. it could be my bp tablets as I've never really got on with them. I'm reluctant to go to the drs as they just send you up to the hospital which is 45 minutes away and that causes no end of hassle. Anyway i'm going to lie down again and see if that helps. Hope everyone else is coping with all these different blooming ailments

Redlorry75 · 26/09/2006 11:52

Thanks Elibean.

Meant to tell you all I am now 95% sure that I want a homebirth.... just have to convince DH. But I like the idea I can have DD playing in her room upstairs and not feeling she's been pushed out (pardon the pun ).

Yes, good news about my SIL and niece, so I am off shopping after work to buy lots of pink, am also am off to Costco to order DD's cake for her party on Saturday. It's going ahead at Pizza Hut, all party bags have been made and camera has new batteries - roll on Saturday, although hre actual BD is Thursday.
I think I am going to fill the lounge with ballons for her so it's all exciting when she wakes up!

spinamum · 26/09/2006 15:34

what a lovely idea about the balloons!

we've got DS's party tommorrow and he's coated some mimi muffins (from tescos) in chocolate and sprinkles,so my kitchen is covered in hundreds and thousands now , but the muffins look soooo cute and they're all his own work. He's convinced me to let him eat one now so we bargained we'd have half each. Yum. I'm going to attempt a cake, then pop out tommorrow to buy one when it proves a mistake!
I'm not even sure how many are coming to his party TBH. People have confirmed verbally to me and I've had a few emails but with preg head, I'm not sure who's said yes I'm bound to make too many cheese sandwiches anyway.
Not to worry as I'm eating for THREE at the moment. Not necessary large quantities at each sitting but I seem to need to eat every hour and a half. Maybe that's where my babes get their breastfeeding routines from!
I'm getting quite keen to meet Beanie, but not as a premie. I look so huge I sometimes forget that Beanie is prob quite a bit off being fully baked yet.

jabberwocky · 26/09/2006 15:54

lol, spinamum, I know what you mean about being anxious to meet baby. I vacillate between being very excited to see him and reminding him he's not fully baked yet!

Booked a 4D scan for October 5th. I didn't get one with ds so am looking forward to seeing what it's like.

Dh has been moaning about achy neck and knee from working on the house. I feel like saying, "Look, I've hardly had a single day in 7 months where there wasn't something bothering me. Suck it up!" hmmm, pregnancy hormones most probably on that one.

DG, glad you're having a good day. They do happen occasionally, at least

Calmriver · 26/09/2006 22:03

Hungry AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Good morning fellow fatties!

Just wanted to apologise for being such a miserable bint yesterday. This pregnancy has been horrible from day 1 and I let it get to me as I have had a bad few days. Still feel a bit low to be honest. Anyway hope everyone else is feeling ok and not much longer now!

maroon35 · 27/09/2006 11:05

Hello All,

I've just joined...

Me 35
DH 36

Due 30 wks tomorrow with my first.

Got achey hips and legs insomnia and on meds for BP (had probs before pregnancy). Was told 2 weeks ago that my baby is on the small side (right on lower limit of growth curve) which is prob due to BP meds. Got another apptmt with MW tomorrow so I've been eating everything in sight since last apptmt and am hoping for some better news. I'm not booked to have another scan until 34 weeks should I push for another? 28 wks to 34 wks seems a long gap if baby isnt growing? Does anyone else have any experience of this small baby thing?
Also my mum has early stage breast cancer and goes into
hospital next week for masectomy. Stress stress stress.......... can't sleep properly as can't get comfy.....

Still, only got 4 more weeks at work on my temp contract with lovely employers (they've given me a special car parking space by the door from now until I leave and are very understanding whilst paying me well!).

Hope you are all keeping well

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 12:56

Hey All,

Welcome Maroon!

I'm having a sick day today as all dizzy and tired and breathless, DH has become self appointed iron tablet monitor as I keep forgetting to take them!

Have promised boss to work on my contingency plan though - but all have pre-school committee tonight - so he'll be lucky, Besides he'll still mark me up as sick and if I'm sick I cant really work no matter where I am. Maroon you are so lucky to have nice employers!

I ordered DD's cake in Costco yesterday she chose balloonns in yellow, purple and pink as the decoration! But as that cake it fo her party on Saturday I got a cheaters packet cake with rainbow sprinkles to make tomorrow and decorate and eat with her. So much cake

Having trouble with our roof now leaking over bathroom. Fitting new weather boards exposed a hole in the felt beneath and a rotten batton, so in addition we now have to shell out for that! Hopefully wont be more than £200

Anyway that's my news half crap, half cake cake cake - whoohoo

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 13:01

JUST WANT TO APOLOGISE FOR ALL MY PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE SPELLING MISTAKES

accessorizequeen · 27/09/2006 13:05

Welcome maroon, fraid I know nothing about small babies (both mine kept coming up large) but it's not that your baby's not growing is it, just that bean's on the small side? MW will also be able to check size of baby by just examining you.
RL, get some rest! Does iron deficiency make you dizzy, as I have major dizzy spells thought they were just from low bp, having bloods done on Monday so I guess I'll find out then although don't like the sound of constipation ergggh. Cake should help My birthday's next (ds's is 2 days before I'm due) I think I'll deserve a HUUUGGE cake by then. Have my eye on Waitrose number, mmmmmmm.

accessorizequeen · 27/09/2006 13:06

Is it the cake?

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 13:38

Hey AQ, will send virtual cake to you tomorrow!

Have actually submitted to the evil monster that is work !! And written a large chuck of contingency. DH who has two weeks off has taken DD to the park so I can have some peace to work in - but here I am on MN

As for rest I do need to I am begining to halucinate colours and spots, especially white flashes in the corners of my eyes. I remember from last time that was a sign of something, but can't remember what, anyone got any ideas??

bewilderbeast · 27/09/2006 13:42

Don't talk about cake! First day back at work after a weeks sick leave and it's killing me I would love a cake. Princess cake maybe, there's something about all that green fondant icing that makes them look irresistable to me.

bewilderbeast · 27/09/2006 13:44

Redlorry,

get your butt down to the doctors, that can be a sign of pre-exlampsia.

x

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 13:45

I can send you all a virtual brownie if you like. I keep watching these American pregnancy shows on Discovery Health Channel, where the 'moms' all want brownies - so I did too. So when in Tesco yesterday also procured for myself a cheaters packet mix of that. DD helped me make them, and has had a small peice , DH has stolen a large piece , the rest is mine, mine, mine - but I'll share with you lot

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 13:50

BTW am I right in thinking work can't force me in to maternity leave unless I'm sick after 36 weeks ??

Elibean · 27/09/2006 14:02

Hurrah, you cake scoffers, I'm not alone: dd just spotted an ice cream van on way back from nursery, and instead of doing my sensible Mummy bit and saying 'no, lets go home and have a nice banana instead' I said 'ooh yes, I want one too, race you' and we had a huge sick making 99 each.
Now I feel sick, and she's grumpy and hyper, but it was nearly worth it...

Welcome Maroon! I'm sorry to hear your Mum's ill (my aunt has just been through BC, and dh's aunt had a mastectomy yetserday - both doing well, but its pretty traumatic for all concerned) and hope her treatment goes smoothly. I don't know much about small babies either, but have been on bp meds (postpartum) and expect to be again - I thought it was high bp that could lead to small babies, rather than the meds? But either way, I'd ask the MW if you're worried - I'm sure she'll measure fundal height, but the important thing is that you feel reassured.

Lucy, I hope you get some good days before the bean arrives...I hated the first 3-4 months of this pregnancy, because I felt so rough; it does take the joy out of it. Do the medics say its because of the bp pills? Or something else?

Redlorry, flashing lights can be pre-eclampsia symptom, but if you're over tired and/or anaemic you might get floaters and stuff too....since yo'ure feeling rough anyway, I'd call the MW and get checked out: not worth risking!

I've forgotten who asked about anaemia, but it made me very tired, out of breath easily, and a little dizzy (not very)...hard to distinguish from normal pregnancy, eh....

As for me, getting kicked to bits by baby after a very quiet 24 hours (rather nice) and have given in to my TW paranoia and treated everyone, and cleaned everything. Can't be doing with infestations two weeks before babe arrives! Now utterly knackered, even lost a bit of weight (or had, till I ate that ice-cream) but feel much more in control, even if I'm not

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 14:09

Sorry everyone DD just came back from the park and had fallen over and scratched her hands. She noticed the last bit of brownie on my desk and being a big softie I told her to wash her hands and gave it to her.

DH not very happy there was about 8 pieces when he left ha ha ha.

PS am phoning MW now!

Redlorry75 · 27/09/2006 14:17

MW has called back and am going to see her now! DH not impressed with my bodys behaviour this time round as the medical centre has become our second home!

Elibean · 27/09/2006 14:19

Good luck Redlorry! Let us know how it goes when you can xxx

lubella · 27/09/2006 14:56

Hey gurls...

I have been off line for a while but wanted to say hi and wish everyone the best - sorry some of you are feeling a bit low; not too long to go now at least.
I have by some miracle (touch wood) been feeling better that I have for my whole PG and I have been ill for the most part so feeling quite positive. The hunger thing is really kicking in now and I have just polished off a Thai Red curry (Tescos finest I highly recommend) and a chocolate muffin, this little one will be made of pure stodge but maybe she will need it being a winter baba; my excuse !
Going to do the first major shop this weekend and really excited - haven't got a thing so far and I have been made nervous by some super organised mums to be on here...any advice for a first-timer -with not exactly an abundance of cash - on absolute essentials?
