Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:

...and feel better soon, AQ.

Loulou000 · 30/08/2006 11:00

Argh, the maternity wear thread has depressed me. I was planning to keep on wearing my two pairs of blooming marvellous trousers, two big woolly bm cardigans and assorted oversized shirts until the end. Now I feel less than a woman for not possessing two or three chic isabella oliver dresses. But then, I wasn't that much interested in clothes before I was pg, so why should now be any different.

accessorizequeen · 30/08/2006 12:30

lol at my owning an isabella oliver dress, wouldn't wrap round my arm .

jabberwocky · 30/08/2006 13:04

Just remember, the thing about maternity clothes is: You wear them on the way up and on the way down!

castlesintheair · 30/08/2006 15:02

Thought you might like to know that I went to bed with a tin tray under my bed last night and hey presto no cramp! Is my mind playing tricks on me I wonder?! Anyway, it's bliss not to have stiff, aching calves today.

Don't mention designer maternity wear! I am going to a wedding in France this weekend and have "splashed out" (nat!) on a £29.99 black sack from Next. Can you imagine the looks I am going to get from all those chic French ladies

Loulou000 · 30/08/2006 15:41

But on the way down I will be confined to the house with a dribbling infant that doesn't mind if I stay in my pyjamas.

I'm sure you will look irresistible castles. You have those pregnancy hormones!

softymom · 30/08/2006 16:38

Blimey! Miss a few days and new thread etc etc

I've been in my maternity trousers for a month now.

Has anybody found a source of maternity belts? My not very good maternity trousers (from Hennes) always fall down as soon as I put anything in the pockets. Hate showing off my huge belly and backside to all and sundry by mistake.

Elibean · 30/08/2006 17:43

Castles, black sacks are tres chic in France - trust me, I have a very chic SIL (and a French mother) Glad the tray worked, weirdly or not!

Maternity clothes...oh lor, Softymum, I've been in some since 12 weeks: seemed to pop out really early this time, plus being on steroids for the first trimester put on loads of weight at the start. Its mostly tops that I needed - I went zooming from a 34c to a 36-38d/dd in weeks!

weirdbird · 30/08/2006 18:03

I have been in maternity clothes for at least a month and I'm at 23 weeks now!

oh and Elibean, same with the bust, except mine went from a 32C to a 34F and it still seems to be growing [help]

accessorizequeen · 30/08/2006 18:04

What about one of those stretchy belt things they're talking about in style>ugly maternity clothes? Can get them from topshop I think. Have never seen maternity belt, but know what you mean about trousers, softy. I have 2 prs of H&M's, 1 is super comfy with thick stretchy waistband, other under-bump stupid stupid falling down all the time trousers and I want to put them in bin! Am buying decent jeans this w/end if it kills me, I'm not having another 4 months of this arrrgggh.
Didn't realise all I had to do was put tin tray under my bed to make cramps go away

spinamum · 30/08/2006 18:32

AQ,hope you're feeling better. DAMN those pharmacists!

I've being in maternity stuff since week 11 and a half!!!! But I'm still in some non Maternity stuff. (Big thanks to whoever recommended the DP non mat t-shirts-they really are long enough!) I'm as big as I was last pg at this stage in the yr(which is handy from a seasons point of view despite being THREE months less pg if anyone can follow me!) but I'm getting to the "I'm going to freeze" stage. Need to buy warm clothes, but then I'll have to have another child to get any use out of my expanding wardrobe! The sensible side of my brain is telling me to resist buying NEW clothes and make do with being the most unfashionable person in the world.

Morningnewspaper · 30/08/2006 20:18

Ah, here you all are!!
You all sound sorted on the maternity clothes front. My friend lent me 3 pairs of trousers - they fit fine round the legs and bum, but keep falling down because my bump isn't big enough. Saggy arse is the magnificent result!

I'm feeling a bit blue today - DH abroad for work and we have polish builders in (who i don't understand), no hot water and a streaming cold. They have promised only one more cold shower tomorrow and hopefull that part will be sorted. At least its making my hair look shiny!

weirdbird · 30/08/2006 20:49

Well having gone and looked at the Style Pregnancy clothes thread, I have now bought some maternity clothes for the winter as I had borrowed my friends summer maternity wardrobe, but had very little from last time except 2 pairs of trousers and a nice cardigan that survived the non stop wearing and my "I hate this clothing" (having had to wear it non-stop for 6 months) cull after the last pregnancy. Oh and I still have my pregnancy suit, should I need to wear one of those before Xmas.

Ended up with a few nice bits from funmum and a couple of bits from Next, though am now £100 less well of

magnolia1 · 30/08/2006 20:55

I am still wearing a cpuple of pairs of trousers with elasticated waists and putting it under bump. Have 3-4 longer style floaty tops that cover the bare belly

magnolia1 · 30/08/2006 20:56

wtf is cpuple!!!! i meant couple!

Olihan · 30/08/2006 20:58

This month's pregnancy and birth magazine comes with a stretchy band thing that goes over your tummy to cover up the gap between trousers and top. I think it's out tomorrow. £2.30 or whatever it is, has to be worth a try. At least then the world can stop getting an eyeful of my stretchmarks everytime I move my arms!!

Morningnewspaper · 30/08/2006 21:18

I haven't even got on to winter stuff . I might try and find one of those huge long to the knee cardy things and live in that .

Calmriver · 30/08/2006 21:25

Oh my, booking my driving course tomorrow-Manual.

Will get it for a couple of weeks time. 5 days intensive 4 hours solid driving!!!

Never driven before...

Morningnewspaper · 30/08/2006 21:36

Brilliant!! You will have a blast - don't be nervous!

I've just written a short list of stuff I've done while pregnant / places I've been etc - I'm going to stick it in the 'baby file' thing for him/her to read later if they want to.

accessorizequeen · 30/08/2006 21:55

If I could actually make a decision, I would go and buy a load of maternity clothes & cloth nappies right now instead of just bookmarking more stuff that I never buy & dilly-dallying until I'm 8 and a half months pg. I have 2 comfy pairs of maternity trousers, no shoes that fit as my feet have gone up to size 9 and nothing comes in size 9 except possibly Crocs (I am soooo tempted, surely black ones would look ok?). Also I threw out black cardie from last time as I couldn't live with it in the house ANYMORE so now have nothing for these coldish, days except poncho which makes me look like side of house. I want to look stylish, but more than that I want to be comfortable, it's bad enough not being able to bend, have a horrible cold with nothing to take, toothache ditto (darn those pharmacists) plus permanent indigestion (tho I'm pleased to say half a tub of ben & jerry's didn't make it worse, so you have my personal recommendation - did I mention it was 'low-fat'?). Sorted, I think not!

Morningnewspaper · 30/08/2006 22:03

I'm exactly the same - as this is my first, I have absolutely no idea what size or shape I will end up, so daren't go out and buy stuff incase it only lasts me for 2 weeks.

Size 9 eh? My sister has had size 9 feet since she was 14 - doc martins work and shoes at enormous expense from russell and bromley! I think black crocs will be perfect too - lovely and flat. They may give you that artistic air that goes well with ponchos!!
I'm sorry you're feeling poorly - I am going through it too at the mo so can sympathise properly! i had a fractured tooth mended last week but have been unable to bite on the tooth since - back to them tomorrow for more filing!

spinamum · 30/08/2006 22:07

enjoy the driving, Calmriver.

I've just spent this evening on ebay "just looking" at Mat wear. didn't see anything I liked (ie an Isabella Oliver dress for £3!) but I think it may be the way forward once I do my next spree! I already have a rather large M&S cardi which I bought pre-pg1 which I lived in post DS's arrival (in the days when I thought the saggy belly was temporary!)Still need some other warm stuff!
Please be honest with me girls, does anyone else REALLY look like they're nine months pg and about to give birth? I am the size I was in the weeks prior to giving birth last time. (I've grown out of one of my Maternity tops I'm only 23 weeks! It's not even that the non pg bits are much bigger(bum aside!) but I have a huge belly.) Tell it to me straight. Am I a FREAK?
Seriously I'm thinking of making an appointment with my m/w in case I've got that excessive amniotic fluid thing(the medical term eludes me)

Morningnewspaper · 30/08/2006 22:16

I'm perhaps not the one to ask as this is PG1. I had however just finished measuring myself when I read your post! I'm 26 weeks - I've put on 3 inches round the boobs, 9 inches on the waist and 4 inches round the hips from my pre-pg state. I was a size 8. My bump is all at the front - possibly a boy but we really don't know. Do you know if you're having a girl? Doesn't that usually make people balloon? Also, you will be bigger if suffering from fluid retention - are you weeing plenty?

accessorizequeen · 30/08/2006 22:19

Meant to say, thanks for all the kind get-well messages. I only have a cold & migraine/toothache rather than early contractions or high bp, so know I'm lucky with a fairly easy pg. Just frustrated as I can't think straight & have so many decisions to make at work and of course about which maternity cardie will fit over my enormous norks Was thinking of a kind of capey drapey thing from d'hams , then I can wear after. LOL at my looking remotely good in poncho & crocs, that's for Kate moss to carry off not me! (I have spied a pair of black crocs on ebay tho, hmmm comfy). Have discovered that tight-fitting way to go when you're ahem a curvaceous type....Wore very tight fitting wrap top to wedding on w.end and felt quite glam loads of comments. Course I can't wear it again now as all my work colleagues were at the wedding!
Spina, surely it is just rubbish maternity top & nothing to do with your size, lots of them aren't designed for 6 months +, for example anything I've tried on in dotty p's. Would it make you feel better if I said I can't see my (reasonably large) bump past my (unreasonably 42H) breasts? A guy nearly crashed his audi today trying to ogle them as he drove past, didn't even notice I was pg! Distract from unfeasibly large bump with shiny necklace? No, but seriously, you are not a freak, plenty other people have said the same thing on here & other threads.

Elibean · 30/08/2006 22:31

Calm, scary till you do it - then you'll have a blast I bet! Enjoy...and good luck.

I hadn't realized lots of maternity clothes don't work past about six months but one of my few maternity trousers, ones I really like, are already nearly too small. And they're below the bump ones too. Speaking of which, all the below the bump stuff seems to either fall down or make my bump itch...is it me?!

Have cried off going to friends cottage this weekend, one benefit of having stinking cold: love the friends, hate the thought of cooped up 2.8 yr old on rainy weekend in place with cream furniture and lots of tiny breakable things...all the more time to lig around and play on MN....
