Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

Elibean · 28/08/2006 09:09

g'morning

I thought 3rd trimester was after 26, 27 or even 28 weeks depending on which baby book/site? But hey, we're definitely getting there....and the other thread was taking a while to load, thanks for starting a new one!

WB, so glad the cx have stopped - long may it last.

Calmriver · 28/08/2006 09:57

Hi Elibean, I know, I got a bit confushed as my WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOURE EXPECTING book says pregnancy up to 9 months and that we are 6 now. 6-9 being the last trimester. Oh well, I will be 26 next week!

My 'baba' is being very quiet at the moment, and I actually am having to make her move this AM. She has been quiet for the past few days, so maybe as she is tiny she is having a growth spurt..would be nice for her. Hope she is getting a lot of sleep!!!

How is your baby?

I got to sleep in this morning too, 9:10 am! Thats just amazing how DD stayed asleep.

She is still getting into our bed during the night and sleeping there, it doesn't really bother my sleep at all, but I'm just wondering how we are going to do 4 of us in our double!!!

Elibean · 28/08/2006 10:25

Me too (26 next week, that is - well, baby, not me, I wish!).

Mine is definitely having a growth spurt at the moment - at least, I hope so: one of us is, according to the scales, and I'd rather it was her

But quiet....nope, this one seems not to sleep too much. Yikes.
Have a good day - what you up to? we're off to North London to see my sister, eat blackberry crumble (oy the heartburn, but worth it) and walk in the rain!

Elibean · 28/08/2006 10:27

Funny, was thinking this morning that dd is bound to start wanting to sleep in our bed when baby arrives...she comes in sometimes for a cuddle in the morning, but mostly she still sits in her bed and calls me when she wakes up, as though she hadn't quite figured out the big girl bed deal!

Sounds cosier (and easier) your way...

Calmriver · 28/08/2006 13:44

Well, hope you have a good day. Crumble..MMMM!!!

My DD used to be so active compared to my new girly. She goes through her active phases, but she seems to be asleep a LOT now. maybe I need to have a caffeinated coffee for a change. I am pretty much off all caffeine, ONLY MY FAVOURITE CHOCOLATE!!!I can't and don't want to give that up! NO WAY!!!!

The bed sharing is very cosy actually...infact, I am going for a cuddle up right now! talk later.

Where is EVERYONE???

bump

Morning all...

jabberwocky · 29/08/2006 10:34

Just posted a link to the new thread on the old one. Ds woke up screaming about an hour ago (it's 4:30 am here) I'm guessing it was a bad dream, although could have been gas. Anyway, I'm up, for a while anyway.

As far as growth spurts go, I'm wondering if that was what lo was doing the last few days. He was a lot calmer, which always makes me nervous. Last night he seemed to be moving quite a bit more, though.

jabberwocky · 29/08/2006 10:38

Oh, and i went a bit wild on ebay buying maternity clothes the last few days I have finally gotten to the point where my last few baggy, pre-pg clothes don't work anymore so had to supplement. Or...at least that's what I'm telling dh

castlesintheair · 29/08/2006 10:49

Elibean, just saw your post on the old thread and don't think you are being a wuss about going away. We are going to a wedding in S.France on Saturday, catching a 7am flight (so nice early start!) then coming back Sunday eve, collect DCs from ILs & come home (they are 2 hours away). I'm really looking forward to the wedding but the thought of all that travel makes me wanna heave. At least we will be child-free

Thanks for tips on cramp. Will try standing on cold surfaces!

Calmriver, we often have 4 in the bed. I usually end up somewhere else cos DH is a heavy sleeper (that's his excuse anyway) and DD & DS like to sleep diagonally, plus (complaint warning) I get sooooooooo hot.

accessorizequeen · 29/08/2006 12:29

LOL at all of us with tin trays under our beds...but useful tip as bananas not helping me either!
I did wonder where everyone had gone, and here you are. We were at wedding over w/end, night in hotel without ds v.peaceful, slept in until 9! Rest of bank holiday passed in blur of migraines, which are even worse today due to staring at work screen all morning. Had horrible cold all week, and fed up of pharmacists (no offense to spina who is pharmacist?!) telling me I can't take anything. Had to send dp in to buy cocodomol for migraines as they refused to sell me anything & midwife insisted they were fine for me. Not that they're helping anyway, I just want to go home today waaaaahhh.
Anyone else discovered ben & jerry's cherry garcia frozen yoghurt, ostensibly low-fat version of the icecream mmmmmmmmm.

Elibean · 29/08/2006 14:51

Looks like I'm starting dd's cold anyway, so going away this weekend may be excused...yeay the wuss...

And thanks, Castles, for understanding!

Frozen yoghurt AQ...ooooh yes....dh discovered B&J's chocolate cookie dough frozen yoghurt recently, and we alternate beween that and cherry garcia...feel almost virtuous eating that stuff. Or did, till the heartburn complained.

Loulou000 · 29/08/2006 14:51

Poor AQ. Go home sick!

I too have got new maternity clothes. I kept hoping I could get away with bigger-sized old clothes and baggy shirts, but I can be in denial no longer. Seems like such a lot of money to spend a) for such a short time and b) to still look so unstylish!

Elibean · 29/08/2006 14:54

Had a 3d/4d scan today - more to allay my plancenta worrise than anything else, though dh was very keen on seeing our baby again. Very relieved - turns out my placenta has two lobes (not a problem in itself, if position ok) but has moved up: hurray! Now I just hope Magnolia's does too, and anyone else's thats causing concerns.

And mini-bean is very sweet....has long fingers like her sister, and kept playing with her umbilical cord. Maybe seeing her wee face will help me find a name, you never know...

castlesintheair · 29/08/2006 16:11

Oooh how lovely, well done on the scan EB and esp. the placenta. Isn't nature amazing? I'm dying to see my Bean again but I only had a scan last week! I wasn't offered a 3D/4D one, can I be a bit cheeky and ask if you had it privately?

AQ, agree with LouLou, you should be tucked up at home in bed. Look after yourself

Calmriver · 29/08/2006 16:14

Went primark crazy today for bigger stuff too. None of it is actually maternity, just very practical!

Does anyone have any soothers for pelvic aches? Midwife was very matter-of-fact that it was part and parcel of the whole thing. Have good days and bad days, but any suggestions to ease it on bad days would be appreciated!

jabberwocky · 29/08/2006 19:02

I'm just extra careful about movement on those days - and I know exactly what you're talking about!- such as swinging around with legs together to get out of bed.

tmi alert - I actually sat on an ice pack 2 or 3 nights in a row and piles are much improved I'm only mentioning it in case anyone else is as miserable as I was.

lucy5 · 29/08/2006 20:26

Hello all! i haven't been around much lately, just dropping in to say that i'm keeping out of hospital and bp is behaving itself. The weather is a bit cooler here in Spain and i'm sure that's helping.

lucy5 · 29/08/2006 20:28

Also can anyone recommend anything stronger than Gaviscon.I'm going to Gibraltar next week, so I can pick up some English products as I haven't found anything that works here.

Olihan · 29/08/2006 20:35

Lucy5, I'm not sure there's anything stronger than gaviscon that's okay for pregnancy. I was prescribed ranitidine by the gp but I don't know about over the counter stuff. I think Ranitidine is what's in the gaviscon 12hrs+ stuff but I'm not sure what else is in there and whether it's ok for pregnancy.

Eating little and often, avoiding orange juice, pasta, very fatty foods and fresh bread eased it a bit for me but it took a while to work out what the triggers were. It's an absolute nightmare though, you have my sympathies.

Elibean · 29/08/2006 21:00

Lucy, Ranitidine is the same as Zantac - only the stuff you buy over the counter (Zantac) is half the strength of what you get on prescription. My OB is absolutely fine with me taking Zantac, up to six tablets per 24 hours - its just about doing the trick for me.
She also strongly advised not drinking anything after about 9pm, as fluids reflux back up through the stomach valve more easily than solids - I hadn't thought of that, and was avoiding food late at night but still drinking tea and/or water! Its helped a lot at night not to.

Glad the bp is behaving, I know how it feels when it doesn't!

Elibean · 29/08/2006 21:06

Castles, yes, it was private...tbh, I was in at least two minds about having it done. Right up to the last minute, I was sitting in the waiting room saying 'I don't see the point, its silly, not sure I want to do this' with dh saying 'too late now' with a grin on his face - he was the one who really wanted it. But actually...it was nice and more importantly, it put my mind at rest.

Jabberwocky, thanks for the icepack tip - I have noted it for future use (which is guaranteed, sadly). Glad you're sitting more comfortably...

And finally, what is in the air today?!? I too have bought a couple of new big things - mostly because I have a sore throat, was freezing cold, and don't possess a single warm maternity item: now I have a couple of long sleeved tops and a big fat cardi...

accessorizequeen · 29/08/2006 21:07

Elibean, ahhhh, you're making me want to sign up for another scan, still feel a bit cheated from my 20 week one.
didn't go home, too much work! But going to bed now with tub of cherry garcia, damn the consequences!
I have one of those cloth things that you heat up in the microwave - v.nice for any achy pains, Gloria. Actually might get that as well & retire to bed!

accessorizequeen · 29/08/2006 21:09

Have you all seen maternity wear thread going on in style? I am so going shopping this weekend, accessories are no longer enough, I am down to 2 pairs of trousers.

Elibean · 29/08/2006 21:20

Oh Lor, not a shopping thread....I've already broken the bank on bamboo nappies thanks to Flamesparrow: think I'd better go and substitute some frozen yoghurt for MN now...
