hi guys I'm fine altho have started another thread on DH's long hours ... re big babies my 1st was 10lbs 5 but they didn't seem to be able to predict it, depite me being huge & having an extra scan - apparently weight is more difficult to predict as they can't measure the fat on the bones IYSWIM. one huge +ve about having big uns tho is that they tend to be a lot more settled & feed well. Bit of a bu**er getting them out tho', hence my elective c/s this time round ... !

BigHotMama · 23/06/2006 14:13

Muminaq were you or your Dh big babies? I was only 6lb 4 and my Dh was only 6lb! Its mad really cuz we've both grown into big heffers! Was hoping genetics may play a part in the size of our baby?

olivo · 23/06/2006 14:46

hi everyone - all this talk of big babies is sending a shiver down my spine.have just been asked by a nurse a the hospital if the baby was iminent - she was v embarrassed when I said just under 9 weeks!

just taken dh in for an operation on his knee so am sitting here worriedly watching my phone as they'll phone me when he's done. only 25 more mins of lessons so not too bad.

dh finished the painting yesterday, carpets arrinving for upstairs next week nad then the nursey furniture goes in - hurray!

mojomummy · 23/06/2006 20:21

Hi there, well I had a well being scan today - I'm 34 wks + 1 & measured a little small at last Dr's checkup. Also can feel every little knee/foot/elbow movement, which can be very uncomfortable.

Anyway, pleased to say all is well..baby is head down, apparently in a good position, placenta in the right place. The sonographer said there is only 2cm of tummy between baby & fresh air ( must have put the weight on my boobs/bum/thighs) & that's why I'm feeling everything.

Baby is about 5lb at the mo & on the growth chart about 33%. Interesting to see what comes out !

Hope everyone is well...I've got an evening of makingup party bags for DD's 3rd b'day party tomorrow. First a bit of ebay & a long soak in the bath

PinkTulips · 24/06/2006 15:15

olivo, sorry your dh has to hve an op, horrible for you having extra stress so close to the birth, will he be laid up for long?

mojo, can sympathise with the feeling every little movenent, can practically feel the shape of the little one through my tummy and if he so much as hiccups i know about it!

thanks BHM and MiaQ, feeling a bit better today but still exhausted, can't seem to relax anymore. i'm either too uncomfortable or my mind is racing with things to do and i get up again! driving me mad because i know there'l be even less time after baby comes

Olivo - hope your DH is alright and recovers quickly!!

BHM - so happy you love your nursery!! Isn't it great when it is all done?

Well Salamander and a friend of ours surprised me today with a baby shower!!! It was so much fun!! I was totally shocked to walk into my house and see friends sitting there yelling 'SURPRISE!' There was lots of good food, PRESENTS! and of course, good company!! Really I am so happy - I feel really spoiled and almost feel guilty I feel so spoiled!!

Hope everyone else is having a lovely weekend!

dreamydowler · 24/06/2006 21:36

Hi all Im new on here and expecting baby number 7 in 9 weeks 4 days. My last baby now aged 3 was 9lb 1oz so have had a growth scan already and have got another at 36 weeks. At 29 weeks I was measuring 33 so think this baby which is another girl is going to be big too. Im only 5"3 but other half is nearly 6". Have had terrible swollen ankles lately and my pelvis is really sore cant believe ive still got ages left.

sarahlou1uk · 24/06/2006 21:45

BABY NUMBER 7????

sarahlou1uk · 24/06/2006 21:46

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. It's just that I'm expecting number 2 and couldn't imagine any more than that - have enough sleep deprivation as it is! Anyway, good on you!

eenywifemum · 24/06/2006 23:02

Hi dreamydowler and welcome to the August board - surely the biggest ante-natal group on MN?? I too am surprised you are on baby number 7 - you dont see that much these days but its great! Although I knew a family who had 6, and another who had 9, and my hairdressers boyfriend is one of TEN CHILDREN!! WOW! Sorry you are struggling with sore pelvis etc. - I am struggling really badly with back pain all the time, I can NEVER sit/stand/walk comfortably. It's awful.

PinkTulips · 25/06/2006 00:00

your braver than me dreamydowler!

whats your due date and we'll put you on the list? (i know you told us how many weeks and days you are but my heads not right for maths at the minute )

btw, somebody asked whether birth weight was genetic and i remember hearing that the biggest factors in determining birth weight is the mothers height and the mothers own birth weight. my dd weighed exactly the same as me when i was born

Warning, extremely long post follows...
Dreamydowler! Welcome to the board and congratulations. How do you get time to be on mumsnet with all those children?
Well, am now back online at home thank goodness, the builders have cleared the attic and I have a lovely new desk, made of our old cupboard door on two trestles. Only problem is I am too scared to actually climb down from the attic without DH to offer me encouragement! So, if you catch me on mn too much it's because i am trapped in the attic.
Had 34-wk antenatal appt with lovely obs/gynae consultant on Friday back at my own friendly hospital. As you know I am having a 36-wk scan with the fetal medicine dept which will determine whether the fluid levels in the baby's brain necessitate an earlier delivery/immediate operation (which would mean going to King's College Hospital where they can do C-sections and paediatric neurosurgery). But for now I have a C-section booked for......27 July!!!! She was so positive, saying, well, if we have to change the date, we can bring it forward, but for now let's assume all will be well and you won't need to go to the other hospital. It's weird knowing that 27 July is the latest I'll go before becoming a mum for the 2nd time. Unless my op gets bumped, of course. But they rarely do, apparently.

Arabica · 25/06/2006 00:10

Oh, hunky builder update. It's over--I just don't feel the same way any more. It's as if I've had my wicked way and discarded him. Maybe I needed him plus the smell of paint, or something!

PinkTulips · 25/06/2006 00:14

congats at the date arabica, same b-day as my dad

WOW dreamydowler hi , I cant even do 2 pregnancys withought getting in a state , let alone 7 , bless ya , you are a stronger braver women than me !!!

Olivo hows dh doing , what a worry right now, is he going to be recovering for a while ?

Pink tulips hows your back ? I find laying out straight helps me , physio has given me a stretch to do to pull the sacral bit apart. May be a bump strap might help ? Im wearing one all day if I can , what a difference when it comes off for bed.

Was I being very annoying with the ice cream p tulips ?

These ferrous pills are rank , anyone else feel sick and dont fancy food sometimes??? I dont remember what they were like after dd , as I was so ill anyway , I couldnt have possibly been worse!!!

The rice cake obsession is still there but is waining , so may be the ferrous is starting to help. Now I know why I was so desparate for them last time at the end, as its my safe sub for paper , which I read is common fancy with aneamia!!!!

melsy · 25/06/2006 10:32

Arabice will you be the 1st to be bump free on this grp ? Wow 4 wk countdown. We're here to help with nerves over the nxt couple of weeks whilst waiting for your next scan.

eenywifemum · 25/06/2006 12:53

Arabica - you make me laugh with the hunky builder! are you glad you are over him or do you sort of miss the thrill? I second what Melsy said, we will all be here for you over the coming weeks! It must feel so strange to have a date!

PinkTulips · 25/06/2006 14:42

not annoying melsy, just can't stand the thought of a preganant woman having to go without icecream

lying on my back used to help the back but thanks to the bump i now can't breathe when i lie on my back so will have to find some other way. can't afford to go to a physio privately and your not referred over here when pregnant. when i was preg with dd i spoke to the doctor about it but as it's a pre-existing condition thats being agravated by the pregnancy he said i'd be better off waiting til i returned to my normal weight to get a proper diagnosis of what the problem is, unfortunetly i got preg before i got around to it!

hows the hunky painter withdrawel going arabica?

think we may be getting round the time for a new thread, my computer just had an anurism trying to get to the bottom of this one!

just got a vibrating bouncy seat for cheap in smyths, very pleased as i have almost everything sorted for baby now, bit concerned about the fact that dd immediately tried to climb into it though... may have problems stopping her from sitting on the baby. she likes to sit in the babies car seat and rock too!

now if i could just find the safe place i put the insert for the car seat................(wanders off muttering to self)
