Anyone else made it here yet?
I'm at home now, back to my lovely bar of Dove soap so happy now. And i thought it was only me with watery mouth at the thought of eating it!

(Third pg by the way, was like it with all of them.)

Arabica · 24/05/2006 19:44

SnowBoo, I went into Lush (natural cosmetics shop) and wanted to eat everything, in fact I nearly bit a huge hole in the chocolate vanilla soap!

moondog · 24/05/2006 19:54

Arabica,how did your scan go?
Was thinking of you.

SnowBoo · 24/05/2006 19:59

Well thats a shop i must avoid! Will end up eating everything in sight.

PinkTulips · 24/05/2006 20:21

Snow, it could be worse, i remember a friend telling me when i was pregnant with dd that all of his sisters had the wirdest cravings... one used to douse a cloth in petrol and smell it and another ate charcoal!

Hahaha well at least my baby should come out clean and smelling lovely Grin
Thinking of it, ds1 was very clean, no muck on him at all.... Maybe theres something in this soap eating after all

Arabica · 25/05/2006 09:58

No news yet, the consultant who deals with MRI results is not at the hospital today, so I won't get a call until tomorrow at earliest. Am just off to have a valium.

PinkTulips · 25/05/2006 10:17

Angry they've got some cheek to make you wait like that arabica! can't believe how bloody insensitive they're being. have a hot chocolate, always cheers me up a little. is dh there with you or are you stuck on your own?

Hi Everyone,

Nice to see an easier to deal with thread!
lovely! Grin

Well Eeny and I hada fine time yesterday...

I'm sure she'll want to come on and tell everyone herself but i'll give you the basics. Wink

Yesterday she started getting really bad cramps and found that she had a bleed.

Called the midwife who said "i'm sending an ambulance"... Shock

A guy turned up ten minutes letter copping a real attitude saying there was nothing wrong, despite having not examined her, and continually going on about how he 'was paid to be a doctor'... Angry

I got on the phone with him to ask him to please be professional and have some compassion for a pregnant lady who has been bleeding and had an ambulance called for her... Angry Angry

He says he's not putting up with this (!) and walks out as the ambulance arrives!

They faff around for ten minutes about which hospital to take her to - despite the fact that I am standing right outside the maternity unit at the hospital where I work... Shock

She gets here and is treated really well by the midwives and the doctor says everything is ok with here and the baby in the end, but just as we're about to go the doctor comes back and says that the registrar said 'ah well keep her in anyway'...

We want to go so say well we'll just wait until the blood tests to see if any anti-bodies...

They say ok but will give her the Anti-D injection anyway (something we're not keen on if unecessary)...

So basically we sit from 5:30 to 9:30 and they tell us that actually the anti-bodies test can't be done after 5pm........

AAARRRGGGHHHHH AngryAngryAngry !!!!!!!

Why don't you know that?!?!?!?

God I work for the NHS and I know that the left hand rarely knows what the right nad is doing - but such a simple thing in a specialist Maternity Unit!!!!!!???? Shock Shock

So we go home, saying we'll come back today for a scan, and the Anti-D, but to be honest the whole thing took it out of us so much and we had been told repeatedly everything was fine - Eeny was properly examined by the doctor - and it was just some guy in an office somwhere who hadn't even seen her who said "keep her in anyway and treat it as if it's a problem"

So there we are, she's resting today - getting over the whole thing.

Obviously if there is any issue today then she will go in, but Alex has been kicking away like a trouper as per normal and all is fine now.

I've waffled on for far longer than I had planned - but then that's me.
I'm sure Eeny can give things the personal touch.

I'm totally happy that we did the right thing - it was totally pointless staying past 5:30...

Ah the NHS.... lovely...

Salamander

sorry for the huge post!

PinkTulips · 25/05/2006 10:56

o you poor things, and i complain about my hospital! so glad i don't have to deal with the NHS over here.

hope your feeling better today eeny, i'm sure if there was any real chance of there being something serious they would have kept you in for observation, at least i hope they would! big {{{hugs}}} for you and alex Smile

Thanks PinkTulips!

There is an on-call Haematology team who can do tests out of hours in urgent/emergency cases - and they obviously didn't deem it such, so that shows you that it was just a kind of 'belt and braces' thing by the registrar.

I am glad Eeny's ordeal is over... for now!!!

Ahhh - no NHS - I see!
How does the health work there - is it insurance based as in the US?

eenywifemum · 25/05/2006 12:20

Hi! I am actually relieved Salamander did that post because I woke up stressed this morning and although I wanted to fill you all in I couldnt face writing it out.

I just feel like crap and a bad mother and I know there is no reason to. Basically, what the 'bleed' was, was probably actually piles and not a vaginal bleed. Embarrassing, yes, but no reason to be hospitalized. Which is what Doctor #1 said. Then Doctor #2 who I never even saw said 'We'll treat it as if it were a vaginal bleed' Even though I WAS THERE at the time :) and I know where it was NOT coming from. So... yeah, I didnt want to stay in hospital.

Anyway, I just feel pretty rough today. Glad it is over and looking forward to it being a distant memory.

Will cheer up ASAP so as not to be a bore! :)

Salamander · 25/05/2006 12:31

Hey Eeny!

You're not a bore. Smile
I sat at the hospital for about eight hours with you and I wasn't bored!

lunavix · 25/05/2006 12:48

Hi everyone! Feeling the size of a house, cooing over diddy nappies, and apparently mothering ds like there's no tomorrow.. he's turning into a right mummy's boy and I love it :) So much as a sniffle out of him has my heart melting, think the pregnancy hormones are hitting big time!

Crikey eeny and Salamander, glad it was nothing serious.

Fingers crossed for you arabica.

eenywifemum · 25/05/2006 12:50

thats sweet Luna. I cant wait to have my little boy to mummy!! mmmm... lovely!

Salamander · 25/05/2006 12:51

I would have thought that it would say on the cover if there was a FREE GIFT with it Eeny...

Is there no mention?

dressedupnowheretogo · 25/05/2006 13:01

hi ya im seriously worried and my midwife is off again Angry and ther eis no releif mw or gp in this afternoon and i've just found out my next appt with the mental helath team is with a completley diff doc so im freaking out a bit as other was lovely and non scary and it means i'll have to explain myself all over again but im not going back under the duvet

glad to hear your ok eeny what a night mare id have been a rite mess if that had been me ny the way has salamander been tested re his rh thing coz if he is same as you you dont have to have the anti d ive been told dont know if its true but im sure you vcould find out got mine next week not looking forward to it as ive got to go on my own

are anybody elses boobs leaking yet mine have been for the last 11 weeks just thought id ask Blush

eenywifemum · 25/05/2006 13:04

booby - I am sorry you are so worried! hopefully they will have all your notes and you wont have to explain anything again. But I can feel for you! it is really not a good way of going about things when you are always seeing a different doctor.

Our GP refuses to test Salamander to see if he is RH neg or not because they said I can just have the injections either way. Not taking into account the fact that i would rather not have them if I dont have to!!

And I am so jealous of you because your boobs are leaking! Mine arent and I wish they would! It would be so exciting! Although I guess I can see how it would be a pain as well.

Salamander - I cant find a mention of a free gift but I havent looked through the mag yet.

Salamander · 25/05/2006 13:10

I'm going to go and give blood to find out if i'm Rh- (which I think I am) as that is the only way to find out if you're a man - short of requiring a transfusion!

dressedupnowheretogo · 25/05/2006 13:12

that will take two weeks to find out salamander and will eeny be past the 28 week mark then and they will make her have them any way

what did you reckon to the free mag in the post eeny i thought it was quite good but prefer my pregnancy and birth

eenywifemum · 25/05/2006 13:19

booby I agree about the mag. was happy it was free but I much prefer preg & birth. I think the one we got in the post is a new one so they are probably sending it out for free in the hopes it will get people hooked on it and they will buy it. Did you fill in that long survey in it about your opinions on the mag? Me & Salamander did because you get entered to win a prize if you do and I enter to win everything I can!! Which has worked - I won a baby bath & bathing goods from Preg & birth worth £100!!

I have until June 13 - that is my next midwife appointment when they will want to give me the anti-d. So if we can find out Salamander's type before then I may just get away without it! I know it isnt a huge deal if I have to have the injection, but it would put my mind at rest anyway knowing my husbands blood type.
