I know what you mean. Over here though, they have recently stopped offering anti-d Shock- luckily i 'got in' before they changed the rules but I dont know what it would mean if we decide to have another baby.

oops!Grin

eenywifemum · 20/06/2006 19:15

Olivo how can they not give you anti-D if you need it? What is the alternative?

olivo · 20/06/2006 20:54

I'm not sure to be honest Eeny - Because I was booked in before they made that decision, I personally will be ok this time(although when i went at 28 weeks they'd lost my letter so it had to be re-asked for Angry) but would obviously have to ask before we had another.I guess they can do it through monitoring of antibodies - i dont think anti -d was available in my mums day for eaxample and she is Rh neg.

lunavix · 20/06/2006 21:33

Crikey at all this anti d talk - I don't really understand it, just assume I don't need it as midwives and doctors haven't ever mentioned it to me.

I thoroughly understand what everyone is saying about how they seem to want people to know as little of what is happening as possible - my birth with ds is a fair example of that, plus I find my midwives (I have two locally that just work as a team) don't bother telling me anything, just murmur 'that's fine'. Drives me up the wall.

Going to miss you YF, hope you are back on soon xx

Went to GP today, on Sunday night my tounge turned green, looked like it was peeling and had ulcers at the back (sorry if tmi!) then last night I couldn't swallow, and I have a pain at the front and accross the back like you get when you've swallowed something too big and it hurts??? Went to the doctors, as dh thought it could be glandular fever or similar (have had tonsils out) who diagnosed - indigestion. She prescribed -one- spoon of gaviscon which would apparently sort it out, but tightwad wouldn't even give me a prescription for it!!!! lol. Needless to say I don't think it's indigestion as I get that anyways after eating fruit. I am worried it's our water filter - don't suppose anyone has heard of this? We have one of those brita things, and I have to admit I'm far too lazy and half the time don't bother with it. But since for some reason I can only drink water atm, I changed the filter saturday night when we got back off hols, and have been drinking water solidly ever since, and I was wondering if it may be a dodgy filter ie over-chemicalling the water??? I stopped today after seeing her, and it already feels a little better but then I don't know obviosuly if that's it...

Anyways will stop ranting now!

melsy · 21/06/2006 09:26

Ahhhh what a shame I missed you Yellowfeathers. I spent hours at the hospital again yesterday and then came home and fell asleep , as my mum sorted dd and nursury runs as I was vvv wobbly.

Yellow if you read this ,I wanted to see how you were doing with the panic attacks and wondered if you wanted to CAT me as Ive been there and got through them. Lets hope you can find somewere to get online. I really hope that the move goes really well. Always christen a new house with a chinese takeaway on unpacked boxes!!!!

If you dont get online until after the babs comes , I wish you and baby well and a quick delivery xxxxxxxx IM sure we will all get together again on a post natal grp hey guys !?.

Sal & Eeny Ive got so frustrated with you and your rh neg results, I dont get much of it , but hope you get it sorted asap.

Soooo on top of everything else , I have the early onset of anaemia , as my iron count is lower than it should be for my weeks. So have to have bloods done for it again every 2 weeks, Ive also started on the ferrous sulphate, which is nasty as you can get all bunged up, Ive just taken the 1st with Oj , but wonder what else I can have to help absorb it??? might start a thread. The midwife at hospital yesterday didnt think the floradix I am taking is enough to help. Now I know why Ive been so giddy and my heart beat has been vvvv pronounced.

Also Ive been going by my weeks on numbers my dh wrote on the calender !! so he made me 40wks the week after my due date !! So today if I go by baby measuring 2 days earlier , I am 32+6 not 31+6 !!! EEEEKKKKKKKKK only 7 weeks to go not 8 !!!!!

Anyone else pacing their room at 2am !??? I cant seem to breathe properly and get in a right tis, so have to get up and try my breathing excersise. Id like to be able to mediatate somehow , but I just cant seem to regulate my breathing. Im sure its a mix of anxiety and my anaemia as Im feeling it right now.

melsy · 21/06/2006 09:26

sorry , not sure why my posts are wayyyyy long suddenly, just seem to have so much to get out.

babylily · 21/06/2006 10:03

melsy - I'm very anaemic and have been taking spa-tone sachets as well as the ferrous sulphate to try and get my levels back to normal (the results of my blood test that confirmed I was anaemic had sat on my doctors notes for 8 weeks before anyone thought to inform me!). I wash my morning and evening tablet down with a glass of fibogel (sp)to try and avoid the inevitble constipation. It's working so far (only 5th day of taking the tablets though)
when exactly do we start blooming again???

melsy · 21/06/2006 10:15

Hi baby lily , what is spa tone? Were do I get that from? Fibogel makes me seriously gag, so not sure what I can take\eat as substitute? Its vvv high fibre yes?

How are you feeling with it? are you also giddy and lightheaded? Im not sure how I can drive feeling like this. SOOO bad that they hadnt taken note of it earlier.

melsy · 21/06/2006 10:16

oops my last sentance was about you and it being on yuor notes for8wks, you must have been fuming.

SnowBoo · 21/06/2006 10:40

I've still got to go and get my iron tablets. Another anaemic one here! Someone else suggested Spatone, you get it in Boots apparently.

melsy · 21/06/2006 10:46

Are you finding it difficult snowboo? I dont even think I can drive today , as feeling so zonked Im sitting with dd here and cant keep my eyes open. The whole room is spinning.

babylily · 21/06/2006 10:52

melsy - I've been advised against driving (but then I have low blood pressure too which isn't a great combination!)
I am terribly breathless and dizzy, so much that I can't sleep very well as I feel like I'm suffocating! saying that, I'm much better today as it's less humid than lately which seems to help.
I got my spatone in a health food shop.
One useful bit of advice my mw gave me- don't drink regular tea as it stops your body absorbing iron.
This week I am mostly eating spinach too!

melsy · 21/06/2006 11:07

My bp goes from normal to very low all the time too, glad its not just me that cant drive easily, its that weird woozy feeling that comes over you suddenly. What are you doing about getting things or getting to places babylily ? My mum and sis are comig to the rescue , but I feel funny not being self sufficent , Im becoming quite reliant on their help now, its lovely that they are there , but I feel guilty getting them run around after me. Totally getting the suffocating feeling when laying down too , its awful.

yes I I forgot about the tea thing, esp with the milk in, I sooo forgot and drank all the milk in my cereal this morn, but abstained from tea!!!

hmmm now for a nice slab of steak please, wish I could eat it rare inside though.

I read you need to eat more vit c , I dont think just having a OJ is enough, so gotta get a list of high vit c stuff that isnt overy acidic for me,as I have a rather nasty acid problem , ranitadine at the ready. ooh its such fun !!!

babylily · 21/06/2006 12:12

I'm lucky enough to live in a town where everything is within walking distance, melsy. And now I've finished work I don't have the childcare drop off anymore which helps.
I'm consuming vast amounts of oranges, so Vit C must be well high - but no good for you with the acid thing.

PinkTulips · 21/06/2006 12:38

hello all, finally back. christening was a nightmare, ceremony was lovely and dd was a little angel but mother took over and ruined the rest of the day.

PinkTulips - your DD looks like a total darling!!! I'm sorry your mother messed things up... you kind of expected that didnt you. It's a shame. Was your DD unaware of the tension? She looks beautiful in that dress!

Lunavix - sorry I've lost track, are you RH neg too? Not all trusts give the anti-D in pregnancy, some just give you an injection after the birth IF there are anti-bodies in the cord blood. I'm sorry about what has gone on with your tongue - that sounds really painful. I have to admit it doesnt sound like a digestion thing to me. And also, ALL pregnant women are supposed to get Gaviscon on prescription in the NHS. I get it all the time. Your GP doesnt sound very helpful. I'm sorry I dont know what could be causing it but I would have thought the water filter was safe.

Melsy, Babylily & Snowboo - Anemia sounds pretty rough - I am sorry for you that you have to deal with it. Is it just for the pregnancy or do you have it all the time?

Arabica · 21/06/2006 13:05

PT, your little one looks lovely. Sorry to hear your mum ruined it, what did she do--you have our permission to rant and vent freely!
Am sitting in internet cafe feeling v chilled, as went to new pg yoga class and was only person to turn up, so I got 90 mins personal tuition geared completely to my needs and abilities. The class I used to do had about 30 members, all of whom were having v straightforward pregnancies, and who were mostly interested in ways to cope with labour, so I found it hard to relate, what with being too posh to push, and all.

Arabica · 21/06/2006 13:09

BTW sorry to hear about the anaemia. I had it last time and nothing helped, except the dreaded iron tablets that turn your poo black.
Melsy, I find it hard to get to sleep too, but that's partly because I am having to share a room with DS as well as DH whilst painters are in and they both snore, snuffle, fart and kick the whole night through--but they don't wake each other up, only me!

PinkTulips · 21/06/2006 13:12

yup, i expect my mother to interfere with most aspects of my life so not surprised! dd had a ball, she was sooo good and even when she got seriously overtired she just kept smiling

yellow... i dunno if you'll be able to sneak to an internet cafe to chat to us but i hope the move is going ok and that we hear from you soon

pucca, just looked at your photos and they are just so cute! can't get over how clearly you can see everything.

i've lost track of who's not feeling well so to avoid missing anyone out heres a hug hug for the lot of ye.... {{{HUG}}}

arabica, your c-section date is so close! can't get over how soon your going to meet your lo, and thats good news about him not being rushed for the op right away, at least you'll have time to get to know him before he's put through all that.

my dad and dp got a right show the other night when bump decided to show off for 5 hours straight of absolutely manic kicking and rolling. my dad was laughing his ass off and dp has given me a massage every night since he feels so sorry for me! it seriously looked like the little fella was trying to kick his way out through my tummy

sorry for the long post, been in mumsnet withdrawal without the pc!

PinkTulips · 21/06/2006 13:25

arabica, my mother decided to throw a session for her and her neighbours who don't even know dd and aren't even catholic. even my dad didn't know she's invited them as what we'd planned was for all the relatives to go to the pub. that way dp's family would have been right by the bus stop to get back that evening and he wouldn't have had to spend all day driving people back and forth, and we could have brought dd back to a nice quiet house when she got tired and given her some dinner.

instead the house was overrun with drunk people who didn't even know us and poor dd had no chance of getting any food or sleep all day. she eventually fell asleep sobbing in my arms up in the bedroom and i was stuck up ther for 2 hours as i couln't leave her on the bed (wooden floors for her to roll onto) and not one person came up to offer me a cuppa or even see if i was ok! once dp's family headed off he was totally ignored.

my poor dad pissed too as he was dying sick with a flu and had taken the day as his first day off since he opened his business in july, he normally works 12 hours a day 7 days a weeks and was looking forward to having a nice day with his granddaughter as he never gets to play with her, instead his house was overrun with people drinking alcohol he can't afford to pay for and he got hardly any time with dd.

o dear.... didn't meant to rant quite that much

SnowBoo · 21/06/2006 13:38

PT, what a little cutie! Like butter wouldn't melt....

I can't drive now because i'm sooo tired and lethargic and too big to fit comfortably behind the steering wheel! Have a big car so makes me feel like a monster not being able to fit anymore.

Sleep???? Whats that??? Ds is in our bed as we are decorating his room in prep for the baby. He actually woke me up to tell me i had too much space!!!! Wouldn't mind but it's MY bed, even dh knows not to push his luck otherwise i don't let him in it......! Up loads in the night needing to pee, then get thirsty so have some water, then need to pee some more! Arghhhhh.

And swelly legs, so uncomfortable i want to chop them off.

Apparently chickpeas are a good source of iron, along with almonds, cashews and eggs.
List here for you:
'Red meat: beef, lamb, mutton
Sardines, pilchards
Bran Flakes, All Bran, Special K, Weetabix.
Beans, peas, lentils.

Eat some grapefruit, orange, blackcurrants, strawberries, kiwi fruit after every meal.'

Sorry, just typed list from hosp. Oh, and mustn't forget the 'green leafy vegetables' Bleugh!

olivo · 21/06/2006 14:15

PT - she's gorgeous! was it your mum who was trying to make you wear a flouncy red dress?

sorry to hear about all the anaemia - i fear i'm heading that way too but so far my bloods are showing just about ok.

sports day today - if i hear one more person say to me - " oh, so you'll be doing the teacher's relay then will you?", i'll go mad why am i so grumpy?!?! they're only trying to be nice!
