Re baby clothes, don't forget that for many of us Christmas is coming up - if your relatives are sensible (like mine) they'll ask what you want/need for baby. I'm planning to suggest stuff like Cot Mattress (will use crib for first couple of months at least) and Baby Monitor with the idea that eg MIL, BIL and SIL could club together to get a better one than we could afford alone. I'm counting on most of our friends having the same attitude to buying baby presents that we do - walk into Babys R Us/Boots/Mothercare and buy the nearest cute looking outfit/handy looking toy for a fiver! My elderly (as in 70+) relatives will just post a cheque so that will either go towards big purchases or be put into a savings account for later. I don't expect any presents at all, but can predict people's behaviour based on their previous history iyswim, eg several people I know who enjoy knitting have asked if I'd like them to make things Blush

Ellie, could you compromise and get books about pregnancy/parenting? Baby recipes, potty training, sleep training...

Hiya everyone not been online for a few days and my goodness I miss so much nearly at the end of another thread.

Well my 2 week sick line is up to tomorrow and I told work last week I would be back, have taken a turn for the worse over the weekend with the pain now spread from the left hip/pelvic area now to the middle and right side :( so got another doc appointment today don't think the doc will sign me ack so now feeling terribly guilty.
Been spending some time looking at Christmas presents for DD she keeps asking for a Baby Alive doll and Sylvanian Families lol don't mind the doll but didn't realise how much Sylvanian Families cost!!

I hope everyone is well and enjoying feeling those kicks x

MyDaydream · 10/09/2012 14:15

laura your putting me to shame thinking about Christmas presents. I always assumed Sylvaian Families were expensive because Santa never brought me any!
Our family tend to do token gifts, boxes of chocolates and bottles of Baileys to be enjoyed and shared on the day, which makes them really easy. Hate shopping with DP for his family and point blank refuse to do it for him because they actually do gifts and it's a right pain choosing.

pmgkt · 10/09/2012 14:17

I did all the Christmas shopping this morning. Just needs wrapping now.

What about knitting needles/crochet hook and wool so you can make some nice things for baby Wink I can recommend some crochet books if you like, and I'm sure there's a knitter or two here? Otherwise, Arts and Crafts is a very friendly section on here

I've made it clear that the only people getting pressies this year will be the DN's, and I haven't decided if that includes Big Nephew (19) yet (he likes books so is pretty easy tbh)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/09/2012 15:18

I'm in so much pain today low in my bump and back. Pretty sure it's from all the garden stuff yest but worrying as I can't sit or lay anywhere comfortably! Have pumped my ball up and rocking side to side on that.

I'll be taking newborn to the hospital if I need 0-3 I'll get mil to bring some.

As for Xmas in not finished yet but have decided what to get both dcs for their birthdays which are before Xmas. So I feel organised!

EggsMichelle · 10/09/2012 15:25

Pmgkt that is far too organised, I have just put my list together and ordered some preserve jars (making Mint sauce). The mass baby making in my family this year means only children getting proper presents, everyone else gets mint sauce and chocolates.

I recommend the first Stitch n Bitch book to anyone want to learn to knit, easy to follow instructions and very fun patterns.

Those who had rubbish sleep last night, so did I and I normally sleep brilliantly. Sent home from work for looking tired/ silent reflux killed my voice and freaking everyone out. DH is away all week, so playing obsessively on the iPad before he comes home and tries to play with it!
