Here's a new link for us all to chatter on

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mwahmwah · 09/09/2012 15:34

Ooft yeh, matb1 what's the right time to get that in? My next apptmt not till 29 weeks. Hmmm... Jealous of all u southerners enjoying the sunshine. I've just taken kids and dog to park and picnicked in the rain. Bloody Scotland. Sunshine = midges, everything else = rain.

Stacks · 09/09/2012 16:47

I think you have to inform your company of your due date, and give them your matb1 before the 15th week before the baby is due... So if you take 40 weeks as total, that's before the start of your 25th week. At least, that's what my company said.

I'm just back from visiting 4 adorable week old kittens. I want one :(

EggsMichelle · 09/09/2012 17:07

Stacks NHS (my employer) also says 15wks before due date for MatB1. Although there was a made panic as I was on holiday and my ward was moving and the form went missing briefly!

Messaging you all from my shiny new toy, having lots of fun setting it up and accidentally transferring all 3000+ photos from my laptop onto it, oops!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 09/09/2012 17:55

They don't have to see your mat1b 15 weeks before. You need to inform them when you're going off and if they want it show priof if pregnancy (as spotty says this could be your notes etc) if they decide to be arsey they may insist on your mat1b but my work said they're happy to take my word and girth for it! The midwife generally gives you mat1b at 25 week appt if you ask. they are not keen on giving it to you before although they can give it any time after 20 weeks

Been making my garden a habitable place again. Now I ache. Bath for me when kids asleep!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 09/09/2012 18:11

Snap stacey but I have no dcs yet so the bath is running!

Phew - what a weekend...busy & such lovely weather. Out for dinner on Friday with friends, then DH took me out yesterday to select my birthday pressie (it's my 30th next week) so we picked out a beautiful watch - he also took me for a lovely lunch. Yum! Then we went to The Proms at Hyde Park with some friends which was fab! Free tickets too courtesy of my friend! Grin

Wasn't very well when I got home last night - horrendous cramps followed by diarrhoea (sorry for TMI!) Thought I was going to throw up too and maybe faint Sad Not a good combination! Feel grand today though.

Re: the appointments questions, I had one at 16, then 25, next ones a 28 (for blood tests), then 31, 34, 36, 38, 40 & 41 (hope baby will have arrived before that last appointment!) Grin

eggs Have fun with your iPad! They're fab and verrrry addictive!

mwah I did giggle about your DS Grin

soandsosmum · 09/09/2012 20:40

Hiya

Anyone on here self employed? If so, have you filled in a form to register for maternity allowance? I researched this all back in March but have forgotten to actually DO anything!

Cookiesandcream06 · 09/09/2012 21:13

eggs how exciting.. I'm hopefully getting one next month for my birthday (DP don't let me down!!) I bet u can't put it down!

My appointments were at 16,24,28 and I think then 32 and a few more after that? I have one at 28 for bloods and my Anti D and they are checking my iron in close detail after my problems at birth last time.
I had to say to the midwife about MatB1 she didn't bring it up, and I actually gave it in at 26 weeks as my manager was away for two weeks but I think it's 25.

I think you need to print a form off the Direct Gov website and send that with your MatB1? But I could be wrong. Sorry I've forgotten names am on my phone ! Oh and I found out today I'm getting a payrise but it's a week or two too late to shift my weekly pay above the cut off! Absolutely gutted. So will have to wait for my MatB1 to be returned by my employer before I can even start my MA claim! Confused soooo stressful!!

Got physio tomorrow at the hospital, hoping for some sort of support band as bump is really pulling down already Sad anyone else feeling HUGE and panicking they have 13/14 weeks left?!

ellliebelle · 09/09/2012 22:04

Thank you for all the birthday wishes for dd :) had such a busy weekend dd's birthday on friday and birthday tea with family. Birthday party on saturday then bbq with friends sat night then york races for my birthday today....i am worn out

Got £50 in amazon vouchers for my birthday and just dont know what to spend them on ive had the scarborough warning that it has to be something for me and not baby :)

Very jealous of those with ipads would love one

MyDaydream · 09/09/2012 22:33

We went for a lovely walk through some local woods today, but my bump has started getting so heavy I had to keep sitting on tree roots to rest my back.
Made us a lasagne for dinner, which happened a lot quicker than DPs breakfast this morning!
We've also just rearranged our dining room for the new bed to be stacked in there ready for the move. It surprises me how much direction DP needs and if I'm not constantly telling him what to do next he'll sit back down infront of the tv ignoring everything that actually needs doing. I feel like such a nag! I also might have got a bit angry when he tried to stop me lifting a chair, but I want to stub out the whole pregnant lady can't lift more than a feather for when we move.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2012 06:58

Morning Smile

Wow ellie what will you get with your voucher?!

I'm going to look at a nursery for dd this morning, is it wrong that in excited?! I will obviously be sad when she goes!

PurplePidjin · 10/09/2012 08:26

At dinner last night:

DN (5): Where does the food go?
Me: Pardon, DN?
DN: How does it fit round the baby?

Cue stifled giggles and a brief explanation of the baby being in his own "house" separate to where the food goes...

:o

emilyeggs · 10/09/2012 09:37

Ha ha purple love it! Grin

knottyhair · 10/09/2012 10:51

Very Envy of your voucher Ellie. Hope the nursery is a good one for you Spotty. Grin at your DN Purple.

Crap night's sleep last night, just kept waking up, must've woken up about 8 times. Had a lot of back & hip pain yesterday which seems to be better today though. Hope everyone else is OK.

2blessed · 10/09/2012 10:58

purple your dn is so cute!
Hope everyone is good.
Just back from my 25 week appointment with gp. Everything is cool, bp, urine and bump measurement. Listened to heartbeat which set my tears off -doesn't take much!

Queenofsiburbia · 10/09/2012 11:17

Grin at your DN purple.
I keep thinking of a 'pacman' baby in my tummy gobbling up all the sausages I ate at last nights BBQ!

I slept badly last night due to hip & back pain too. Makes me nervous of whats to come!
Am working on DH to agree to a new bed. We're still using his old student one which is very uncomfie.

My dog thinks bump is best invention ever as his head rest. Hmm.

PurplePidjin · 10/09/2012 11:33

DNephew is awesome (so is DNiece but being non-verbal and severely autistic, she's awesome in other ways) - my Mum reckons if our lad turns out like him we'll be doing ok (he's DP's Sister's child) :o

On being told he would be getting a new baby cousin:

"It could be two babies, which is twins. Or it might be three and that's called triplets"

After we took him to the owl sanctary:

"Uncle Pidj, you eat chicken"
"Yes, DN"
"Why don't you eat owls"

Cue lots of umming and ahhing and several forums plus facebook consulted to find the answer! FWIW, DSIL is veggie so the kids don't eat much meat, but she has asked us to introduce him to stuff (he comes to us in the holidays for a bit of respite) becuase he's quite a faddy eater.

I love being an Aunty (only child), hope being a parent has moments like this among the poo and drudgery!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2012 12:12

Nursery was lovely wish I could afford to send her now Sad have to wait until January though

gilsbubbles · 10/09/2012 12:39

I'm just about to makje a start on my shopping list... very exciting. What size of baby clothes are you buyng for the hospital bag?? There seems to be lots of conflicting advice Small Baby/ Newborn /0-3 months I'm guessing i'll need a couple of sizes since I won't know till he/she arrives how big they are?

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2012 12:42

I would take some newborn and some 0-3. Dd was in newborn for ages but my friends dd (who was only 10oz more) only just fitted her long legs into 0-3!

Is anyone having a girl who would like some newborn/0-3 vests? I can't bare to get rid of them without knowing they'll be appreciated!

PurplePidjin · 10/09/2012 13:01

I've got 3 vests and 3 sleepsuits in Up To 1 Month size (cheapie plain white in Tesco) for my hospital bag. Everything else will be 0-3 probably, because I can ask Mum or MIL to get some on their way to visit. Also, I plan to use cloth nappies so will probably need to size up to get the fit :)

Spotty, we went to a nearly new sale on Saturday and dp found a beautiful brand new fluffy white snow suit, it was lovely to be able to buy it from the owner (she'd bought it but been given several so it never got used) and she seemed delighted that it was going to a good home - would it be worth having a table at one? If you don't have enough stuff, split the cost with a mate or two and share a table take it in turns to buy yummy cake to stuff yourselves with

MyDaydream · 10/09/2012 13:16

Spotty glad the nursery was a good one. We've found one that looks amazing online/looking in but we've not been to it, I keep flipping between staying off for 9 months then finding a new job, or just not going back at all and staying home.
gils I'll take some newborn and some 0-3, although we're not buying that much newborn stuff, like Pidj just some plain whites. I don't want to waste my money if he turns out to be too big for them, or grows out overnight.

ellliebelle · 10/09/2012 13:19

Spotty my dd starts nursery in january too she loved it when we went to look round last week wasnt happy when we had to leave she is definately ready for it but like you cany afford to send her :( (free place in jan)

Im not sure whatvto spend voucher on. I use bare minerals make up and skincare so umming and arring about that. I find it difficult to spend that much money on make up would have been easier if dh had juat bought it then i wouldnt have tjought anything of the money :) i also fancy the hunger games dvd as read the books on holidayvthis year an loved them
