Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kayzr · 28/03/2012 08:06

I want to book June 8th or June 22nd as birth-day Grin The 8th is my Nans and my mums is the 22nd.

Davina, hops baby comes on Friday. It would be very cool to all be Friday baby's.

aBundanceOfTime · 28/03/2012 09:05

Friday it is then Davina! You hear that baby? Grin
Midwife told me lying down/resting can quite often slow things down (I had a bath when I was in labour with Lilly and everything practically stopped for half a day).
Good luck today!

Unfortunately my toe is indeed really painful and purple. Very purple. Never used to be this clumsy, the children broke me! Grin

ghosteditor · 28/03/2012 09:06

Davina, sounds very much like latent labour to meGrin. I didn't have that though so don't take my word for it Wink.

Fx for some very good news at your monitoring appt.

Ooohhhhh it all sounds promising Davina. I reckon your wishes will come true and this will be a Friday baby :)

Your poor toe Bun. Have you got it strapped to the next toe? How long will it take to heal?

I'm feeling like a bit of a melon ladies...do you mind if i offload my latest over-reaction? It's DP's birthday today and i was making a fuss of him this morning/making breakfast/cards/presents and so on. Then DP accidentally decapitated the Orchid we're looking after for my parents while they're on a 2 month holiday. He was totally mortified and so annoyed with himself. And then I couldn't help it but I cried!!!!! I just felt so rubbish about it because I got it for Mum 2 years ago as a Mother's Day present and i've been nurturing it so carefully while they've been away. It was blooming new flowers practically every day and I was so chuffed with myself. Parents are back in 2 weeks and basically I was looking forward to giving it back to them looking so lovely. But now it's just 2 stems!!!!!!! I'm not upset with DP because it was a total freak accident, but I just feel rubbish about it in myself. I know Mum wont be upset because it was looking a bit ropey when she gave it to me. Oh well, these things happen! Pregnancy hormones are ruling the roost right now!! On a happier note, tonight DP and I are off to have dinner at a Michelin Star restaurant:o Neither of us have ever been to one before and DP's wanted to go for a long time. We're both really looking forward to it.

Right, going to pull myself together and go and worry about things that actually matter!

Happy sunny Wednesday all :)

aBundanceOfTime · 28/03/2012 13:19

Aw Mamma I really don't miss those hormones! Smile Hope your DP has a lovely birthday, am very Envy at the Michelin star restaurant!! Lovely.

Yes, I've strapped the toe to the one next to it which has definitely helped 'comfort' wise. They said 4-6 weeks to heal Sad It's lucky the weather's nice enough for sandals because it's my little toe so no hope of getting proper shoes on for a while! Toe is purple and about a quarter of my foot is a lovely shade of blue Shock My favourite colours Grin

Just to let you all know, Trope is fine, suffering with water retention and bump big enough to make typing difficult! Smile

MammaInTheMaking · 28/03/2012 14:13

I was thinking about Trope last night, so it's good to hear that she's ok. How many weeks is she now? Pain in the bum with the water retention and making her feel uncomfortable :( Can't be very much longer for her now though :):)

Just had lunch with DP (we work at the same place) and am feeling much better about the orchid incident. I think i'll just get her a new one. Although the flowers on it were beautiful the leaves were really manky! Haha, can't believe I let myself get so upset about a plant Blush. I can definitely tell that i'm getting more worked up and frustrated at people the longer the pregnancy goes on. Pre-preg nothing really bothered me, but now i can actually feel the tension in me when something's annoying me. I hope that goes pronto at the end of 9 months.

Good job with the weather and your toe Bun, let's hope it stays sunny and warm :o

Awwwww baby's being so cute right now, last night DP was stroking the belly lots and then the baby moved over to get its back rubbed!!! DP was so chuffed with himself.

aBundanceOfTime · 28/03/2012 15:03

Just had a look at the stats and Trope's EDD is April 11th so that makes her 38weeks today!! Shock Can't believe how quickly it's all going!

That's so lovely re the back rub Smile

Have just posted a couple more recent pictures of Lilly and Oliver. Oh and one of the cake I made for DS's birthday last year Grin He's requested that he helps to make this years though and we're having mini chocolate muffins so I'm a little relieved that I won't be able to get carried away! Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 28/03/2012 15:20

Squeal!!! So it's Davina any day now and then Trope's Fuzzy will be making an appearance :)

Davinaaddict · 28/03/2012 15:56

So been back to the hospital and all still fine Smile I think this is similar to DS, as the lying down definitely slowed things down with him as well. But there was no way I was stopping up for the night just to get things moving! I'm hoping that staying attached to my birth ball for the next 2 days is enough for baby to finally make an appearance Grin The good news is that now I've been back on the ball for about an hour, things are moving again Grin Getting more tightenings and lost lots more mucus this morning again (sorry about TMI!) We'll get there eventually!

Your toe sounds horribly painful, but a fabulous colour Bun Smile Hope it feels better soon. Really glad trope is ok. Tell her we're thinking of her and miss her! and not that I'm hoping that she doesn't do what Trouble did, and beat me to it as well Grin

Aw Mamma The hormones are terrible aren't they! At least you get to finish the day off nicely though Smile Have you got a fabulous outfit all planned?

Bun, your babies are far too gorgeous! Those photos are beautiful Smile And that cake is fab - very Envy at your skills. I wish maths & logic were that interesting, as I so don't fit on this thread with all you arty, talented people Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 28/03/2012 16:15

Bun i can't believe you made that cake! HOW ON EARTH????? I'm lucky if i get a muffin to rise! Your little ones are adorable, how cute is Lilly's smile???

Great news Davina keep going on the ball, it's obviously really helping. Maybe the sunbathing helped too?

Well thankfully this particular restaurant is more casual than uber posh so i'm wearing a dress i wear to work. i don't have anything fabulous to fit and resent buying anything really. I've also got my legs out for the first time this year and they are basically translucent! Oh they need the sun!

TroubleAndFyfe · 28/03/2012 16:15

Argh...too much to respond to! Gorgeous photos bun, sorry about your toe, yay for trope being okay and it being nearly time for baby trope!
Hooray mamma for getting over the orchid incident (I'd have cried too) and very Envy about your meal out tonight!
Nearly there davina, more plug is good news, Just think, those newborn hugs will be even sweeter (if that's possible) for the wait! Grin
Good you've got some dates for baby to choose from kayzr! Smile
Fyfe is cuddled up on me dreaming and making the cutest noises Grin

aBundanceOfTime · 28/03/2012 16:52

Thanks ladies. If I'm honest it was easier to make than it looks I think, eg the funnel is a marshmallow rolled in icing and 100's & 1,000's and the 'steam' is popcorn on a straightened out paper clip Grin and I made 4 cakes and cut one up to make the different shapes. It was a nightmare fun! Grin

Lilly does have a fab smile, I think it's those gorgeous chubby cheeks that do it Smile

Woohoo Davina!! I don't think you'll make it to Friday, my bet is tomorrow Grin Oh yes that'd be good - two thread birthdays! Smile

trope · 28/03/2012 18:39

Hi folks! Sorry for the really long silence! Thanks bun for updating everyone for me! Grin It's been a crazy few weeks!

MiL is being monitored for a few months to see if the cancer grows/appears anywhere else before any decisions about treatment are made - so we have a little breathing space to have fuzzy / be home for a while before worrying about getting her through chemo, surgery etc.

I am doing OK - we had a bit of a scare with my health problems last week, that looked like they might have tipped me into premature labour, but didn't in the end (phew!) Then at the end of the week, my water retention/bloating suddenly got massively worse (as in, can't wear trousers after about 4pm because my legs are so fat they don't fit in them and can't get my feet into any shoes anymore - thank heavens for the sunny weather!) which was worrying as it can be a sign that pre-eclampsia may be coming - plus it's put enormous pressure on my poor arthritic joints (I put on 4kg in 10 days and weigh a scarily large amount now - it's all water, so should go away easily post birth, but makes walking/moving around tricky!) so i'm now on BP/urine checks every other day. So far, my BP is really low still and I only have trace protein, so things are looking hopeful - hurrah! But my fat hands / huge bump are making typing particularly tricky (you should have seen this post pre-typo fixing!!)

Having done battle with my obstetrician and refused induction of any sort prior to 40 weeks we've now changed our minds as we're concerned about my health and I shall be having a sweep next wednesday at 39 weeks exactly! I'll then be monitored in maternity triage every other day over the bank holiday (as the day unit I usually go to is shut) and will have additional sweeps done as needed in an attempt to get things going without the aid of any hormones/other interventions! Obviously if my BP goes up/things change then we may have to bring that forward - but we're really hoping to make it one more week!

I think things are heading towards labour though naturally anyway; my bump has hugely dropped, fuzzy is super low (I walk like a fat man with enormous sore testicles!!) i've got lots of lower back ache and very frequent painful braxton hicks! So I live in hope that fuzzy is going to come of his own accord before then anyway! They pegged him at 7lbs 5 at my scan when I was 36+5, so he's still on track to be big, but not quite as HUGE as we had feared (if they are indeed right, that is!)

I've stuck a photo of me, taken this afternoon, up on my profile (let me know if i've left any of you off the list of people who can see it! I think I updated all the names!) It doesn't compare to all the cute baby pics (so many cute babies on this thread!!) but until fuzzy comes along it's all I've got! Wink

I haven't a hope of properly catching up - but I am reading / lurking as best I can! :)

Trouble Fyfe is absolutely gorgeous! It's amazing how much he looks like he did in the scan pictures!! Lovely photo of the two of you together too! Grin So glad it's all going well - sounds like you're having a splendid time!!

Bun OUCH to the toe!! Hope it heals quickly! I broke my little toe right at the base years ago - back in my student days when I drank rather a lot I should point out... decided it couldn't possibly be broken, put on 4 inch heels and went out clubbing!! Shock My foot was black in the morning!! It's definitely a painful one to break!! If I were you i'd head to the beach, eat maroccos ice cream all day (it's medicinal you know! Wink) and do nothing - with an injury like that you can't be too careful!!

davina OOOH! It's so exciting!! I hope you get to go first - you've been waiting so long now!! Have everything crossed for you!!

mamma don't worry about the crazy hormonal responses - I have had some impressively daft meltdowns in the last few weeks!! Nice to know i'm not alone! Grin Fuzzy responds to DP too - whichever side of me DP is sat on, that's the side fuzzy puts his body!! He responds so clearly to DP I really can't wait for fuzzy to come out and see the two of them together! Nothing more attractive than a new dad smitten with his kid if you ask me!! Grin

Aaand that's me done! Big fat hands need a break now!!

Good luck Davina - I'll be checking in to see when you sprog so I can tell fuzzy it's his turn next!!

Davinaaddict · 29/03/2012 00:03

Looks like you were right Bun We're just off to hospital now. Pains started about 11pm every 3-4 minutes Hopefully will have some news by morning Smile

aBundanceOfTime · 29/03/2012 00:51

Woooooo!! Go Davina!! Grin Grin Best of luck!

aBundanceOfTime · 29/03/2012 01:04

Sorry - ahem - got carried away! Nice to see you back on the thread Trope! Grin
You are looking amazing!! Shock Hope everything continues to go well for you, so exciting to hear that you're getting close! Feel free to send me a text and I'll update the thread when you're in labour Wink Haha! Seriously though, can't wait to meet little fuzzy Smile

Marrocco's is totally on the recovery list thanks for that Smile (any excuse)

TroubleAndFyfe · 29/03/2012 02:37

Wooohoooo! davina! Fabulous news! C'mon baby davina! Grin
trope lovely to hear from you, glad you and fuzzy are well but Sad about the water retention, how horrid. I had to wear my compression tights for 2.5 weeks after the birth but am now fine except my fingers are still too fat to get my engagement ring on - my wedding ring has fitted for 2 weeks...bloody water! Hmm you are very cute looking gorgeous in your photo!Grin it is really nearly fuzzy time, hooray! Will be nice to have another boy around, everyone on the march thread had girls (though 2 are still to give birth) statistically rather odd, no? Confused

Davinaaddict · 29/03/2012 03:53

So, I'm clearly not cut out for this labour malarky Sad I managed 4 hours of contractions before I got an epidural put in and when they examined me when we got here I was still only 1-2 cm It felt sooooo much further than that. Sad Baby is fine, and they've broken my waters to check everything is ok. And I've loads of really bad pains on my scar so they've pretty much prepped me for CS now, although they're going to do another examination at 6am to see how things are going. Sad Hoping I can still go through with a VBAC but we'll just have to wait and see. I really feel like a bit of a spare part now and really disappointed with how things are going But as long is baby is ok, then I'm happy. It won't be too much longer before lovely snuggles though Smile

TroubleAndFyfe · 29/03/2012 05:29

Sad davina, don't feel down hearted, you're in labour and your baby is coming to you one way or another, that's the important thing, totally understandable to be disappointed but if your scar is hurting there's nothing you could have done differently, in fact you have done a hell of a lot more than most women would have to avoid a CS and give yourself the best chance of a VB so don't beat yourself up, you don't deserve it! Smile xxx

Kayzr · 29/03/2012 06:32

Davina don't feel Sad you're doing a brilliant job. I hope you'll be having baby cuddles very soon!!

ghosteditor · 29/03/2012 07:50

Davina you're doing a fab job, don't be sad! You've tried your hardest for this baby and now it's time to take the safest option for everyone, whatever that might be. The contractions and pain will be affected by the baby's positioning so you can't do anything about that! Good look! [waves pom poms]

Oh god, the water retention! I was huuuuge with loads of water (related to the pregnancy induced hypertension) and dropped 12 kilos in 5 days after the birth! Still a lot to go though. My wedding ring only went back on at about six weeks and like trouble I still can't squeeze two rings on the same finger. I did however manage to squeeze back into some size 10 summer cropped jeans - it may not be pretty but at least it's cooler in this weather! When all the swelling came down it revealed an impressive swollen ankle from my late pg fall!

Sorry for all the trouble going on trope - can't post more now as DD is fretting, but hope all goes well.

And GO DAVINA!!!!

OP posts:
elliebug · 29/03/2012 08:15

Davina, what everyone else has said Smile also I'm super impressed with how you've stuck to what you want with the whole going overdue thing and I hope I can be the same, hope that makes senseHmm
Hello trope, It is obviously the month for misbehaving babies all round, hopefully they will have got it out of their systems now Smile will try and turn pc on for proper post laterSmile

aBundanceOfTime · 29/03/2012 08:32

Oh Davina you're doing amazingly well! I'm not sure how well I would have coped in your position. Grin
Here's hoping that you're enjoying gorgeous newborn snuggles Smile

foolserrand · 29/03/2012 08:46

More pom poms reporting for duty over here! Go team Davina! Your baby is on its way and, however it gets to you, you have succeeded. So impressed about all you've done up to now. Really excited for you!

Hi Trope! Waves. Sorry you're still having to deal with so much, but glad you get some time just the 3 of you. But you need to stop getting close to labour now dear, I'm only 15 days behind you and so incredibly not ready! Water retention or not, you look incredible in that photo.

Those of you falling/bashing and hurting/breaking things.... stop it right now! Hobbling and bruises is most unfetching in this weather! fools is not one to talk as she walked into a step stool, smashed her shins and based her face on a cupboard door

So, we have been making the most of this weather. Zoo yesterday. Ds got through all the animals within the first hour of being there so we spent the rest of the day in the outdoor play parks. Very proud of him, he has been out of nappies day and night now since Sunday with no accidents!

So, we ordered some furniture (fitting bambini alexia vanilla range if anyone cares). Dh spent way more than I feel was necessary but he wanted the "free" glider chair. Got to give the man something!

Aaaaaand I've forgotten everything else I wanted to write. Shocking memory. I'm going to blame it on ds waking me up just before 5 so he could have help weeing Hmm then sleep with us. It's got nothing to do with being on my feet all day then not going to bed until late.

Bun your kids are so cute! And the cake is fab! My only creative flair is released with cakes. Last year was a 3 tier in the night garden affair. Took us days and 2l of vodka to construct that monster. Will hunt for a photo.

aBundanceOfTime · 29/03/2012 09:04

Thanks Fools Smile that cake sounds amazing! Would love to see a photo!

Sorry to hear you've been beating youself up too Sad they say guilt is an inevitable part of motherhood (must read that thread in discussions of the day) but self flagellation? Taking it a bit far IMHO!

That furniture is lovely! Am especially Envy of the glider chair, would love one, they're so comfy but we don't have the space.
