Hello!! Happy new year and happy new babies, full term healthy ones please Grin

Davinaaddict · 03/01/2012 22:52

Well it is now 2012 so bring on the babies Smile (But only when they're fully baked of course!)

Yay I can post again! Didn't want to in case I filled up the thread before we had a new one (not that I can use the link anyway as I'm on my phone). And Carlita's idea of ghost doing it was a great one.

The wall decals type thing is what he's got now ghost. They are fab, & I'd not seen those on Etsy so I'll have a good look tomorrow when I'm supposed to be working Grin Thanks for the link. I'm with Carlita in hoping baby doesn't keep you waiting too long. How's your birth plan looking (if you don't mind me asking)? (Sorry if you've already said - my memory is non existent these days!)

Like your idea of moving to Post Natal too Carlita Smile Did you have a good NY?

Day 3 of doing my lists has been another success - today's list consisted of keeping the kitchen clean & tidy, drinking more fluids and doing my pelvic floor exercises. It had to be a small one, as I've been working all day and had a rough nights sleep with the whole pregnancy insomnia thing, along with both Disco Baby & DS keeping me awake half the night -yawn! But I also managed to sort a load of washing out as well Smile Hoping tomorrow will be a bit more productive, but unless I get to sleep soon, it's not looking likely. Oh well....

elliebug · 03/01/2012 23:00

Ps, any chance of a stats update, I can't remember where any if us are!! Not even myself if asked when I'm in the middle of something else!! Oh dear.
think this is how we did it!!

Davina, glad you're having productive days: I feel like inhaven't achieved a thing in weeks! And glad you liked the decals - I'm obsessed with the little owls Grin

Good idea with the stats list Ellie - hope I've copied yours correctly as MN doesn't appear to like hash symbols at the moment (fx this copy works!)

Thanks for the shiny new thread Ghost! Hope it brings you lots of luck as the tradition goes Smile How are you feeling? Can't believe you're in the any-minute-now-I-could-go-into-labour stage! Hope you don't have to wait too long! Gosh it's exciting Grin

I have read through all the posts but I think my catch up is going to be ever so slightly lacking - might have to employ Trope to do a proper job for me! Wink

New year's resolutions this year, 1. healthy baby, 2. meet up with Trope again before fuzzy and pirate go off to university Grin

Trope sorry you and your DP have been ill over Christmas, though it sounds like it was a good excuse to take it easy. Fantastic news about fuzzy, he's doing so well!

Weight wise I've put on ... ... 16lbs! Not bad at nearly 37 weeks! Smile I seem to be quite lucky with pregnancy weight, don't know how much I put on with DS but I was one of those people that everyone hates - straight back into pre-preg skinny jeans a few days after birth! Shock I thought it was normal at the time, clueless as I was! Grin Put on all my weight after DS was born though thanks to a bout of depression.

Another one watching OBEM tonight! Love it Smile

I've had my deliveries today - Troll bedside crib (swoon), mattress, sheets, car seat and a big selection of vests and sleepsuits. Very much relieved to have the most important things sorted! Now I just want pirate to arrive so I can be able to walk again! I've not been able to go out since Friday thanks to the PGP Sad

Been getting loads of strong Braxton Hicks contractions the last few days, never noticed them with DS. They're really strange, so strong that it's amazing they don't hurt!

Been trying to find a good 'bun' related nickname - they're all bloody taken! Confused

Nice to see the stats back, good thinking!

The crib looks great bun, well done for getting organised!
I just booked my 4D scan for next Tuesday afternoon! Can't wait! DH and my mum coming and maybe DH's mum too!

aBundanceOfTime · 04/01/2012 21:01

Oh wow! How exciting! Bet you can't wait -I can't wait to see the pics (please) Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 04/01/2012 22:26

Absolutely! DH may even be clever enough to upload a bit of video! Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 05/01/2012 11:17

I have a question.... At what point can I get the MAT B1 certificate for work and who do I get it from?

ghosteditor · 05/01/2012 11:47

Hi mammainthemaking! The form is provided by your midwife and I think it's after 12 or poss 16 weeks

  • it's just a little form filled in by hand. I submitted mine in to work with a letter, boss didn't know what to do with it so sat on it for ages, then was out of the office when the accounts team asked for it urgently at 36 weeks Angry!!!
OP posts:
MammaInTheMaking · 05/01/2012 13:15

aahhhh ok, so it may be in my notes. Hmmm, i don't remember seeing it. Will have a hunt for it tonight and perhaps give the hospital a call tomorrow. Thanks Ghost!

Carlitawantsababy · 05/01/2012 16:11

mamma my work wanted mine so and made an appointment with GP and he did it and then midwife went to do it at about 25 weeks and I told her I already had it. Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 05/01/2012 16:11

How's the PGP today bun?

aBundanceOfTime · 05/01/2012 18:10

Hi Carlita PGP still awful Sad DP had to drive me to my MW appointment today which is just a short walk away, I was really pissed off! Desperate to go for a nice long walk!

MW appointment was really good, heartbeat strong, and Pirate's in a good position. Head low down, not engaged at all yet but she didn't think it'd be long - we shall see! By some miracle my blood pressure is still perfect - was fully expecting it to be raised!

I caught my reflection in the mirror earlier and couldn't believe how big I've got in the last couple of weeks! Definitely bigger than I was with DS at full term Shock and it's all out front; I still have a visible waist somehow and don't look at all pregnant from behind (which my DP and mum find most amusing). No wonder I'm so uncomfortable!

Davinaaddict · 05/01/2012 21:34

Hi everyone - amazed we've got to 17 posts already!

Hi ellie - great idea on the stats update. I just have to work out how to do it on my phone before I actually post now!

Like the new name Bun even if I didn't realise who on earth you were at first thanks to the baby brain MN so needs a :-P symbol so I can use it for your baby weight comment!Smile Although I'd then take it back for the depression bit Sad. Ooh lovely deliveries - Christmas all over again! Boo for PGP though. It's horrid being housebound when you don't want to be. Good news on Pirate being in a good position. Sounds like we are similar shapes too. MIL commented that I'd grown since Christmas Day. I feel like I'm over stretched as it is so who knows how I'm going to manage with another 9 weeks growth to go! Shock

Video of your scan would be amazing Carlita

Well I'm still doing my lists, although they've been pretty much the same all week because of work. And not sure I'll get too much done over the weekend as its my Dads birthday on Sat and I've had sod all sleep all week so I'd love to get some rest on Sunday. Looks like poor DS's bedroom will be waiting another week Sad. He won't be bothered but I will as I really want him in it for his birthday weekend (22nd Jan). But I'll have to stop stressing otherwise it'll never get done. In other news, I'm getting really fed up of being beaten to a pulp from the inside. Disco Baby has become Kung Foo baby and spends most of his/her time trying to dislocate either my hip bones or ribs. Or if I'm lucky just trying to punch a hole in my bump Sad. It's so painful and so unlike DS was. A small part of me just wants the time to really fly by so this bit can be over. But I know I'll miss being pregnant when baby does arrive - I can't win! And I'm sick to death of moaning all the time - just need to get some sleep and a grip whilst I'm at it Sorry. There I go moaning again!

So stats update Grin

Any news ghost? Am so looking forward to the birth threads! Even more so after watching OBEM today Grin even if they are tempting me to go for an ELCS because I'm a wuss

Hi Mamma - nice to 'see' you Smile

elliebug · 05/01/2012 21:39

Just a quick note to say I definitely got kicked today!! (by peanut) have had some weird feelings for a few days but these were def kicks or punches! Best bit? OH was able to feel them too GrinGrinGrinGrin
Sorry for ignoring everyone else, I'm excited and in my phone so I can't check back and see what you've put!! Bad baby brain today Blush

ghosteditor · 05/01/2012 22:36

Ellie that's fab! I have been meaning to mention in here that my DH could hear the bsby's heart beat through my belly from something like 28 weeks - was very exciting and he still likes to listen now Grin

Thanks ladies - no real signs as yet, though I'm actually having a bout of regular braxton hicks right now after a few quiet days, so hopefully my body is gearing up (39 weeks now). Haven't told DH as am sure it's a false alarm and he has a check ride tomorrow (think driving exam for pilots!) but am hopeful that things will get going soonish. Could easily still be several days (or weeks!) though...

OP posts:
ghosteditor · 05/01/2012 22:45

And WHAM - mentioning the braxton hicks has of course stopped them entirely Hmm

OP posts:
Kayzr · 05/01/2012 22:46

Mamma it always used to be after 20 weeks you got the MatB1 form. Could be different now.

trope · 06/01/2012 10:44

Yay - new thread!! Fingers crossed it brings you luck ghost! Grin

I think keeping the thread going on through post-natal and beyond is a lovely idea! Grin

Lots to catch up on - sorry if I miss anything!

davina 2 stone in 6 months isn't that much at all!! The average gain in pregnancy for someone of average weight to start with is 2.5-3 stone, so you're pretty much bang on the money!! I've just put on a freakishly small amount - am assuming I'll put more on in the final trimester so I have some fat stores for breastfeeding!!

DP and I are looking at using wall decals for fuzzy's room - we even picked one out (this one with the tree in white, the birds orange and the decal wall in "blue reflection" with the rest either white or light grey) but then noticed the price and we're now wobbling rather as it seems like a lot to spend! I also really like this one to go on the wall beside the cot! I figure 90% of the clothes/equipment we're getting for fuzzy are second hand, so perhaps it's OK to splash out on a few key things; buggy, bednest and nursery decor!! Wink

DP and I are watching OBEM this season - i've watched it before, DP hasn't. I want him to see more labours/births/hospital intervention so that when the time comes he isn't freaked out by how it all works/what happens! He wasn't at all keen on seeing the head crowning! I've been watching some of the old induction labours on the website and it's making me even less keen on the idea of being induced, but as it's pretty likely I figure the more I know the better! At least it will help me write a realistic birth plan hopefully!!

ghost I love that you got "the end" in as the final post on the other thread - that's so cool!!

bun Yay for getting the troll crib - they are lovely! Someone linked to them being sold at John Lewis the other day on another thread and I thought they looked so nice!

So far have only had braxton hicks a few times - mainly if I overdo it walking/shopping it seems! They're very odd aren't they!!
Great that pirate baby is in a good position and your BP is low! Hope the PGP lets up a bit soon!

Carlita ooh! A video of the scan would be amazing!! You must be so excited!! Hope you get a lovely clear look at the baby!!

ellie Hurrah for kicks! So lovely that your OH could feel them too!!

ghost how typical with the braxton hicks! Hope your DH's check ride goes well - sounds rather exciting!

All the nursery ideas sound lovely! Grin ellie that's great you can feel your baby, so special and so reassuring!
kayzr you are right, matb1 can only be issued after 20 weeks, I forgot that bit!
I've been super sleepy these past couple of weeks, I'm setting my alarm for 9 but snoozing it till about 11! Thank goodness for working from home!! Blush still, I shan't be able to do it once the wee man is here! I got a lovely bundle of sheets and clothes from freecycle yesterday, when it said a bag I expected a carrier bag, not a bin bag! So we now definitely have enough 0-3 months clothes! Smile the boy feels very big now and I wouldn't be surprised if he was considering DH and I were both 9lbs ish so wonder how long 0-3 months will last?!
On the house front we seem to have finally kicked everyone back into action so things are moving again, very glad as was beginning to feel a bit wobbly about whether we would manage it on time!

MammaInTheMaking · 06/01/2012 11:31

Hellooooo everyone. I must tell you that I had my first real 'baby brain' moment this morning. I noticed DP's eye was a bit red and told him. Anyway, i got really confused with my left and right and was insistant they were the other way round. DP was looking at me in absolute horror that I was getting it so wrong! Then it clicked. Was so weird though!

Carlita that's great that the house buying is moving along again. I hope it's speedy for you and the sellers don't mess you about. I think this one was meant to be though.

Thanks all for the info on the Mat B1 form. I have my 20 scan in 2 weeks but then my next appointment isn't til 28 weeks. I'm under the consultant team rather than midwife so have skipped the 25 (?) week app for some reason. I reckon i'll ask the hospital at 20 weeks how I go about getting this form because I think work will want it before 28 weeks. Anyway, ta for the advice. At least I know i've not missed it.

Ellie yay for kicks and huge yay for your OH being able to feel it! Whoop whoop!

Come on Ghost Baby!! We're all willing for you to make your appearance any day now!!!!!!!!!!

Kayzr · 06/01/2012 12:40

Mamma from what I remember you're meant to give it to your employer at 25 weeks. Or there is something about telling your employer something 15 weeks before your due date. I just can't remember what now.
