MammaInTheMaking · 06/01/2012 13:13

Thanks Kayzr yep, our staff handbook mentions telling them officially 15 weeks before the due date so i need to get a shifty on with this....defo a job for the 20 week scan :)

Time's really starting to race by....

Carlitawantsababy · 06/01/2012 13:53

My mum just told me I was actually 7lb 3, not a big baby at all. Smile strange the things my mind makes up! Still getting comments about what a big baby he's going to be etc. which is still irritating seeing as bump size has very little relevance! I have more than my fair share of stretch marks now, increasing by the day (please don't mention creams and oils, they make no difference, it's genes and luck) which is a shame as have the scan on Tuesday and feel nervous that someone will say something about them. Probably sounds stupid, I'm okay with them, nor exactly delighted but considered them kind of inevitable, but, don't want the mums to say anything (even sympathetic and well meaning) as I think it will upset me! Hah, hormones eh?

ghosteditor · 06/01/2012 14:31

Carlita the MWs won't say anything re stretchmarks unless you bring it up - they'll be used to stretched out tattoos/piercingly all sort! Don't worry; they'll fade fast! Have you tried scar serum to heal the scars (rather than oil to prevent them iyswim?). That's what I've been using on the marks on my legs.

Trope love those wall decals - I say just do it Grin

Still no real resumption of BHs even though I went out for coffee with another MNer and we wandered around for a couple of hours. Sigh. I think this baby may obstinately go overdue!

Carlitawantsababy · 06/01/2012 15:15

I'm not worried about the midwives saying anything (they'd better not!) but my mum and DH's mum, anyway, probably worrying about nothing, I'm sure they'll be more sensitive than that! I know they'll fade so don't really bother me, I had them on hips and thighs already and you can barely see them unless really close up, wouldn't stop me wearing a bikini etc. can't Imagine I'll be bikini ready for about a year anyway so they'll be faded by then, really not bothered just having a wobble because no one else on the march forum has them so thinking that it's very rare at 29 weeks and that the mums will therefore be surprised and will therefore comment! Blush

ghosteditor · 06/01/2012 16:06

oh sorry I misunderstood! anyway, fx that they fade fast

I don't have any new stretchmarks but some of the old ones are going a bit pink. Sad

I have a scan tomorrow morning. We booked it so DP can see baby before he goes to work on Tuesday. It is a gender scan so I really hope the baby complies and we find out.

Carlitawantsababy · 06/01/2012 21:41

How exciting re the scan kayzr Grin let us know! Glad I'm not the only one in the world with stretch marks! Wink

Kayzr · 07/01/2012 10:55

I have a very naughty baby that had its back to us the whole time. They'd like me to go back next week to get some pictures but they are 80% certain it's a girl. Grin

elliebug · 07/01/2012 13:13

That's very exciting kayzr, Smile my scan is on mon and we still haven't decided if we want to know!!

Carlitawantsababy · 07/01/2012 13:52

Very exciting kayzr! You have two boys already?Smile

Kayzr · 07/01/2012 13:58

Yeah I've got 2 boys so this is lovely but a shock. I was fully expecting another boy. What do I do with a girl?? Grin

aBundanceOfTime · 07/01/2012 14:19

Aww congratulations Kayzr! I'm still trying to work out what to do with a girl - scary! Grin Lovely that you get to go back next week for another look too!

I'm feeling the stretch mark pain too. Had a few big ones with DS which had faded nicely. Then, in the last week or two, my belly and hips are covered in loads of little, really dark ones! and they're really bloody itchy too Sad

Ellie yay for the kicks! It's so lovely Smile

Ghost DP can hear the the baby's heartbeat too, I'm really jealous! Smile How're you getting on? Are you annoyed at being asked that yet? Sorry Blush Grin

I'm still getting lots of strong BH contractions, still no other signs yet though. I've gone from the symptom spotting of TTC to labour signs! Every little twinge and ache gets analysed way more than is necessary.

ghosteditor · 08/01/2012 18:12

Thanks bun! Still no action here apart from braxton hicks - I've had a couple of nights with regular (but pain free) contractions about 8 mins apart but nothing to show for it! Hopefully it's all good prep Smile

Hope you're all doing well!

OP posts:
aBundanceOfTime · 08/01/2012 21:28

Sounds promising! Good prep indeed, esp wrt the regularity! Hope you're not too uncomfortable Smile

Davinaaddict · 08/01/2012 21:34

Wow for Peanut kicks ellie! And great that your OH could feel them as well Smile

I've already started with Braxton Hicks too ghost, although I'm sure mine are much weaker than yours being 8 weeks behind. It's weird though because I didn't get them at all last time. Just straight into the proper ones all 3 day of them Sending lots of downward thoughts for baby ghost!

Thanks for the nice words about the weight gain trope Smile I finally posted my pics of DS's current room on my profile (although I've put them as MN Mates only and added you all to my mates list so let me know if you can't see them). I also think I might have found some that would work in DS's new room. Next have a digger set that looks nice, so I'm going to have a look at them in the shop, and see if they are as nice as they look in the book/online. And thanks for sorting out the hash symbols - it all looked fine on my phone but clearly something changed between clicking send & it actually posting!

Great news on the freecycle stuff Carlita and about the house. I was thinking about it the other day and was planning on asking you how it was going, so glad things are moving again for you. Good luck for the scan on Tuesday. I'm sure no one will say anything about your stretch marks Smile Mine are going a bit pink too so I'm going to try using DH's Bio oil to see if that helps at all.

Love the baby brain moment Mamma.

Wow congrats on your scan Kayzr Lovely news about a girl! No doubt the boys will fuss over her loads Smile And great that you get to back for another look!

Well I was right - not much has been done this weekend, except seeing my Dad yesterday. I even had a sleep on the sofa today Grin. But my kitchen is very tidy, and I dd manage to dig all the decorating stuff out of the garage and promptly leave it in the kitchen cluttering the place upGrin Just need to actually do it now! But next weekend is completely free, so fingers crossed it will be a productive one.

ghosteditor · 08/01/2012 21:41

That's interesting Davina - do you think you're just noticing them more this time? I too have had regular BHs on and off since about 33/34 weeks, but they're stronger now - not really painful but some have been uncomfortable. Pamplemousse is now squirming around into my cervix which is most uncomfortable!

OP posts:
aBundanceOfTime · 08/01/2012 22:32

I didn't notice any BH's with DS either and hadn't felt any in this pregnancy until the last week when they've been really strong. Have read somewhere that its quite common to have stronger BH's in subsequent pregnancies.

Davina your DS's room is so nice! Smile A friend of mine got quite a few bits from the Digger range in next and was raving about them, so I think you can class that as a recommendation Smile

Davinaaddict · 09/01/2012 14:25

I might be feeling BH more, this time ghost and might just not remember having them last time - it was 2 years ago so highly likely, given my baby brain Grin. Interesting about them being stronger in subsequent pregnancies though Bun, especially as I'm only 31 weeks now. They're not painful, or even uncomfortable in the main yet, which is probably because it's so early on. Don't envy the cervix squirming though, although I know that my time will come despite me burying my head in the sand around the whole pain issues that labour will bring Grin

Thanks for the digger recommendations Bun I do love DS's room and it was just what I wanted, which is why I'm finding it so frustrating not being able to find the perfect second room! But the Digger
stuff is nice and my favourite so far so think that might win. Plus I've got some next vouchers which helps. We now have about £5 left of our shopping budget for the next 2 weeks. Luckily the cupboards & freezer are fairly well stocked so we should only need milk between now & then. Who knows what we're going to do about DS's birthday though.....think we might need to stick it on the credit card and be skint again next month. Best get used to that I suppose Confused

Kayzr · 09/01/2012 14:34

Davina I love that room. It is amazing, I would love to do something like that but its awkward here as the house is old and the walls are wonky.

I didn't really have any BH with DS1 but I did with DS2. None yet luckily as I found them annoying.

I have booked to have the scan re done on Thursday. I am hoping for some nice pictures.

Carlitawantsababy · 09/01/2012 18:14

Thanks bun and davina for making me feel a bit more normal with the stretch marks! It is quite amazing how fast they spread, every day I have more! At the moment the are quite light in colour and not very deep, I assume that when they have fully engulfed my belly they will then start turning purple?!
I am surprised at the lack of BH! I get them every day at least 15 times a day and have done since about 22 weeks ish, I generally feel them as a tightness low down, just above my pubic bone but of course if I feel my bump the tightness is all over. I am obeying the aqua natal instructor and making sure I stop whatever I am doing and breathe deeply when I get them to provide maximum blood supply and let them do their best work.
Lovely room davina, very cute.
Am off swimming with DH in a mo, still doing amazingly well with the PGP pain! Hope yours is letting up a bit bun?

elliebug · 09/01/2012 22:19

Had 20 week scan today, everything ok except they couldn't see ?her bum so back next week for another look Smile decided not to find out what colour baby is but as I've been referring to it as her for ages already I'll have a bit of a shock if it's a boy!!
I'm waiting the arrival of stretch marks, my tummy is feeling very tight so in sure they will appear soon!!

aBundanceOfTime · 10/01/2012 09:24

Hi all!

Davina, sorry to hear money's tight at the moment, it really is stressful at the best of times, never mind when you're trying to get DS's room sorted. Sad

Kayzr looking forward to the pictures!

Carlita great to hear you're doing so well with the PGP! Smile Me? Not so much. It's settled a bit, I can walk around the flat with minimal drama but the stairs are still my nemesis and I tend to get stuck in / can't get into the bath/shower and bed. Very frustrating. My lovely but annoying mum is coming back down on Saturday to help out with DS - I've been feeling very guilty and neglectful - so that should be very interesting as she's staying until after Pirate's arrived! Confused Hurry up Pirate!!! Wink

Woohoo for a great scan Ellie! and well done on getting an extra one out of them! Grin
You never know, you might escape with no stretch marks at all and then I'll hate you :P

I've completely forgotten what I was going to say now... Confused

Kayzr · 10/01/2012 09:38

Morning,

Ellie Nice to know its not just my baby that likes to show off their bottom and back!

DP left for work this morning. I am not sure how I will cope without him for 10 weeks but we'll manage. He's currently on his way to Singapore where its very hot but the monsoon season.

Carlitawantsababy · 10/01/2012 10:27

Congratulations ellie! Great news! Grin
bun Sad for the PGP and your mother visiting how nice of your mum to come to help you out! Grin I, thankfully, currently live in a flat, stairs are the worst bit for me too, they aggravate the problem for sure. It is on the emergency jobs list for DSDad to install a loo under the stairs in the new house as until then I will have to stay upstairs or go to my mum's really, I just want to try and avoid it getting worse again!
kayzr SadSadSad poor you, 10 weeks is such a long time! Do you have anyone to help you with the boys whilst he is gone? Do you stay fairly healthy whilst pg?

Kayzr · 10/01/2012 10:34

Carlita My mum and brother are quite helpful. I don't drive so its the walk to school and back twice a day that is worrying me. I was ok with DS1 but when I was pregnant with DS2 I had SPD near the end so I am hoping I don't get that again. Especially as DP will be home for 6 weeks and then be going back to work when I am 32 weeks for 8 weeks.

I should have learnt to drive.
