morning ladies can't believe so many of you are so near!!!! im nearly 19 weeks and have my anomaly scan next week, still no proper movements and i know placenta is where they like it high and at the back, im carrying some extra padding this time so maybe that's it, :( ive got a heartbeat monitor so that reassures me a little although is hard to find 2!!! i don't use it everyday though just wish i had movement i could feel. sorry for the me post! i don't really have anywhere to vent in rl?? sorry :(

bigboobsatlast · 08/03/2012 08:02

Don't worry Goingmad, everything will be fine! You have scans every fortnight dont you? The babies will be doing fine and before you know it you will be feeling like you are being used as a punch bag! I know you can't stop yourself worrying - and unfortunately we will always find something to worry about! Good luck with the scan next week - can't wait to hear all about it and confirmation of team pink!

Ha ha Rednellie my DD is very similar - hilarious and frustrating! DH always baths her and at the moment she wont sit down in the bath until all the bubbles are at one end because she does not want to sit on them!! They are so particualr about completely random things aren't they? DD would only co-operate getting dressed for nursery this morning is she could wear one particualr stripey dress! Luckily it was clean and dry (I dont think she would have understood the concept of 'no darling its still drying on the radiator'!!

Good luck for scan today Dream - come and let us know how it went and what the weights are!

Things really are getting very close for you two - and time is racing on for the rest of us! I did some organising yesterday and have time to do some more today - and DH has the morning off so is going to finish putting the cots up and some other DIY bits and bobs. In fact I promised him bacon sarnies for when he fot back from dropping DD off.... so best go and start cooking!

Anyone watch OBEM last night - was it a good one? I am going to catch it on 4od later today hopefully. It always makes me cry, dont know what I do it to my self!

Hello to everyone x

goingmadtrying · 08/03/2012 08:12

thanks bigboobs finding something to worry about is too true!!! yes scanned every 2 weeks :) watched obem i think it was a good one 3 straight forward births justdifferent circumstances i usually cry at it but didnt last night! enjoy your morning with dp x

rednellie · 08/03/2012 12:37

goingmad - that is what we're here for! No worry is too irrational for us lot, so don't worry and vent all you like. I'm glad you've got your anomaly scan next week, that should help ease your mind. I didn't feel these two move much before 21 weeks (and I felt DD at 17 so was expecting something earlier), but they haven't stupid since! So don't panic, breath and I'm looking forward to hearing about your lovely scan.

I'm still banned from OBEM, but I have now been deemed sane enough to watch Call the Midwife. Ah, it's lovely isn't it? I'm going to get a copy of the series for my midwives - they love anything English over here and English + all about midwives will make their day.

I 'think' we're ready. We bought a clapped out 7 seater the other day (and when I say clapped out, we're talking you press one button and a completely random door opens, engines good though and it's safe so...) and me and DH are going to have to attack it with a stanley knife so we can attach all the straps for the car seats. That's our last job really. I put some snacks in the hospital bag...might get some rehydration salts (they've got a thing called Emergen C here) as I couldn't actually eat much last time round...EEEK.

rednellie · 08/03/2012 12:39

And bigboobs, your DD sounds remarkably like mine - she's so god damn particular about what she wears already. My friend out here has twin (21 month old) girls and they're really fussy about their clothes (i.e. what is theirs and what is their sisters), but their dad really can't understand it and gets very frustrated. I had a very funny conversation with him about it...

goingmadtrying · 08/03/2012 17:21

thanks rednellie that's reassuring to hear, i called the pregnancy assessment today and they got me in for a scan this afternoon, the sonographer said that its not unusual not to feel anything yet and by 22 weeks most people can feel movements. he also saw lots of movements on screen and both hb good, as only a quick scan didn't check lots put did say he wasn't sure if the placenta was joined??? im thinking that the consultant would have picked this up as that's what she looks for! although it has moved again and is posteria low, we shall see next week at anomaly scan, on a positive he has a quick look for the sex and believes they are girls Grin so excited!!!! Grin Grin

dream how did your scan go, good i hope :)

thank you again ladies for your support it really helps to have you here xxx

DreamingOfPeace · 08/03/2012 18:16

Oh goingmad, so glad you've been scanned and reassured. Nothing like seeing those two heartbeats to help you relax Grin. Team Pink!!! It'd be so unusual for your gender scan to be wrong for TWO babies when they're ID. I thought ID only had one placenta so how could it be not joined?! Like rednellie says, you'll feel them move soon, and then can join the rest of us in puzzlement of who's moving!

My 34 week scan was ok. I think. Twin 2 has dropped down off the growth curve though- so at 32 weeks Twin 1 was estimated at 3lb 15oz and Twin 2 was 4lb 2 oz. Today, T1 was estimated at 4lb 10.5oz, and T2 4lb 8oz. So T1 is still plotting beautifully along the curve but T2 is a bit below iykwim? t1 has put on nearly 12oz, t2 6oz. Hopefully nothing to worry about, but I now have to go back in a week for a doppler to check placental function and another consultant appointment, plus of course another growth scan in 2 weeks. DH reckons it'll be nothing, but being a worrier, no HB through placental failure has always been a worry for me, so I'm a bit anxious. Plus he made a point of saying I must go in immediately for any lack of normal movement/reduced foetal movements, particularly in T2. DH does also say if t2 has continued to grow poorly, they may evict them earlier, so I also got the last bits for my hospital bag today!

I think girls are generally bossy/bossier. Today at music group, DD insisted on having Row Row Row Your Boat by sitting in front of the musician lady and rowing herself til she did it, desperately trying to stand on one leg to display her socks when she was singing about socks (as she wanted her spotty socks sung about) and getting really cross when I got off my cushion as I needed to move and pointing and shouting EEEH! in an irate way until I sat down again Hmm. Very funny, also very annoying (I don't want to be bossed around by a one-and-a-half year old!) She's 18 months today!!

I've given up on OBEM- it just stresses me out!

We definitely need a post natal thread- I'd miss you all. Not been on any in Multiple Births - feel like I wouldn't belong yet and would be tempting fate . I'm sure I'll still check in here though too. Grin

goingmadtrying · 08/03/2012 19:07

thanks dream i feel relieved if only for a day or two!!! lol im sure your growth differences are nothing to worry about as dh said, however of course you'll worry about it :( make sure you keep an eye on movements etc. i read my scan letter in notes and he has written possible small anterior placenta, im beginning to think it may be the fibroid she spotted some weeks ago but hasn't mentioned since???

hope everyone having a lovely evening :)

skitoo · 08/03/2012 21:59

Goingmad, am so pleased you've been checked out and scanned and that everything is ok. It's so hard for us not to worry but hopefully you feel reassured and of course you can now go mad with your team pink things Grin Grin.

Dream, try not to worry too much sweets, am sure they're just having different growth spurts and your med team sound great and are going to keep a close eye on you all.

Nice work on getting the jobs done Bigboobs, did the bacon sarnies work in motivating DH to get the DIY bits done? I need the same in this house this weekend so think I may need to deploy the same tactics.

Thanks for the clothing tips, Zara is a good shout Rednellie, will try and pop in there tomorrow for some bump tents Grin.

Sorry this is short and sweet but trying to ice my wrists so difficult to type - night night Smile.

Kazar99 · 08/03/2012 22:04

Hello everyone. Just found mumsnet and spent most of the evening reading this thread :) hopefully I'll be joining you.

Have got a scan on Monday when I should be 13 weeks. Had some bleeding and an early scan at 7+4 to discover that not only had I not miscarried, but that there were 2 of them in there! DCDA so no idea whether id or not. First pregnancy at ripe old age of 36 and might be the last too!

Talk about shocked, but not as bad as DH. Only got married in August and I think he was still getting used to the idea of ttc. Fingers crossed that they are both still there on Monday! I'll be glad to get the scan over so I can tell work - struggling to fit in work clothes and hide my bump. Shopping this weekend I think.

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 08/03/2012 22:15

Psst! Any graduates fancy moving over to a postnatal group, I've tentatively started one in multiple births!

goingmadtrying · 08/03/2012 22:28

welcome kazar congratulations on your pregnancy, we all know the shock all to.well!!! :) im sure Monday will be fine i had bleeding up until about 14 weeks and all still going strong:) have you been referred to a consultant yet? i never had the normal 12 week scan as had the 2 epu scans due to bleeding i first saw my consultant at around 12 weeks, they check the type of twins your having, did you find out if they were in one sac or 2 mine are in one so mcda id twins, welcome on board :)

Kazar99 · 08/03/2012 22:57

Thanks goingmad. It's good to know that other people have bleeding and still have healthy pregnancies. Hopefully I'll see, or find out about seeing, the consultant on Monday. I've got 2 placentas and 2 sacs so DCDA twins. One of each would be nice :) but just hoping for two healthy babies just now. Really nervous about getting the scan in case there are any problems. Can't decide whether to get nuchal testing done or not at the moment. Had some really strange pains today and yesterday but think it might just be growing/stretching pains.

mummylin2495 · 08/03/2012 23:04

hello to you all ,just to let you know i will finally get to see my sisters twins next tues !! Both the girls are now over 6lb but my sister is struggling a bit at the moment with them and lack of sleep.

rednellie · 08/03/2012 23:23

goingmad - glad you got checked out so you can relax a bit until the detailed scan. It's a rollercoaster ain't it!

Kazar - welcome! Nice to have a newbie, hope you weren't too freaked out by reading the thread and can I just say I am not totally obsessed with old ladies incontinence pants Wink. I've got dcda twins that are about to make their appearance anytime now. We ended up not having the nuchal fold thingie purely due to a cock up between the OB and the ultrasound people so we missed our chance at 15 weeks (or whenever they do it). It's a hard one...I did have it with DD, but I'm not sure what I would have done if it had come back with a positive...Sorry, that's not much help is it!

dreaming - I'm sorry that you had a bit of weird scan. I know one of the twin mummies I met out here from our antenatal group had the same thing and they just kept checking her until she eventually had them (and they were perfect btw), which sounds like what you'll be having. You will be fine and so will those babies, please please don't worry and do come on here if you are. Virtual cream egg getting sent your way.

peelingmyself - I'll be with you shortly! Grin. Ooooh, how weird to be a graduate. I can't wait.

bigboobsatlast · 09/03/2012 06:37

Welcome kazar and congratulations! Keep us updated on how your scan goes-you and the babies will be fine.

Good news they will be keeping a close eye on you and the boys dream. Not long now! When is your cs date?

Definitely need to start twins club 4 soon - we are about to burst! And an updated list..... I have a horrible feeling I might be next after you both dream and rednellie !

Nearly finished hosp bag so feeling a bit more organised.

Happy Friday!

thank ladies and well done for ordering your buggy bigboobs!!!!!

kazar i didn't have the downs scan either as my consultant explained that i would need to be prepared to follow it through and be able to answer the question what i would do if one was poorly and one wasn't, as mine share a sac i wasn't sure i could make that decision, isnt the cut off around 13+4???? good luck with making the decision

Hello ladies

welcome to the thread Kazar and congrats on your pregnancy! You will get lots of support here!

Lots of activity recently on this thread, I can abrely remember everything, I keep reading while bfeeding, I dont know how I managed first two times without smart phone and internet on tap LOL! lots of mindless daytime tv I guess!

rednellie you're so close now, very exciting, I think you should drop us a small message before setting off for hospital, so we are not kept waiting and wondering!! Grin Your midwives sound lovely btw, you have been very lucky indeed!

Dream sorry scan wasn'r as great as you'd hoped, but I am sure they'll be fine and at least you will be scanned again next week, and get more checks.

skitoo I was down to one pair of jeans and leggings the last few weeks of pregnancy. Coupled with stretchy tops and long cardigans, or long tops to cover fat behind when weraring leggings!! I kept wearing all of the baove for a good 3 weeks post delivery too. I adored my HM jeans and wish I could do something to adapt them so I coudl still wear them now!

goingmad try not to worry, I am sure you will start feeling movements soon, the first time I felt the babies move was straight after eating some chocolate...around 18-19 weeks I think, maybe it's worth a try? (any excuse for some chocolate!)

bigboobs well done on hospital bag and buggy!

I wish I could watch OBEM too, a bit Envy at all of you, but then again maybe better not, I cried like a fountain this week just watching an episode of Grays Anatomy with a premature baby in it....too many hormones at the moment imo.

How are you doing BB3? hope all kids healthy and sleeping well??

As for us, I don't know what sleep is anymore...babies have gone through the sleepy stage and are more alert and awake for longer, which means they want to be held more, cue less time for me for anything!
I can't quite decide whether its worse when they wake up together and I don't know how to feed/comfort both at the same time, or the one after the other scenario that keeps awake for hours on end at night...not that any of it is in my control...

Poor little R seems to suffer a lot from trapped wind which makes settling him a very long affair, not too enjoyable at night..poor dh is helping lots and getting even less sleep than me, bless him!
right feeding time here, have to go. good day to everyone, and rednelli I am thinkng of you!!!!

Welcome Kazar and congrats on your special twin pregnancy! This thread is full of lovely people and great for handholding Smile. I'm DCDA too and did have the nuchal test, just, they didn't play ball for the measurement for some time. We had already decided though that we were very unlikely to do anything with the results other than prepare ourselves. It's a tough one and everyone's views are different. Glad you've found us though, we'll help with all the mentalling along the way.

Bigboobs, well done on getting the buggy sorted and for haggling with JL! Ours is due to arrive some time next week and I'm strangely excited about it.

Great to hear from you Claire, sorry it's getting tougher with the sleep patterns. Met my friend yesterday and her little one is now 8 weeks and is just turning a corner with sleep, going 6/7 hours through the night. Fingers crossed yours will soon. Hers also had bad wind problems and she found the Dr Browns bottles have made a huge difference. Can't remember if you're feeding yourself though.

Right I'm off shopping for the boring hospital bag bits, might need to compare notes with you later Bigboobs Grin.

My stats for new thread (sorry I'm not brave enough to start one)

Hello all, apologies for radio silence, I have been incredibly busy finishing the West Wing and consuming my body weight in cookie dough ice cream ;) Induction booked for the 19th if they don't come out before, crikey...trying to get ahead of myself and in the interest of finding the Holy Grail that is The Routine/an outlet for my unused anally retentive organisational skills now that I'm not working...wanted to do some charts for the twins to record their feeds, me expressing, nappies, sleeps etc.

Has anyone done these already and could send??

Two other points:

Successfully moved home and despite getting the Out and About Nipper which is meant to be one of the smallest on the market it doesn't bloomin' fit through the front door! I really can't face assembling and disassembling every time, juggling twins outside the front door, left on the hall mat while I strap the other in etc...what do you think about getting a 'normal' single basic pram for the first few months? They could share, couldn't they?

Also, consultant and MW have both signed off on birth plan EXCEPT getting push back on a DNA test to check for identical twins. Have been told it's irrelevant as two sacs. Yes - for their management of the pregnancy as no risk of twin to twin transfusion, but there is still a small chance the egg split early, both girls, identical measurements etc...think they and we deserve to know, yes? Or AIBU!

Dreaming I wouldn't worry about the consultant's comments. From what I know the growth charts are predicated on singletons, given how squashed twins are one may just literally not have space plus difficult to measure eg femur correctly as they're hunched up, and I think the comment about being sensitive to movement is a pretty general one towards the end (and as there's a 60% chance twins come before 36 weeks that's where you are!) Fingers crossed though for the appointments.
