photos visible now for a short time only!!

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 19:39

Hi claire I don't know why but I can't seem to click on your profile, is probably just me not opening it properly. My consultant is reluctant to tell me!, so will hopefully have it confirmed on 15/03/12 when I have my 20 week scan. It was clear pictures and babies didn't hold back in showing between their legs, I have read some horror stories but I don't think she would have been so confident if she wasn't sure, will have to just hope. Thank you I do think my ds's are lovely :). Glad to hear the twins are settling in and feeding well, and that you are feeling a bit more human :)

BB3 · 22/02/2012 19:42

Claire - so glad you're feeling better and go babies putting on weight! Especially Ricardo! How are the girls enjoying their baby brother and sister? And dh? It's completely normal to want your space back especially as you get stronger xx

I still can't click on you, I think you need to make your profile page public so we can click on it (it becomes underlined), and then mumsnet mates should work on the pics themselves xx

Goingmad I think the chances of getting both babies wrong is slim! Why not wait until next scan at NHS and then start buying so you'll be a bit further along and 150% sure Grin Wink xxx

claireinmodena · 22/02/2012 20:00

thanks BB3, you should be able to see them now! Clearly I am suffering from some sleep deprivation...

To asnwer your question, dd1 is just all over the twins, she feeds them their top up bottles, cuddles them, she'd have one of them in her arms alld ay if we'd let her!

Dd2 is not hugely interested but she'll cast a look once in a while in the pram and give a small cuddle. She's never been keen on babies, and this is the keenest I've ever seen her LOL. Her sister has always had a thing for babies even as an 18 month old!

DH adores them, just like me, he watched the football with Riccardo on Sunday! (or that is how he saw it) He helps a t night winding, feeding a bottle, or just settling them to sleep. They have both already had a few hours in bed with daddy!

let me know if you still cant see the photos but I think I've done it properly now...

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 20:07

Claire Your twins are beautiful, well done you :)

Thanks bb3 I am worrying un-necessarily i'm sure not long now to wait for certain, I see the consultant on Tuesday so hoping she may have a look :)

BB3 · 22/02/2012 20:17

Claire they are just absolutely gorgeous! So, so beautiful and if this doesn't sound stupid a real boy and girl - r looks so handsome and e just a beautiful feminine little lady x well done you xx so glad dd's and dh's are loving having them around xx

BB3 · 22/02/2012 20:20

Oh and you're right about the babymoon! I finished work today and came down to huge smiles and giggles from the girls and just made my crappy day completely irrelevant xxxxx

rednellie · 22/02/2012 20:34

Oh claire, they are just beautiful. Thanks for giving in to all our bullying to see the photos! What an amazing thing. I don't think it'll be real until I see my two in real life...So glad everything's going well and yeah, get rid of the Mums! Your DD's sound like they're adapting well too that's great all round. xxx

Right, am off for another scan - goingmad, I know exactly what you're going through about seeing the babies and working out what they are etc, but I've now got to the point where I'm really not that interested in seeing them on a screen. Just want to get on with it all.

(PS have solved itching problem by wearing tena lady pants. (!!??!?!?) I think I'm a) addicted and b) have lost all sense of personal style/pride/youth. But I couldn't give a flyingF Grin)

DreamingOfPeace · 22/02/2012 21:32

Oh, Claire, they're so perfect. Absolutely gorgeous and they look so sweet together. Two babies!!! I can't believe you did it and grew two such lovely babies! Thanks for putting the pictures up.

I am laughing out loud at you curing your itching with tena lady pants rednellie Smile. Hope the scans good- give us a weight estimation soon and update on.twin A's foot position!

rednellie · 23/02/2012 03:00

Stupid sonographer wouldn't tell me anything as that's policy. I barely even got to see the babies! Annoying jobsworth. She said they were 'fine' and hadn't moved so am assuming A's still got his big old feet still stuck under B's head...my children are already causing me headaches. Grin

good luck with the scan dreaming, hope you get a more satisfactory report.

Teds77 · 23/02/2012 10:40

claire I think I've missed the opportunity to see your LOs. Boo! But sounds like they are beautiful Smile

going congrats on your girls! Am very Envy that you know what you're having though! I know I'm only a little bit in front of you but DH won't be persuaded into paying for a scan and our 20 week scan isn't until 22 weeks!

Waves to everyone else with the exception of rednellie who gets a Shock look from me for the tena lady pants admission. I'm trying to bury my head in the sand about what awaits me don't you know... Grin

goingmadtrying · 23/02/2012 11:25

hi teds thank you :) my mum was very lovely and paid for me as my consultant has refused to look :( oh dear having to wait, do you use groupon because after i booked mine a local company offered a groupon for £45 which included a dvd just a suggestion ;) not long now. i can't believe how quick things are going :)

today is a good day, someone reminded me yesterday not to Google, and it did make me think you would never post "i had my gender scan and they got it right!!!" made me have a little giggle :)

skitoo · 23/02/2012 12:57

Hello All - am so sorry that I am totally and utterly rubbish at keeping up with you all Blush. I finish work at the end of next week and cannot wait, so should have more time once I am a lady of leisure, or would it be more accurate to say a whale harpooned to the sofa??!!

If I'm being really honest though, I've been in full on mentalling mode, convinced that there's something wrong and that despite loads of movement, keep thinking I can only ever feel one of them. Didn't realise that my previous mmc experience had affected me so badly but think thats why I've been in such a tizz. Anyway, scan today so fingers crossed that will put my mind at rest and I can try and enjoy the remaining weeks of pregnancy.

Have had a quick catch up and sounds like everyone is doing really well [happy].

Claire, sorry I missed your pictures but from the others comments I am imagining an absolutely gorgeous pair of little ones. Great that they are putting on weight and super cute that DH is enjoying having a little buddie to watch the footie with. Hope you can enjoy the week with your mum and then look forward to reclaiming your house with DD's and DH to help out.

Goingmad, CONGRATS on team pink Grin Grin. I'm sure the sonographer wouldn't have confirmed them both as girls if she wasn't pretty certain. We found out the sex of one of ours early (during a cervical scan), sonographer asked if we wanted to know and then said definitely a boy but the other one wasn't so clear, could be a boy or a girl, so she said she wouldn't commit and we would have to wait until the next scan. It's pretty rare that they get it wrong. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long to see them again and have it reconfirmed.

Rednellie, sorry your scan wasn't great - shall be sending lots of jiggly vibes your way for twin A to move his little tootsie. Thanks for sharing your newly found Tena lady addiction, has made me giggle but who knows maybe I'll be secretly stocking up soon Grin.

Dream and BB3, hope your little ones are on the mend and the change of weather will help to kill off all the nasty bugs.

Glad you had a good midwife appointment Bigboobs and that you now know you have options. Think I'm feeling the same as you, would rather try for a VB if they're in the right positions. Were you told you would defintely have to have an epidural? I'm not so sure about that bit, pro's and cons, it is one of the questions I have for my appointment today.

How you feeling now Teds, any better? How long have you got to wait for your scan?

Mummylin, hope you sister and her little ones are well and that you get to visit for some cuddles real soon.

Waves to anyone else I've missed - promise to try harder now and will leave a big tray of lovely warm buttery hot cross buns by way of apology.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 13:46

skitoo, today I feel exhausted which ramps up my mental-ness to a whole new gear!!! I am now swinging between thinking deciding the house was a shit tip mess yesterday (as we're in the process of building cotbeds, moving a double bed, washing all the stuff from it and vacuum packing it- for when I don't know, no-where to put a bed now Hmm) and having a manic tidying/ clearing/ organising/ washing session, plus a bit of an upset tummy and loads of B-H I am now swinging between worrying I'm going to go into labour, being sure I won't, being sure the scan will go badly- argh!!!!!

I have been told definitely an epidural. In case of turning/ problems with twin 2. Plus monitoring of course, plus syntocinon up after twin 1 born, plus they only want a 30 min gap between delivering the twins before emcs/instrumental delivery (which I'd go to emcs instead of as I don't want a big teat on top of my old third degree tear due to incontinence risks for later life shooting up) for twin 2. All of this, plus my third degree tear last time has made me happy with my ELCS choice at 37+6.

Growth scan 3:30. eek. Quick lie down first. I'm so horrible and whingey today...

skitoo · 23/02/2012 14:09

Dream, shall be thinking of you at 3.30, I'm same time so we'll both be laying there, bellies out and of course going home mentalling free GrinGrinGrin

claireinmodena · 23/02/2012 15:55

skitoo and dream good luck with your scans today!!

rednellie shame about consultant!

skitoo and teds77 you've been added to my mumsnet mates list, so you should be able to see the babes now!

waves at everyonr else!

rednellie · 23/02/2012 17:06

Hey lovelies. I'm terribly sorry to ruin everyone's expectations of late twin pregnancy - seriously, it hadn't even really crossed my mind how weird it is that I'm enjoying wearing the lady pants of Tena! Grin You all have that to come...But they are lovely. So soft. No tight bits. So soothing. He he

skitoo - we've all been there, you'll be fine I promise. It's such a worrying time and you do get prodded and poked so much more so there's more opportunity to stress. I'm sending you good vibes for the scan. Let us know how it goes. And thanks for the jiggling Wink.

RE: Vb with twins. They can't make you do anything. It's not illegal to give birth without an epidural, but there are consequences, mostly for you, to be fair. I'm still dithering about it all and tbh until we definitely know what position these two chose for themselves everything's up in the air. I'm currently opting to have an epidural sited with a test dose then left unattached so I can still move/feel, but the epi is there if they need to administer it for any internal maneuvering they might have to do with twin 2. I have asked to not have a time limit on the second twin and we're going to see what happens re: syntocin, but definitely using it for delivery of the placenta as there is a much higher risk of bleeding with twin births (giant placenta detaching etc). So there are options and, as I found out, don't always take 'no' from one doctor as the be all and end all. I've found, as long as you're reasonable and well researched, there will be medical staff who will allow you some lee way.

claire - the image of your DH watching the football with DS reminded me of the only breaks I used to get when DD was small were when my DH sat down in front of the grand prix with her. Reckon she liked the white noise!

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 17:58

Hooray for baby elephants! Mine were 1933g (twin 2) and 1834 (twin 1) or 4lb 2 and 3lb 15oz today and both looked good on the scan. So great news there. If I did have VB the bigger one is still to come though! I'd have the epidural more for the baby because if you need a crash section it's best for them its not under GA as they do get some of the drugs and come out a bit out of it don't they, more lokely to make establishing feeding difficult? rednellie, I had the lowest dose possible with my epidural last time, and was mobile throughout. I really wanted to be mobile. The anaesthetist was quite impressed I was still walking to the loo after my third bolus of the drugs!! And I gave birth kneeling up. And didn't push when told not to etc etc. So really, I shouldn't have had a third degree tear, boo!!! This is why I'm so nervous of VB. Especially as head circumference is over the 75th centile for both boys- same as DD. Plus my general wimp-ishness

and even better news, I got some 'heavy duty' stuff for my reflux. Not licensed in pregnancy but the doctor said use it only when needed and its fine Smile

How was your scan skitoo? Now, how long do you think we'll stay not-mental for?! Wink

hello claire, glad to see you've still got a second to pop on here even with 4 children! Hope those babies are behaving by eating and sleeping well for you. your DD1 sounds so sweet with them, an extra baby-jigger is always welcome!

rednellie, its all about the glamour... when I saw the top line of your post before it loaded properly I thought you were talking about not getting to later pregnancy- ie you'd gone into labour- I nearly got incredibly excited!

My other post didn't really make sense- I was trying to say my BH have really increased, plus dodgy tummy, plus general ?nesting and I was swinging between thinking it was nothing and thinking I'd go into prem labour... What have other people had re:BH? i do assume they're nothing ,but they're strong and quite regular- every 10-15 minutes or so? I had loads last time but can't remember when from, and they're always worse with subsequent pregnancies, so I know it's just my paranoia!! 2 seconds later I'm back to being convinced I'll go to term.

hello to everyone else!

claireinmodena · 23/02/2012 19:00

dream good news re scan!
As for bh I didnt have any in first two pregnsncies but have had loads in this one from prob 25ish wks onwards! That plus short cervix and I still madr it to 38 weeks. You just never know I guess!

claireinmodena · 23/02/2012 19:22

rednellie Grin at the tena pants! I have a pack still left untouched, would have sent them over if you hadnt been on other side of atlantic Smile

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 21:20

Oh, that's made me giggle and cheered me up Claire, thanks!

rednellie · 23/02/2012 21:44

No BH here - I never got them with DD either so not sure what to suggest. Can you get them to calm down if you have a glass of water and lie down? That usually means they're not anything more productive...

Ah claire, don't tease me with the thought of more tena pants! My Mum saw them and was like "oh yes, I know those, I bought them for your grandad". Lovely. Am off to buy some Bio Oil as the itching is still driving me doolally.

Great news on scan dreaming, although I'm a bit Envy about you being told the measurements. Why does every sonographer here have a different policy? One minute they completely over share and the other they wont tell me one thing at all. I rang my mw this morning and told her to make sure she had all the notes when I see her next week so I can geek out a bit (we don't get to carry around our pregnancy notes here so I've no idea what any of my test results have come back as).

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 22:07

I always have an ante natal clinic appointment after the scan and the growth chart printout with all the measurements and weights is put in my hand held notes for the consultant to see. So I start converting grams to lb in the car on my phone and having a good flick through my notes on the way home :-)

The bh calm down a bit with rest, but still at least every 30 min. I'm totally reassured by Claire getting to 38 weeks with her short cervix and loads of them though!! Lying down is a big challenge to my reflux, but I will try my new meds tonight. And maybe if I'm.more comfy they'll be less bothersome.

Now, an amateur question on the tena pants rednellie- when the sizing says medium or large, is that the size of your bottom, or the amount of lochia (or incontinence!) you expect the pants to deal with?!? I'm guessing its your bum size, but the Boots online description wasn't clear. Either way, I ordered medium- play it safe!

And by the way, I was so excited at the thought rednellie might have gone into labour before that I'm just letting you all know, should this happen to anyone it must be posted here immediately before you get into the properly awful stages of labour so we can anticipate the next babies arrival properly Grin

rednellie · 24/02/2012 00:41

Sizes refer to your bum. Mine are LARGE. And I will do my very best to tell you lot I've gone into labour, that's if I remember...or go into labour. Neither of which are distinct possibilities currently Wink
