rednellie · 04/03/2012 19:03

I think we've got a full moon too, but my mate who works on the post partum unit said last week was the busiest she's ever seen so am hoping it'll be nice and quiet the next couple of weeks so I can get a nice room. Grin

We can agree induction and rashes are both nightmares! I've honestly never experienced the like. I'm head to foot covered in spots. Very weird. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

PS I don't have a smart phone (cos I am a luddite and a cheapskate), so if I do go into labour you just wont hear from me until I get home. Just thought I'd give you an advance warning. But I promise to let you all know as soon as I can. (Hmmm, starting to get to grips with the idea that I might have to actually have these babies at some point...)

skitoo · 04/03/2012 19:08

Whoop whoop, I'm a lady of leisure!! Looking at my list of things to do (well thinking of it as I haven't actually written it yet) I'm not sure how much leisure time there's going to be Hmm.

Fab news Rednellie, am so happy for you - you must be over the moon to be going with the plan you really wanted. Sorry the itching is so bad. I'm on the ice packs every night for the stupid carpal tunnel thing, would that be any good for the itching? 37 weeks this week, it could be the one Grin and what great weights, hopefully that means they'll be a tough little pair and no need for scbu.

Not sure you can get them where you are but I love Natures Harvest granola bars. I always have an emergency one in my handbag in case I end up without food for too long, they're really good fuel and not really bad for you.

Dream, the sling meet sounds great, googled and found site but there's not one near me for any time soon Sad. Research is definitely on the list to do this week. Love the names, especially Benjamin, that would have been one of ours but our surname begins with B and it just sounds too much.

Claire thanks for finding the time to come and update us. Your little ones sound fantastic, it must be so nice to see their different personalities coming through. Good luck for your solo mission this week, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine Smile.

Hey Teds, lovely to hear from you and 18+3 Grin. I still count the days too and flip forward to the next week when I've passed midpoint of the one before! I officially hit the big 3 0 tomorrow, I can't believe it, I never thought I'd make it this far. For me time has really flown since Xmas when I was 20 weeks, prior to then I confess to being a wreck and every day taking weeks, especially during treatment when you're always waiting for something to happen. But hey, we're here now, everything is all good and we'll both have a beautiful pair of babies real soon Smile Smile. What date is your next scan?

Goingmad, think my flutters turned in to definite movements around 17 weeks, so where you are now but everyone differs. I have one posterior placenta and one anterior, so didn't get anything at all near the anterior one until really recently.

Got to dash now as DH is putting dinner on the table. Huge waves to everyone else xx

DreamingOfPeace · 04/03/2012 21:42

Hello all,

Back very quickly....

skitoo, I love anything like the Ergo, Boba 3G baby carrier (I'd def go for the 3G not 2G though), Mei Tai, Kinderpack style - a 'ready-made' sling as they're dead easy and so comfy- for me and DD. When we swapped to that from a BabyBjorn active she instantly started sleeping better in it and for ages and carrying her was much easier. I keep fiddling with this dratted Moby wrap, and even having been shown at the sling meet I'm struggling. One of the people demonstrating with her 8 week old had gone to try other slings though as she was hating the faff of the Moby she had so I'm not overly encouraged. I think if I'd been a wrap sling user for one baby and got the hang of it it'd be better... And our surname begins with S but I'm sticking my fingers in my ears and going 'la la la' about naming one of them Sebastian anyway... Is that really bad? Should I actually reconsider?? I may have to post in baby names... (still not found bigboobs thread there either!)

Horrified rednellie that you could disappear for days and days and we won't know if they're here, weights, names etc!!!! Of course one of your first priorities should be updating us!!

night all! xx

skitoo · 04/03/2012 22:13

Thanks Dream, will check all of those out. I've heard similar about the moby, so probably not one for me, I don't have the patience to perservere with things like that. No don't discard Sebastian, ours with Benjamin would just sound naff and fictional like Peter Parker or Roger Rabbit. Would you use Seb as nn, think that sounds cute.

Shock that Rednellie you're going to keep us in suspense for a few days! That means from now until then you can't go AWOL for more than a few hours or we'll be getting ourselves excited thinking its show time Grin.

rednellie · 05/03/2012 13:09

I'm still here! Sorry about radio silence threat - I just don't have a bloody phone that does anything apart from ring. But I will update you as soon as I can because that is my MAIN priority post birth Grin.

Still itching here - but better. Only woke at 2am and 4am, rather than being awake from 1am onwards. I look like the Singing Detective when I go to sleep though - covered in lots of wet cold cloths...Seriously, how many weird pregnancy related crappness is there? I think it's because I was starting to be smug about having a relatively uncomplicated pregnancy - beware the smuggery oh pregnant friends!

Anyway, not much to add. Had a lovely chat with my doula yesterday - she got me thinking about what did/didn't work for me in labour so that was a useful conversation. My lovely Mum is really sad she's not going to be there for the birth, but I really want her to provide DD with a bit of stability whilst I'm at the hospital. Also, if she came too I'd end up with an entourage to (almost) rival the hospitals.

DreamingOfPeace · 05/03/2012 20:08

Thank goodness you got a bit more sleep rednellie. I'm just dying to know when your boys will put in an appearance Grin . I got a smart phone about 5 months ago and I'm a bit addicted Blush, it may be a very good thing you don't have one... I thought it'd be great to just quickly check opening times for various things, the weather forecast when away etc etc- I didn't realise I'd get hooked to mn (I started posting when TTC this time) and waste my life on it!!!! I am always awake at 4:10am- it's starting to get a little freaky..!

I had a really realistic dream that my waters broke last night, and woke up so relieved they hadn't I couldn't get back to sleep (from 4:10) til about DD getting up time and then it was like waking the dead. Plus I seem to be up to a minimum of 2 loo visits a night. Plus at least 2 Rennies chomping sessions as I'm trying to avoid the Ranitdine- feel bad as I've taken so many prescription drugs this pregnancy. Usually the loo and Rennies sessions are combined though, so that's a big bonus.

skitoo, definitely Seb as a nn. I could imagine shouting 'Isla! Seb! Ben!' quite easily in a playground Grin

oh, DH home, must dash

Teds77 · 05/03/2012 20:15

Evening all... just finishing up at work (gah!) but after various events taking place tomorrow, work should be a little calmer until I escape on maternity leave.. I hope!

Today's thought for the day is that I definitely need some new bras. Once my colleagues left the office earlier the first thing I did was undo my bra. Was bliss Blush.

rednellie sorry that the itching continues but good to know you're still here. Your Mum looking after DD sounds like a very important job - hope that she comes round to seeing it that way.

Dreaming Sebastian is lovely and I think a bit of alliteration is fine. My niece is a 'M M' and I think it sounds good.

skitoo yay for being a lady of leisure and double yay for 30 weeks! No scan for me until 22 weeks (28 March) but in fours hours time I'll be a whole 19 weeks. Whoop!

goingmad don't know if it's because I'm DCDA (rather than MCDA) or whether it's the hospital I'm with, but I'm effectively treated like a singleton pg until my next scan at 22 weeks. After that I'll be scanned every 4 weeks and have midwife every 4 weeks and I'll also meet with the Obstetrican - probably an initial meeting at around 24 weeks. Until it's a bit 'nah dah' for me. Ho hum!

rednellie · 05/03/2012 20:46

This bra has got me through a lot Teds. It may not be glamorous, but it's seriously comfortable, no seams of under wiring to muck up your ducts, very easy to use when feeding etc etc. Just had to jump in with that one!

dreaming, I think Seb, Ben and Isla sound fantastic together...Now all I need to do is sort mine.

DreamingOfPeace · 05/03/2012 21:33

Hi teds, you work late! I was the same- just 12 and 20 week scan (though I did end up being scanned at 14 & 16 weeks) for my DCDA boys. Then every 4 weeks til 28 weeks, then every 2 weeks- not sure if that's as I'm relatively slight and dh a foot taller than me as I met a DCDA twin mum to be who's on monthly scans throughout- same hospital obviously, different consultant. Are you going to find out sexes at your 22 week scan?

Forgot to say yay for finishing work skitoo!!

I've been wearing 2 bra extenders on my old nursing bras, so giving myself a good 4+ extra inches on the straps (that I hadn't stopped wearing since having dd as i bf til the pain of 16 weeks pg stopped me!!). Still feel better with them undone. I'm loving the look of that bravado bra you've linked to rednellie, mmm may need to invest! Even if it weren't for dd, I don't think I'd want my mum at the birth... Glad the doula has been useful so far too.

DreamingOfPeace · 05/03/2012 21:41

And has anyone spotted BB3 anywhere? It's been a while since she posted...

skitoo · 06/03/2012 11:34

Dream am loving Isla, Seb, Ben think they sound fab together - all sorted then Grin. Have you done middle names yet?

I too have joined the 4am wide awake club Sad, well this morning it was 3am, with this stupid blody carpal tunnelling thing. DH has just ordered me some splints to wear to bed, so right with you Rednellie and Dream* on the crapness and I too was a smug one having got this far with no other ailments.

Happy 19 weeks Teds!!! Hope you're not stuck with another late one at work tonight. I'm DCDA too and my scan dates vary slightly too. I didn't get a 24 week scan, as per NICE guidelines and when I challenged it with my consultant was told that my hospital don't do them as they do the 18 & 22 week cervical scans instead and just don't have the resources to do all. So it felt like an age until the next 28 week one. I would then have been put on fortnightly if there were any concerns but as I was told I'm having a really boring straightforward DCDA pregnancy they didn't need to see me for another 4 weeks, so 32 weeks.

Bra's is also on my list to do this week but am so fussy Blush. I've always been small chested and have worn underwired with moulded cups (every little helps Wink), so apart from the initial growth spurt at the beginning which really only filled the cups of the ones I'd always worn and just a bit more since I (bought a couple in next band size up) don't know where to go size wise? Guess I'm going to have to go and get measured as these are tight and uncomfortable now and need ones with no wire. Any ideas when they go through another growth stint?

Not seen BB, hope you're ok, give us a quick wave if you can xx.

Rednellie, did you use a doula before, would you rate them?

Right off for leaving lunch with work Smile.

rednellie · 06/03/2012 12:12

My DH always says 3am-4am is the low ebb of the night. I think that's why we're all waking up then. It's just one of those body rythm things and because we're probably sleeping lightly/badly then we get woken up. I find if I can't get back to sleep I go, have a snack, look at mn for 15 mins and then can go back to sleep quite easily. Calcium magnesium supplements help, and they're also good for keeping a lid on high blood pressure.

Bras: I too am of the small of breast, my boobs did a leap at the start of pregnancy with DD but this time haven't changed at all. I have worn the medium size in the Bravado bras with no problem, but I'm quite a big cup even if a bit flat chested. Does that make sense? They are really very comfy and I used to be addicted to under wired bras so it was a big leap for me.

Doulas: never used one, first time round I had my Mum and DH who were both excellent birth partners and I feel I really benefited from having the two. Apart from anything else they helped hold the monitors on my tummy when I'd had to transfer into hospital which meant I could remain on my knees and not have to lie down! Also was great having one of them being my physical support (DH holding me when I was contracting standing up) and one of them sorting all the other stuff out - like making the mw's ham sandwiches and getting my bag ready etc. I got a doula this time as I knew Mum wouldn't be able to come to the birth and I was frightened by the increased medical side of twin births and felt I wanted a bit more support on my 'team'. To be honest, we can't really afford her, but i feel she's already earnt her weight in gold by telling me about the Best Birth Clinic which led to me changing OB's and hospitals etc. There's a study, can't find it right now, that shows that having a 'constant birth partner' (i.e. a doula) reduces the need for EMCS's and other instrumental forms of delivery by quite a huge percent...

Scan wise - my old OB had me on every 2 weeks since Christmas, but my new OB thought he was mad and only wants a scan every 4. So, yet again, it proves that HCP's have different interpretations of the same facts...

It's not been that long since BB3 was on here. Maybe she's just been busy?

PS So Idris is a definite (I think), but we've got to chose the other name:
Bran
Madoc
Aneirin (as in Nye Bevan)

Opinions on a (gentle) postcard.

DreamingOfPeace · 06/03/2012 14:51

rednellie Idris and Madoc!!! Love them Grin. I also like Bran (but kind of vaguely reminds me of making up bran mashes for my pony as a teenager/bran flakes, but that's my wierdness and I still like it as a name). How do you pronounce Aneirin? (the Nye Bevan isn't helping me!?). Plus, clearly, i love Madoc and think you should call them Idris and Madoc so I need to sway you from the others Grin.

I do think I probably don't need fortnightly scans as my babies are and have always been a very similar size and growing well, but being totally neurotic a little anxious I'm really pleased I do have them.

I am also of the small of breast team- I was a B before children, went up to a C and bra extenders for the straps with DD, and a D when bf (if I'd bought a bra as soon as my milk came in I'd have got a DD/E but that all settled down in literally a few days to about a D again, so I got by by compensating witht he bra extenders again iykwim). I'd really weaned down to 2 feeds day for DD when I got pg again, and stayed at a C, which i probably still am, but am also wearing my old nursing bras still too. So you may not have huge changes skitoo. I look awful without a moulded cup, no silhouette, really bad, so I went for some basic moulded cup nursing bras from BHS which I thought no point spending on til I've established bf, then couldn't get round to getting any more- there isn't even a department store of any description near me...so ended up making do with them for the last 18 months!!!

BB3 probably is just busy, she's just always been quite a 'regular' poster. Hope it's just busyness, not 3 ill children etc.

Oh, and on middle names, my dad has done so much to help me and us through this pg, plus the financial hit he'll take helping us out with cleaner/childcare at first I'd really like to give one boy Allan after him as a middle name, and one Phillip after my Grandpa who died 2 weeks before Christmas, not remembering many, many facts but always remembering I was having twin boys... I have asked DH, but don't like to keep bringing it up as it is both my family names for the 2 boys... Though his nephew is called after DH's dad for his middle name- I might have slipped into converstaion- 'oh how lovely, all the family names used then' to see if it helped!!!!! DH fancies Sebastian Allan as his initials will be SAS- he thinks that's cool Hmm. I think Sebastian Allan and Benjamin Phillip sounds better than vice versa but I'm very wary of the SAS initials... Any thoughts?

Hooray for 19 weeks teds!! I felt miles better after the anomaly scan too, so that's only 3 weeks away now.

and nom nom, leavign lunch, I hope they're treating you skitoo?!

bigboobsatlast · 06/03/2012 19:27

I agree with dream idris and madoc are really fab names. Your choices are lovely too dream. My theory is that all three children have dh's surname so I shld have final say on other names! Not that i have told dh that! Out shortlist is Ralph, Edward and Michael. With kenneth and one of those three as middle names. My faves are... 'Ralph Kenneth' for twin one and 'edward Michael' for twin 2. but I have not yet convinced dh!

How is everyone feeling? We are all marching through the weeks (of course sometimes it feels like a crawl!). I am 29 weeks now and going to try and get hosp bag packed this week. And a bag for dd. Have completely forgotten what I need to pack! MUST GET ORGANISED! One of the cots is up now and have got a few 'up to 7lb' baby clothes. I did have some 'up to 5lb) but took those back as last week they were 2lb 9 and 2lb 10 so thought that tiny size might be too tiny!

My bras are far too small - I grow a lot when preggers. Usually an A or B, but grow to a D. Hence my mn name! Don't wamt to spend money on bras as i have nursing bras that should fit fine. I probably should just wear them now!

Hello to you all, will post a less me focused message in the next day or so when I have time to myself!

BB3 · 06/03/2012 20:54

Well hello strangers Wink you know I'm addicted to mn when a few days off has me feeling like I've lost a limb Wink well not quite, but almost.

First things first, skitoo, yay for leaving lunch, hope you have lots of down time now work is done!

Rednellie - oh I love all names, I'm with dream on madoc but also really like the others so think any would work!

Dream whether you end up calling them it or not your little boys will always be seb and Ben to me Wink and I love sas!

Bigboobs, I really like those names and like that they can be shortened or used in full to suit all life spans (Edward for professional life, ed for teenage years and eddie for the cute toddler stage and mixed up too if that makes sense!)

Teds, glad things are progressing well.

Things have been busy this end but nice busy, visiting friends, getting bits done round the house. The girls are growing so fast it's scary but I love watching them every day, it's that lovely stage when every day seems to being something new and Karahan is doing really well. Nights are a bit tough, Ayse is waking a lot but we are getting there, I can't complain.

I'm waiting impatiently for baby news from the other side, not to be a brat but COME ON BABIES!!!! Grin

skitoo · 06/03/2012 21:13

Another vote for Idris and Madoc, sound very cool together.

Dream, I was the SAS until I got married so I'm with your DH Grin but agree that they also sound better that way round.

Just got back from yoga and ripped my bra off so I've taken the plunge and ordered as per your recommendation Rednellie. No harm in giving it a go. I'm in the mood to get things sorted this week, however I did pass on the Tena lady pants when in Boots today! I've also ordered the close sling and a nursing pillow - its all go in this house now I'm on ML.

Bigboobs I'm going to hit a big Mothercare on Friday with my vouchers from work so hope to have all the bits for my hospital bag sorted too.

DreamingOfPeace · 06/03/2012 22:51

Urgh. A mammoth Bedtime Battle tonight. Completely overtired child by the end who just couldn't go to sleep... Finally won at 10:15pm, so there went my early night. Of course, this will never be happening with the twins thrown into the mix Hmm

Hurray, no-one thinks he'll be ridiculed for being SAS Grin. Now, to get two of my family names by DH... I'm starting to think of them by those names, so I hope we do go with them and they don't arrive and we think they don't suit them etc..

I missed you bb3, glad you've reappeared. And I too am sadly horribly addicted to mn.... Glad K doing well (i love his name so much, I almost wish we were Turkish-linked in some way...), sure you'll get there with Ayse. As I will with Isla within 4 weeks

bigboobs, I agree with you- Ralph Kenneth and Edward Michael are just lovely.

skitoo, ML rocks! You do sound like you're on a roll. I have still not got a complete hospital bag and only have my old single nursing pillow, haven't dug moses basket out from the garage in case, haven't got cotbed built... Do finally collect 'new' secondhand car seat tomorrow (but I know here its come from). 34 weeks on Thursday.

DH's comments yesterday: 'You really are getting a lot more stretch marks this time aren't you? 'Oh yes, the bump has finally spread out to the sides a bit more, now you can tell you're pregnant from behind' . Enough to make a weepy hormonal person cry... He genuinely doesn't mean these in more than an interested way Hmm .

bigboobsatlast · 07/03/2012 08:26

Dream - like me, you need to remind DH that all of his three children will have HIS surname and therefore he surely would not begrudge you a couple of middle names? I dreaded having this conversation with DH as I felt so strongly about it (I want my dads name and Grandads name to feature as first or second names - Michael and Kenneth). When I told him how I was feeling I welled up (not on purpose honest!) and when he realised how important it was to me he just said 'ok'! so I THINK I have got that sorted!!

Hi BB3, glad to hear things are going well - but I know you must be very tired with the night times. I am not looking forward to going back to that - I will have to keep reminding myself that it does get better. Having said that DD (2 years!) has only just started sleeping through sometimes) Hmm

Great news on ML Skitoo - and enjoy spending your vouchers! I got some mothercare vbouchers when I left work too and still have about £50 left - but most of the things I need to get are so much cheaper in supermarkets so I am holding out for getting something that I can only get from a 'proper' baby shop... just not sure what that will be yet!

I met a lady in Sainsburies on Monday - who had ID boys (6 months) and a daughter (4 years) so similar to me. I thought I would start talking to her and hoped she wouldn't mind... luckily she didnt mind some stranger talking to her and she was lovely - and just chatting for 10 mins in the car park was useful - she had the same consultant as me and only lives about 5 miles away. She also does not know anyone else with twins. She very kindly swapped names and number and to cut a long story short (too late!) I am going to go round her house next week to meet her boys properly and ask all my questions! So you think thats a bit weird?! I was just so pleased to meet someone else with twins - and ID boys too! - in RL.

I have a day to myself today as DD at nursery - so time to tackle babies' room and start on the hospital bag. Doc and MW talk of 'these babies may well come before 36 weeks' has got me panicing! Saw MW yesterday and she AGAIN said this to me! So I think I have got 7 weeks to go but need to face up to the possibility of them coming before then...Shock

How are you feeling Rednellie? any twinges?!

Hello to Goingmad and Teds and other Mummies - and sending 'good night sleep' vibes to Claire and BB3 , Katy and Quempin.

rednellie · 07/03/2012 12:15

bigboosb, your names are brilliant so I wouldn't have thought your DH would have minded much anyway! When I gave birth to DD I literally announced her name as DH was cutting the cord and seeing as I'd just given birth without drugs he didn't feel he could object! Ha ha Grin

I don't think it's weird about hooking up with a twin mum - I think it's brilliant. When I first moved out here I did a lot of that kind of thing and glad I did as I wouldn't have had any friends otherwise. I met a mum of nonID boys yesterday at my dance group and couldn't stop looking at them and getting all gooey. To the point where I think I freaked one of the boys out as he kept giving me death stares (they're 21 months). But I didn't care - they were just adorable. I've also found it incredibly useful talking to other twin mums about their experiences - there are definitely a few things that seem to be mentioned by everyone.

Oooh skitoo, I hope you like the bra. As I said, not the most glamorous thing, but so so comfortable and actually quite nice (much nicer then Tena Pants. Not in the same league so don't worry.) God, how I wish we had mother care here - seriously, I thought North America was the land of choice and plenty, but there is a dearth of good baby shops here. I have been looking for a second pram suit for AGES and it's only yesterday I found one and it was in North Face so frigging expensive. Drives me bananas. Mother care would make a killing out here...

SAS = coolest initials ever. So yes, you are officially allowed Sebastian dreaming. We've all said it so that's settled Wink. Sorry your DD is still having problems getting to sleep. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

And thanks for all the lovely comments about our names...that's helped a lot. (dreaming, you're not the only one who's said about the cereal connotations...)

And no twinges...sorry BB3! Had mw appointment yesterday, my mw's are so lovely. Anyway bp good, bump enormous (I measured around my bump and it's 51 inches. And I've put on 20kg since start of pregnancy - all bump btw), she couldn't get a heart beat for either boy as they were actually fighting her off - she said she'd never seen anything like it. Literally arms and legs flailing around. I think it's because they're top and tails facing each other so the middle of my belly is just lots of limbs...have to film it really as I wont be able to remember how bizarre/wonderful it is. I'm at that funny stage though where I kind of want them to stay inside as at least then I know they're safe. Silly really. Anyway, 37 weeks today ladies! It's all gravy from here on in.

DreamingOfPeace · 07/03/2012 13:54

Good point bigboobs, I will indeed point that out about the names Grin . I would have done exactly the same with the woman with twins. In fact, I have found a twin mum with a 3 or 4 year old on mn who lives 15 min from me- I have managed to get her phone number and will in fact text her now to see if she'd like to meet up for a chat so I can pick her brains

rednellies having the babies tomorrow anyway- for the full moon Grin ANd well done for getting to 37 weeks!!!! What an achievement. My problem is I think they're safer out than in- I worry I won't notice one not moving etc etc and they're at more risk while placenta-dependent and me-noticing dependent. I will breathe a sigh of relief when they're safely here. I must go and measure my bump.... But first I must lie down... Sleep is becoming ever more elusive. I can't lie on my back now- too breathless. I can't lie on my right- rib agony. I can kind of cope with my left side, but with both arms fully above my head only, and months of this has given me 2 painful shoulders. Plus the constant need to wee, plus the reflux. Plus I'm not getting early nights as DD won't pipe down... So I'm feeling a little negative and very tired and grumpy today.

bb3, how long was it before you could pick your DS up after your CS? I'm worrying about ths as I literally carry DD round all the time. If I haven't picked her up for 5 minutes it's unusual. Argh! I'm almost hoping to go into labour before my CS date now-like the day before, not prem before, what a change Grin

Dreaming - Depends what you mean by pick up, I carried DS out the hospital on +1 day when I was discharged but I didn't physically pick him up as he was on the hospital bed and so could just cling on to me. Picking up is a problem, holding up is not - so once he was up, there was no problem whatsoever but I couldn't bend down and lift him. He would sit on my lap a lot and DH or my mum would give him to me to carry or hug and I would pass him back to be put down!

Evening all, I am just loving not having to go to work and having the work phone and laptop shut away in the cupboard. Where do the days go though?

Bigboobs, love all of your names in any combination and love how they can all have cute baby nn's and then be all grown up when needed. Surely DH agrees. I think it's great you've met someone local with twins, I would have done exactly the same .

Sorry you had another tough night with DD Dream and that you're feeling a bit low today - Here's some Thanks for you. There is no way your little boy will be ridiculed for being the SAS, I used to use it to instill fear!!

Hoorah for getting to 37 weeks Rednellie, that really is fantastic! You did just make me run upstairs though and whip the tape measure out. I'm 41" round the bump so obviously got a way to go, eek! Can I ask what clothes you're wearing to get round the bump as I'm thinking none of my current mat clothes will fit in another couple of weeks Hmm. V.jealous of your lovely midwifes, mines rubbish. Haven't actually seen her since 16 weeks as she just fobs me off when I try to book an appt with her by saying, see the hospital or GP...

We had some of the nursery interior stuff delivered today, so feel its coming together and feeling real now. Been looking in the room and can't believe that I'm actually going to have babies to put in there, feel so lucky Smile.

On that mushy note I better go and put some dinner on for when DH gets home.

rednellie · 07/03/2012 20:08

Yey for babies! Not that I have any yet...I can't wait to meet them now. Gush...

I am currently wearing a series of kaftan type things mainly because of the itching farrago as they touch the least amount of my skin. Dresses with leggings have been way better value and have lasted longer - I've got a denim tunic thing that I bought from Top Shop maternity last time round that still fits and a couple of enormous shirts from Zara that I bought for a beach holiday years ago. So I look slightly insane as it is winter here in Canada, but trousers just don't fit anymore, at least not ones made of stiffer material. I have a couple of pairs of those m&s black jersey trousers which aren't that beautiful, but cover the bump, don't have any irritating seams and look alright when paired with said enormous shirts...

dreaming I'm sorry about your sleep. Have you tried sleeping sort of sitting up to go to sleep? Takes a bit of getting used to, but is much more comfortable. I'm at the stage now where if I swap from sleeping on one side to the other I have to physically pick my belly up as it's so heavy....

DreamingOfPeace · 07/03/2012 21:47

lol rednellie, I kind of do the picking up bump thing- it's definitely an assited manouevre... Both boys are facing right though, so I presume that's why my rib pain is so much worse on the right and even propped up I can't ease to the right. Inconvenient!!!! I will try more sitting up tonight.

I'm wearing a pair of linen maternity trousers I had last time- totally lightweight and summery and wrong season (though black so not obvious, yay!), under-the-bump (and I clearly wear them way too low as there's no need to undo button etc to go to the loo, just pull up/down) with a really long (though now just about long enough) bamboo maternity top I got in the Serephine sale this time. I bought 3 (by accident, meant to buy one of each colour that was in sale, clearly clicked 'add to basket' twice on one...) but this is the comfiest so tend to wear it every day... My tunic maternity tops don't really fit- washing wasn't dry this morning so I wore over the bump leggings and this tunic top- way too tight, indecently short- thank goodness for long cardy type of thing. We only went to Toddler group anyway. I wish I'd got some properly huge floaty dresses.... I'm happiest with minimal layers and minimal touching over the bump though- so I like the low soft trousers and super soft bamboo top combo best for the bump-itch!! What I'm wearing in my latest bump pic on my profile is what I wear every day Smile . Stylish, me Hmm

Very encouraged I'll likely to able to hold DD if not pick her up bb3. Once DH goes back to work I'll have to be able to lift her though- in and out cot/highchair/car/pushchair/up and down stairs are all essential... Hopefully I can recruit family for some of the time, but not first thing in the morning out of cot- she sometimes wakes up as DH shuts our noisy front door so too late for him to get her out for me... Is 3 weeks long enough to be lifting her?! And don't come early babies, that works out like that because of the Easter bank holidays!!!

bigboobs, I have taken your example and contacted this twin mum I found on here who lives near me and meeting her on Friday :-) My mum is going to be up, so I might even be able to drop her off with DD somewhere and meet her for a coffee without my little cling-on!

skitoo, I haven't seen the midwife for months and months either- they're not intersted here either. How lovely they've got a room ready now Grin I can't believe I'm so lucky either but it makes me more mental and worry something will go wrong now

34 week growth scan tomorrow afternoon, wonder how big they'll be!?

rednellie · 08/03/2012 02:19

Good luck with scan tomorrow dreaming. Exciting times - can you believe we're so near the end? We'll definitely need a post-natal thread otherwise I shall miss you all and pine terribly (I know I could come on to this thread, but it'd be nice to have a post-natal one too....anyone been on the current ones on the multiples section?)

I LOVE my midwives, they make me feel normal and are so reassuring. But it's all a bit different here. Midwives weren't legally recognised until 1997! And I've end up with 'shared care' between them and the OB as I wanted the best of both worlds. Anyway, they're all getting very excited too as they don't have too many twin mums, but they've all got lots of experience delivering twins - two of my midwives worked in Africa for long periods of time so have seen it all.

Sorry, wittering, just passing the time whilst DH bathes DD. She's currently obsessed with not having any "fluff" in her bath so I can hear DH desperately trying to catch all the bits before she has a hissy fit! Two year olds are hilarious/totally annoying!
