I have PUPPS

This would explain the itching! I've just started using a really low dose steroid cream and it seems to be clearing up quite nicely. Ah, feel so much better now the itching's gone down a bit and I know what it is...the stretch marks also look better.

Hi katy, glad you've made it through the early days! It's always good to hear from you.

DreamingOfPeace · 28/02/2012 15:24

That's really interesting rednellie, plus you're having boys as it says.... So they really are giving you grief before they've been born, with the not turning and horrible sounding rash, eek! Did the pharmacist diagnose it or a doctor? Glad the steroid cream is helping a bit. Are you 36 and a bit weeks now? Not too long to itch for even though one solid hour probably feels like forever never mind two weeks

Tired. Sore. Going for a rest while my dad has dd. No other news.

DreamingOfPeace · 28/02/2012 15:26

Oh, but my dd was 3.43kg at 40+4 so msybe I will be on for nearly 6lb 'average' babies Smile

BB3 · 28/02/2012 20:51

So my girls were bang on time but heavier than average Grin works for me Grin

Rednellie - ouch but yay for cream and double yay for not long now!!!

Just very quickly popping in to share a nice twin moment from today. The girls were tired and screaming and we'd been rocking and holding them for ages. Nothing was working so I grabbed both girls (one in each arm) to give my family a break and they stopped crying, held hands and just smiled at each other Grin - the emotional wreck part of me shed a little tear from the pure cuteness of it all - they were crying because they were apart and all they wanted was to hold each others hand Grin was lovely xxx

Hope everyone is ok xxxx

DreamingOfPeace · 28/02/2012 21:22

Oh how sweet BB3!! Not the tired and screaming part, that sounds very hard... The hand holding sounds quite magic though!

I think mine'll be 38 week whoppers :-)
SO impatient now, so uncomfortable... 5 weeks tomorrow. Argh! Getting second car seat tomorrow hopefully, may even pack a hospital bag soon... Any top tips for if i do get to my date and have a CS BB3?

goingmadtrying · 29/02/2012 07:08

morning ladies :)

rednellie glad you finally have found something to cure the itching :)

Katy lovely to hear things have settled for you, thank you for finding time to pop on and update us

waves to all the lovely twin ladies, can't believe some of you are down to single figures, rednellie are you next??? and dream with only 5 weeks left get that bag packed!!! lol

i had a consultant appointment yesterday all still looking good babies and fluid levels all ok, she still wouldn't confirm the sexes!! she said it was too early :( just hope babybond were right!!
i went back to work on Monday all was ok and they have agreed to a 10pm finish :) i also confirmed my last working day would be 30/4!!! so only 32 working days left woohoo [ grin]

sorry for such a generic post its hard to catch back up on my phone, hope everyone is keeping well have a good day :)

skitoo · 29/02/2012 12:47

Hello Lovely Ladies Smile

Rednellie, glad you've found out something specific about the rash and hopefully the cream is doing the trick to ease the itchiness. And so not long to go now, am very excited for you Grin but here comes a for twin A to move his foot out of the way!! Ooh just realised that you are scheduled to have your ECV today, without working out what time it is there, hope that he's moved his little tootsie in time and you haven't had to have it. But if you have then hope its all gone well and fingers crossed its worked xx.

Hi Katy, glad to hear that things are well with your little ones, sorry about the belly, am sure it'll work its way back soon.

Hows the moby wrap Dream, have you had a chance to practice yet? I was thinking of a sling just for ease round the house if one is particularly unsettled, so would be keen to hear your verdict. Recall reading some good reviews about those Close ones - has anyone used or seen one of them? Let me know how you get on with the hospital bag, its on my list of things to start looking at next week. DH has started nagging me about it, says he's feeling unprepared, bless him.

BB3, your post has made me go all gooey, how sweet is that Smile.

Goingmad, how frustrating that your consultant wouldn't give you a clue as to what flavour you have in there, whens your next scan and will they let you find out for sure then? Don't worry though, am sure your private one was correct, so I say treat yourself to some little pink purchases. Hoorah for agreeing your ML start date, it really put my mind at ease when I did, hope it does the same for you.

Not much to report here except I've developed that nasty carpal tunnel syndrome - rubbish Sad.

Waves to everyone else.

rednellie · 29/02/2012 14:12

On the topic of slings...I am a massive fan of wraps, they are intimidating to begin with, but they are the best in terms of support for you and the babas and are so adaptable. I carried DD in it until I was pregnant with this lot! But I use a harder woven fabric as I find it doesn't sag as much by the end of the day.

I'm still here - 36 weeks today! Whoop. Got my ultrasound this morning to see if I need the ECV tomorrow. My midwives are being amazing and are coming to hold my hand through it all. Am mainly worrying about having to not eat or drink for 8 hours before it!

Love to you all and I'll update when I know anything...

goingmadtrying · 29/02/2012 14:27

hi skitoo i have my next scan on 15/3 which is my detailed scan so should get confirmation then :)

i think I've probably got the startings of carpel tunnel, wake up with dead hands, and hubby has said my circulation has gone in hands as there freezing!! also when holding some stuff get pins and needles in ends of fingers Hmm its annoying :)

yay 36 weeks rednellie, fingers crossed for scan hope twin a has moved his foot!!! sorry for ignorance what is ECV ????

rednellie · 29/02/2012 14:47

External Cephalic Version....but they don't normally do it with twins. However, they're not really trying to turn one, they're just trying to lift him to let the other one slip under him as it were.

DreamingOfPeace · 29/02/2012 16:20

I wish you lived here rednellie, I am a definite baby-wearing fan, it was a godsend for dd and me, the only way I got anything done and her to sleep! My sling of choice is the Ergo baby, though I've bought a Boba 3G as it was borrowed and has gone on to someone else. I only stopped doubting when pg too. skitoo I'm going to a sling meet tomorrow to hopefully get some tips for the wrap sling- as a mum perfectly happy with getting dd in and out if various slings, on and off my back in the Ergo etc I'm intimidated!! Seen pics of twins with one in a wrap on the mums front and one in a mei tei on her back, but think the wrap is best way forward til head control stage when they can go on your back... Argh!! Unless I buy a Weego... There might be a sling meet near you- loads of different ones to try and people to ask about it from what I gather...

36 weeks, whoop whoop rednellie!! Good luck for the ECV tomorrow, hope he moves.

I'm losing all my rest time on mn so hopefully back later...

DreamingOfPeace · 29/02/2012 16:21

Oh- I meant you'll be wrapping those twins no problem and could teach me rednellie!!!

DreamingOfPeace · 29/02/2012 16:22

Only stopped doubting?! Auto correct... Only stopped slinging dd when pg again.

BB3 · 29/02/2012 19:38

Skitoo - I have the close parent slings (x2) and I love them! We didn't get a twin sling as you can only use them up to 6 months apparently (although that's just the advice on one site) so I couldn't really justify the cost when I already had two close ones from ds (dh didn't like wearing the red one so had to buy him a black one Hmm

Cs tips - enjoy the complete lack of feeling and calm because as soon as they're out you won't have any again. Grin Get mobile as soon as possible post cs, literally as soon as you're able - although don't do too much (gentle working!). Don't stand up for too long, only short bursts. Oh and make a sign by your bed that you see as soon as you open your eyes that says 'USE YOUR HANDS TO GET UP!' as I would always forget and wake up to the babies crying and automatically sit up without support and it HURTS!! Not everyone has the same experience but as you know I loved my cs (after dreading it horribly) and the recovery was far easier than my vb where i had quite bad internal tearing (lost both sides of the os). Buy big pants that go over your scar and loose trousers that sit on your tummy not your knickers line. Take all the drugs they offer you even if it doesn't hurt at the time (it's every 4 hours ish) my mw told me this as apparently if you don't a couple of hours later you'll regret it, I followed her advice and didn't really feel much pain at all post op.

Most importantly don't get caught up with how babies 'should' arrive, what would be 'better' for babies. Trust my whether vb or cs you'll know you've given birth!!!

Katy I've started training again and my tummy is still saggy but getting much better and the girls are 5.5 months! When you think how much it stretched it is bound to take longer to go back to normal (If ever!!!) but hoping I'll get there soon, don't worry too much, it'll happen xxx

BB3 · 29/02/2012 19:40

Knicker line
And
Trust me!

DreamingOfPeace · 29/02/2012 21:26

Yes, twin slings definitely have a weight limit, and I think if you do have baby elephants you'd not manage to carry them in it together like that til 6 months! that's why I've gone for the scary looking wrap (despite being a ready- made sling fan) so i can have them both in it when they're tiny, and then wear one in that and one on my back in the Boba 3G. Or some variety of slings anyway. Single pushchair then, bonus!!

I'm getting so tired I'm struggling to cope with and keep up with DD. She obviously knows this and plays up to it- running off whenever I try to put her coat on etc... I'm getting nervous about how I'll physically cope with her at the end when I'm even bigger and even more exhausted... Have also hit the really difficult to sleep stage properly, if it's not one thing waking me and keeping me awake it's another now, rubbish!!

That all sounds like really good advice BB3. I must get some trousers like that... My anaesthetist friend insists there has been no conclusive evidence that VB is better than CS for babies. And certainly, an ELCS is better than a true EMCS for the baby. And I know my consultant had her only child via ELCS for no medical reason- she's a friend of a friend. I should stop the guilt over having booked one and stop wavering over what to do and just make up my mind and stick to it!! Really pleased you said recovery was better than from internal tearing BB3 as obviously, with a third degree tear, I had a lot of that and a really slow recovery.

goingmad, very frustrating they won't check gender again for you, but I'm sure you're Team Pink!

rednellie · 29/02/2012 21:51

So...had the scan and Twin A has gone from being breech and having his foot in the way to being head down, anterior and basically in perfect position for birth. Whereas...Twin B has gone from being head down to being sort of breech and basically moving so much the sonographer had me lying on my side at one point.

These boys are totally silly! Grin I basically am now assuming we wont be able to tell anything until I actually go into labour and see what position they're in then...this pregnancy has not been without its entertaining moments...

DreamingOfPeace · 29/02/2012 23:17

Oh wow rednellie! But as we'd kind of assumed he wouldn't move that's great! Maybe he'll do like my twin A now and lodge himself so far down in your pelvis on your bladder that its very unlikely he'll move?! Fingers crossed anyway! Yours are certainly interesting :-) Does your consultant not mind about T2's position, like here, when you go into labour?

rednellie · 01/03/2012 02:47

Seeing as they were prepared to go for a VB with two breech babies I'm guessing they wont mind Baby B mucking around. I'm going to do lots of walking around to get Baby A firmly stuck in my pelvis! And I've said I'm willing for lots of students to be at my birth for the sake of all breech babies to come...I was in such a zone with the last birth I really couldn't give a toss if I gave birth in front of 100's. Anyway, let's not get excited, who knows what will happen in the meantime?

bigboobsatlast · 01/03/2012 08:11

Hi ladies!
What an active pair you have Rednellie! as they have moved round so mjuch then I am sure there is every chance they will adopt the 'diving out' position before there time to emerge comes! You have a very positive approach to birth which is worth so much for a good labour and birth. I can't believe you will be posting on here before too long to say they have arrived!! I am excited so you must be MEGA excited!

It looks like a few of us have got to the stage of thinking about birth options - I had a consultant appt / scan yesterday. Both are doing very well - good size and the same size which is really all they are looking for (one was 2lb 9 and the other was 2lb 10 - I am 28 weeks, I think this is good??).They are now both head down (sorry Rednellie!). So, had the conversation about birth and looks like I will be pushing them out afterall! I am very pleased about this but I find the conflicting advice from different docs / midwives frustrating and confusing. It has gone from c-section at 26 weeks (not up for discussion), to possible VB but must be with an epidural and in theatre in case any problems - to where we are now which is VB not in a theatre unless there are concerns and no need for an epidural! I don't want an epidural, so again pleased but I do worry about this different advice - who is right? I asked about 'having to have' an epidural incase of any problems with twin 2, but he said this was not necessary and I would be given a general if there was a need to get twin 2 out by c-section.

I came away pleased - I would rather VB and would rather no epidural - but I can't help but worry about the risks for the babies, and woould a c-section be better? I joined Tamba yesterday so might post on there about it. Quempin and Katy - I think your twins are ID? What were you advised about birth options? (I know you probably haven't got the time or energy to reply to that!)

We also talked about when I would have them, and asked if I would get a date to come in and be induced - he said they would want them delivered at 36 weeks or at the most 37 weeks - but then he said (exact words) 'but they may very well come before then'. I am now panicing about how unprepared I am - nothign sorted in the house, only one car seat and no names!! And then last night I dreamt that I had the babies today - in a library! I kept saying 'but I only came in to bring some books back'!!! I think the anticipation / worry / excitement is getting to me!

Thanks for getting all the stats for me 'Dream*, you are good! How is DD? All better I hope and letting you get a bit more rest. When does your help start?

Goingmad, I am sure your girls are still girls! You have not got too long to wait for double confirmation. I still ask at every scan 'are they still boys' - just to check! They then show me the boys bits to prove it!

Hello to all twin mummies - BB3, Claire, Katy and Quempin - hope a good nights sleep was had by all....

Happy last day but one at work Skitoo!

Sorry for long rambeling post. This really is he only place I can talk to people in the same situation - I still know no one with twins in RL!

x

goingmadtrying · 01/03/2012 08:53

bigboobsthat's great news re your birthing options i think they were being cautious at the beginning and maybe know in good positions that's why vb more possible :) I've been told i will deliver in week 36, so ill be 36 weeks on Sunday and will deliver in that week if not before!!!!

rednellie excellent news about twins moving down get walking to bring twin a as far down as possible, we will be hearing from you anytime that your babies are here :)

sorry to hear your having a rough time dream not long now!!!!

bigboobsatlast · 01/03/2012 09:11

And has dleivery been mentioned to you yet Going? have they said about VB or c-section?

I have bitten the bullet and posted in 'baby names'... some good suggestions so far! Got to make some progress soon! Has any one else got their names sorted or still having difficulties like me?

goingmadtrying · 01/03/2012 09:17

my consultant said at first appointment that she wouldn't discuss this till nearer the time but if in good positions wouldn't need cs, all dependant on situation at time ie ttts, positions how many weeks. tbh id assumed would be cs but now not sure i would be worried about vb then twin 2 not turning!! my vb previously were good and quick so who knows!!!

re names how difficult is it??? its so hard finding 2 that go together, i had some boys names but no girls!!! best get thinking, i reckon im quite organised re equipment:)

DreamingOfPeace · 01/03/2012 09:53

No names yet here either bigboobs and I have just checked my notes- at 28 weeks my babies were exactly the same weights as yours- 2lb 9 and 2lb 10, 50th centile. You're joining us in nice big babies!!

Am meant to be rushing to this sling meet.... Must dash

rednellie · 01/03/2012 11:10

bigboobs, that's fantastic news that they are giving you options. In terms of 'who to believe' basically I've come to one conclusion after my slightly insane journey - every HCP will give you the answer that they feel comfortable with. Therefore, if they get nervous about women being out of control during labour they wont feel comfortable without an epi being there. If they do feel comfortable then they wont pressure you into using one. It's also a difference of philosophy - as dreaming said earlier, there isn't much difference health benefit-wise for babies between a section and a VB, but for mums there may be a huge difference, emotionally and physically. That's not to say this is the case for everyone and there is a difference between natural labour pain and someone actively suffering (in which case you'd want an epi/intervention etc), but the positive aspects of giving birth on a woman can be amazing. I felt that with my last birth and that's why I've gone to such lengths to work out what my options are. I'm not a hero, I realise I may still end up having a section for multiple reasons which I'm totally cool with, but I wanted to know I'd explored every avenue first. And personally, I hate it when people say 'as long as the babies are healthy' - well of course I want my babies to be effing healthy, but that shouldn't be used as a threat to stop me from questioning procedure. "Know your rights, but be reasonable" has become my mantra!

Bit of a rant, but that's been my take on it! I could write a book...Grin

Names - after feeling like ours were all sorted, they're all up in the air again. It's funny reading all your comments about how I'm imminently going to give birth - I honestly am in total denial about that and don't feel like it's going to happen anytime soon. Maybe I should try and sort names out!

Wave to everyone who's lurking.
