Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Bellakins · 22/12/2011 20:34

Congrats Katie!!

I've been getting lots of additional discharge, to the extent I wondered if waters were leaking. Midwife says all is normal, just our bodies preparing for birth. Have bought some Boots maternity pads.

Well, I finally finished work today ... 37+3!! The last few weeks have been so tough and I am thrilled that I've managed it. Hopefully I can get some rest over Christmas, and then will feel ready for labour. Had a lovely lunch with the girls from work and was presented with a big bunch of flowers. Feel very spoilt!!

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 22/12/2011 20:37

Congrats on the ML starting Belakins Xmas Grin

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 22/12/2011 20:43

Welcome to the wonderful world of maternity leave Bella. Just make sure you put your feet up! Xmas Smile

Oeisha · 22/12/2011 20:51

missree Well, at least you know...

worm Give 'em a ring tomorrow. Ask for clarification...not much help now, but hey-ho.

bellakins Congrats! Just check your pay slips. I'm now gonna have to go into work to sort out the near 50% shortfall this month! If only the post had come early today.

Ergh. Might have a bath and go to bed. Despite a nap I'm tired!!!

Bellakins · 22/12/2011 20:54

Thank you Parsley and Dee. My (swollen) feet are well and truly resting up! This is bliss. (fsmile)

Bellakins · 22/12/2011 20:56

Arggggh ... I mean Xmas Smile !!

Blush
Bellakins · 22/12/2011 21:01

Ooops, x posted Oeisha, thank you too.

How annoying your pay needs sorting, hope it's relatively easy to fix. I will definitely keep an eye on mine. Enjoy the bath and early night!

Oeisha · 22/12/2011 21:02

Oh. Abi's now hiccuping...not gonna be sleeping for a while. She's going crazy, including some exceedlingly unpleasant rectum kicking/punching (depending on her orientation)...

Oeisha · 22/12/2011 21:06

Not to worry.
She's now sticking the other appendages out my right side. Might have to take her in the bath and see if I can float her left a bit.

8 days in to new thread and 25 pages/610 posts! Xmas Grin

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 22/12/2011 21:11

Is it because most of us are on ML now? Except me and fryn Sad

supadupaturkeystupor · 22/12/2011 21:12

Is anyone else still breech? I have my 36wk MW check in the morning to see if baby is still breech - which I am pretty sure she is.....

MW said she wanted me in for a scan between xmas and new year if she has any suspicions of breech to get the ball rolling with regard to ECV. I am very Sad. Not due until 20th!

supadupaturkeystupor · 22/12/2011 21:14

oeisha I'm constantly amazed how much this baby sticks out and hurts! I am sure DS was not so bad...but i had polyhydromnious with him so there was a bit of padding

speaking of which, i put 5lb on this week (might have mentioned already) which has to be baby and fluid retention. Going to mention it and see what MW says...can't be right can it?

GiraffeAHolic · 22/12/2011 21:20

I'm amazed at the intensity of movement I'm still feeling at this stage, there can't be much room in there yet I'm still getting protruding body parts everywhere from pelvis to ribcage Xmas Shock

Crosshair · 22/12/2011 21:37

Congrats Katy. Xmas Smile

I've put on a good 5lb since last week, my hands, feet and face look bloated, so assuming/hoping its mostly water. Confused

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 22/12/2011 21:46

Thank you for the review fish!

We were all talking about stretch marks etc recently - just wanted to update you that on a whim I bought Palmer's scar serum and have been applying it to my new stretch marks on my thighs. It's a bit yucky (and not vegetarian Sad) and sticky but I genuinely think I've seen an enormous improvement in about a week. The marks are still there but much less angry and red. I'm impressed! I've only been applying it 1-2 times a day too.

It's not cheap but was on 2 for 1 in boots last week. For those of you with new marks, I'd recommend. I have been applying Bio Oil to bump and legs for months now btw - no marks on my belly but did nothing to spare my thighs.

SantaSHO · 22/12/2011 22:23

Iv also ditched the Bio-oil ghost swapped it for Palmers Belly Butter (?). Still early days but no new marks since I started it.

Enjoy your Mat Leave bella

This baby goes through phases of being really active. It can be really painful at times but today was the worst by far. I had to grab on to the arm of the chair it soo bad at times.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 23/12/2011 05:20

The Boots scar serum seems to help fade out my stretch marks a bit, or maybe they're just fading with time, I don't know. Am trying not to stress think about them more than I have to. As DH says, they're a badge of honour for carrying a baby.

Fish - is ylang ylang useful at all in labour? I adore the smell and just discovered a whole new bottle in my goodie box :) Also found a reasonably full bottle of almond oil and some geranium, so at least I don't have to buy those. For some reason, though, I have two bottles of peppermint... curious. I never use peppermint!

Morning ladies Smile on my way in to work for the last time til 4 Jan and then I only have 3 days! Grin

I have to work from home between Xmas and new year because we have no London bound trains from my station due to engineering works. Replacement bus services only making the minimum journey time nearly 1 hr 15 mins each way. 1 hr 45 door to door Not a chance I'm doing that!

Hope everybody has a good day and best wishes to mummyZoe today. Hope the hospital sort something out for her.

Also thinking of kittie hope all ok with her and her LO

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 23/12/2011 08:47

morning all,

off to consultant for my final app before d day I think.

see you later

xxx

addictediam · 23/12/2011 08:54

Gah, I posted a big post earlier and have just realised mn ate it :(

Basically it said hope mummyzoe is sorted today and thinking of you

Fish what does clary sage do? Dr Google seems confused! Some say it stops labour, some say it brings it on and others say its just natural pain relief, and not very good.

Ive found vastelline coco butter works quite well for strech marks, its not great tho, but a cheep alternitive to bio oil and palmers

MissRee · 23/12/2011 09:13

Urrrrrgh just popped to asda to get essentials to see us through til next week and it was madness already!!!

Now off to doctors appointment for this awful cold/infection thing I have. Just in time too considering I just had a funny turn in asda and came over all faint!!! One of them proper illness/fever/hot sweats type feelings :( Blehhhh!

DP has got his work party later and I've got to go meet him tonight... would be sods law that I'll go into labour with him in a totally inebriated state Grin oh well, I can't complain - he doesn't usually drink at all and this is probably the only time this year he's had a drink at all!!!

Have a good day ladies x

greenlady78 · 23/12/2011 09:44

Congrats katy how exciting!

fish thank you for such detailed post on oils! I think I will copy the spray one, it sounds great Smile Good luck with appointment today!

mummyzoe thinking of you and hoping you will get a proper answer today! Hopefully you managed to rest last night!

missree hope the GP sort your cold out! Not fun during the holidays! Sad

Had my 35 week GP appointment yesterday and little one moved to the right, still head down and 3/5...wowowowowow, I am really hoping he makes an early appearance...I can't wait to see him!

Now off to cleaning the flat, going to post office and some shopping...no rest for the wicked!

Oeisha · 23/12/2011 10:02

mz FX for you. Abi's heart rate was about 130-160 which didn't overly worry them...so hopefully your LO is good. It did spike at 190 but they think she was on her cord then... FX and

supa I'm possibly breech and 36+2 now...or I have a 2 headed baby...or ceph and very well engaged and a boney-arsed daughter. Got my scan, with consultant "just in case" next week. Here's hoping they're not!
Also, my weight is fluctuating a lot, by about 6lb. Again MW isn't worried, but metion it. Fluid retention and inconsistent bowels (despite lactulose) is to blame.
"Sudden" weight gain can be a sign of various things, but isn't in itself a symptom IYSWIM, so def. mention it...if you are getting swelling and it doesn't go wodn with rest then def. def. ring MW and get it checked. My left ankle goes up occasionally, but usually when I've been on my feet too much. It goes down with resting it (fairly quickly).

to parsley and fryn...soon...

Re: stretchmarks, I've also noticed mine don't seem to be "as bad". They're a lot calmer now. Still only smearing the palmer's cocoa butter on. Confused

missree I get that in supermarkets as a shopper. Have started to take off my coat as soon as I go in. Pregnant Mums often overheat, especially waiting at checkouts where there's not usually any active cooling. It's amazing how many women don't notice their bright-red babies are blatantly yelling because they're being roasted at checkouts...and they've kept babies snow-suit on... Anyway, I hope Dr can help you out a bit.

I hope we all have good days. I'm off out for lunch (I'm sure I can squeeze a shower in in 2h). Supposed to be tidying too. Ah well.

MissRee · 23/12/2011 10:25

The verdict is... pharyngitis and sinusitis Sad
