Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Gorgeous new thread Dream, most excellent work. Jelly snakes!!!!!!! I shall be sitting over there! Randomly you were in my dream last night! Had a really vivid dream that i went to me 20 weeks scan and was told i had TWIN boys. I was shocked at the sudden doubling of occupancy in my uterus and how this might affect my plans for home birth and how it would be trickier for feeding whilst wandering about in sling etc. But i did have the good sense to think "must pop onto mumnet, dream will be surprised!" haha!

MeconiumHappens · 13/11/2011 13:07

re the bras, i have gone from a c to a d. At one point they were colossal so i bought a dd but have found the cup size, rather than just being baggier, is pushing oo far sideways into my underarm/rib areas which is quite uncomfy. So i guess the cut is really important. If worse comes to worse and you fid them really baggy maybe you could get some washable breast pads as they would bulk out a bit?

MeconiumHappens · 13/11/2011 13:08

or worst comes to worst ? ?

dreamfeeder · 13/11/2011 13:14

Love it!!! That is so similar to my dream when I went for a scan very late on and was told it was triplets- 2 girls and a boy, 2 identical and one fraternal (blooming detailed dream it was!) and I decided to call one of the girls Faith. DH will not accept that this was a premonition not of twins but that we should call a girl Faith though!!! I woke up shocked, and suddenyl 2 felt like not very many babies at all!!

Today I am very tired with a very sore back, have been out with DD to playground- so lots of chasing around, came back, made dinner to go in the slow cooker, did 2 loads of washing, and nearly lost my temper when I couldn't get DD to nap.... DH has taken her out in the buggy for a sleep now, eyeing me suspiciously and saying 'get a grip, she's just a baby who can't fall asleep' - a bit rich from the one who had a 2.5 hour lie-in, and then a leisurely breakfast with no wife and daughter around, and then pottered out into the garden to plant some bulbs... I restrained myself from the comments I could have made.

scream, the arguing settles down. Usually when the baby is about 6 months old. Then you get pg again, and it starts again. So I find. Wink. Really though, it is the most life-changing thing you can do, and while we suffer from the beginning and are often always aware of the baby and being pg, life just carries on as normal for the blokes. It's a lot more abstract for them I think. Especially as I stayed pretty fit last time, and there was little I didn't do that I did before. Once she arrived, and we had to be home, and try to stick to a set bed time, and deal with a colicky baby and had no time for ourselves the reality set in!!! I don't mean we argued all the time just most of it!!!! , just that life changes to become so unrecognisable it's a shock to the system. We didn't argue that much in pregnancy really, as I wasn't worrying about buying anything as we were going to get loads of hand-me-downs, we were trying to sell the house though, so that was stressful, and then agreeing a part exchange when I was 39+2 and moving when DD was 5 weeks old to the day was stressful. But we're obviously still very happy or we wouldn't be having more babies. We had our last lovely weekend away when I was 36 weeks pg and it was lovely!! We tried to really make the most of the 9 omnths, and went out for dinner as much as possible, and to the cinema etc etc, knowing it would all stop!!

good point meconium. I do still wear the D's when none of my 4 C cup ones are clean, so I guess I should just buy and hope for the best and I do have some washable breast pads I could start using. Having a few leaking problems, but I guess that's stopping bf while being pg?! Did you have any isues like this jaggy?

Lovely new thread dream! Jelly snakes, yum!

I've gone up a size, but I still had some bras left in that size from when I realised they weren't fitting properly, got measured and moved a size down - so I've just been using those!

Also very tempted by the pregnancy pillow, but can't afford to shell out that much at the mo! Might have to ask for it for Christmas. Am making do with two 'extra' pillows at the moment, which I must say are quite comfy some of the time.

dreamfeeder · 13/11/2011 13:28

mmm, junk food cravings today musical. And I thought when you posted before you were going to say your bump was like mine and I wasn't big at all... and then you said first time round. oh well, cruise-liner status here I come!!!

Right, I need to get to bed for a rest before DH brings DD back.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 13/11/2011 14:12

Oooo shiny new thread! Love it!

I've also been using a an extra pillow for a few days, but at my back not my front. I don't think I'm big enough at the front to benefit from a pg pillow yet, but I will def be getting one later on. For now I just wish I could find something that I can lean back on in bed. My prob is I need to sleep on my side, but I naturally roll over onto my back (big no no with an overarched spine) so I want something which will prop me up when I start to lean back. Haven't found anything suitable yet.

Mmmmm jelly snakes! DH is feeling guilty today after yday, might send him out to get some!!

Biscuitsandtea · 13/11/2011 14:17

Just marking my place

Wants3 · 13/11/2011 14:24

Yeah, found you all by going to the topic list- no new fangled link thingy for me! DH grovelling abit now. We were talking about how my midriff was firming up and filling out and then he said " I hope they can find it tomorrow" then realised it sounded like I was too fat for ultrasound. Apologised immediately as that is not what he meant at all! :) trying to keep busy so I don't think about it too much, nervous and excited all at once! Got to work in the morning though. Was anyone else able to tell gender at 12 week scan( I will be 13) SIL was told boy at her last 2 and they were right!

jaggythistle · 13/11/2011 14:38

will be back for bra and boob chat soon, just in from work and now have a week off - yay!

love what you've done with the place dream.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 13/11/2011 15:55

Hello all!

Yay for a week off, Jaggy! Envy

Wants, at the 12 week scan the sonographer looked at me as if I were mad and said she'd never heard of nub theory. So no, I had to wait.

Hee hee, DH just hooked the doppler up to the big telly speakers and we found Bean's heartbeat loud and clear. The dog was fascinated, cocking his head to one side and nosing at the speakers Grin. Might have to do that again when Mum visits on Friday. Both grinning like idiots now!

fishcakefoxtrot · 13/11/2011 16:35

Scream it did start with niggling lower back pain for the last week or so. I used to get a bad back and, when I had a proper income, I used to see a chiropracter regularly who made it crack very satisfyingly. I thought it was perhaps just hormones loosening things up and that was making it sore, but the shooting pains were not good! I have found that if I move more deliberately it helps- getting up with my weight on both feet, for example. I had a bit of SPD last time and saw the antenatal physio who was very helpful. I think I will just give them a ring tomorrow and try and nip whatever it is in the bud.
Musical what you went through sounds horrid. I definitely want to avoid anything like that if at all possible.

Also, Scream I hope you are having a better day today. I was an absolute monster to DH on Friday. Feeling exhausted and a bit 'off' all the time is so wearing. I found that being pregnant, particularly last time, was always at the back of mind in a way that meant I never properly switched off. It sort of loomed over me, like waiting for an exam or something. plus friends and family treat you that little bit differently, which set me on edge. I got really fed up with being told I must be 'so excited', particularly because I was very anxious. (I sound like a right curmudgeonley grump!)

DH and I had a great trip away when I was about 26 weeks, doing stuff we knew wasn't going to be compatible with having small children and it gave us a good chance to relax and just be ourselves again. We also did little things, like going to the cinema or out for dinner. Any chance of doing something like that, just the two of you?

I must compliment you on the lovely new thread dream, jelly snakes are my favourite! I will contribute some Wheat Crunchies in assorted flavours.

fishcakefoxtrot · 13/11/2011 16:38

Ok, I have been nodding along in agreement at the 'nub' chat, thinking I would catch on eventually, but I have to admit to not having a clue what it is Grin Can someone please explain it to me?
Also, was there something about peeing on baking powder to predict the sex a while back or did I hallucinate that?

musicalmrs · 13/11/2011 17:13

dream, I meant that your bump was gorgeous, not huge! I am convinced I will be huge by the time May arrives (if I last that long!)...

Fish, a website explaining the nub is here - scroll to the bottom of the page. Having said that, DH and I differ on whether our LO's nub is male or female :P Haven't heard about the baking powder one though? Hope someone else can enlighten us... I'm sure your pain won't get as bad as mine - especially if you get it checked out early (took me about 6 months to be referred anywhere useful!).

I've been really good and had no junk food all day - or yesterday in fact! - but now really fancy some.. may have to raid the cupboards...

Wants3 · 13/11/2011 17:32

Thanks Too I now really fancy a bag of crisps! I think I have some sun bites lurking in the cupboard, I'll have to see if they hit the spot:)
I also vaguely remember something about baking powder fish. I will have to be patient but January seems such a long way off!

BartletForAmerica · 13/11/2011 17:47

Lovely new place to hang out in! I'm not into sweet stuff at the moment, but can hand some Smiley Faces with lots of salt and vinegar!

pommedechocolat · 13/11/2011 17:51

Place marking! Your bump looks lovely dream. I found a photo of me with dd at 32 weeks and I look the same at 24 weeks with this one! Eek!

scarletfingernail · 13/11/2011 18:13

Bartlet I'm with you on that. It's crisps and savouries all the way for me too. Twiglets and Cheddars mmm.

Lovely new thread dream. My slow cooker's on today too and I've also had a day packed with laundry and cleaning. I'm ready to veg out now but DS currently has me doing jigsaws on the floor with him while I'm Mumsnetting at the same time.

Dumbledore I'm going to get my doppler rigged up now, that's a fab idea. DS likes listening with the headphones but I think he'll love it through the speakers.

My boobs still have not grown Sad Still have C cups but have now swapped to wearing my old maternity bras from DS, so much more comfy.

Re maternity pillows. I shelled out £40 last time for one of those Dream Genie (sp?) things. Waste of money unless you are slim (unlike me). The space to lie in is quite narrow and I didn't get 1 full night out of it. I ended up spending £10 on a Mothercare support wedge which was fantastic and then had a normal pillow between my legs.

dreamfeeder · 13/11/2011 21:02

Yes, I too have become a crisp monster! And I am very impressed you have managed to not eat any junk food for 2 days musical, I can't seem to stop myself... Not that it stops me eating chocolate too, it just means I have to try and restrain myself from having chocolate and crisps and usually fail

I'm going to buy a couple more maternity tops, I can't keep away from the serephine website, plus have a discount voucher for jojomamanbebe and it seems rude not to.... Especially as DH is saying he doesn't think going back to work will be an option for me with 3 so young, so may as well make the most of having some money of my own before my notoriously stingy DH checks what I've been buying!!! Need a nice cardy, and some tops I think!

scralet, mine haven't grown, I was a B before DD and had gone down to a C before pg again.... still the same!

OP posts:
musicalmrs · 13/11/2011 21:43

Ah, I'm afraid I broke the 2 days dream, with a row of chocolate I just ate! Eek. The main reason for being good this weekend is that we're travelling a lot over the next couple of days, which I know never bodes well for a healthy diet, so I thought super-healthy (or, nearly, at least!) for the weekend plus a rubbish couple of days would equal four days of reasonable eating!

The support wedge sounds fantastic scarlet. Tempted by Mothercare's big pillow too, as it's only £22, and I expect it would make life a lot easier than my current habit of multiple pillows, which I normally have to retrieve at several points during the night...

Salt and vinegar's definitely my favourite thing at the moment Bartlet. Made even more so by the fact DH hates it. In fact, think I'll add a whole stash of salt and vinegar crisps to my next online order! DH keeps nicking all the other snacks I buy, so at least these ones will be safe...

dreamfeeder · 13/11/2011 22:16

lol musical, as I read this I am eating a packet of salt and vinegar crisps! (but I have been sick every last mouthful of my dinner- what a waste of cooking it and eating it, always annoys me a lot)

OP posts:
MeconiumHappens · 13/11/2011 22:33

ive bought a dreamgenii after reading all th good reviews, nothing to prop up as yet but any excuse to sshop!. scream i wonder if that would be one for you to consider as it has a little back roll designed to stop you rolling onto your back, might be worth a look.

Have just found out my best friend is pregnant :) :) :) A bit of a surprise for all concerned but still very exciting to have a bump buddy :)

scarletfingernail · 13/11/2011 22:35

Ah that's good news Meconium. Is that your midwife friend?

Wants3 · 13/11/2011 22:41

Off to bed now for me. I currently am using a slightly flatter pillow in bed with me. I tuck it under me abit and sometimes put it in-between my legs. I also have it behind my back when I turn over. I read somewhere that lying on your left side is best for baby but this is not my usual side so I am trying to get used to it now before bump gets too big!
Scan at 2.20 tomorrow so I will update as soon as I get home ( DH is taking me shopping afterwards if all goes well!)
