Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

MeconiumHappens · 14/11/2011 17:00

ooh so exciting!!!

scarletfingernail · 14/11/2011 17:09

I couldn't manage to go to the toilet again but I have been laying on the bed for a couple of hours (Manage to convince DS it was a good idea, had a CBeebies fest) and it does feel like it's gone off.

I am a bit worried still though, I've been peeing a lot more than usual today so I might take a wee sample to be checked out in the morning as I've read that back pain can be linked to kidney infections. Hopefully it's nothing but I'd hate to ignore anything which shouldn't be ignored. I'll see how I go this evening...

Was just wondering (and hoping) that maybe it's more likely I overdid it this morning lifting DS in and out of the shopping trolley while food shopping and pushing the heavy shopping trolley round the supermarket?

Sounds like it could be something Meconium and hopefully you too Biscuits.

Biscuitsandtea · 14/11/2011 17:11

Could well be something like overdoing it Scarlet - it makes you ache on all funny places.

Why don't you do a wee sample first thing anyway and then give the mws a call when they open? They might be able to fit you in just to check everything out for you?

Glad its gone off a bit though.

Wants3 · 14/11/2011 17:55

Hello everyone, scan news. One very wriggly bean in there! :) Nuchal measurement low and if I don't hear anything by Friday then the blood test is ok too. I will be joining biscuits in the no early movements club as sonographer said it was anterior placenta. She also moved my dates from 12+6 to 13+4 so my due date is now 17th May,
No baby shopping today, I just picked up my 2 nd bounty pack.got my tiny pot of sudecreme so I'm happy!

dreamfeeder · 14/11/2011 18:07

Oh, lovely wants!!!! biscuits, I'm fairly sure the kicking kicked off bout 21 weeks in ernest last time, not long, then there's something else to stress about! I still think I'm only really feeling one twin move today, think its twin 2...

scarlet, I hope its just one of the many unexplained pg pains. No harm in having a wee sample dipped though.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 14/11/2011 18:37

Ah dream well that would be v similar as I'm 21 weeks tomorrow!

Do you think you're only feeling one twin move then? Don't be afraid to go and get yourself checked out for things like that will you? There is all this publicity about the count the kicks campaign but it must be so hard to correctly identify which of eight limbs are poking you so I am sure they would be even more understanding about checking people carrying twins.

I've never read anything on MN where someone has been in to be checked and they've said 'you shouldn't have bothered'. I've only ever seen them say that they would always rather check someone over to be on the safe side, so I would say if in any doubt, get yourself checked out.

And I don't mean that to sound doomish just because of you saying once you've mainly felt twin 2 - I just mean it as something to bear in mind going forward!

Biscuitsandtea · 14/11/2011 18:38

And I meant to say Yay for your scan news Wants :)

Hope you're still doing OK Scarlet xx

Thinking of you and brooking hard for tomorrow Bartlet xx

Wants3 · 14/11/2011 19:16

I didn't realise how much I was worrying until I saw the picture appear on the screen with a heartbeat and I felt myself relax. Now I am just waiting for Friday to come and go with no phone call!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 14/11/2011 19:19

Sooooo, 20 week scan was today and Bean might have something wrong with her right kidney. Sad It is enlarged and has 3 cysts in it. This may turn out to be something that rights itself on its own before the next scan in 4 weeks, or I may have to be referred to the fetal medicine unit in Edinburgh (again) if it hasn't. There isn't anything that can be done about it until she's born, anyway. Why can't I have a nice uncomplicated pregnancy and a perfectly healthy baby?

Yay for good scan, Wants!

musicalmrs · 14/11/2011 19:23

Congratulations on a fab scan Wants! We're getting quite close date wise - I'm now the 13th May, 14w+1 today. I didn't realise how much I was worrying either until I'd had my scan...

Scarlet, if you're worrying it definitely won't hurt to give the MW a call.

Meconium, how exciting! :D

My letter came through today from the blood test - was a bit worried when the envelope came through the day as they told us we'd hear in two weeks if there wasn't a problem and one if there was - and today was one week! However, the risk factor was 1 in around 8000, so all's good.

Survived the drive 'up North', and am now in a lovely hotel with free internet - hurrah!

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Bartlet.

Biscuitsandtea · 14/11/2011 19:34

oh Too - you're having such a rough time of it - I want to rush up there and give you a great big cuddle :-(

I do hope that it all rights itself before the next scan in any event. Will they just look again in 4 weeks and then if it is still there refer you to the fetal medicine unit?

Hope you and DH can have a nice quiet evening together and just snuggle up.

Could this be something that would have given rise to your higher combined screening thingamyjig result? Or was that just 'one of those things'?

Sending you lots and lots of hugs and Thanks xxx

dreamfeeder · 14/11/2011 19:39

oh, too, what a shame. I was misdiagnosed at 20 week scan with DD if that's any consolation, nothing wrong with her, so I wouldn't worry too much until your next scan, and could it be nothing major?? I hope the scan in 4 weeks is ok, will brook No Argument about that for you. At least there is a lovely little girl, wriggling away, waiting to meet you soon!

biscuits, I did feel both, I think, last night, due to movements being almost simulataneous in different areas, it's just twin 1's seemed quieter today. I will have a good counting session later and see if I can reassure myself. The twin mums on the other thread have said they often couldn't tell at all past 24 weeks once they were bigger, and could roll so all limbs facing the same side and kick quite hard, but so nothign felt where you're expecting to feel one. One, whose little girls are about 6 weeks now, said she went in twice with reduced foetal movements when twin two had got almost behind the other but was fine! She said as soon as she was lying on the scan bed it moved again but she'd been panicking. So I think it will be an ongoing issue...

I hope tomorrow has some positives bartlet, and you get to see your baby again which is lovely! Hope you're feeling a bit better too. Surely time for this vomming to stop for us all?!

Right, got to go, DD not settling...as per usual now....

OP posts:
TooImmature2BDumbledore · 14/11/2011 20:15

That's a good point about the nuchal test, Biscuits - I didn't think of that. Will have to wait until 8 Dec to see consultant, but will ask then. Yes, they said that all they could do at this point was wait and see what happens. They did say that everything else was normal, and that Bean is peeing properly (the liquor volume was normal), and that in most cases it will resolve itself on its own. I suppose if the worst comes to the worst then people live with one kidney all the time...assuming that the left kidney stays okay. Dream, I hope it is a misdiagnosis too! She is wriggling lots, which has to be a good sign.

Dream, how do you tell which baby is kicking? Is it possible they could both be kicking the same side? But yes, if you are worried then you should definitely go and be checked out rather than stress on your own.

dreamfeeder · 14/11/2011 20:31

Absolutely, could well both be facing same way and kicking and wriggling towards same side. I think it's very hard to tell Too. If I think both are moving it's because I can feel one, and then simulataneously feel movement far enough away that I think it couldn't possibly be the same baby, IYKWIM. I think that even if that baby was stretched out fully, it wouldn't be able to reach over there at the same time as kicking down here kind of thing. I think lower down movements more to the right are Twin 1, who is nearer my cervix and a bit lower. I think higher, more left-sided movements are Twin 2. Blooming hard though, and no proof I'm right unless I was being scanned, and not looking and said 'twin 1', twin 2' etc and found out if I can tell that way! As that won't happen I think there will always be uncertainty. Someone 25 weeks on the twins thread has just confirmed she can't tell at all if one or both are moving, so seems I'm stuck with never really knowing and worrying...

I am going to brook like mad for your little bean too, and bartlets, and both of mine!!! My best friends boyfriend has 2 malformed kidneys, you couldn't tell and he has no treatment regularly just can't eat bananas and a couplf of other high potassium things. I am going to hope even if your little girl has a kidney problem it won't affect her too much...

dreamfeeder · 14/11/2011 21:05

lol too, bit pre-emptive, as yours are fine and it doesn't go directly to your bean!!!! I just mean he has a serious biateral congenital kidney condition, is likely to need a bilateral transplant at some stage as they won't be able to cope forever as both kidneys so small and inefficient (maybe late 50's, particlarly as he has now chosen not to go for any monitoring/follow up with his renal consultant) but isn't unwell, doesn't suffer any ill effects my friend or he can see,and I would never have known if my friend hadn't told us. He doesn't stick to the other advice like not drinking alcohol- in fact, they live in the pub, he's the licensee!!! in fact, it's totally irrelevant to you, i was trying to be reassuring, in a wierd way... Hmm. Best ignore me!!

OP posts:
TooImmature2BDumbledore · 14/11/2011 21:41

It's ok, Dream, it was reassuring! It is calming to hear of people who live with kidney problems without noticeable impact - stuff like dialysis was racing through my head and freaking me out. What foods are good for kidneys, then? Steak and kidney pud? Grin Think kidneys may be off menu, like liver - is that right?

scarletfingernail · 14/11/2011 21:58

Dumbledore I'm sorry to hear you've had another complication. I don't know anything about kidneys (apart from what they're for) so haven't got any useful information for you. But I'm brooking for you and your bean.

Bartlet I hope your appointment tomorrow goes as well as it can and you get all the information and support you need. Brooking for you too.

Biscuits thanks for asking about me. I'm actually feeling ok now so feeling a bit Blush about my earlier panic. That said, I can't shake off this anxiety at the moment and I am weeing a lot more than normal so I'll see how I am in the morning.

dreamfeeder · 14/11/2011 22:11

I'll brook for you too scarlet, have a nice pee in a tub tomorrow, you know how much the midwives love a good wee sample!!!!

I have gone instantly from the runs to constipation...tmi, sorry, and am being plagued by loads of bleeding... Like, dripping into toilet bowl every time, soaked loo paper very painful. Like after my third degree tear last time. Makes me think section in memory of the recovery from that, LOL are you suffering biscuits, my fellow big-tear brooker? Is this normal ish?!?

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 14/11/2011 22:31

Scarlet glad you're feeling a bit better this evening. But don't be Blush and do perhaps get someone to check a wee sample tomorrow?

Dream I've had a few painful poos, with a bit of blood since being pg, but yours sounds jolly painful. I know what you mean though as it was a lot like that while i was healing! At the risk of just referring everyone to their doctors I think it might be worth getting checked to check everything is as it should be. And they might be able to give you something to help with the constipation so it isn't as painful.

When I was pg with DS I had constipation and found lots of bran flakes and prune juice helped. But I didn't have the delights of a third degree tear at that time. And don't forget yours is only a year old, mine is 3!!

fishcakefoxtrot · 14/11/2011 22:55

Too I am so sorry to hear you have something else to worry about but it is good to hear that everything else looked normal. Hopefully it is just a blip that will resolve itself and that you will get some useful information from the consultant!

Wants lovely to hear that your scan went well. I am jealous of your mini sudocreme though. I haven't had any Bounty packs yet!

Ninja- I saw a midwife at 11 weeks this time at a separate appointment to the scan/booking in appointment. Last time I didn't see anyone until the 12 week scan. I am in the same health board region but booked into a different hospital to start with last time so perhaps it just depends on how they organise things in your area.

Bartlet will be thinking of you tomorrow.

I am not really feeling regular movement and I think I am 18 weeks now (although I got put forward by almost a week at the scan, which I am sure is not right). THere was no mention of an anterior placenta at 12 weeks and I have felt the odd thing but nothing regular. Definitely nothing I could count. Probably a daft question given that i am still not that far along, but should I worry? I think I started to feel movement about this time last time, although nothing I was sure about until after the scan.

I have my 20 week scan next week (except I will be 19 weeks) and I am beginning to worry that I have imagined the whole thing ...

fishcakefoxtrot · 14/11/2011 22:58

Scarlet glad you are feeling better. I have been having all manner of back niggles and pains the last few days. I do wonder if the hormones + carting toddlers is just putting things under extra strain. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/11/2011 06:44

fishcake - no one mentioned anterior placenta at my 12 week scan either, but there it is, right in poor little bean's face Confused so it still could be for you? Also I read a thread on here which had lots of people saying that in fact they didn't feel anything any earlier the second time around, and they hadn't had anterior placentas in many cases.

Bartlet - thinking of you today xx

Imps7 · 15/11/2011 07:27

Right there with you today Bartlet.

x

musicalmrs · 15/11/2011 08:05

Ah, dream, I'm fellow companion in runs to constipation - in fact I alternate between the two. Such fun. The bleeding sounds horrendous though :( And if you're worried about one of the twins' movements you should definitely go and get it checked out - we all have worrysome things and have to go see a mw, and as you're carrying two it makes sense that you are allowed to have at least double the wobbles and reassurances! :)

Too, brooking no argument for you that the cysts and potential kidney problem turn out to be nothing! And as you say, even if it doesn't function at its full potential, plenty of people operate on just one -my aunt (who I'm seeing today) for one!

Thought I felt some flutters yesterday after a sugary drink, while stuck in the car for hours. There was nothing else I could attribute them to, but still not entirely convinced...

Thinking of you today Bartlet- hope the consultation goes well.
