Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Biscuitsandtea · 15/11/2011 18:21

Gosh Hawthers - the first brooking baby is imminent!!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 15/11/2011 18:24

Ooh I meant to say welcome Tilder too!

And Scream I think I love your consultant too!! And yay for taking on the mw too. U love it.

And thank goodness she caught on about the fibroids too!

Glad it was such a successful appt! And hope you don't have to have that mw again!

Biscuitsandtea · 15/11/2011 18:26

Oooh, just scanning the stats list and I see you're in my neck of the woods Jazzy Grin

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/11/2011 19:36

Yay for such a good consultant, Scream! Glad you got your notes sorted out. I have an outstanding complaint against the RIE because the Triage MW wrote in her notes that she had listened to DD1's heartbeat when she hadn't even tried. She went so far as to write down a value. Less than 15 minutes later, in the labour ward, they tried to find the heartbeat and couldn't. This was 8 months ago and the hospital have stalled and dragged their feet all along the way and it still hasn't been resolved. I can't believe your MW kicked up such a fuss about the depression but failed to mention the potentially dangerous fibroids!

Jazzy, yay for the teeny tiny heartbeat!

Hawthers, wow, 34+6! Amazing. Have you got names all picked out? You're going to need them soon!

Tilder, hello - welcome and congratulations!

Bartlet, hope you're okay and things went as well as possible.

Have forgotten lots in the 3 pages since yesterday - hope I haven't missed anyone.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/11/2011 19:37

Oh yes, I meant to say good luck to Pomme's DH!

NinjaChipmunk · 15/11/2011 19:44

are things like lockets okay when your pregnant? I have a very annoying cough and am not sure what to take...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 15/11/2011 19:52

Hi Ninja I had a really sore throat a couple of weeks ago and I looked into strepsils (those are the brand I usually have) and found out those are a no-go because of the active medical ingredient they have in them. I don't think there's a definite proven problem with strepsils, I think it's just one of those things that hasn't been tested on pregnant women. I settled on Halls Soothers in the end because those are literally just sugary sweets, with no active medical ingredients. Not sure about lockets I'm afraid, it's worth checking the packet for active ingredients.

tilder · 15/11/2011 20:06

Hi all - thanks for the welcome. Talking about things more will definitely help with the denial and get me a bit more focused.

Congrats on being so far along Hawthers - sounds like you are expecting a small baby? Our first was small but healthy, just fed very frequently. Means we do get extra scans though (have another on Monday).

Will check out the stats thread and add myself onto it.

MeconiumHappens · 15/11/2011 20:40

Hooray Jazzy :)

MeconiumHappens · 15/11/2011 20:42

Oh and have decided my weird buzzing feeling is baby. Whipped the doppler out whilst was buzzing and can hear lots of clunking about in there. Flutters/bubbles my arse, my baby vibrates!

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 15/11/2011 20:52

Grin at Meconium. Vibrating baby! I think it feels like little dunts, and if I'm in the car or somewhere it is hard to tell what's baby and what's just the car bouncing.

Eek, I didn't know Strepsils were off the menu! Have had a Locket a few weeks ago - hopefully they aren't too bad. I just assumed they were so innocuous that they didn't count!

dreamfeeder · 15/11/2011 20:59

I am tired and grumpy so take it with a pinch of salt but midwives are shit scream!!!!

Bearing in mind they'll prescribe heavy duty anti emetics, unlicensed in pg, to pg women which we take for months I think a strepsil will be fine too, just switch to halls soothers now :-)

Hours to get that baby to sleep again tonight... Ended up falling asleep in Dh's lap on nursing chair in her room (but def not her cot...)

Hi tilder ds1 had iugr basically the placenta was knackered and he stopped growing. He was 2lb at 31+4 and had to be whipped out (she says flippantly). He spent 4 months in the help hole nicu. Anyway this bean is being monitored closely but so far so good - the official verdict will be given tomorrow!

NinjaChipmunk · 15/11/2011 21:17

I will be brooking for a good weight for you tomorrow hawthers

After googling I have decided lockets are harmless. Which is good as i think there is a pack in the back of the medicine cabinet which I shall grab tomorrow. My neck aches, I slept badly last night and having got a cough and had my flu jab I've been feeling sorry for myself today. And tonight ds has decided he no longer want to wear pull ups at night. I can sense it may be a long one.

I can't remember any terrible midwife incidents but maybe I never re-read my notes. I will certainly be sure to do it this time though.

tilder · 15/11/2011 21:18

Fingers crossed hawthers. Everything was small for our first (placenta, baby and low fluid) but never any reason for it. Have no idea if knackered placenta happens in subsequent pg so hope all OK (our second and fingers crossed so far this one are or were 'normal' in size). The estimates of weight are not too accurate though - we were told 4lb plus/minus 2lb, which is a fair error margin.

dreamfeeder how old is your baby? Not easy thinking of a new baby when an existing one isn't sleeping great - its a big worry of mine. I know how I am without much sleep and given how badly our youngest sleeps am worried I will get no sleep at all once the baby arrives. Does she normally go to sleep in the cot?

MeconiumHappens · 15/11/2011 21:38

I have a sore throat akin to swallowing razor blades and have decided the only safe option is ice cream/ice lollies, preferably ben & jerrys for its medicinal qualities. Nom nom.

Scowling very silently at the midwife bashing, some midwives are shit, like some of every professsion are shit but it would be very unfair to generalise this to the mass majority who are not.

Welcome to the thread tilders :)

Hoping bartlet has had a positive day brooking no argument, brooking no argument, brooking no argument

dreamfeeder · 15/11/2011 21:40

Sigh tilder, she used to... Followed her routine for months, she used to lie quietly til she went to sleep. Not any more, but its only been 5 weeks (feels like forever) and she's been ill. Still coughing now. She's nearly 14 months 1 week. I can't imagine trying to look after twins and persuade her majesty to go to sleep without major stress, so I'm hoping it resolves by March/April!!!!! Tho I'm not convinced I'll get any sleep anyway with two- I bet they wake at different times for feeds etc et ....Thinking about it when i feel knackered anyway is not a recipe for positivity though, and I am v excited about twins. I'll hope your LO is growing enormously as we speak Smile

meconium, I do know that, I fully agree. I happen to have met my fair share of rubbish ones, but some wonderful ones to. The one I saw at the drop-in was so different to mine it was a real eye-opener. I'm just tired!!! And very miffed I've got incorrect information on my notes that's potentially important, like that there's a query whether the twins' placentas have fused...

dreamfeeder · 15/11/2011 21:45

P.s Ben and berries is indeed medicinal :-)

NinjaChipmunk · 15/11/2011 21:45

alas meconium I have no icecream in the house Shock but i like your thinking and so have added it to my shopping list tomorrow.

BartletForAmerica · 15/11/2011 21:49

A final hello from me, I think.

The scan today showed that the baby has developed hydrops fetalis. This will be fatal and the baby is likely to die within the next 8 weeks, probably sooner rather than later. I will be scanned regularly so this can be picked up.

Thank you so much for the Brooking No Argument through the Conception thread and now here. For a bunch of random women and odd names on the internet, you have been such a wonderful support. I have so enjoyed being part of it and will spy regularly because I'll want to know names and weights in due course, but I'll bow out now Brooking No Argument for totally boring and uneventful pregnancies for the rest of you!

Thanks to be shared out among you all.

fishcakefoxtrot · 15/11/2011 21:51

Hello tilder and congratulations! I had a small baby too, last time, so am going to be getting extra scans. I am not as far along as you (about 18 weeks) so nothing extra has started yet.
Hawthers glad to hear you are growing such a whopper!

Glad you had such a good scan, Jazzy!

Hope you feel better soon, Ninja.

Bartlet I hope everything went as well as it could.

My back is continuing to grumble. I am going to phone the antenatal physio tomorrow as I think I can self refer. I hope they don't think I am a big whinger but surely it is better to try and do something early on than wait until later in the pregnancy when it will be potentially be even worse.

I have a question for those of you who are still in work- have you found any smart day dresses that would look ok with a smallish bump? I have a date for my viva and I need something to wear...

fishcakefoxtrot · 15/11/2011 21:56

Oh Bartlet I'm so, so sorry to hear that.
I didn't see your post before I posted mine- am really sorry for the cross post. Big hugs to you and your dh x

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 15/11/2011 21:57

Bartlet I'm so very sorry to hear your news. I have nothing helpful to contribute in such a sad situation, I can only say that I'll be thinking of you and your family. I hope you can find peace. I'm so incredibly sorry that this has happened. Sending hugs and comfort your way.

ScrambledSmegs · 15/11/2011 22:01

Oh Bartlet. I'm so very sorry to hear that. Thinking of you and your family.

Take care of yourself. x
