I have my revenge already. OH has woken up with stinky cold. Feeling very sorry for himself but has to go take his parents to a function - you wouldn't believe how hard done by he is.

Mind you, bloke with stinky cold = more running around and less sleep for me Sad

fishandlilacs · 27/11/2011 10:00

Oh addicted hugs. I'm sorry your feeling so crappy, but on the other hand I'm selfishly relieved it's not just me who has that sort of anti pregnant rants. Sounds like the 30 week wall i hit a month ago. I hit it again last week and probably will again before my time is up. I sympathise whole heartedly.

ghosteditor · 27/11/2011 10:44

Sorry to hear about the sleepless nights: at the moment that's the worst thing I'm suffering, so I know I shouldn't complain, but I definitely think it affects you all day then, so it's pretty unpleasant! Especially if your DH is the culprit; not very sympathetic Hmm

Can you find time for a nap do you think?

addictediam · 27/11/2011 10:55

Dd woke up just as i was getting back to sleep and decided she wanted to play not sleep. Dh turned to me and said as you're already awake anyway... so I did have my rant at him! I was still up with her till 4 but at least he knew how i felt! He's been lovely this morning tho, got up with her at 7 and has taken her out so i can sleep. I've almost forgiven him, but I'm sure if I hold a grudge till then end of the day I can get more out of this! :o

Sorry to hear of all the others having bad night sleep too.

shonnomanom · 27/11/2011 11:00

So sorry to hear of the rough night 'compliments' of baby daddies. Hope you both get a chance for revenge and rest today x

We've had the high winds and heavy rain for quite a few days now so getting used to the noise.

Baby keeps trying to stretch out my belly today. It's so uncomfortable.
Got some furniture rearranging to do today in order to get the cot out if the livingroom.

Hope everyone has a good relaxing day x

Eek!!! We're all getting rather close now! I'm 35 weeks today and realised that I'm carrying 5-6lbs of baby! I'm a first timer and crapping myself!! Shock

I've now packed my bags (except for toiletries) and the nursery is 'ready' (except for bedding that needs washing and a light change).

I realised last night that I have no idea how to assemble the Silver Cross or put the car seat in the car. I asked DH - he went VERY quiet?!?!

I have planning to do for next week - my last 'lot' until September!!! :), ironing and hoovering. Can't be arsed to do any of it! May do some sofa surfing instead!

shonnomanom · 27/11/2011 11:19

How's this for scary?!
My phone app today says I'm 35weeks pregnant with 35 DAYS to due date!

Can I ask for some advice? I'm using a friend's Silver Cross Sleepover pram to begin with, and the pram bit helpfully detaches from the chassis and clips to a beautiful wooden frame to become a moses basket. So the pram and mattress etc are second hand.

We're planning on using the pram bit as a Moses basket downstairs in the daytime (though I'm also planning on having the baby in a sling quite a lot). The conventional wisdom seems to be that I should buy a new mattress for anywhere that the baby is sleeping, but I can't find a replacement mattress anywhere from Silver Cross (the item ref is SX501). I have however found a non-silver cross mattress that I can order to the exact size, and it doesn't mattter that this would invalidate the warranty because as a borrowed pram we don't have a warranty anyway.

Do I really need a new mattress? This is definitely not for night time sleeping and I would be around the whole time the baby was downstairs in the moses basket bit, or in the pram. I know the mattress recommendations are because of cot death risk factors, but I can't decide whether this is a real risk given the planned use. The mattress has a washable cover, if that helps, and of course the baby won't be face down or anything. Help please! am fretting endlessly about this...

shonnomanom · 27/11/2011 13:16

I would say yes, get a new mattress ghost. But I'm a bit particular about these kinda things

Brownwolf · 27/11/2011 13:18

sho that is ver scary indeed! I was 34 weeks yesterday so can't be far behind you! eeek!

I am not worried so much about the physical pain of labour although am sure it will be difficult, I am more worried about feeling scared and out of control. I have suffered anxiety and panic attacks in the past and am freaking myself out worrying about what if I have a panic attack when i go into labour, I know this is unhelpful and is making me feel anxious and making the outcome I fear more likely, anyone got any tips?

Is everyone else just feeling exhausted? I went shopping yesterday, when got home could hardly move and just laid on sofa til bedtime and then didn't get up til midday today, and starting to feel more human but still fairly shattered, is this just what week 34 is like?

addicted sounds like you had a rubbish night, is so horrible to be woken up, especially when you know how hard it is to get to sleep in the first place.

addictediam · 27/11/2011 13:28

brownwolf, the best tips i have is to visit the unit where you will give birth (although not every one can) stay calm and keep breathing really obvious i know! but when you feel yourself getting panicky see if you can work out why, talk to the mw and your dp. The mw have also delt withit all before, I had a very small panic attack when in labour with dd and the mw stopped what she was doing, came to the side of the bed (even tho my mum and dh were there) and 'talked me down'. she then asked what i was worried about, how i felt i could be in more control etc etc she also instructed dh on what to do and how to make me more comfortable. so if you get a nice mw it will all be ok.

dh is still out with dd...i'm actually feeling quite sorry for him, dd can be quite a handfull at the moment, especially for him!

Mum2be79 · 27/11/2011 13:55

sho that is very scary indeed. It puts a whole new perspective on it.

ghost sorry, can't help with that one. Will an ordinary moses basket mattress not fit? I'm using the linear classic freeway (I don't think it has the 'sleepover' option although the pushchair is also a pram bit too. Confused

brownwolf me too - feeling apprehensive about giving birth. Pain scares me but so does losing control and feeling scared. Pain does that to me.

I have my first 'Birth Preparation and Parenting Class' on Wednesday night at my local Children's Centre so hopefully I'll be more clued up. I've read up on loads but it still doesn't fully prepare you.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 27/11/2011 15:23

ghost - get one. It's not that much money (is it?) and it's one of those things they do say to get new with each baby. I kind of thought to myself about how I'd feel if I hadn't bought a new mattress and something happened to bubba... doesn't bear thinking about.

I also had a shit night going hot and cold complete with dragging pains in my lower belly that have carried on today. Dh was in 2 minds about going off flying as he was worried I was going into premature labour. I'm not. I just feel shit. I'm unwashed and in my night things still and the flat looks like a shit tip. I really cba to do anything about it today.

addictediam · 27/11/2011 15:25

Sorry ghost I totally missed your post! Changing matress guidrlines are also because of bugs etc in the mattress. How old is it? How long ago was it used? I would say change it but then I haven't changed mattresses between babies or when my mum gave me her Moses basket (it was used for dbro, dneice, dsis then dd) or crib that was used for dsis, dd and now bump.

ghosteditor · 27/11/2011 16:48

cakes you're probably right; they're not expensive. Pathetically, it's just that there are loads of things to decide (hinged, ventilated, what sort of cover, extra sheets etc) and I seem to be incapable of making that many choices today. Sorry to hear that you're not feeling great and hope the dragging pains ease off soon.

addicted the mattress looks pristine and was only used for a few months in the pram and as a moses basket (I think my friend's baby used it at night at first, though). It's the potential bacteria that can be implicated in SIDS, I think, but the danger is mostly from rebreathing bacteria which doesn't really happen with babies who sleep face up. At least as I understand it, anyway. But of course, just because it looks clean doesn't mean it really is!

DH has finally found some time to mow the lawn and paint the cupboard he built in the baby's room as well as a few other bits of DIY, so it's been a good day here (I feel mean because he flew to the middle east at 5am on Monday and didn't get back until late Weds, then worked really hard Thurs & Fri at the squadron, and was then on call from Sat to Sun morning, and now I've made him do DIY all day - next week won't be any easier plus we have a funeral to go to on Thurs)

And I've packed my hospital bag - well, mostly, anyway, and all the essentials - and done some housework and made a ginger cake which will be ready soon, so all in all it's been a good day in our household...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 27/11/2011 16:55

We just bought a £15 mattress from John Lewis for the crib. It's not terribly bungy, but

Oh yes - does anyone want me to copy/paste the hospital bag list my hypno teacher sent me? It seems like I covered most of the bases, but it's a useful reference point.

fishandlilacs · 27/11/2011 16:55

Brownwolf and Mum2b i'm losing confidence in my self-I was really happy to go for vbac but i'm not so sure now. Really scared if i'm honest but dealing with it by pretending i'm not.

Just found out the lovely mychoice 3 pushchair/pram travel system has a bloody shoulder strap missing. Can't seem to find if they sell spares anywhere either. :( after driving all that way yesterday to get the car seat and freecycling the other pram we may end up with something we cant use-why didn't I notice before!

Had my inlaws here today-lovely stress free visit, the house was cleaned beautifully by DH yesterday and they brought dinner down with them. How nice! Got to coo over baby stuff with Granny which was lovely too.

ghost Our main cot mattress is 2nd hand from someone on here. I'm afraid money has totally dictated my choice on this issue. I am happy to take the risk especially as ther cot matress is in as new condition with a washable cover Apparently the baby only slept on it a week in her whole life as they ended up co -sleeping until 2 when she went into a bed in her own room and it's a very expensive sprung John lewis jobby which is better than the strip of foam i was going to buy from ikea.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 27/11/2011 16:58

fish - Try a freedom from fear hypno MP3??? I bought this yesterday and have yet to use it, but if it's as good as it was in person it'll be a very effective exercise.

It's natural to have a little wobble and you still have the option of an ELCS, so don't put yourself under pressure, OK? xx

addictediam · 27/11/2011 17:15

Fish have you tried going to mothercare and asking? Sometimes they will order parts. Iirc they dont charge much either. Worth a shot?

fishandlilacs · 27/11/2011 17:38

addicted good idea-I'm sure they could probably pinch one off another one and send it back for a manufacturers return. We used to do things like that when I worked at M&S all the time.

Fryn · 27/11/2011 19:56

hello everyone,

Well, back from a lovely holiday, although far too much walking for my liking (but given the pizza/icecream excesses, probably necessary!) I was like an old lady waddling slowly round Pompeii. Also got back to one dead hamster and one missing (subsequently found in a bucket in the pantry!) Our poor neighbours who were hamster sitting - they felt so bad about the missing one I haven't had the heart to tell them that a different one shuffled off this mortal coil!

I've tried catching up, but you lot chat too much, so just wanted to check in really! And I can't believe some of you are still having/trying not to have sex! Poor DH has only had his wicked way twice since I conceived! Poor sod - luckily he's not interested since he's felt the baby moving. Hurrah!

brown have you tried yoga? I found the breathing they teach really helped me keep calm last time.

mum2be the car seats really aren't as complicated as they seem, but do practise in advance. One friend almost ended up divorcing in the hospital car park after failing to have a practice run!

Growth scan tomorrow - I know I've put weight on, I just hope G2 has!

Laters, ladies.

fishandlilacs · 27/11/2011 21:02

welcome back, fryn sorry about your hammies tho :|( I lovedp ompeii-so cool with those cats eyes and stuff, would not liked to have done it in a heavily preg state

Brownwolf · 27/11/2011 21:16

hi everyone thanks for advice, I haven't been doing my yoga recently as have been feeling really tired, but think will give it a go again because I was calmer I thnk when I was doing it.

Seems like a few of us are feeling scared and apprehensive, to be expected I suppose, but glad we can support and hand hold on here.

Nanny01 · 28/11/2011 09:12

Things were going well till my uncle passed away now mum can't pick the kids up and I will some how sort things out so ds and I can still take him for his assessment at one of the new schools.

I have one black dress but no sensible shoes as only have a pair of 6 inch heels to wear with it9 um I think not). Who was it on here who went to a funeral recently so I can pick their brains.

fishandlilacs · 28/11/2011 09:16

I'm sorry to hear about your uncle Nanny :(.
