Fish me and dd aren't doing much today if you fancied getting out of the house and seeing a friendly face (although I can't promise dd and I are all that friendly! :o)

Fb message me if you want

redheadbedhead · 25/11/2011 10:54

yummy cakes set up a secret fb page for us all a few weeks ago and I think she's the admin so message her Smile

shonnomanom · 25/11/2011 10:59

Excellent frame of mind cakes
I LOVE being pregnant, feeling the baby moving about and knowing that im doing something amazing. Last time I really missed not having that feeling after dd was born.
Things I will not miss after this pregnancy: Crutches, tubagrips, bump bands, constant pelvic discomfort and hitting my bump off everything.
I dont think its too healthy to go into the whole birthing process(or anything for that matter) in a negative frame of mind. At the end of the day the baby has to come out, and that is when the fun really starts Smile. This birth for me is a bit scarier than last time as there is more 'issues' involved but once things have happened I can swap the crutches for the pram and we can start the next chapter of our life as a family of 4. Arrgghh a family of 4!! Smile

Im having a brain melt down with all the different sizes and types of mattresses there are out there.

Time to step away from the laptop as need to swim up to the nursery to collect dd. Shower. quick lunch. wake up dp. drop dd at mums and get to the hospital for 130 to see my huge kungfu panda on the monitor! Good times x

Chin up girlies! Grin

Aw ty addicted sadly I'm at work in droitwich in 2 hours. Although that would have been really nice.

Your messages have helped a lot thank you. Just a wobble, old fears rearing up. It happens from time to time, all part of the process of latent birth trauma abd being a pregnant hormonal lady.

I'm ok now, mum phoned me back and I was able to talk to her. She wasn't much help but just talking about other stuff helped.

My bra clasps have just arrived from china. If anyone is planning a convert it yourself bra project let me know because theres 3 sets of 6 in the package. I have 18 of them plus the 2 packs my mum bougth from JLewis the other day. I only need 3 of them!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/11/2011 12:28

ooh - all you ladies wanting pjs. I've gone for easy-access nighties!

redheadbedhead · 25/11/2011 12:31

yes i do have to go there green but not today I'm afraid, got friends coming over in a minute! going to have to go on tuesday i think, if anyone fancies queuing with me then!!

redheadbedhead · 25/11/2011 12:32

cakes I've gone for both nighties and pjs because I'm greedy but also rational!!

addictediam · 25/11/2011 12:41

Tesco have some long sleeve nighties for £6 that unbutton to just past the bust, they are alittle on the short side so I bought some of their 'luxury' joggers. They are so comfortable I'm yet to see how they will wash but they were only £8 so will probably get some more to wear during the last few weeks and after the baby is born.

miamama09 · 25/11/2011 12:54

from my experience with having DD - the hospital was boiling hot! heating was always on! so short sleeved nighties were the way forward, with a dressing gown for when I was able to get up and walk about. Would have been sweating in long sleeves or pjs.
Got front buttoning ones from Primark last time, and same again this time. Soo not sexy, more granny-ish, but will be binned afterwards anyway.

ghosteditor · 25/11/2011 12:59

I'm struggling on the nightwear front too! I have a primark aversion; not sure I can face going in, but likewise don't want to spend lots on something that may get trashed. Supermarkets may well be the answer but sadly we don't have an especially accessible Tesco.

Am just waiting for my early 34 week appt now - feeling a bit stressed as the BH haven't gone away and I'm into the fourth day now. Hopefully she cam reassure me, but am definitely relieved to be getting checked out. I feel like such a worrier!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/11/2011 13:14

ghost - my sister is out shopping today - I can ask her to pick up some enormous Primark nighties for you if you want and I'll get her to pass them on to my mum for when I see her next...?

Complicated, I know, but the Oxford Primark is small and horrid.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/11/2011 13:47

Hrm. News report talking about higher risks to first time mums having a homebirth. The cynical, Mumsnetty part of me wonders if this is because it's cheaper for them if we're all herded into a hospital so they need to pay fewer Midwifes. Hmm

redheadbedhead · 25/11/2011 13:56

it's less than 1% extra risk. I'm not even going to think about it, it's not even worth it. only 4 women in 100 have home births, and out of those, only 1 in 4 is a first time mum. The risk of a problem is 9 in a 1000. It's tiny. And it's still 3 in a 1000 in hospital, except then you have to hang around until they discharge you, can't eat and drink when you want, can't have your husband there overnight, have an increased risk of intervention and therefore ceasarean, have an increased risk of infection, blah blah blah. I'm so over people saying home birth isn't safe, they can all kiss my bump!!!

addictediam · 25/11/2011 13:58

It's a stupid amount like 1% higher Hmm and i also wonder if its because 1st time mums have never done it before and if it goes wrong they arent alowed a hb again where as 2nd timers if it was all ok at hospital its likley to be all ok at home. iygwim

ghosteditor · 25/11/2011 14:23

Thanks cakes but that's ok, I'll find some time to look another day.

Am back from MW appt with yet more bloods and BP checks booked on Monday - my blood pressure is just under the tipping point for serious concern so they're worried about pre-eclampsia. I'm not though as it's not increasing, has just been high for the whole pg.

They're also a bit concerned about BH so am under strict instructions to go in if they develop into a pattern or become painful, or if I decide I feel odd... Not sure how I'm supposed to decide how odd is odd though...

On the (major) plus side, pamplemousse is now head down! Not engaged at all though.

SlightlyScrambled · 25/11/2011 17:03

The other thing to consider when buying the jammies and nighties is the heat of us after birth. I don't know if this happens to everybody but I was just roasting for the first few weeks after delivery. Hormones running rampant played a big part in it I think. And I realised when I got home that all my nightdresses didn't have openings at the front for breastfeeding during the night.

Good news on your results Ghost. How much BH are you having?

I'm getting them on and off but they seem to last longer than the time that the books say the should last.

Oh and the bloody cramps. Toes cramped up today during the day just to add a bit of fun to the mix. Jeez, the night ones are cruel.

SlightlyScrambled · 25/11/2011 17:05

Sorry Ghost, meant to say good news about the baby turning. Not the high blood pressure though. Although if it's just the same as always that is kind of good news.
