fish just had a call form my gp (had also called them to ask about it....see how paranoid I was!) and she said they worry about the first 12 weeks but at this stage and being a local one in the gum (she said just a minimum amount is actually absorbed by the blood stream) she said it is fine and to go ahead!

Phew! So another vote for yes! Having my teeth done and feeling much lighter about it now! By the way the name of the anesthetics they will be using is Lidocaine Hydrochloride.

Still....so annoyeddddd at myself...arghh!!!!

ParsleyLion1 · 04/11/2011 10:30

I think that's wise if it can wait fish. My hygenist won't even see pregnant ladies after 6 months because of the lying on the back for more than 1/2 hour thing. greenlady will probably be OK as hopefully the appt will be shorter and/or they can break it up a bit for you. Those crown fitting appts are long and tedious!

greenlady78 · 04/11/2011 10:31

Woops, cross posted! xxx

fishandlilacs · 04/11/2011 10:31

thaks for your advice-I would have blindly gone into that and been seriously uncomfortable. I feel woozy if i stay on my back for more than a few minutes.

Which one of the reasons this bloody cough is so shit-I can't sleep propped up because of the lying on back issue and if i lie flat i cough my guts up. The gaviscon doesn't appear to be helping in the slightest now.

I have to ask you girls a slightly embraasing question. Continence? or in my case almost total lack of-with this cough I am wetting the bed Blush having to sleep on a towel and in pants with an incontinece pad-it's getting really bed. Last night dd woke me up crying, I had a massive coughing fit as I woke up and ended up having to ditch my knee cushion into the machine and change the sheets. Is anyone else struggling? I remember from first time round with dd it being a bit bad but it's really really bad this time. I am doing kegels like a cazy woman-everytime i think of it but it seems to be having little impact. It's yet another symptom of this pregnancy i am really not enjoying right now-feel like one of those stinky old ladies :(

greenlady78 · 04/11/2011 10:33

Fx it won't be that long...and fx I won't feel very guilty for having it done....I wish I didn't need to...argh, I will just forget about it now....or not!

greenlady78 · 04/11/2011 10:37

fish had two mini accidents in the past few months and then started to do pelvic floor exercises which helped immensely...three times a day (10x counting till five, 10X one sec ones) front muscle and back muscle....but I know it can take up to three months to see a real difference...

Sorry you are having such a hard time!!!! Hope you can start to see an improvement soon!!!!!!

addictediam · 04/11/2011 10:43

Fish I'm ok apart from throwing up or having coughing/sneezing fits, then my pelvic floor dissapears! I was fine with dd until the very end. I figured it must be something to do with this being number 2. I guess all we can do is exercises and double the efforts once these dc are here!

ParsleyLion1 · 04/11/2011 10:45

Like greenlady I have had a couple of minor issues but seem to be OK at the moment. I'm a few weeks behind you I think though so we'll see...

k4mi · 04/11/2011 11:02

Oeisha · 04/11/2011 11:38

Welcome k4mi! Do you know what you're having yet? What weird and wonderful things had pg done to your body???

fish thankfully one pg symptom we don't yet share, though there have been a few close moments. I've heard the Epi-No is supposed to be excellent for 'conditioning' work as well as preventing tears/episiotomies as it's all about muscle control. It is fairly pricey though. This is something I've been paranoid about since day 1, so I started my pelvic exercises as soon as I knew I was pg...who knows if it's helped! If there nothing the doctor can do for you? Another thing is to do your best to avoid being constipated as this only adds to the pressure on your pelvic floor. Also, if you're having caffeine then, cut that out too. Helped my Mum loads, as did wearing the full on pant things that Tena do, especially overnight (she's pretty much blind without her glasses, so getting to the toilet's not that simple). It stopped the leaking round the towels onto bedding issue. There are def. things you can take when not pregnant to help (not much help to you now, I realise), so def. push for treatment when LO arrives.

Feeling a little better today. Though have now realised it's been a couple of days since I've pooed! Not all that unusual for me anyway, but am now shovelling back another salad for lunch and will be making myself drinka loarge glass of prune juice (after buying some more) tonight. Last thing I want/need is constipation bringing on an IBS attack. It's bad enough that missy is hooving me somewhere my body doesn't like (this is the latest theory anyway, every time it's happened her head's been on the left).

Crikey, havent' even finished my salad and I can feel that lump in my throat

Oeisha · 04/11/2011 12:10

Now I'm cross. I'm being berrated on the elcs thread for trying to reassure a very worried sounding mum-to-be that childbirth needn't be the agony and fear she's expecting (with a DC1, which is making her want an ELCS). I'm being accused of being unrealistic because I mentioned that many people I know who've had BAD period pains/pain have said childbirth actually hurt less, or was at least more manageable as there was a purpose. Many doctors and specialists have told me the same thing to! I've also been told those doctors were negligent in telling me this! Angry
It seems to me that the people trying to belittle what I was TRYING to say, may not have got the point that just because they've never experience pain like I have, it doesn't mean I'm somehow wimpy or just plain making it up! It also doesn't give them the right to put the fear of god into already worried mums to be.
WTF is wrong with people. Is trying to be positive, and expecting a good birth, but also preparing for a painful one really that BAD??? Sad

Forgot to say before: Mummyzoe I hope you're resting...and Ame's bahaving.

I'd better go to work I suppose.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/11/2011 12:42

Oeisha - I would go on that thread and support you (maybe spout off about hypno again), but I'm feeling a tad wibbly today and not really up to confrontation.

I'll swap brownies for hugs... anyone?

Wormshuffler · 04/11/2011 12:54

I'm with you oeisha I have been on those threads before too.
I ended up with 2 failed vb's both ending up in emcs and would dearly love to have had a vb. It really winds me up when people won't even try. The docs arnt advising me to try this time it would apppear I am not built for childbirth! I will come and help you out x

fishandlilacs · 04/11/2011 13:04

oiesha have put my twopenneth up there for ya!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 04/11/2011 13:29

OK, heaven help me, but I've waded in. That beatrice one got right on my tits. Report back if I've annoyed anyone.

Nanny01 · 04/11/2011 13:59

Wow it's taken me 10 mins to get up to speed. I was thinking about advice to and will be giving none to our friends who are due to be first time parents. We are of tonight and we are so excited for them as they are expecting ivf twins. But as dh says we have never been in their situation so can't advice. I have looked after twins when I was a nanny so have some idea of how tiring it can be but ultimately as a nanny got time of. I am wondering how they will cope with the changes of lifestyle as they have been foot loose but like the rest of us who have kids I am sure they will be fine and I am sure they will be over the moon that they will have a ready made family 1 boy 1 girl.

As for sheets www.brollysheets.co.uk/shop/Brolly+Sheets.html these are great I bought 2 for my daughter and I am thinking of buying a king size one for my bed as I know if our mattress gets wet it doesn't dry easily.

GiraffeAHolic · 04/11/2011 16:07

nods furtively at 'lack of control' issues Blush I can no longer crouch next the toilet to throw up or I have a problem, I have to sit cross legged (and 9 times out of 10 get stuck)

mummyzoe hope you're taking it easy, bedrest sounds like your best bet.

I think my pelvis has finally given up the ghost, I am in agony walking, going to have to bite the bullet and phone the physio on Monday.

Forgot to pick up my GAVISCON other heartburn remedies are also available (Don't want to limit myself in case Rennie are watching :))

Brownwolf · 04/11/2011 17:00

Hi everyone, oeisha sorry to hear bout your hospital trip, glad all is ok tho.

re: continence: I find that I cannot hang on like I used to, thinking oh I'll just finish such and such and then go for a wee, no I have to go straight away or there are consequences! And it's only gonna get worse right?

I failed my driving test today :(

2nd time, but on the positive side it was a silly mistake, not something I would normally do, and the examiner was really encouraging and told me not to give up as the rest of my driving was fine and I would pass.

This is a much more positive outcome than last time, and I didn't cry which is a big improvement!

I have re-booked for 23rd Dec, due date 7th jan do you think am cutting it fine? I will keep checking for cancellations to try and get one sooner but that was the soonest I could get today. I think I can cancel up to a week before and not lose money, so if baby is early or am just to uncomfortable by then I can always postpone.

fishandlilacs · 04/11/2011 17:57

brownwolf boo....

Mum2be79 · 04/11/2011 18:00

Ooh new thread. Like the title.

It has been an eventful three days for me. Went to the MW on Weds morning. She took my blood pressure. Frowned. Check my urine and then asked me if I had a cough, cold, urinary symptoms or thrush. I said non but I did mention that I mentioned my discharge at my 28 week appointment and the MW was unconcerned. She checked Peanut - who was fine and then redid my blood pressure. Frowned again and said "Off to the hospital young lady" as my BP had risen sharply and was continuing to rise.

So off to York I went where I was monitored for a few hours. BP came down, rose again then came down and stabilised. I had a swab and urine sample sent for testing. I did mention that I was having headaches, so at the advice of professionals I decided to take a couple of days off.

Sothis afternoon I went to the GP to see about my test results and with a theory that my headaches was sinusitis (I have chronic rhinosinusitis and have had surgery 2 years ago). I was correct so got some amoxycillin. I was also told that I tested positive for GBS (which I suspected at 28 wks). So that will be dealt with during labour apparently. At least it saved me thirty odd quid as I was planning on being tested privately for it.

After much thought, this annoyed me. Why is it that health authorities will not pay £30 for a 'routine' swab test on an infection that apparently 30% of women carry that can prove fatal for unborns if left untreated YET will give anti-D injections to women when only 15% of the population (that includes men) are Rh-???? Someone doesn't know their maths!!

Well, I've had a restful 2 days off work (I was advised to rest my hospital anyways!) and I have got Monday off as a day in lieu and my mum's coming down tospend more time with me. :)

fishandlilacs · 04/11/2011 18:23

mum2b sorry to hear of your trials, what is GBS? Ah ha group b strep? Pls tell me more about it as i know nothing. Hope youre ok now x
