Ooh new thread. Like the title.
It has been an eventful three days for me. Went to the MW on Weds morning. She took my blood pressure. Frowned. Check my urine and then asked me if I had a cough, cold, urinary symptoms or thrush. I said non but I did mention that I mentioned my discharge at my 28 week appointment and the MW was unconcerned. She checked Peanut - who was fine and then redid my blood pressure. Frowned again and said "Off to the hospital young lady" as my BP had risen sharply and was continuing to rise.
So off to York I went where I was monitored for a few hours. BP came down, rose again then came down and stabilised. I had a swab and urine sample sent for testing. I did mention that I was having headaches, so at the advice of professionals I decided to take a couple of days off.
Sothis afternoon I went to the GP to see about my test results and with a theory that my headaches was sinusitis (I have chronic rhinosinusitis and have had surgery 2 years ago). I was correct so got some amoxycillin. I was also told that I tested positive for GBS (which I suspected at 28 wks). So that will be dealt with during labour apparently. At least it saved me thirty odd quid as I was planning on being tested privately for it.
After much thought, this annoyed me. Why is it that health authorities will not pay £30 for a 'routine' swab test on an infection that apparently 30% of women carry that can prove fatal for unborns if left untreated YET will give anti-D injections to women when only 15% of the population (that includes men) are Rh-???? Someone doesn't know their maths!!
Well, I've had a restful 2 days off work (I was advised to rest my hospital anyways!) and I have got Monday off as a day in lieu and my mum's coming down tospend more time with me. :)
