OiMissus · 06/10/2011 17:28

Hello! Just clocking in. :)
This pregnancy lark, ...it's life Jim, but not as we knew it.

lalababy · 06/10/2011 17:49

Checking in too...
oi CONGRATULATIONS!!! SO EXCITINGGGGGGGG

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 17:52

Pfft! There are zero scruffy nerf herders to drool over in this thread titleWink

The 'hog is gone! Am going shopping for stuff for the lady who runs the hedgehog rehab next week. She does a fab job, and it's not like I have anything else to be buying is it? >_

jomouse · 06/10/2011 18:04

Love the new thread!
In other shock news, my DH is sat next to me reading "First Time Parent", shock and awe...very proud he is bothering :)

Thanks for all your hospital lists, inspiring stuff...

BeeMyBaby · 06/10/2011 18:08

Is everyone getting a 'special' baby outfit for bringing their LO home? My mother insisted on it last time (we went with all hand knitted white stuff) and think I will use the same outfit this time. Not so sure on a snowsuit as have obviously no idea how big baby will be - last time most of the newborn stuff was far too big.

plupervert · 06/10/2011 18:16

Just beaming in, while this ship's already at maximum warp, and still have structural integrity! You never know, LittleMissFlustered, we might still need a TARDIS to fit in everything before our babies get to the end of this universe of theirs.... So, if this thread goes pop before we all so, the Doctor will have to come and save us. (HoneyLovesCake, don't worry about not "getting" Doctor Who; most of the people he comes into contact with don't, either, but they seem to have a lot of fun, so it's not too bad).

fusam: thanks so much for mentioning wipes and flipflops.

sorelip: great news that your GP is going to push for the same "deadline" as you!

oimissus: great news, but doesn't it take more than 2 months to move house?

mopsytop · 06/10/2011 18:16

Oooh new thread! Responding to old thread though:

Congrats on the house Oi!

AWCH - why now AHeadlessWCH??? What happened?

Glad doctor was helpful sorelip

I have never watched Starwars or Star Trek or any of those and only saw Doctor Who for the first time (ever) last year. Don't watch much television. So all of these references are going right over my head!

Plu, two different friends have stuff packed up waiting for me. Picking up one lot in November I think, but the other lot my friend is keeping for me until just before baby is born (lives close by) so that's okay! Must just buy a new mattress for the moses basket she is giving me.

Bee I think baba will be coming home in a babygro and snow suit. Guess I'd better buy a snow suit. Unless someone gives me one. Haven't seen the clothes I've been given yet as not picked them up so don't know. Oh this is all making me feel I had better pull the finger out and get organised.

To start, I guess I'd better copy-paste the maternity bag advice from the old thread, so I know what to pack when I finally get around to it. And make a list of stuff such as moses basket mattress and car seat to buy, so I don't forget!!

The bean is kicking me in my right ribs. Ow.

figgygal · 06/10/2011 18:18

Staking my spot loving the Star trek references I am a major saddo was wetting self last night at big bang theory as was full of wrath of khan references.

Xiaoxiong · 06/10/2011 18:20

Ok here you go littlemiss: hello, hello, hellooo...

Also - hedgehog rehab? Sounds like you're addicted to hedgehogs Hmm

Bee I want a special outfit to bring the baby home for sure - white handknits sounds lovely, we have a really beautiful white cardigan and receiving blanket set that we will probably use.

HoneyLovesCake · 06/10/2011 18:25

Bean is going berserk!!!! Just had a stressful phone call with FIL & while I'm managing to stay outwardly calm I guess my adrenaline is pumping as it feels like there's break dancing going on in my belly...always makes me feel so guilty when I get stressed :(

PullyWoolOver · 06/10/2011 18:58

Hi ladies, thanks for your welcome yesterday Smile. Loving the new thread name! Have read through previous posts and absorbed your wise words on all things pregnancy.

fusam thanks so much for your hospital list, some really useful things that I wouldn't have thought of! Am attacking project HB this weekend...

OiMissus · 06/10/2011 18:59

Maybe it's the bonkers weather, as GingerBaby has been kicking like mad today -and it hurts!
I've no idea when eventual house moving will take place. I aim to carry on as normal and complete the sale asap. If we have to rent for a few months so be it, I ain't losing the sale. Although it won't be ideal with a little one - and at christmas too. I'm making appts to see the 4 favourite houses this weekend, so i'll know more about their circumstances then. Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 19:20

Tyel it was established many years ago that I have disastrously pants taste in men. The offering unthread do naught for me, shall I leave them trusses up on your doorstep for you to dispose of at your leisure?Wink

As for 'hog rehab. I found a perplexed young one in my garden earlier, so he/she/it has been boxed up with a hot water bottle, towel and handful of biscuits and taken to the local rescue place. It was a smelly sod!

I don't rate going home outfits. Functionality any day. Vests, babygros a snowsuit and a hat are the wardrobe choices for this oneGrin

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 19:22

For those looking at snowshoes there are some delightful pale grey ones in Tesco. For those who like that tatty teddy thing, Marks&Sparks have a unisex snowsuit in that design.

I like snowshoesGrin

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 19:22

Snowsuits too. Stupid autocorrect

AheadlesswomancalledHorse · 06/10/2011 19:22

mopsy named changed as Halloween is coming up! Don't worry, I still have my head...unlike Jango Fett!

LittleMiss, glad the Hog has gone, relating to animal people...should I buy the rabbit sitter a present this X-Mas (she may be taking them in at short notice, depending on the birth)?

Oi A big CONGRATS on getting the house sold!

Bee, having a homebirth..so (hopefully) shouldn't need a 'coming home' outfit!

Figgy, talking of the Big Bang Theory..I used to really love the name Leonard, he's just so wet it's put me right off.

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 19:25

I think having a gift in as standby is good form AWCH Saves having to fret about it after the fact.

HoneyLovesCake · 06/10/2011 19:27

Oooh, shopping for houses...sounds like fun :o You must be so excited Oi!!!

I have my scan tomorrow afternoon to check placenta position...REALLY looking forward to it as I'm confident it'll have moved up & we get to see the nugget again :o Also while we're in town we're going to do some shopping which is always good fun...for me anyway, DP will be bored but never mind. On the down side I have an orthodontist appointment in the morning & I'm having mini screws put into my jaw :( NOT looking forward to that one but they've assured me it's not painful Hmm

AheadlesswomancalledHorse · 06/10/2011 19:33

Thanks LittleMiss, the other people I'll buy a standby gift for are the midwives, is anyone else planning to buy something for MW? I guess a posh box of chocolates would be cool right?

Honey, good luck at the scan tomorrow! And at the Orthodonist (ouch)!
I'm off to my, week late, 28wk check up tomorrow...really annoyed MW hasn't bothered to phone me to see why I didn't turn up last week, then off to do some Christmas shopping. Yaaaay(!)

LittleMissFlustered · 06/10/2011 19:51

I've not yet met a member of NHS staff that isn't partial to a chocolate or threeWink

Sorelip · 06/10/2011 20:02

Congratulations Oi, I'm suffering major househunt envy. :)

I've felt yucky today, headachey and nauseous. Only potato wedges and breaded mozzarella sticks can save me now!

hawthers · 06/10/2011 20:16

Just marking my spot x

mopsytop · 06/10/2011 20:23

AWHC I have never yet seen the same midwife more than once, so not going to buy a gift I think.

Not going to buy anyone anything for Christmas except my husband as we are going to stay at home on our own (obviously, seeing as I am due on Christmas Day!!!). Since a few years ago, we do Kriskindl in my family - one present for one other person worth maximum 50 quid and you only take part if you are actually going to be there. SO much less stress, it's really great. Well, for my family anyway. My husband still gets a present for his mum and brother, but I can leave that to him. So I have very little present buying stress, which I am pleased about, as I reckon a new baby is enough to be thinking about.

sevensevenseven · 06/10/2011 20:40

I've finished my Christmas shopping!!!! Sorry, I'm knackered but pleased I got it all done. DH bought me a sewing machine for Christmas, I've wanted one for ages but couldn't really afford one. They had a basic one on offer in John Lewis for £29.50!

I also bought a load of maternity pads, so I just need to buy some enormous cheap pants now then I can pack my hospital bag. I'm not bothering with a going home outfit. We had one for DS but as he was early and tiny he was 2 months old before it fit him. Some of our sleepsuits are really pretty though so she'll still look gorgeous.

oi great news about the house!

honey good luck with the scan tomorrow.

Who was saying on the old thread about their mucus plug? Sorry my memory is terrible at the moment Blush. Anyway, whoever it was I hope you're ok as you haven't updated.

Does anyone have time to update the stats thread with the birth of baby Albert before the old thread gets lost?

plupervert · 06/10/2011 20:50

Oh, the shame. I hadn't even thought of a MW present. (Bollocks. Blush)

My little creature is also very excitable at the moment. Maybe it's the drop in temperature, or the lack of room: they could be rebelling at the "swaddling" in flesh?
