Betwee 8 and 12 weeks to go...and we're giving it all we've got!

I am with you figgy... no major pregnancy symptoms... other than getting bigger and bigger on my tummy and my now gargantuan boobs...! Athough today for the first time I have started feeling like a real stuffed goose... it seems that the baby has really grown over the last week or everything is getting really squished... but I just feel huge around my middle!

Sorelip · 07/10/2011 15:54

Plu, it could be, I really wouldn't be surprised, because this really feels like it. I'll take a trip to Boots tomorrow and pick some of that stuff up. Grapes make me feel ill at the moment, but watermelon sounds delicious!

I'm not sure how pregnant I feel...bump is big but not huge, IYSWIM, and I do pee a lot, and constipation is a problem, but sometimes I manage to forget, and bounce my bump off of door frames and things!

I'm loving the Natal Hypnotherapy birth prep CD. It's making me feel really calm about the birth, and I'm actually really looking forward to it. Over the next few days I will be packing my hospital bag. I'll post the list once it is packed.

kri5ty · 07/10/2011 16:06

Well hellooooo geeks lol :o

Need some info on talc is it still considered a bit dodgy, regarding cancer? People have bought me loads, but I'm reluctant to use it on him when he is born

kri5ty · 07/10/2011 16:13

And the jug (which we won't need) how big are we talking? I have an amusing scene in my head of going to the toilets with my jug, to a room of strange looks off other mums!

Sorelip · 07/10/2011 16:40

Thanks kri5ty, I forgot about the jug! I'll have to buy a small one, the only one I have is huge. I don't know anything about talc, sorry.

Xiaoxiong · 07/10/2011 17:32

What I have been dreading has happened - I have made a meal of something at work because I was tired and distracted, mostly as a result of the SPD and being pummelled from the inside and stressing about the birth centre closing and being afraid of our big MRSA infested hospital up the road. But of course I can't use pregnancy as an excuse.

I thought I did my best on a task but it wasn't good enough and the partner just called me to say he went through it and it "wasn't your best piece of work - not by a long shot". Which of course from a partner means "it was so shit I had to give it to someone else because I can't trust you with it anymore". And he did give it to someone else, who isn't even qualified yet, she's only a trainee Sad

I can't even redeem myself by doing a better job next time, because I doubt he will give me anything in the next four weeks before I go on mat leave.

Just shit, shit, shit all round really.

msbuggywinkle · 07/10/2011 17:42

kri5ty this talks about aspiration which can cause lung issues. As for cancer, well, you can find as much evidence for as against. Personally, I don't use it. There are such fab creams available that I don't think it is worth the risk.

sorelip have you managed to stay awake through it? It is my 2nd time using it and I think I managed it once!

BluebellsintheSpring · 07/10/2011 18:53

Tyelperion that's crap but try not to be so hard on yourself. 3rd Trimester's hard enough but with SPD on top of things, it would be pretty darn hard to keep everything up to the high standards I bet you normally set yourself. Little comfort, I know!

Oi love, love, love the house! Our move is on for the end of this month but thing it looks like rented for us. We got into bidding wars over several and had to pull out - a few more have come on but just feel at 32 weeks, I would like to make move, get a wee bit of stability first, and then move again! We'll see.

Quick q for those doing natal hypnotherapy - I have the Birth Prep CD. Fully believe the mind - body combo is powerful one but don't think it is quite working for me. I find it really hard to switch off the conscious/over thinking part of my mind! Any tips? Been suffering from leg cramps and tried to take myself to hypnotic state and turndown the dial/numb the pain, the other day. It had absolutely no impact! If I can't do it for leg cramp - don't think I'm in the place to make it work for labour!

Enough from me - it's early to bed tonight. 5.30 start tomorrow with Ireland vs Wales!

Sorelip · 07/10/2011 19:58

Tyelperion that is poo. Pregnancy isn't an excuse, it's a reason - show me anyone that can perform at their best when in the 3rd trimester, and with SPD. I'd love to meet them, but I fear they don't exist...

msbuggy I've fallen asleep every time bar once, and even then I drifted off.

Bluebell when I was getting what I think were braxton hicks, or maybe constipation pains, last night I moved around lots, breathed deeply and got DH to stroke my hair. Worked a treat! I didn't try the dialing down the pain thing, didn't even occur to me Blush

aethelfleda · 07/10/2011 21:06

oi, that is a FAB house! We used to rent in Yorkshire and only koved bacl down south cos that's where all our relatives are (and also where the work was). Hope you get it!

Tyel, don't feel too bad- you are dealing with lots of physical stress, and it says more about the bosses' attitude than you when they give you crap like that.

And thanks for the good wishes about my dad- he's still in hospital but much more cheerful and planned for home tomorow. Am going to have lots of fun as am spending the day looking after my brothers' three: it's going to be chaos with 5 kiddies under ten having a play/sleepover in our little terrace!

sevensevenseven · 07/10/2011 22:12

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stay awake listening to the natal hypnotherapy CD. I know your subconscious still absorbs it but I'm sceptical how it can work when I've no idea what it's said. I know nothing about turning down dials to numb the pain. I think I'd better listen sitting at the table like it recommends.

mopsytop · 08/10/2011 07:49

Faberoo house Oi!

hawthers · 08/10/2011 08:59

tyelperion exactly same thing happened to me this week at work. Really unpleasant and made me really upset and I've still got 7 weeks left at work. Dreading this week

msbuggywinkle · 08/10/2011 09:12

seven it worked for me last time without managing to stay awake!

bluebell It is just practice that does it really. If you find yourself thinking, think to the end of that thought (erm, I hope you know what I mean!) then go back to concentrating on your breathing. I 'trance' really easily now.

sevensevenseven · 08/10/2011 09:31

Thanks msbuggy. last night I missed out the golden light bit and listened from the beach, thinking that if I'm less relaxed I'll stay awake. I made it past turning down the dial but then still fell asleep!

After 2 broken nights of DS waking up scared by the wind I tried putting a few drops of lavender oil in his bath, he slept brilliantly and didn't even wake up needing a wee. The tiredness has only just caught up with me though, I'm more tired today than I was yesterday. I must make an effort, I'm still in my pyjamas!

plupervert · 08/10/2011 10:46

Tyelperion, your work has got systems in place to protect you from mistakes going out to clients, so at least you don't have to stress that anything will go "external". We've all had mistakes highlighted, so don't feel bad about being human; just keep going toward that baby-deadline, which is one you won't miss! I think exposure is a key thing, though. A few years ago, I pissed someone off with an article in my first fortnight of a new job (someone was trying to tell me to quote someone else as having said what he said, and was pissed off when I hadn't grasped that he wanted me to do something so strange and unethical! Hmm), although thankfully my boss (above my line-manager) backed me up. A lot of the work was very exposed, as it was industry news, so it did matter having bosses on one's side. When that boss left, and we got in a weakling - ohhh, that was a different way to work, all right. Scary and stressful.

BluebellsintheSpring · 08/10/2011 11:47

Thanks Msbuggywinkle def going to stick with it!

Determined to have a productive weekend a)house packing and cleaning b)preparing hospital bag c) preparing for big job interview in 2 weeks. Oh the optimism of a Saturday morning!

KateM77 · 08/10/2011 13:14

The double buggy arrived the other day. Got it out of the box today and have finally managed to construct it. Going to have to admit defeat and ask DH for help with figuring out how on earth to attach the car seat at the back to make it into a travel system, it's winding me right up! Presume I must be missing something, or baby is never going to stay asleep when I transfer from car to buggy

Sorelip · 08/10/2011 14:05

Stretch marks have arrived! They have appeared next to my navel on the right-hand side. They weren't there yesterday morning, but were yesterday evening. Now I'm hoping a crop appears on the left-hand side as well, I can't bear things not being (sort of) symmetrical.

I collected a delivery of terry nappies and plastic pants from my nearest Boots today, so now I just need some wraps for if LO turns out to be under 10lb.

My uncle has donated a massive black sack of baby clothes to me, and I can't believe how much he has given me. Seriously, there are enough clothes to not have to do washing for the first three months, what with all the stuff I've already bought.

How is everyone doing today?

mopsytop · 08/10/2011 14:24

I have two weeny stretch marks next to my appendix scar but that is all so far, please please please let that be it!

On a mundane note, cleaning the bathroom has become so uncomfortable - ow, my back! Not fun.

kri5ty · 08/10/2011 15:20

I'm sorry for you that are struggling in work :( try not to be too hard on yourself though!!

Thanks msbuggy for the link... I don't think I want to risk using it either.

Hmm today I feel like I have a head between my legs, I can't sit down or stand from the pressure! No idea how I will cope in labour... I'm useless lol

LittleMissFlustered · 08/10/2011 15:28

I haven't bought anything but a coffee today, but I did get lots of tesco vouchers through the post so will spend them next week:)

If you haven't joined the sainsbury's mum and baby club yet, I recommend it. The free stuff in the box when you buy a pack of nappies and hand over the voucher is not bad: full size pack of wipes, full size shower gel, nice spare change mat and a bottle of hand gel and odds and ends like tissues and laundry testers. With a money off coupon I already had for the nappies it cost a grand total of £2! Much better than a bounty pack!

I upgraded my phone today, my shiny new toy should arrive sometime next week.

I plan to do nothing much for the rest of today, but must admit the bathroom is annoying me so I may clear out all the random bottles of stuff that I no longer like the smell of:)

Hope you're all having a nice weekend.

sevensevenseven · 08/10/2011 16:04

I can sympathise mopsy, mine was hurting yesterday after I cleaned out the guinea pigs. I'm making sure I only bath DS on nights when DH is at home now so he can lift him in and out for me.

I'm being paranoid, I've just ordered some urine test strips from amazon so I can check for protein at home. I just thought given my previous pre-eclampsia I'd have checks more often this time, I think given how quickly PE can develop going a month between appointments when I know I'm likely to get it is a long time. Sorry not trying to worry anyone!

mopsytop · 08/10/2011 16:10

Just looking into car seats. Have decided on the maxicosi cabriofix but wondering whether should get the easyfix base (which it appears will only last for the 1st year with that babyseat) or the familyfix base. I guess I might as well just get the easyfix base, as I am planning on having a second baby anyway.

ugh I hate looking up this sort of stuff!

mopsytop · 08/10/2011 16:11

p.s. seven good idea re: urine strips, might as well have some peace of mind.
