Join us as we head out of the secretive, scary, slightly sicky first trimester and into the bump emerging, supposedly blossoming, energy boosting second trimester.

Hello all. Digitalgirl, all my mat clothes are from summer. I got them out today and I'm going to be wearing very few of them. Have kept them though as I didn't exactly snap back into pre-pregnancy clothes last time - I'd only just shrunk to a size I was starting to be happy with when I got pregnant with this one. Liking the sound of the jeggings, may pop into JoJo's for a look. Likely to be disappointed, though. I'm very tall (well, 5'11) and apparently you're allowed to be tall or pregnant, but definitely not both - it took me most of my pregnancy last time to find a pair of jeans that fitted, they are, sadly, frumpy though.

Beyond, hope you stop throwing up soon. I also think I can feel the baby move (14+2), but it could just be wind. Hmm

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 09/10/2011 19:48

UniPsychle I'm 5'10" and got nearly all my mat clothes last time from Next. Some arent that great (like you said, frumpy shaped!) but they do loads of their mat clothes in tall or even EXTRA tall :)
I bought these jeans the other day and they are the comfiest actual clothes I now own (RIP linen trousers :( )

LaTristesse · 09/10/2011 20:01

Interested in the Jojo jeggings... Do you think they'd work if you're not stick shaped though... (stick with a bump, that is!) I'd love to wear jeggings, tunic and boots through this pg, but am scared jeggings will make me look like a whale (or at least accentuate the whale look I appear to be perfecting of my own accord...)

UniPsychle · 09/10/2011 20:06

Oooh. Beyond Those jeans look good. Do they have them in the shop or just on-line? Am scared of on-line clothes shopping as am convinced things won't fit and I'll be too lazy/disorganised/knackered to post them back! Does the X mean extra tall? I usually need a 34 inch leg.

UniPsychle · 09/10/2011 20:14

LaTristesse I reckon jeggings look fine for most shapes - skinny legs are not always ideal. I have skinny legs and a more, ahem, rounded middle (when not pregnant; it's even more roundy now) and I think I look like a toffee apple when wearing j/leggings if I get the top wrong. Think the key is getting a tunic that's a flattering length for you, put a nice pair of boots and beads/scarf with it and you'll look foxy. Am also planning on doing the tunic/leggings/boots thing as it still seems to be 'in' enough to get away with and should be dead easy/comfy.

digitalgirl · 09/10/2011 20:34

tristesse agree with uni - am normally a pear shaped 12-14, and pregnancy just makes me heavier on the thighs but jeggings paired with chunky boots knee high and a long top/tunic is much more flattering then boot cut jeans (which make my legs look twice as wide).

I also tried on some leggings in jojo - but they just looked like thick tights. I like the cinching effect of certain stretch denims.

Am also on the lookout for a nice a line over bump autumn skirt if anyone spots one. Nothing too 'officey' - all I've seen are plain black or denim skirts with the stretchy bits above the pockets which just make me look lumpy!

For interested parties, Dotty P's has a sale of their mat stuff right now here Nothing that will set your pulse racing (and no lovely a-line skirts digitalgirl) but some decent basic tops for £7. Have just looked at Isabella Oliver. I shouldn't have, they've some lovely stuff, but I wouldn't pay £95 for not maternity jeans, let alone some I'm going to be wearing for less than a year. Sad

Thumbelina79 · 09/10/2011 21:45

Karensb - great news!!!!

My scan tomorrow at 10am! I'm gonna give it (certain its a her) a bloody good talking to about making me feel so awful and not to do it again! Although after 2 pints I may embarrass myself and wet my pants too ;)

I've got a big belly. And bum/thigh spreadage. Bought a poncho and a paper bag with eyes cut out - could double up as a sick bag!

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 10/10/2011 10:10

Uni - I get the XLong (yep, X is XLong) and then shorten them, rather than get the Long. I think XLong is 35" and Long 33"?
PS, I got my wedding dress from Isabella Oliver :)

Not sure if they have them in the shop, my High Street Next is long gone (along with everything else! :( ) so I order online anyway. Their mat stuff is really generous though, even at 9m I didnt have to go up a size like I did with other clothes shops (peacocks being a big offender there, their mat tops were up past my belly button!)

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 10/10/2011 10:11

Oh, and good luck to everyone whose scans are today :)

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 10/10/2011 10:11

In fact, Thumbelina should be in there now........

Thumbelina79 · 10/10/2011 20:46

She(?) was a wriggley little alieney-dot-person.
They couldnt get an exact date but went for 12.4 today so knocked off a week!
Already feeling better.
Oh and the toast there was lovely, salty butter and white bread. yummmm. Are you allowed to go just for the toast??

Suppose its real now...

I want to give her(?) a kiss

SurprisEs · 10/10/2011 22:18

Congratulations on the scan Thumbelina.

I fancy toast now, but I only have that horrible thing called spread at home...

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 11/10/2011 10:38

Blegh, I hate real butter. Makes me sick!

You had toast? They didnt even have water when I was in this time!!! Envy

Hotpotpie · 11/10/2011 13:10

Hi is it ok if I join in? Im due April 20th and have just (finally) passed the dreaded 12 week line, had my scan Friday and my little one had hiccups which was quite hilarious to watch I want to get very excited now but I cant quite yet still got some hangover worries from the last few weeks

Not long now (thats what I keep telling myself anyway)

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 11/10/2011 13:23

Hello Hotpot and welcome! Is this your first?

Lol at not long. 177 days til my due date Grin

Hotpotpie · 11/10/2011 13:30

It is indeed, I seem to have spent 12 weeks trying to worry myself sick lmao, am just in the middle of talking the OH in to a home birth for something different to do!

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 11/10/2011 13:45

Very normal and wont stop at 12 weeks. Or 20. Or birth. Grin

KatAndKit · 11/10/2011 16:19

Pleased to read of good scan news!
I have caved in and ordered an angelsounds doppler. i couldn't afford the more medical looking one so I hope this one works, even on my pudgy belly.

And I have booked my second midwife appointment for next week - very exciting as I have never previously made it past booking in.

and I now own my first ever pair of maternity trousers!! I've just gone for an under bump type for now as I don't think I need the mega panel at all yet but the adjustable waistband is a godsend.

digitalgirl · 11/10/2011 22:09

Hi ladies - dating scan went well. Am 13+1 today so due date is back to 16th April (don't think I got round to changing it on the stats thread so it's staying as is!). NT measured fine, just need to wait for the blood results.
Feeling very relieved at having got this far. Hopefully will treat myself to some more maternity clothes tomorrow, can't live in these jeggings forever! (congrats kat on your first pair!)

Was so so lovely to see the little baby moving around! Amazing to think all that's happening inside me and I still can't feel a thing!

welcome hotpotpie have you stuck yourself on the stats thread?

Grin at beyond's daily countdown!

Great news on your scan thumbelina I've never heard of toast being given out at scans (jealous) - I thought that was just after giving birth?

I have an appt with an Obs in 4 weeks and my 20 week scan is booked in for 6 weeks time when I'll be 19 weeks. But not supposed to be seeing a midwife till I'm 28 weeks!

thepuddingchef · 12/10/2011 09:48

hey ladies....haven't posted much but have been keeping up with the thread. I'm having my scan today, excited but a bit nervous. Nice to read about all the positive scan s etc...... and to see more people due in april!

Hotpotpie · 12/10/2011 09:56

thanks digitalgirl I havent I dont think I shall go and have a look

goodluck thepuddingchef hope you have an enjoyable day

VintageNancy · 12/10/2011 10:32

Good news on your scan digi :) It is weird to think that's happening inside but we can't feel anything.

Welcome hotpot and hello pudding - hope it all goes well!

I have 16 weeks midwife appt next week - apparently they listen to the heartbeat. I am tempted by a dopppler though too - where did you get yours from kitandkat? (I really fancy a kitkat now!).

KatAndKit · 12/10/2011 10:49

I ordered it off Amazon. I just went for the Angelsounds as it was cheapest but they had some more medical looking ones in the £50 price range with an lcd display too but I couldn't justify that at the moment. You could try ebay too but I try to stay off ebay or else I get bidding rage.
I have my next midwife appt next week too but will only be 15 weeks. What do they do at the second appointment anyway? MrK is coming to this one, mainly to skive off work for a morning, but I fear he will be disappointed if it is just wee and blood pressure!

Mackrelmint · 12/10/2011 10:52

Hello again - been a bit quiet but reading; good to see more positive scans (although I am jealous of this place where you get toast with your scan too!)

I am 13 weeks today (I think - the hospital tell me I'm 13+4 but internet says 13) and scan tomorrow.

I'm sure I have felt movements too although it seems WAY too early so I don't quite believe it. But it's the exact same kind of tickle from the inside that I felt with DD - that only started around 18/19 weeks though.

Weirdly enough my belly seems to be getting smaller again - it was fairly bump-like a few weeks ago, but now it looks like pre-pregnancy. I also have no nausea anymore and still no pregnancy boobs so it's weird - I really don't feel pregnant and am really impatient to get the scan and (hopefully!) have it confirmed that there's really a little living thing in there.

I just worked out I only have 68 working days left til ML (touch wood etc. etc.) - that really doesn't seem much! (I only work 3 day week). I've only been back 2 months...
