Join us as we head out of the secretive, scary, slightly sicky first trimester and into the bump emerging, supposedly blossoming, energy boosting second trimester.

Lucky you with Italian heritage dg! Lots of lovely girls names, you're right. I like Carlo and Rocco for boys; can't think of any others but there must be some good boys names out there too. We were just lamenting yesterday that we weren't either French or Spanish - French for beautiful girls names (I love Amandine and Severine) and Spanish for boys names (DP would love an Alberto).

Just 30 days left at work for me now (last day 14th March, at 35+2). Doesn't feel like too long now. Defo need to 1.get myself registered with a local GP, as I don't see MW again til about 36 weeks I think, and 2.do a tour of birthing centre and finally make a decision on hospital/home birth! Oh, and get my bloody MATB1, which I forgot after waiting for over an hour last time. Who would have thought having a baby involved so much admin...

I have at least booked a doula, which I am really glad of. The one thing I came out of last time knowing was that I really needed someone calm and experienced to support and encourage me. It's just luck of the draw with midwives, and want to cover the likelihood I get a scary horrible one again!

I'm half Italian too, digitalgirl - DS's middle name is Nino (after my dad. I know it's a diminutive of Antonio but my dad was christened Nino).

Mackerel No reason not to use a French or Spanish name even if you have no connection. I know quite a few little boys called Luca with no Italian heritage - their parents just liked the name.

We have a few names on our shortlist but my favourite at the moment is Marianne.

Thaleia · 04/01/2012 10:28

I like Antonio, too digitalgirl, Enrico is nice as well.

The other name on the short list is Patrick but it's a bit "everyday". At the end of the day, you can't please everyone but everyone will get used to it eventually.

Key issue IMO is that it needs to be international or at least be pronounceable in other languages as well (with the added bonus of not sounding horrible if possible). I think the time, when you never had to leave you home country to find work/ life/ play are over ....

HollyPockett · 04/01/2012 16:05

What about Gino Thaleia - love that.

We have quite a few names for the Diva. I loved Willow but the DH vetoed it :(

I need to quite urgently start looking in to childcare for when I go back to work. Scary thought that but I'm only having 6 months off so Diva will need somewhere to go as of mid Oct and they get quite booked up where I live.

Is anyone else getting awful acid reflux? Urgh, it's awful, not quite heart burn and it doesn't matter what I eat but late afternoon I get the most awful burning in my throat.

Ah, the joys pf pregnancy!

Thaleia · 04/01/2012 17:06

No, we need something International but still German - Gino is too Italian :-).

It's just hard and I don't want to give in (with Kai) just because the "outside" pressure is too much. At the end of the day, once the little one is named, people will eventually stop complaining. Having said that, we have twins in the family called Anna-Lena and Ann-Kathrin which is still been frown up on after 18 months 'sigh'.

They all sound lovely names, i still kept changing my mine. Its pretty hard thinking of girls and boys. kind of wish we found out now! lol
We gonna pick 2/3 of each and decide when they get here.

Im now 28 wks. I had midwife today, she did heartbeat and measured my belly. Its 29cm so i am in limited to what i should be for 28wks.
Still feel quite big, although people say im small and have a neat bump!

I have glocose test tomorrow because my BMI is just over 30. Its a 2 hrs test and you have to wait for blood test to be done after 2 hrs. Also you cant eat after 9 tonight and NO breakfast for me! Wish me luck i love my breakfast.
Gonna pack a lunch for straight after, i think i will need to stuff my face by 12 o clock the next day. Ill be staving!!!!

Other than that, im keeping well, hope u guys are? x

Are you all watching One Born Every Minute? I can't watch it from here as the online videos restricted to UK only. I don't think I dare watch the US one having seen some episodes last year!

molly3478 · 05/01/2012 14:15

Im due on April 1st. Having DD no 2 cant wait now time is going too slow

JambalayaCodfishPie · 05/01/2012 14:23

I watched OBEM, I was never fussed pre-pregnancy, but have watched them all on 4OD since I found out! I find it really interesting!

Theres 13 more episodes left apparently, so I'll be on maternity when it finishes, and some of us will already have our babies!! Grin

WRT names, we have several choices lined up for a girl, none as yet for a boy - DP is taking that as a sign that we must be having a girl.

We will, at some point over the next few weeks be going for a 3d/sexing scan, and hopefully he/she will be a bit more compliant this time and we'll get to find out what we're having!

My bump is finally starting to make an appearance, however it may be more Christmas than baby! :)

LaTristesse · 05/01/2012 16:32

Definitely agree with the acid reflux - gaviscon is my new best friend!

I just created a 3rd Trimester thread btw - here

Welcome to the newcomers! Smile

Hi surprises, just come across your posts now, how did you get on with your job interview and job centre. Did they really tell you to disclose you are pregnant at the interview?
