Thank you, I know....the 3 month probation worries me too but I am really hoping that cos I'll have been in the job a bit before they know that they can see that I am good at it and they'll also get to know me. S'pose it gets harder the further on you get about not mentioning it at interview. I am confused too n dont want to seem like I am decieving them, it kind of feels like a bit.

Must be a day of it with the husband thing...I am really wanting to buy a doppler, anyone got one and using it at the mo?? I had one last pregnancy cos of having the mmc and I remember it being really good but no my husband remembers it being rubbish....n his memory is always pants but he is sticking by this n we just cant agree whether to go for it or not.

SurprisEs · 06/10/2011 21:25

I don't have one but wish I did as I'm sure it would bring peace of mind.

Ask your husband to choose between a dopler and you keeping him up all night because you're feelig insecure. Even if it isn't the case.

AprilAl · 06/10/2011 21:51

Wow, what a busy week it's been so far!

Welcome to JackieJay and Ains16 and congratulations to all those who've had their scans. So glad they went well. Glad to hear some of you are starting to feel better too - and to those who are still feeling ropey, I hope you will be joining us soon. How exciting that some of you are starting to feel movements! I can't wait until I can.

I've just got home from my first ever NCT nearly new sale and couldn't resist buying an old Fisher Price pull-along phone (yes it's eyes do go up and down when you pull it Grin). I had one when I was little and so did DH, so it seems only right that we get one for the next generation - even if they won't have a clue what it's supposed to be!

SurprisEs · 06/10/2011 21:56

AprilAl DD has one of those phones! She used to love it. I had one too. They are still a very popular toy, maybe because we all had one and feel like DC should too.

Just received a delivery of maternity wear from Jojo Maman Bebe. It came with a £60 voucher...

...for wine

Envy

That's just cruel

AprilAl · 07/10/2011 11:56

On the plus side: 6 months today! Grin

karensb · 07/10/2011 15:33

I need some advice! I have been lurking for a while as although I am 12 weeks pregnant I have had 3 missed miscarriages in the last year so havent felt too hopeful. I have had 3 scans already, the last at 9+4 and all were good. I am meant to have my scan next Wednesday when I would be 13 weeks but due to complications that is likely to be changed but wont find out when to until Monday. It could still be next week or the week after.

I am thinking of booking a private reassurance scan for tomorrow but it would cost £100!! I do have a dd aged 6 years and I feel the stress of not knowing what they will find is terrifying me. I am so sick of going to scans to find the heartbeat has stopped and not sure I can wait much longer before collapsing in a quivering heap! It might be a complete waste of money if all is fine but I know I will feel better.

We are not well off so the money will be hard to cover. DH is away so cant ask him what he thinks although I know if I said the wait was driving me insane he would support my decision.

What would you do?

LaTristesse · 07/10/2011 16:31

Hey karensb, good to have you with us. If you wanted the nuchal screening that can only be done up to 13+ something, so that might be grounds for requesting an earlier date if possible... Otherwise I think if it were me I'd ride it out, a week and a bit goes pretty fast, but then I am in the luxurious position of having had my scan... If it's about the m

LaTristesse · 07/10/2011 16:37

Sorry, ruddy iPhone posted too soon... Was going to say if it's about the money you could always save a bit on Christmas or sell some stuff on eBay maybe? I don't like that lack of cash is a barrier to piece of mind when you need it... Good luck.

Thumbelina79 · 07/10/2011 18:32

I dont want to be sickly any more!!!!!!!
Scan on Monday - c'mon its gotta get better - its just gotta.
I'm such a misery. My poor husband.
And orange juice - I'm constantly jugging it - with a mouth ulcer!!!! OUCH.
We've only told my cousin. It doesnt feel real and I'm not excited just sick and sad.
This will change? Wont it?

Thumbelina79 · 07/10/2011 18:33

karensb - Keep going lady, your dealing with a lot there. Puts my moaning into perspective

digitalgirl · 07/10/2011 18:51

karensb welcome to the thread. Sorry to hear of your losses this year. I understand your worries, ive had 4 mc's in the last two years. I was told that if all looks well at the 9 week scan then your chances of mc reduce very dramatically. Something to do with the placenta beginning to take over. So you've done well to get this far. I think in your case you can push to ensure your scan will be early in the week - you're quite within your rights to kick up a fuss if they want to push it back to 14 weeks.
Where were your early scans? If at the epu I'm pretty sure you could call them and ask for a scan while waiting for the next one. Otherwise, if you find the nhs aren't budging to get you a scan this week I'd be tempted to book a private one - having had mc's before I know peace of mind and positive thoughts are really important.

Welcome newbies. I hope everything goes well for you.

Help! I am already counting down until I finish work. And I don't plan on leaving until 12th March 2012. It could be a long 5 months Wink

karensb · 07/10/2011 19:41

I have decided to go ahead with scan tomorrow. I just dont have the emotional reserves left to fight for earlier scan without just crying all over them or to just wait quietly.Money just isnt the most important factor here.

We were meant to be going away for night in half term so will cancel that and use the money for the scan and just have day trip. Havent managed to tell dh as he is away and dont want to spoil his lads trip away so hope he wont mind when he gets back. Dont think he will as he knows how hard this has all been.

I am meant to be having girlie fun with dd this weekend whihc is being spoilt by stress so at least will know one way or another by tomorrow lunchtime.

Thumbelina I know what you mean about the sickness. Mine has been really bad and only abated slightly this week. JUst want to feel normal again, but still pregnant!

AprilAl · 07/10/2011 21:00

Welcome karensb and sorry to hear you've had such a tough time over the last year.

Good luck with the scan tomorrow, I really hope it gives you the peace of mind you need.

digitalgirl · 08/10/2011 10:52

Good luck today karensb - let us know how it goes.

SurprisEs · 08/10/2011 11:07

Good luck today karensb and welcome!

DD went to sleep around 8pm yesterday and woke up at 9am today. I'm so pleased! Really needed it and went to sleep straight after her. I'm hoping our non-sleep marathons are over.

Anyone else with terrible back pain. It's been about 2 weeks but I'm reluctant in accepting it's pregnancy related as I'm exactly carrying a heavy bump yet.

SurprisEs · 08/10/2011 11:08

" not exactly arrying a heavy bump yet"

VintageNancy · 08/10/2011 15:00

SurprisEs I've had bad back problems resulting in 2 weeks off work. I do have history of back issues but apparently it could also be because of the hormone Relaxin doing it's thing. Hope you're not in too much pain.

I'm going to be a lady of leisure in 3 weeks time. Handed my notice in! We're moving to the US in Dec. I spent the last 2 days telling people at work I'm pregnant, leaving work and moving abroad. Not sure if people think we're mad, brave or lucky! Maybe all three Grin

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 09/10/2011 10:35

Lol, that sounds great vintagenancy , and a little of all three! Grin

SurprisEs my back is agony already, but I dont think it had recovered from DS yet (not unlike the rest of my body!) I had my first shoot of sciatica this week too and got stuck in bed. Two funny memories from being preg with DS both related to my sciatica... First one, I was sorting out his room and he kicked, so being alone in the house I laid on the floor to feel him and have a little chat. And got stuck. DH got home about half hour later and had to save me! Second one, I was in work, walking round the office, and my leg got stuck and I couldnt put any weight on it, or move at all. A colleague had to wheel a chair over to me for me to sit down and wheel back to my desk! Grin

Hope the scan was alright karensb !! :)

I'm still throwing up like a bitch. In fact the last few days cause I've had a cold its been much worse cause of all the phlegm :( Sometimes I cant even keep water down so am self medicating with dioralyte sachets to try to stop me dehydrating (I'm generally able to keep something down in the evening, but not breakfast or lunch. And like I said, its only the last few days I've been this bad, so dont think its hyperemisis. I will go to the doctors if its no better when my chest is clear though). I lost a stone in the first trimester with DS, so I reckon I'm doing quite well as I've stayed the same weight this time. In fact I worked out that this week (maybe it was next week?) is when my morning sickness went with DS. So I'm keeping everything crossed...

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 09/10/2011 10:38

PS AprilAl I'd bought DS a fisher price phone for xmas and its upstairs ready to be wrapped... And then FIL bought him one for his birthday (not a problem, now we'll keep it for next xmas and have one for each DC!!)
They will know what it is though, as I have an awesome old style phone here!! Grin

karensb · 09/10/2011 11:52

Scan was great. The best £100 I have ever spent. It was so nice to go to sleep last night feeling excited rather than worrying what I was going to tell dd if it was bad news. Thanks for all your advice. It was helpful just to sort out my own thoughts.

LaTristesse · 09/10/2011 13:41

Great news karensb, really pleased you got a good result!

digitalgirl · 09/10/2011 14:47

That's great karensb! Money well spent.

I am 13 weeks today - woohoo! I think that means tomorrow I officially start the second trimester. Just need the dating/nuchal scan on Tuesday to go well and I think I may be able to relax a little. Had odd little back twinges last night which worried me but they'd gone by the morning. Would just like to be able to think 'oh that's prob body adjusting to all the stretching etc' rather than 'oh shit, what does that twinge mean?'

However, on a more positive note, I have an enormous bump (to match my unfortunate ginormous arse). And a rather unattractive bulging vein running across my cleavage - which I seem to remember getting in my pg with ds. I haaaaate my maternity jeans, they make me look so frumpy. So I bought some mat jeggings from jojomaman yesterday and they're much more suitable. May get another pair as I can't fir into my regular jeans anymore so I only have my horrid mat jeans, these amazing jeggings and some old cropped non-mat trousers which just about fit below the bump. All my old mat clothes are summerwear. Looking forward to treating myself to a shopping trip after Tuesday.
