Join us as we head out of the secretive, scary, slightly sicky first trimester and into the bump emerging, supposedly blossoming, energy boosting second trimester.

happy christmas all

Am very jealous of those with small bumps! I am HUGE!
and also very annoyingly got my spd back with vengance and so can hardly walk by most eves (not helped with DS going up all the time and then crying if i don't pick him up!)
So i am feeling sorry for myself and thinking maybe i should take it easy but not really that easy.... Am actually really ready not be pregnant any more but obviously don;t really want him to come out. Oh well must stop complaining and make tea!
hope all feeling better than me...

toddlerama · 23/12/2011 10:46

Hey ladies, just added myself to the stats thread.

I'm due 23rd April, mahoosive bump and awful SPD. I feel very sorry for myself Sad Still, over half way there...

We had our scan this week and found out we're having our first boy! I was totally shocked. Completely expected another girl. DH is definitely pleased not to be quite so outnumbered...

AprilAl · 24/12/2011 08:15

Well, the presents are all wrapped and I'm off for three days in a house full of hundreds of DH's family. It will be lovely, they're a great family, but I'm slightly trepidatious at the thought of doing it with no lubrication Wink

Looking forward to seeing my little nephew again. He was so cute last time he saw me and the bump and was proudly telling everyone that "Aunty AprilAl has a baby in her tummy and I'm it's cousin". Can't wait to see his reaction now he'll be able to feel it kick.

Merry Christmas everyone Grin

spannermary · 24/12/2011 13:15

Well, I'm 25 weeks tomorrow and fat as a fool! (love it!)

Have a wonderful, guilt-free Christmas Day - and to those of us expecting our first...the quietest Christmas for a while?!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Xxx

newmummyvicky · 26/12/2011 11:22

Hope u all had fun and eate lots, to make up for not drinking lol.
Whats everyones plans for newyear? i think i gonna be my first sober one in quite a few years. Thinking about having a quiet one, maybe just a meal with hubby.

newmummyvicky · 26/12/2011 11:26

Not had cramp since, but will try eating more bannanas thanks *Mackermint

VintageNancy · 28/12/2011 04:40

Hi all, just checking in from States-side. We now have a house, a car and Internet :). And a mahoosive bed which I love.
Haven't sorted a doctor yet but hopefully once the Christmas shut-down has finished DH can get the healthcare sorted and we can get registered.
I can't wait to go baby stuff shopping really soon too.

Baby is kicking loads now which I love - definitely makes it more real. 99 days to go...

Thaleia · 29/12/2011 14:00

Hi Girls, back in the UK - and back at work ..... oh well, nothing is perfect.
I too am really big now, thanks to xmas dinner and lunch and all the yummi food in between.
Off to IKEA tomorrow, would be nice to find a bargain or two.

digitalgirl · 29/12/2011 17:13

Hi ladies - bookmarking after a long spell away from this thread.

Am 24 weeks now, really pleased to have made it to 'viability'. Told HR before Xmas and waiting to have my official chat re: maternity leave etc.

Baby is kicking loads, some days are more active than others. I'm also huge. Hips have completely recovered from the steroid withdrawal and am now merely suffering good ole fashioned spd. Although am doing my best to listen to my body and rest when necessary.

Xmas was fairly relaxed although somehow I seemed to still do the bulk of the cooking and tidying (was hoping to play the pg card a bit more but no-one else seemed that bothered about getting dinner on the table in time).

Having this week and next week off work with dh's big 40th bash on the Saturday before I'm back so am taking it easy over nye weekend.

Less than 3 weeks till third trimester! And 4 weeks till my next mw appointment. I expect this thread will start moving a bit faster once we get closer to people's due dates.

Hello everyone- I'm also expecting an April bambino.
Currently 6 months & feeling okay.
Hope you're all enjoying the second trimester

bushymcbush · 29/12/2011 22:06

Welcome to the April thread Garlic!

newmummyvicky how lovely to have your mat leave in your sights! When is everyone else planning to start mat leave? I am hoping to get to March 31st. It's the end of term (I'm a teacher) so it rounds things off nicely to finish then. OTOH I wonder how difficult I will find work by the time I'm 38 weeks! Last time, I stopped at 36.

What about the rest of you?

JambalayaCodfishPie · 29/12/2011 22:29

Ooh Bushy I'm also finishing at 38 weeks - a week later than you, when my school finishes for the Easter holidays! Smile

HollyPockett · 31/12/2011 17:33

I'm hoping to last until 28th March, which will be 38 weeks - that's if all stays on track :)

The Diva has now moved on from fluttering movements and has learnt to kick and, it seems, punch :)

Happy New Year to you all, hope you have a great night, not drinking!!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 01/01/2012 09:24

Happy New Year April 2012-ers!

We're having babies this year! Grin

Tinwe · 01/01/2012 09:47

Hi all! Happy New Year! Not sure if I've posted on this thread before but think not so thought I'd introduce myself :)
I'm due around about 15/4/12, maybe a bit earlier. We're not sure of dates as I never had a period after my DD was born LAST April! If DC2 comes as expected we will briefly have two DC under one :) Anyone else got a small age gap?
We dont know if DC2 is a boy or girl as they were too shy in the scan :(
Biggest news at the mo for us is that I return to work next week after 8 months mat leave, my DD is very luckily being cared for by MIL. In some ways I am looking forward to it but I also have all the usual reservations about leaving my little one and there are a couple of complications - I am suffering from bad sciatica/SPD and am going back to a new workplace. The plan is for me to work full time until mid March when I will start my next mat leave. I am already v big though!
My DH and I would have liked me to stay off right through, but we can't afford to financially. I have spoken to my midwife about my sciatica (so bad I am going upstairs on my hands and knees) but she insists the symptoms will lessen when I'm at work. Anyone experienced this? I had SPD during my last pg so have heard all those guidelines.
By the way, I've heard that tonic water is good for cramp, can't say I've checked out its suitability in pg tho.
Enjoy NYD everyone! :)

digitalgirl · 01/01/2012 10:21

Happy New Year!

Tinwe wow, that is a close age gap! Perhaps midwife thinks as you'll not be bending down so much to pick up your baby/change nappies etc the sciatia should ease off? Not an area I'm familiar with but perhaps worth posting in the pregnancy section to see if anyone else had similar?

I'm planning on working up to mid March - think 15th might be my last day. That's only 2.5 months away, eek! Think I'll be just under 36 weeks - but ds came at 36+5 so anticipating similar.

Happy New Year to everyone - 2012 is our year!!!

Was a bit worried yesterday as almost no kicks but he feels more himself today (= kicking) although I have to say it's only at certain times of day not like before when it could be any time. I read that the sleeping patterns are now being established, which means awake he's only 6hrs now.

NYE was great, good fun with friends and I even managed to stay up till 2am. Great!!

I'm planning to work as long as possible, a colleague of mine worked till Friday and gave birth on Saturday. We really need the money and I'd like to stay at home for a while!

Have you decided on names yet???

bushymcbush · 01/01/2012 22:58

Happy new year April mummies!

Thalela I'm impressed with your NYE partying. I was in bed by 11pm! DH was working so it was just me and 3yo DD. Who was also asleep!

Good question about names. I'm having another DD. We like traditional names and our list at the moment includes Martha and Alice. When we had DD1 we chose a name we hadn't even shortlisted though, so who knows? I do know people who decide for definite before the baby is born, but I want to see her before we make our minds up.

VintageNancy · 02/01/2012 18:09

Happy New Year! I can't believe I'm going to be a mummy (or mommy now I guess!) in April.

We had decided on names but we both went off the girl's name. So I came up with another one but DH doesn't "love it". I've told him he can come up with some options now as all he does is say no to my suggestions.

I do sometimes wonder if we should have found out the gender. There's always a chance at our first US appointment...

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 02/01/2012 18:53

Hello and happy new year to all!
I've not been on much, been distracted sorting out the boys bedroom Grin

guinealady · 02/01/2012 20:31

HNY - I have only just found this thread and I have an April baby too.

She is kicking and wriggling away most evenings and usually wakes me up with a good kick or two at 7am.

So excited to think I am having a baby THIS YEAR but before she arrives there is the small matter of getting married to deal with first. So much still to be done!

Yummymummyyobe1 · 02/01/2012 21:05

We are expecting DS1 on April 29th and I am the size of a small house.

I am sure that I will explode if I get any bigger. xx

Thaleia · 03/01/2012 10:20

I should have mentioned bushy that I slept for 6hrs in the morning and afternoon to make it till 2am Wink

Just found out that the name we like - Kai (or Kay, which is also a possible spelling) - is supposedly a chav name in the UK. Back in Germany it's a normal boys name, slightly out of fashion as ranked at 142 in the names statistic, so not sure if I'm really fussed about it or not. At some point we want to go back anyway so does it really matter?

BTW some people back home heard of Wayne Roony and and nobody knows Danniella Westbrook Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/01/2012 12:23

I only know of two Kai's Thaleia, both mums are youngish, but not necessarily chavvy. :)

The names that me and DH like are slightly predictable naice middle class names, same type of name as DS. My family love them, but FIL is insisting that DS2 will be picked on in school :(
He also doesnt like DSs name either.

His other DGS is called Jack, he likes that.

digitalgirl · 03/01/2012 14:44

Oo names! We're thinking another Italian name to match DS (I'm half Italian and ds has my Italian surname and baby will probably take my surname too). Problem is, if it's a boy most Italian names either sound like footballers or waiters! No shortage of beautiful girls names we love.
