Join us as we head out of the secretive, scary, slightly sicky first trimester and into the bump emerging, supposedly blossoming, energy boosting second trimester.

Me and MrK have started a sort of tradition of going for an Asda café cooked breakfast after having a scan now! But have never been offered so much as a cup of tea at the hospital.

digitalgirl · 12/10/2011 11:49

I have itchy nipples today. Just thought I'd share Grin

Good luck today puddingchef

Hi everyone

Just popping in to say hello! I see you have a nice shiney new thread, full of 100% positive stuff I'm sure! Still not resisting the urge to see how you are doing and where you are all up... We are starting to try again this month and a bit apprehensive, but reading your lovely positive scan stories has made me feel better about it all!

Hope 2nd trimester treats you all very well!! Smile

JellytotZ · 12/10/2011 13:13

KatAndKit · 12/10/2011 13:13

Ah good luck whenskies I hope you won't be ttc again for long. Nice of you to say hello and hope you are doing well.

cheaperthantherapy · 12/10/2011 13:49

Hi everyone,

Fab to hear about the good scan results :)

Ours was fab- although DH stressed me out by going to Kingston instead of Queen Marys, calling me to ask where I was in the ultrasound department and racing over to Queen Marys... nearly missing the whole scan Confused

I'm not sure if I'm the only one - but have spent an inordinate amount of time staring at the scan pictures trying to work out if the 'nub theory' applies to my little one and if I can tell if it's a boy or a girl... I'm 90 % it's DD2 :)

AprilAl · 12/10/2011 14:44

Hi everyone and welcome Hotpotpie

Great to hear all these positive scan stories, keep em coming! We just got the results of our combined nuchal and bloods screening in the post today: 1 in 70615 so that's quite a relief given that, as my doctor very helpfully pointed out, I'm "no spring chicken reproductively". Dead chuffed :)

Lovely to hear from you whenskies, really nice of you to drop in on us. Good luck with the ttc, enjoy! Looking forward to you popping back again to tell us some good news Wink

newmummyvicky · 12/10/2011 16:42

Its nice to hear from you whenskies hope you are keeping well?

Im just over 16 weeks now, and finding it hard to sleep at night has anyone brought a pregnancy pillow yet? Im putting a normal one behind me and in front to try me sleeping on my back, which i keep doing! and still having really weird dreams, like every night!
I've still felt no movement yet, but waiting for the day! cant wait.

Ive been buying a few mat clothes mainly just legging and long large tops and been wearing my jeans low, as im really getting a small bump now? i did get some nice mat jumpers from H and M. My work uniform is getting really tight now, so i need to buy some more uniform, my company says i cant spend up to £70 and claim it back. I plan to go shopping this week as i have a nice week off.
I plan to leave in mid feb, seeing how it goes! and going take 12 months off.

How is everyone bump growing? lol
Im now waiting for results from my downs symdrome results, the mw saids a should get them in a few weeks.

newmummyvicky · 12/10/2011 16:55

vintageNancy i had my mw apointment last week although i was only 15 weeks, the mw couldnt pick up the heartbeat but did hear some kicks and movements.

If u wait till 16wk you are more likely to hear it! although i borrowed my friends dopplers and seem to pick it up. sounded a bit like a running train, quite a fast heart beat.

The Midwives dont like these home Dopplers!
the one that you buy and they sometimes they say you are lisen to your own heart beat or the platcenta!
But i think they are a good idea and put your mind at rest. But dont pannic if you cant hear it, some they hid!

Thumbelina79 · 12/10/2011 17:24

I went to the lou at work - which I do frequently. But anway I really struggled to do up my trousers. Trousers that were falling off me 4 months ago! I laughed out loud. There is such a thing as good fat. Hubby sent for curry... yay! Feeling so much better. Yipeeeeeeeee

Thumbelina79 · 12/10/2011 17:26

ps itchy nipples too.

Love the sea monkey!

LaTristesse · 12/10/2011 17:36

Itchy nips here too - glad I'm not alone!

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 12/10/2011 18:02

176 days to go... Grin

No itchy nipples, but boobs have decided to be sore again. Was only really my nipples that were sore early on, but now the entire boob aches?

I'm having a nightmare sleeping vicky I have to have three pillows (one under my head, one to cuddle/go under belly and one between my knees) But I still wake up loads. Not for any reason really, not weeing all night or anything, just very fidgety...

My DH has decided to get very interested in the 16w Downs test (that I'm not having). He wasnt interested at all when we had DS? He's paranoid about "preparing"...

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 12/10/2011 19:16

Btw, my DS made me laugh and I felt I should share... Grin

I say "where's the baba" and point to my belly
He gives my belly a kiss
I say "there is a baba in mammys belly"
He says "yes"
I say "do you understand?"
He says "yes"
"are you sure?"
"yes"

HollyPockett · 12/10/2011 20:21

Evening all Smile

No itchy nipples here but my boobs are really hot!

That and my gag reflex is non existent, brushing my teeth is hard work Sad

SurprisEs · 12/10/2011 20:28

Hi everyone!

No itchy nipples here but I can certainly relate to the uncomfortable nights. I will be buying a pregnancy pillow as soon as I have money. Didn't buy one last time and poor DH ended up with no pillows as I needed one for every part of my body.

Sickness is gone, back ache is gone and I feel slightly more productive. Still can't go without the naps (2 a day unless we go out) but DD has been really good at sitting next to me watching tv (thanks for the suggestion) for a short period of time. She is also sleeping again! I'm so glad because she was beginning to look ill.

I'm not sure on the definition of sinusitis, is it possible to have clear nostrils but to feel blocked a bit more up the nose? Near the eyes if that's possible. It really bothers me.

Slightly panicky as a huge bill came up and the money I was going to use to get started on baby stuff is gone. Fed up of being jobless and skint. Sorry, moan moan moan Blush

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 12/10/2011 20:46

Sounds like sinusitis to me, i feel it almost under my eyes when I get it :(

SurprisEs · 12/10/2011 21:14

I had it last pregnancy but this time it's really bothering me. Sometimes I have to take really deep breaths. Sprays aren't working, they just burn my nostrils.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 12/10/2011 21:16

:( doctors in the morning?

SurprisEs · 12/10/2011 21:27

Haven't thought of that. I just assumed that sprays are the only thing for it otherwise you had to deal with it. I'll definitly go. DD loves going because of the playroom but goes crazy as soon as we get in the practitioners room. Fun.

Your son seem adamant he knows what's coming. Or maybe he thinks the baby will stay there forever.

Hotpotpie · 13/10/2011 09:09

Can you maybe try a little eucalyptus oil on your pillow see if that helps with your sinuses SurprisEs? not had it myself but my dad really suffered last year and he found that it worked

I was naughty this week and nipped to ikea to have a nosy at the baby stuff, well I went for meatballs and ended up in the baby section, ive seen some lovely little things and reasonably prices but resisted buying, Im 6 months on new years eve so thinking that I may as well take advantage of the sales :)

Also managed to tell my mum without any hissy fit that Im thinking of a home birth if I can, was very surprised at her reaction shes normally very anti stuff like that - is anyone else home birthing?

Bearcrumble · 13/10/2011 10:02

SurprisEs - it sounds like Rhinitis of pregnancy. www.babycenter.com/0_stuffy-nose-during-pregnancy_1076.bc

Great news on all the good scan results.

I am finding that I wake up about 5 with a really full bladder, get up, go to the loo, come back to bed and then toss and turn without going back to sleep until DS wakes at 6.30. It's making me grumpy and frustrated. My mind just starts whirring and I can't shut it up. This morning I finally felt myself drifting off just as DS started shouting 'Mummee'.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 13/10/2011 10:31

SuprisEs I think its more that "yes" is his favourite word at the moment [hgrin]

Hotpot No home birth for me, but I'm under consultant care atm. Will have an emergency plan for one just in case though (make sure I have lots of hot water and towels??) as DS was quick so DC2 could well shoot out with one contraction... [faints with panic]

Bear DH got up with DS this morning so I could have a lie in. I couldnt get back to sleep either [hangry]

Jealous of everyone looking at baby stuff. Really cant justify buying anything, the pram, car seat and moses basket are still immaculate and DS will move into a bed when DC2 goes into the cot...
I've already stocked up on toiletries that were on offer, and started getting a stack of maternity pads. Only really got nappies left to get and technically I'm ready. Might need to get some new BF nighties though, I have one on now and DH just pointed out that he can see my bum where its shrunk from a year of tumbling!! [hgrin]

Hotpotpie · 13/10/2011 11:19

aww beyond we have a cot and a pram I was more looking at the little things TBH like the baby snuggledowns and little bits for in the cot -Im under strict instructions to buy nothing more than I need, god men are practical and boring Grin I have grand plans to crochet lots of pretty blankets because he has not idea that they count as spending he he

Id love to think one contraction and my baby will be out, now thats my sort of labour!

VintageNancy · 13/10/2011 11:37

Beyond I can look but I can't buy - under strict instructions to not buy anything until we get the US. We did relent and buy a cute bunny the other day but that's all I'm allowed.

I'm crocheting a blanket too hotpot :)

I think I felt some flutters last night. After a busy day I was just sitting on the sofa and felt something that I definitely haven't felt before. Could've been imagining things though.
