oh and mumofwilliam - I was watching the baking too last night. Good final. So glad for Jo; I cried when she won!

Good news on the scans surprisEs and nordicmom

nordic when do you fly out for the 12 week scan? Can't be long now.

I had a glucose tolerance test this morning - thankfully was just a fasting test so didn't have to drink that horrible sugar solution. Felt a bit of a fraud sitting in the waiting room with other pregnant ladies, some of them having scans.

Have started weaning off the steroids too, and beginning to feel a little more tired during the day. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep better at night soon. 6 days till my scan...

A nice shiny new thread :)

I'm now exactly 13 weeks!

Had our scan yesterday, and all is well! Little Pip did a little dance for us and looked right at the camera at one point, the picture is a little weird though, "she" looks like an alien!

The ever present nausea has gone thank God and I'm feeling great this week - tons of energy which is v welcome. I had a week of migraines last week and they absolutely crippled me. Not fun at all

Bearcrumble · 05/10/2011 13:43

I had my scan this morning. All fine, including the blood test that was low last time. I am so happy - I just keep saying 'thank you' to God/the Universe/whatever. Also the sonographer said 80% sure it was a girl.

kat2504 · 05/10/2011 13:45

Great news bearcrumble and am impressed you got a good gender guess already! my pic was so fuzzy you can only see that it is indeed a baby. Never mind, I'll be having scans at 20, 24, 28 and 32 weeks so I've got plenty of time to find out!

Also congrats to hollypocket one of my pics looked a bit alien like too! and glad you are feeling better now hopefully the nausea is gone for good.

Nordicmom · 05/10/2011 14:53

SurprisEs the scan wasn't very clear but it was baby shaped and I was glad to be able to see my baby for the first time since we haven't seen the earlier scans. Next scan is in two weeks at 12 w .I 'm hoping to get better pictures then ! With my son I do remember that you could see quite a lot in that one... I couldn't help getting something for the baby yesterday since it's been such a long wait and I've sacrificed so much to have one . Can't bear to think what if something goes wrong:( I don't think I could take much more ,we've been through so much .
Not sure if we will go for the 12w scan or just for 20+ in January with our son when we have more time to spend there ( Texas) . It' s far away to fly and then drive for one day in my current condition which isn't great . I have joint and muscle pains etc daily so sitting in a plane for over 10 h isn't good for me. On the other hand would be nice to be present at the scan ... We're still deciding . If we go it'll be in about 2 weeks during DS half term that for his school starts on 17.10. and is 2 weeks long.

Thaleia · 05/10/2011 17:01

I just googled morning sickness "11 weeks" - which will be tomorrow (according to my calculation) and apparently, it'll ease off by the end of the week. I can not believe it as I feel sicker than before. My tummy is hurting like it's stretching, I've got the pulling on the right hand side and I look like a lead balloon. I'm not taking pregnancy vitamins anymore, only folic acid because the other ones make me vomit so hard that I can't even cry myself to sleep afterwards.

So tell me, 2nd trimesters - all good now?

I have to fly to Germany tomorrow so will probably though up in the plane for the first time since flying. Oh joy.

UniPsychle · 05/10/2011 20:15

Poor Thaleia. For me, it did really start to ease off at 11 weeks, but it hasn't gone all together by 13 weeks. I think it's now more heartburn/indigestion fueled; I am now burping like a fat bloke after pie and beer. I had this all through last time and am going to see the GP to see if there's anything other than Rennies that I can take as they don't really work and taste minging. I do hope yours gets better soon. Folates is still all you really need for now, so long as you've got some calcium in your diet and are getting plenty of sunlight (vitamin d). Iron is the stuff that irritates your tummy and you don't need that till later. The pulling sounds like round ligament pain and it is literally stretching. Had me worried sick first time round, but now grit teeth and ignore it. Hope you feel better soon and good luck on the plane.

Congratulations on all the good scan results. Envious of those of you who are beginning to feel energetic and glowy, I still feel like a sea slug with a headcold!

newmummyvicky · 05/10/2011 20:23

hi girlies,

Im over 15 weeks and havent had feeling of sickness for quite a while, also been a lot less hungy!

I had a midwife on monday and she tried to hear the babies heart beat, but we couldnt pick it up, But did heard some kicks which was really nice.
I was also told im prone to (Rubella) maybe because i didnt measles as a kid! not sure?
Anyone else had this problem?
ive been told its no big thing, i just have to stay away from people with chicken pox and measles!!! and i need the MMR jab after i give birth!

Also anyone felt movemonts yet? or do you think it to early! i havent yet.
So pleased to hear nice things about your scans, cant wait till my 20 wk one now, its booked for Nov the 8th. x

SurprisEs · 05/10/2011 20:34

I don't feel the xonatant nausea I felt before but I am a lot more tired and only feel relatively "normal" if I'm in bed.

For the ones who have toddlers I have a question: I NEED to nap, can't help it. If i don't nap i start to feel sick and really can't cope with the rest of the day. DD is 2 yrs old but she rarely naps now. I've managed to convince her to cuddle with me and go to sleep a few times. But if she naps she won't fall asleep until about midnight/1am. She diesn't refuse to sleep, she lays in bed, no fuss, but can't sleep and so ends up going toilet alot and I can't fall asleep knowing she's awake. She climns up things and knows hoe to open doors and safety gates so I'm scared she might do something dangerours if I sleep.

How did you cope? Any ideas? I really can't skip the nap. I did it a few times and it resulted in vomiting or a massive headache and me not being able to be productive the rest of the day.

I feel like a wingy old cow... Blush

SurprisEs · 05/10/2011 20:37

newmummyvicky. Hi! I haven't felt movement, it't too early for me but last time I began to feel something around 16 weeks.

The 20 week scan is my favourite! Tou get to see all the organs and I found it fascinating. Also the fingers and toes were sooo clear.

SurprisEs · 05/10/2011 20:40

Had a phone call and was told I wasn't successful at the interview. No surprise. I don't blame them. Next time I just won't mention anything as I think the job centre's advise wasn't the best.

UniPsychle · 05/10/2011 21:00

SurprisEs sorry about the job, they don't know what they're missing. Re: naps, can you nap anywhere there is a telly? I have a telly in our bedroom and have been known to drift off for a little power nap whilst DS watches cbeebies in bed with me. Because I'm in the bed with him, I feel confident that I'd wake if he tries to escape (and I have woken on the few occasions that Mr Bloom failed to captivate him for a whole twenty minutes). Shameful parenting, I know, but God I need it some days. Am also trying to put him to bed a bit later and encourage him out of bed at a decent hour so that he needs a nap more - I aim for an early nap to avoid the awake till 10pm thing. Am currently having an easy ride as he has a cold and needs a decent nap, but am feeling horribly guilty for being secretly pleased that he is ill and therefore easier to look after.

SurprisEs · 05/10/2011 21:14

I'll try the tv idea. I live in a studio flat so the living room, parents room and DD's room are basicly the same! Just hope I don't go into such a deep sleep that I won't notice her going in the kitchen and turning the hob on (have caught her doing that before!).

She wakes up between 8:30 and 9:30 no matter what time she goes to sleep. She dowsn't go to bed later than 9:30pm but lately she won't axtually fall asleep until ver late, even though she is in bed. Yesterday she went to nursery. She woke up at 7:30 because we had to leave the house early and they said she refused to nap and only fell asleep at 1am.

Twittle · 05/10/2011 23:51

SupriesEs re. naps not sure if you have one or you have space but what about a play pen or travel cot that doubles as one with lots of toys in or just your DD's normal cot with toys in, will she not play in that for half an hour while you have a lie down?? Luckily my 14mo DS mostly has a sleep in the afternoon but if he doesn't I've still kept on putting him in his cot and he plays around in it, looks like a bomb site half an hour later but as you say safer than letting him roam around the house generally getting up to mischief!! Sorry to hear about the job too, fingers crossed for the next interview!

SurprisEs · 05/10/2011 23:57

DD is 2yrs old so she'd pribably come out of the playpen. She climbs up my chest of draws to reach for stuff. I'm making her sound terrible! She isn't, just too inquisitive and ALWAYS finds a way to do whatever it is she's aiming for. She sleeps in a bed and never slept in a cot. Bu thabks fr the suggestion. :)

I'm not upset about the job, mainly because I expected it. Live and learn I suppose.

nickymills · 06/10/2011 07:01

so nice to hear about all your scans!

Had mine yesterday, and i;m 14 weeks + 5! my bloody gp was closer than the mw. Mw said i was around 12 weeks, so know i can't have my first lot of bloods done; because i;m to far gone! Just glad she isn't my mw. Got another me appoint in the next few days, so will be speaking to them about home births again xxx

LaTristesse · 06/10/2011 09:05

Funny you should say that newmummyvicky, I swear I felt the baby move last night! I thought it might be a bit early - it was 17 weeks last time before I felt anything, but apparently it can be sooner with subsequent children... very exciting!

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 06/10/2011 11:27

I'm 14 weeks today and convinced I've felt baba move. Felt it quite early with DS too, so I guess its possible?

Bearcrumble · 06/10/2011 12:13

SurprisEs can you zip her in a baby sleeping bag so she can't climb?

Uglymush · 06/10/2011 17:34

Hi All
Had my first day back at work today in nearly 3 weeks. I am not shattered and can't wait for sleep time :)
It is great to hear everyones possitive news

SurprisEs · 06/10/2011 19:32

Uglimush hope your day at work was good, must be nice to get back in the swing of things.

Bearcrumble she can do and undo her own coat, zipper or buttons. But thanks for the suggestion. I convinced her to nap with me but I made it very early in the day, so I'm hoping she'll go to bed at a reasonnable time today. She used to... Hmm

Ains16 · 06/10/2011 19:41

Hi, can I join your group? I am 11 + 3 at the moment but am not booked in for my scan for another 2 wks so ages away to get dates confirmed and am kind of expecting to get put back a week or so.

So strange all the talk of jobs, etc with what SurprisEs is going through, I found out days before my interview I was pregnant and didnt mention it as was so early, I knew that it was a job that was made for me and didnt want to scare them off either. The next day they offered me the job and of course I accepted it........feel so guilty!! I started with them 2 wks ago and still havent mentioned it - partly cos my scan is another 2 wks off and have had a mmc in the past. My plan is to tell them the Mon following my scan which is on a Fri, which luck be have it I dont work. I did speak to citizens advice and they recommended not telling future employer, that its not their right to know seemingly and they cant ask any questions about future baby plans etc. Sorry for long post, once I start I cant stop lol!

mumofwilliam · 06/10/2011 20:02

hi
nice to hear others with movement - i swear i felt it move earlier this week - 14 weeks. can't remember when it was last time but definately later!

Re sex - my ultrasound lady at 12 weeks said all babies look like girls til 16 weeks as thats when boys bits grow. no idea if true?

Also can i rant a bit about men!!
My DH was with me when we booked the appt for the next scan but stupidly didn't write it down - i just happened to say last night you do have it in your diary - he had double booked work thing that he couldn't change! so annoying - luckily have managed to rebook the scan for a week later (bit late but ok) . Why are men so rubbish......

SurprisEs · 06/10/2011 20:31

Ains16 Welcome and congratulations!
Yeah, I've learn from the last interview not to tell them about my pregnancy. But then when do you mention it? It will become obvious! And if it's within probation they can easily get rid of me, so I'd rather not get past the interview than getting the boot again... So confused!

mumofwilliam my husband annoyed me today too.
I can't reach the place where we need to hang our laundry, so i do all the chores but leave the hanging of the laundry up to him. Always have. Today he kept putting it off and now he's sleeping so the clothes will smell in the machine and have to be washed again! I know he's tired but it's not a difficult thing for him to do!!! Men are rubbish.
