Welcome to all the newbies. This is a large thread now, lots of us together for moral support. Hope everyone is feeling well xx

working9while5 · 16/10/2011 15:49

Oh my God, I am so tired! Fine upuntil today, went to Blackpool Illuminations yesterday and walked and walked for miles, totally full of beans. Feel like I have been tearing up the town for a fortnight. Welcome, early pregnancy fatigue!

Kayzr · 16/10/2011 16:48

Wow!! It's getting very busy in here [hgrin] congratulations to all new comers.

Feeling much better today, back to just waves of nausea. With DS1 I moaned a bit that it didn't feel like a proper pregnancy as I had no morning sickness. Now I thoroughly wish I could have a sickness free pregnancy again.

ReadySteadyDrink · 16/10/2011 17:09

Hi,

Is anyone feeling extra hungry? I am constantly feeling peckish. I got GD last time (I wasn't and am not overweight), so I don't want to each too much and put on too much weight. But don't want to cause any MS...

:)

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 16/10/2011 17:41

ReadySteady - yeah, I'm always hungry. Really quite bad as I am hugely overweight anyway and was doing really well on my diet! I'm keeping an eye on my calories without trying to obsess, if you know what I mean - not a case of dieting, just not wanting to go a million miles over maintenance cals if I can avoid it. Really want a homebirth, assuming all goes well, but think the midwife might flinch because of my weight. Think it's putting my blood pressure up just thinking about what she's going to say!

Florin · 16/10/2011 17:46

I am shattered too feel like I have been hit by a bus. Have had afternoon naps over the weekend no idea how I am going to manged a full week at work.
Welcome to everyone else who has joined lovely to all go through it together.
Is anyone else paying for a scan at 8 weeks? We have decided to as it has taken us so long ttc we want to check baby as soon as possible. Even the three weeks until 8 week scan seems miles away. Every day seems to drag past, hoping time speeds up!

Kayzr · 16/10/2011 18:02

Seriously I was really overweight with DS2. At least 4 stone over the high end of the 'safe' weight for my height and they never said anything about it for my home birth.

I'm hoping the weight of DS2 won't go against me for my home birth this time.

working9while5 · 16/10/2011 18:17

We haven't decided about early scan yet but veering towards not that early for us, or maybe 10-11 weeks. I know NHS scan isn't that clear and I would like to be able to look straight at the screen and see what's happening straight away, NHS scans where they look and often don't really show you slightly terrify me!

Miniangel · 16/10/2011 18:38

kayzr Sorry to hear your feeling unwell. Hope you feel better soon.

Mama - Hope it all goes well tomorrow.

Florin I am going to pay for a early scan. I have waited so long and was on clomid privately so will have this scan privately too. My scan is booked for 24th Oct. I can't wait.

I have been feeling extremely tired and hungry all the time.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 16/10/2011 18:39

Kayzr - that's good to know, thanks. Hoping I get a lovely, supportive midwife. Also investigating IM in case that seems like an option, but I suspect the cost will be prohibitve!

Florin - don't think we'll go for an early scan, but haven't put much thought into it yet. Think I'll see how things go when I contact the midwife for a booking in appt in a few weeks.

Kayzr · 16/10/2011 18:40

Seriously I was thinking about an IM too or a doula as DP works away so I'm not on my own.

working9while5 · 16/10/2011 18:43

I am also looking at a doula. I feel a bit funny about it because I'm Irish and everyone at home would think I had turned into a NUTTER (not that that should really matter, but I suppose maybe I worry I am NUTTER for wanting one!). There is a doula locally who is also an IM, and can do a "half way" package... I think I will go for a hospital birth but I want someone there!

Miniangel · 16/10/2011 18:43

Welcome all the newbies. Congratulations. It would be great to go through this journey together.

Florin · 16/10/2011 20:19

miniangel my story is virtually the same as yours been paying for private gynae and I have been on clomid 100mg. Going to ring my gynae specialist tomorrow to get an appointment booked in, so want to just get that scan done and for it to be ok.
Has anybody told people yet? We are planning on telling parents this week. Told some close friends at the weekend. All very exciting.

Kayzr · 16/10/2011 20:28

We've just been told that DP is being picked up at half 4 in the morning to go back to work Sad

biglips · 16/10/2011 20:39

kayr....what a bummer....but im sure he'll be home before you know it.

im tired now as been to my mums today for a massive tea as per usual...Grin and im not too bad but will start to feel it in a few weeks time...bah!!

no not told anyone as yet, will do in the next 2 wks.

im off to bed for a read...nites x

GarrottingItLaldy · 16/10/2011 20:50

:( Kayzr.

Florin...so far, only DP and my best friend (who is also pregnant) know. I feel like I want to keep it just between us for now and we'll tell parents in a few weeks once we've had time to get used to the idea a bit more.

What is with all these symptoms, though? Up until I got a BFP 2 days ago I was convinced I wasn't pregnant because I had no symptoms at all. Within 48 hours, I have cold-like symptoms (stuffy/runny nose), insomnia, waves of nausea, sore boobs, hot flushes, dizziness and, possibly worst of all, the thought of chocolate turns my stomach [hshock]. Ordinarily, I am the world's biggest chocoholic.

birdofthenorth · 16/10/2011 20:50

Brilliant to see such a full bus for June!

Mama very best of luck tomorrow, you have the June sisterhood wishing you all the best

Dalrymps · 16/10/2011 20:54

Hey everyone, my all day morning sickness has finally begun, groan! Started at exactly 6 weeks so only put up with it for 4 days so far. No vomiting, just nausea and eating regularly seems to helpSmile

On a very sad note, my best friend of 16yrs (who also is my sil) was two weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy has lost her baby as it was an ectopic pregnancy Sad She was rushed to a and e and her tube had begun to rupture. She had internal bleeding and dangerously low blood pressure. Anyway, they operated quickly and she is thankfully ok. Well, as ok as she can be right nowSad I am utterly devastated for her and have been wishing for a few days I wasn't pg at all as I felt so guilty this happened to her and not me when she has no children and I have 2 (+ one on the way). She is recovering at home now, can't ttc again for 6 months as has to heal from surgery.

So that's why I haven't posted for a few days. Just trying to get my head round all that.

Florin · 16/10/2011 21:11

dalrymps your poor sister inlaw that is awful. Hope she feels better soon, but please don't feel guilty about your pregnancy.
garrottingitlaldy I know what you mean since I've got my bfp it's like my body is working systematically down the list of symtoms! I keep trying to think its a positive as a sign I am pregnant.
How many tests has everyone done I did one (first response) on Friday and it came up instantly positive. Everyone else seems to have done loads wonder if I should do more now!

GarrottingItLaldy · 16/10/2011 21:37

Dalymps, so sorry for what your SIL is going through. Hoping she recovers well and is able to start her family soon.

Florin, I did a test (Internet cheapie) around Tuesday or so and hot BFN and thought that was that. When period was still absent by Friday, I did another Internet cheapie and got the faintest of lines (wasn't FMU and I always drink rather a lot of water so probably not optimal conditions for testing). I followed that up immediately with a First Response which showed a faint but definite line. Saturday morning, did a CB digital and got 'Pregnant 1-2'. And just because I'm a bit obsessive about peeing on sticks, I did another Internet cheapie this morning and got a very clear positive. I will stop when I run out of Internet cheapies now, promise Grin.

If the symptoms are this bad now, what are the next 8 months going to be like?! < clueless first timer>

Florin · 16/10/2011 22:35

I have some Internet cheapies but to scared to do then incase my first was a fluke! Will try and do one tomorrow as might set my mind at rest. I tested last weekend (few days early) and got a bfn then kept putting it off even though I thought I was pregnant and finally dh bullied me into testing Friday. Line came up straight away and is a good strong line so it can't be wrong right?

GarrottingItLaldy · 17/10/2011 00:49

False positives are extremely rare so its really unlikely that its wrong but i'd say go on, florin, do another test and put your mind at rest.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 17/10/2011 07:02

Kayzr & working9while5 - will be interested to hear how your thoughts go on the doula / IM path. There's a woman where I work that trained as a doula, but don't think I can cope with having someone from work there. Grin

Florin - only told my best friend and her DH so far. She's pregnanat two, although a couple of months ahead of me. We won't tell family for another couple of months and I'm really not sure when to tell work if I'm honest!

Kayzr - sorry your DH has gone back to work again today. Hope the time goes quick for you until he's back.

Dalrymps - so sorry to hear about your best friend.Sad

GarrottingIt - I've been nauseous since about 2dpo so really not trying to think about the next 8 months! Although at the moment, I'm more bitter about trying to 'do the right thing' - I was feeling extremely bitter yesterday about having to restrict my tea intake (I normally drink a lot - and they're big mugs!) and have a body temp bath (I normally like my baths boiling hot!). Looks like I'll stick to showers for the rest of this pregnancy; a luke warm bath is just not that much fun.

Florin · 17/10/2011 08:00

I tested again and it came up positive so two tests can't be wrong! Grin
I had the Luke warm bath last night too.
Our best friends are newly pregnant to went out to a restaurant and we went through the menu saying can't have that can't have that, at the moment its still quite funny although I am sure the novelty will wear off very soon. Especially as my family always have very rare beef fillet for christmas dinner-might suggest goose for this year if all goes well!
