Have a lovely wedding mn2. I'm going to a wedding today but it's not yours and it won't be half as lovely Grin :)

Joannezipan · 02/04/2011 10:16

Congratulations Mummy I hope your day is wonderfully filled with joy!

Jas Yesterday you we going to pour veg soup at them...i'd say this is your ideal chance!

I Slept again, Husband didn't have to retreat to the spare bed and this morning i'm starting to feel alive again. We will see if my good luck holds! My friend is coming for a shopping day today. I'm excited to see her, we haven't had a chance to meet up since I found out I am pregnant. She is very excited to meet the bump and see the nursery progress. Husband is doing the final touch ups today and then tomorrow there will be carpets, blinds and curtains. It is going to be soooooo nice! Yay.

I hope everyone has a lovely sunny day, it's looking good over here in East Anglia.

((Hugs))

I am definitely on a downwards miserable spiral at the moment, it's crap. Feeling like being P is holding me back - just trying to carry a couple of bags of shopping back yesterday gave me a painful stitch, and I'm knackered all of the time. I feel cooped up and I really want my old life back - going out dancing, doing photography, lots of wine and fun with friends. And then I feel guilty because we were trying for a baby for a year and that was a miserable time, so I feel like I should be so grateful. I am excited most of the time, and I would be devastated if anything were to go wrong - but there is a part of me that is fed up and has the Fear that from now on I will only be defined as a mum.

Another 9 weeks of this, urgh.

One thing has made me chuckle though - the power of two frazzled baby/pregnancy brains. My friend has a 2 month old DD and sent me an email which mentioned that it was her birthday this weekend. I rushed to get her a card posted out in time. She texted me sheepishly yesterday to say that she'd meant to say it was her friend's birthday, but realised she had written it all wrong - and then I remembered hers was in December anyhow. D'oh!

NurseSunshine · 02/04/2011 11:39

Happy wedding day MN2 and Mr MN2-to-be Have a lovely day :)

Joanne how on earth are you being so organised when you've had approximately 25 seconds to prepare?! My "nursery" is still just my spare room/office but with piles of baby things stacked up everywhere! Have decided I'm not painting until baby is born just in case the sonographer was wrong and a little boy pops out instead!

Supersunny I haven't been to a meeting or read the book, would you recommend it? Are any other first timers worrying about breastfeeding if you're planning it? I am a bit.

NurseSunshine · 02/04/2011 11:47

Sorry x post nomore. Sorry you're feeling down, if it's any consolation I am feeling exactly the same, happy, excited, petrified, achey, tired, huge and basically sick of being pregnant. I think it's probably pretty normal in the last few weeks, no matter how planned or wanted your baby is :)

nomoreheels · 02/04/2011 11:50

Thanks NS. Yeah, I keep telling myself it's all normal... just hate feeling down, it's like a black hole in my head that I want to shake, but I'm too tired to get out and do anything to try and shift it!

As I read somewhere else on this forum - the best thing about pregnancy is your baby, and the worst thing is being pregnant.

Clarkiee · 02/04/2011 11:58

Sorry you're feeling so down at the moment nomoreheels. I sometimes I feel down too. I can't wait to meet my babies but I'm also dreading the first couple of weeks (they sound like hell).
People keep saying 'OMG I bet you are so excited' and I really am but I am also shitting myself!!

Anyone getting swollen hands and feet? It just feels like its come from nowhere and its very uncomfortable. I had to run my feet under the freezing cold tap last night so I could get my boots on Blush! My face is still normal so not thinking its PE. Hope it carries on getting sunny so I can get my flip flops on!

Think we have decided on names Grin but still telling anyone who asks (which they are always doing) that we have a list going.

NurseSunshine · 02/04/2011 11:59

haha that sounds about right. I know I feel as though I should be "enjoying" every minute of my pregnancy but I'm just so damn tired all the time and I'm so sick of getting out of breath when I walk up stairs, or get up from a chair or do something else I used not to even think about. I feel like I'll feel better when I'm on maternity leave maybe. Are you still working?

nomoreheels · 02/04/2011 12:12

No - I've been off on sick leave and started ML as early as possible! You'd think that would make everything ok (and I certainly can't imagine coping with full time work at the moment, I genuinely take my hat off to those ladies who can carry on) but it has its downside in terms of being in the house too much and needing a change of scene.

Clarkiee, I feel like my feet, ankles and calves are a bit puffy. DP says no but I can see (and feel) that they are. I can't wait until it's warm enough to stick to my birkies.

jasmine51 · 02/04/2011 12:30

Quick reminder ladies re Mothers Day, dont forget. Its bedlam at the flower counter in Sainsburys so get in there quick. How funny to think this will be our last year just buying cards and flowers for others and not receiving them ourselves.

Busy day - just picked up a cot top changer from a Gumtree seller and off this pm oop north to pick up a maternity clothes bundle bought on ebay

Clarkiee and Nomore are your swollen bits actually swollen or are they just tingling? I feel like my left hand is swollen - it isnt because my rings arent any tighter but its tingling and slightly numb as if it is.

Had a bit of a tantrum at bed time last night. Just felt so uncomfortable, my old baggy, still fit pj pants gave up the ghost and my other pair are suddenly to tight, lying on my side is uncomfortable and the towel under my waist was annoying and flew across the room and unhelpful. Besides which I am getting chronically bored in the evenings, but we're broke and have to save all our spare money for impending move to god knows where. DH is lucky I didn't get into bed and start kicking him if I'm honest!

Hope MN2 has had a lovely wedding today and everyone else is having a relaxing, non grumpus Saturday. Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/04/2011 17:25

Quick post from me just to wish Mummynumber a happy wedding day!

sasamaxx · 02/04/2011 18:36

Yes Clarkiee: swollen fingers - can't get rings on, swollen wrists - can't get watch on and swollen calves (the worst) - can't get long boots on, or crouch down as agony

Sorry you're feeling so down nomoreheels - I've been feeling pretty down too. Sometimes I wonder if pregnancy hormones actually give you a mild depression. It's depressing. I can't wait for birkie weather either - it makes life so much easier. Does anyone know if TK Maxx have any in yet, and if so, what style?

Supersunnyday I've never read 'the womanly art' although I always want to - I think it is absolutely FULL of info so I wouldn't let it overwhelm you if possible.

Nursesunshine - don't worry about bfing - lots of midwives and health visitors really overcomplicate matters IMO and make it more difficult. Remember that we will all be here to chat to when it gets to that stage and there are loads of bfing experts on MN.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/04/2011 18:51

Nomoreheels - you are not alone in the grumpypants stakes!! Would very much like to go to sleep and wake up in 9 weeks with a snuggly newborn nursing in my arms Smile

Nurse - your bump truly is a work of art Grin

Savannah - I understand where you are coming from, I was in 1st stage of labour for about 2 days and then it all went into overdrive, apart from half a dose of dihydromorphine, I had no pain relief (couldn't get the G&A to work!!), and now am feeling worried because I know it is going to be painful! If you haven't already do discuss how you are feeling with your MW, she will have heard it before. Lots of people have said that 2nd and subsequent labours do progress faster.

Jasmine - I'm with your DH, pethidine and opiates make you sleepy and will also make baby sleepy - it can hinder breastfeeding as baby may be to sleepy to feed. The half dose I had was about 12 hours before I gave birth so most of it would have gone out of my system, but it did allow me to get a couple of hours sleep. His job sounds fascinating, btw!!

Mummynumber2 - we look forward to seeing your wedding pics!!

Am down at my mum's ds was clamouring to watch cbeebies iplayer earlier hence quick post earlier, he is having a bath supervised by Nanny atm :)

jasmine51 · 02/04/2011 19:39

I just met a baby who was born in a car!

NurseSunshine · 02/04/2011 20:09

How did s/he feel about it Jasmine?

Kara, thank you, I am very artistic, it's true. Hopefully my child will inherit my talent Grin

Sasa that sounds rotten :( Try to keep your feet elevated, might help the swelling go down. And stick some frozen peas on 'em. I feel like I might have swollen ankles but frankly, I think they're just fatter.

Confessions I'm with you on feeling uncomfortable in bed. And I am now waking up up to THREE time in the middle of the night for a wee. It's horrible.

Supersunny I've got 2 more weeks to go. Cannot WAIT! I've heard The Food of Love is good so am going to get it I think.

Now, where on earth is MN2 to update us about her wedding day?? She's not going to make us wait is she? How terribly inconsiderate of her Grin

sasamaxx · 02/04/2011 20:41

Thanks Nurse will do that - they are probably fatter too, but def swollen as well Wink. I'm also up about twice during the night for the toilet. Some days, if the baby is putting pressure on the bladder, I need to go about 3 times an hour - it's ridiculous.

Where on earth is mummyno2 - doesn't she realise that updating us is far more important than entertaining her guests and getting lovey dovey with her new husband? Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/04/2011 20:45

Nurse - I have the Food of Love, I can defintely recommend it!

sasamaxx · 02/04/2011 20:47

Barbie that book looks fab - I've never seen it before but really like it Smile

sasamaxx · 02/04/2011 20:48

NOT Barbie - I meant Nurse Blush

sasamaxx · 02/04/2011 20:56

Kara I really like the look of that book - is it worth getting? Even by wierdos like me who bf toddlers?
Really thinking of getting it for a friend too, who is having a baby any day now - is that putting pressure on her? I am rubbish at etiquette.

Clarkiee · 02/04/2011 20:57

Went to the thearte matinee performance of 'Buddy' (bday pressie for DH) in Manchester. Babies were going crazy in my tum Grin. Irrelevant info alert- was sat next to Sean Wilson aka Martin Platt from Corrie.

supersunny read that a massage can relieve swollen feet (DH hasn't offered yet Hmm). Sorry you are suffering too sasa and nomore. Don't think mine are that bad yet but I was having a moan cause it was a new unwanted sympton. Jasmine I've had a 'dead hand' a few times not sure what causes it but sounds like you've had similar. Good excuse to put my feet up Grin.

confessions sorry to hear about your bad nights sleep! How annoying having to wee all night nurse and sasa happy to say I've not had that problem (yet). Had a crap nights sleep though cause I was sooo hot!

Ah thinking about mn2 having a fab night Smile and moomin cuddling her baby Smile
