Notoast You're on - just waiting for confirmation re what she wants me to do with the stuff. She might want it back of course. Very jealous though - loads of good stuff in there.

Builders builders everywhere and not a loo that works. They are digging up drains and have all the manhole covers up...shall I pour something weird down the loo just to freak them out...

Joannezipan · 01/04/2011 13:29

Jas Do it! Lime juice would be very green. I'd love to see their faces.
mummy good luck for tomorrow, I hope you have your house back together.
Jer79 I haven't felt that, but last night the babbit did such a big movement it woke me up! I'm thinking he/she/it turned over...hopefully it isn't breach anymore. We'll find out at the scan next friday!
I think this afternoon i'm going to make a tea loaf and then i'm going to make cushion covers for the baby's room. I know it will be a long time before thay can use them, but they will be pretty. I also have curtains to shorten. So sewing this afternoon it is :o I could get used to not working - not too used to it though!

jasmine51 · 01/04/2011 13:58

joanne I was thinking more of a tin of vegetable soup but thats just being disgusting isnt it?

Whoop, good news for me in the hopefully not having another baby at 4cm dilated stakes, had another midwife appointment this morning and the daily aspirin I'm taking to try to keep my blood pressure low seems to be working as it was 106/58 which is the lowest it's ever been. I'm usually around the 165/95 mark, and thats before I get really hypertensive, it has been much higher on occasion so this is a possibility that I wont need to be induced this time and can labour unmonitored for as long as I want. This makes me a bit less scared of labour than I was this morning

jasmine51 · 01/04/2011 14:03

crumble wow thats a mahoosive difference! Are you still alive at 165/95? Good news if those readings stick, just stay away from pressure raisers...like DHs!

8rubberduckies · 01/04/2011 14:24

Good news crumble I will also be avoiding being induced like the plague this time around. I felt a bit pushed into it by my midwife last time. I was only induced because I was over my due date by 10 days, she kind of inferred it was "the done thing" and that not many women choose to not be induced if they are late. Luckily I am with different midwives this time who are being fully supportive of my decision to hang on and see what happens if this one is late.

Jasmine DP is away tonight, so I am already planning my Friday night treat... a homemade Florentina pizza with a beer in front of the TV .... numnumnum!

nomoreheels · 01/04/2011 15:19

Hi everyone, hope you're all well today. I have felt completely shattered the last couple of days, even falling back asleep this morning for a bit after having coffee with DP.

Saw the midwife just now, bump measured 30 cms which is right in the middle of the scale in my green book for 31 weeks. Seems she's had a growth spurt so maybe that's why I'm so tired!

Fooood. I can't stop eating mullerice original with fresh strawberries on top. It's becoming a bit of an obsession (esp as they're on offer at 25p a pot at asda!) I also discovered Koppaberg non-alcoholic pear cider there today so have grabbed a bottle to have something more interesting to sip on at home with Friday night telly.

Tiny I know what you mean - a meal when you're knackered and can't enjoy the good wine cellar doesn't quite feel like a treat, does it? I'd be more inclined to ask for a nice daytime shopping treat to pick up things that will make you happy and comfortable. Like really lovely soft pyjamas/dressing gown, perfume, beauty products, a bit of makeup, scented candles.

And a very happy wedding day to MN2! Grin

Oh yeah, I asked in pregnancy but haven't had any responses yet - if anyone can recommend a good baby sign language book, let me know. DP wants one and I'm trying to sort it for his birthday next Thursday, but there's so much choice on Amazon that I don't know which one is best.

sasamaxx · 01/04/2011 15:20

rubberduckies and crumble - I'l be trying my absolute best not to be induced as well. I was induced 1st time with the drip (and ARM) and also went from 3cm-10cm in one hour (had been in latent labour for 3 days already). It was pretty intense. The good news is that last time I went 4 days early Grin after 3 days of latent labour. I'm going to get onto the raspberry leaf capsules as soon as I can.

Jasmine - I've not needed an epidural before - it's not the be all and end all. Are you allowed opiates? We don't get pethidine up here - we get the real stuff - proper heroin (diamorphine) - it can really help if you're struggling mood-wise and got me through DD's face to pubis delivery (back to back but they don't turn and are born in the posterior position)

BarbieLovesKen · 01/04/2011 15:48

Oooh another one that doesnt want induction!!. I was induced with dd1, like 8, because she was 10 days "late", I was young and I just accepted it really. It wasnt too bad though as I had epidural so I was fine (although a lot of stitches)

With ds I went into labour at home (actually with my waters just breaking in bed at 1am) but was meconium in the waters so had to have synto drip to speed things along (or may have had to have cs), I think I would have been fine if not for the drip again to be honest as when I took it out (yes, I did Grin), I could cope perfectly. It just makes everything so intense and more difficult imo. I also didnt have any pain relief at all (but not by choice)(hate gas and air, just makes me vomit), and I think synto drip + no pain relief = torture.

Actually, Im pretty confident that if I had to be induced for whatever reason again I'd be fine once I can have pain relief. (Midwife did ask if I wanted a panadol just before I began to push ds out - I told her to fuck off Blush Grin).

Alternatively, if I dont have to be induced I think I'd be fine without pain relief as I've been told by much more experienced mothers than I, who have experienced both (non induction v induction) that if you can manage an induced labour, you'll breeze through a "normal" one.

jasmine51 · 01/04/2011 16:41

sasa I'm not sure about the opiates thing. I know DH is dead set against pethidine (hes a paramedic) but I'm not sure whether that is medically based or some weird principle. We have a cabinet full of diamorphine here and he's always refering to it as 'horrible stuff'. I'm sure I'll get a chance to quiz the consultant further at 36 weeks since I'm beginning to form intelligent (?) views on the birth and not just half arsed ideas now.

Builders have gone for the day......I'm off to use the loo...yay

NurseSunshine · 01/04/2011 16:50

jasmine do ask your DH why he's against it. Opiates affect different people very differently, some people love them, others get sick and disoriented and react very badly.
If you're considering opiates, as with any drug, do look into the possible effects, both on you and on the baby, it's a pretty serious drug so you need to be making an informed choice. Have fun on the loo Grin Why do you have a cabinet full of diamorphine btw?!

jasmine51 · 01/04/2011 17:05

Nurse ha ha, that made you sit up!...no sinister reasons! We have alot of controlled drugs here because DH is a freelance paramedic - not many people realise these exist but they do and are fully licensed in the normal way. He supplies full paramedic services to the film industry, for stunt men in particular and for expeditions to more extreme places. He and his colleagues have worked at both poles for example and one is currently running A&E on the Falklands. He teaches at Nottingham University sometimes and as you know, he is currently in Iraq managing the medical training teams out there, making sure the correct protocols are followed and training the trainers with the latest equipment. The drugs here are licensed by the Department of Health I think - anyway, someone in a grey suit comes here every now and again to check on our stock and security. Wow, I've impressed myself rattling that off...does it sound like I know what I'm talking about?

BarbieLovesKen · 01/04/2011 17:09

Damn it. I have just realised I've been in work all day long with my top on back to front Blush

sasamaxx · 01/04/2011 17:15

lol Barbie
Cool DH job Jasmine
Of course it's a personal choice and lots of people have strong opinions both ways on all kinds of pain relief Smile
It's also very difficult to plan for a labour as you've no idea what way it's going to go, or how well you will cope.

jasmine51 · 01/04/2011 17:19

sasa what you mean it might not go as I'm planning it? Grin

Oh Barbie !

Joannezipan · 01/04/2011 17:22

I have no idea how to plan anything anyway! I must admit I haven't done anything about birth planning...but then I have prepared for a baby in 5 weeks so I guess I have time!

NurseSunshine · 01/04/2011 17:26

Grin Barbie

Wow that's amazing Jasmine, I had no idea there was such a thing as freelance paramedics!

Jer79 · 01/04/2011 18:01

Barbie Funniest thing I've heard all day. Good to know I'm not the only one capable of this stuff.

Moomin You are amazing. I'm so happy for you that it's all working so well for you and Florence, it can't be easy but sounds so loving and gorgeous when you talk about holding her and feeding her and how well she is doing.

Jasmine Missed you today in Summertown. That sounds like a very cool job!

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 01/04/2011 19:23

MN2 your wedding sounds lovely, but there was one thing not on your list. Do you have someone (registrar or priest type person) to marry you and DP/H? Excited for you though.

Haven't been online all day and am now wading my way through the days postings, but as I'm waiting for dinner to cook and I'm starving, I'll have to come back later.

(soup down the drain makes me think of Mr Creosote Grin)

AlmightyCitrus · 01/04/2011 22:45

Good luck for tomorrow mummu Smile

AlmightyCitrus · 01/04/2011 22:46

mummy tut!!

DaisyFields · 02/04/2011 02:56

Happy wedding day mummynumber2, lots of love and luck to you and your DH2B.

Lots to say to everyone, a pic to upload and dying to reply to knackered but need my laptop, so this little check-in will have to suffice for now!

Mummynumber2 · 02/04/2011 06:13

Good morning everyone. Thanks for all the wedding well wishes! Don't worry confessions the register office and registrar are booked, it's the kind of thing I would forget though Grin. Had a very stressful day yesterday trying to get everything ready but today should go smoothly.

What were you doing up at 3am daisyfields?

jasmine51 · 02/04/2011 08:53

mummy all the best for a fab day - very excited for you, make sure you get treated like a princess all day!

Yeah daisy are you somewhere outside the UK or are you just suffering from the 3am munchies?

Builders have just disconnected my drains...must remember not to flush the loo, I dont think the guy on the other end of the pipe would appreciate it...

sasamaxx · 02/04/2011 09:34

Good luck today mummy - have a fab time!! Grin
