Tokyo really sorry to hear your bad news :(

I definitely want to find out the sex, DH wasn't sure but was OK to when I said I wanted to. I just hope they can work it out at 19 week scan - the midwife doing the 12 week scan said they tell us then if it was obvious, but they wouldn't spend long trying to work it out?

Can anyone suggest where I can get decent maternity clothes? - I'm overweight and short which seems to be a bad combination! I'm 5 foot, and size 20/22.

Rehune Really glad to hear all OK after the crash, must have been scary.

Yay to all those who have had scans :)

daisyair and others talking about folic acid - I am still taking pregnacare at the moment, was thinking of stopping when 13 weeks, but not sure as it has lots of other vitamins in as well as the folic acid - am not eating very healthily because of all day nausea, so I think I may keep taking it until I next see midwife and can ask.

KT It does sound like your work is being evil about it, surely you aren't the first woman there to have a baby? I hope you can sort things out, a word with HR about discrimination could be a good idea?

bunnyfrance Hope the op went well, waiting to hear from you on Tuesday!

wheresmytractor Glad things going well with DH. Am impressed with your DS - wonder if he is psychic and it is his little sister?!

LifeofKate I am quite overemotional, bursting into tears over magazine articles and things which I wouldn't usually, and at One Born Every Minute too!

Yukana Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, and bad news re the benefit. Hope you are feeling better today.

KLou I'm the same with the sleeping, as I always sleep on my back, though I didn't think I needed to worry about it this early on. I have been trying to sleep on my side to practice for later when the bump is bigger, but either roll back over or sleep on my arms and wake up with pins and needles. I'm thinking of getting one of these, www.amazon.co.uk/DreamGenii-Maternity-Support-Pillow/dp/B000UTPIW6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297021906&sr=8-1 but it's expensive! And I don't know if it'll work...

off to a conference in London tomorrow/Tuesday, which would usually be a fun break from work, but I booked it before I knew I was pg - I'm going to be knackered!

KTisPG · 06/02/2011 19:55

I know it's dreadful - I feel so sorry for her Sad

OP posts:
MrsChemist · 06/02/2011 20:27

KLou I found that after a certain time, that I was too uncomfy to sleep on my back anyway.
Recently, I've been falling asleep curled up and waking up flat on my back, without my pillow. It's doing my back in, so I hope it stops soon.

LifeOfKate · 06/02/2011 20:40

Oh, x-posted with nickster about Amanda Holden, it really is awful :(

Bryher - I have that pillow from my first pregnancy and have already started using it again this time. It is brilliant, although I agree it is expensive, DH actually bought it for my birthday present, so it wasn't just random money IYSWIM. I actually use it the 'wrong' way round to the pictures, with the 'little' pillow part underneath my tummy (can't quite describe it as a bump yet!) and the long part behind my back and through my legs from behind. Sooo comfortable :) I do know some people don't get on with it though, so don't want to recommend it as such! Also, I don't rate it as a breastfeeding pillow, it was just a bit too complicated for my sleep deprived brain!

SelinaDoula · 06/02/2011 23:50

So sad for Amanda Holden.

I'm rubbish at taking my vitamins!
Think I have decided not to find out the sex and t ait till the birth. DD wants to know but I think its better to wait!
I'm still sleeping on my tummy but prop one leg up on a pillow, bump still seems wquite small!

Cadmum · 07/02/2011 04:54

I am nearly 14 weeks but started spotting on Friday and properly bleeding on Saturday. I have a scan booked for tomorrow.
I have had so many missed miscarriages that I was initially just hoping to miscarry naturally so I could avoid medical intervention. I am now wondering if it isn't the start of a miscarriage? I still feel pg. The bleeding slows if I lie down and stopped completely through the night. I have no cramps and am not passing large clots or anything.

This whole pregnancy lark is very stressful no matter how many times I go down this road...

impatient1 · 07/02/2011 06:01

Hi cadmum , I have been bleeding on and off for a fortnight now, A scan showed It's a haematoma, and baby appears to be utterly unconcerned by it all. I'm 14 weeks too.... Maybe its the same thing? FX for you x

Rozeeglow · 07/02/2011 07:21

Lovely shiny new thread! I'll try and keep up with this one Grin

KTisPG · 07/02/2011 08:14

Keeping everything crossed for you Cadmum

OP posts:
Firawla · 07/02/2011 08:36

Cadmum i really hope everything will be okay for you

MrsStevo · 07/02/2011 08:50

Big fat FX for you cadmum, will be thinking of you. Are you able to rest until tomorrow? That's what the mw recommended to me when I had a bleed.

LifeOfKate · 07/02/2011 09:02

Hope everything's ok, Cadmum. Was your 12 week scan ok? Thinking of you xx

Cadmum · 07/02/2011 09:16

I opted not to have the nuchal scan because it involved a flight to Bangkok...
Dating/early scan at 10 weeks was great.
I have been in bed or on the couch all day. Bleeding has slowed to spotting. Maybe I should have tried bed rest over the weekend? I just felt certain that it was the start of an inevitable miscarriage. Hopefully not. Thanks for the support. I will report back tomorrow.

sisterT · 07/02/2011 09:52

Will keep everything crossed for you, Cadmum. Sending love & hugs.

RugbyWidow7 · 07/02/2011 10:18

Cadbmum I really feel for you, it's so stressful. I had bleeding and was admitted to hospital at 5.5 weeks, but all turned out to be ok. Fingers so tightly crossed for you.
Please let us know how you get on tomorrow.

The Amanda Holden news really knocked me for six yesterday, poor lady. It's so sad.

I can't get to sleep unless I fall asleep on my stomach, so am a bit worried about how I'll find sleeping in later pregnancy.

12 Week scan tomorrow. Everything crossed. I told my closest friend yesterday (as she has been away for weeks) and it was so great to get a really excited, positive reaction from her as she's in a very different place in her life to me, so I wasn't sure what her reaction would be. It's made it all even more exciting. Can't wait to tell everyone else!

Quick question: I have been eating quite a lot of ham, which I thought to be ok as it is previously cooked. I've looked it up and there seem to be conflicting views on it. Anyone know any more?

(Sorry for long post)

nickstermum · 07/02/2011 10:44

cadmum so sorry you have this extra worry especially given your history. Many women bleed buckets and have been fine... I really do hope its to do with placenta or just an unexplained bleed and that the baby is fine :) FX and everything crossed for you xxxx Good sign if you still have symptoms btw....!

&rugby* ive been eating lots of ham too. It is said that cured meats are not good but i have just stayed away from pepperoni and parma ham etc... and stayed with normal ham.

I dont think i want to know either... DH does though. But i think he can only find out if i say he can... isnt that the case?!?! Mmm should i start WW3 or not?!?! Grin I really dont care this time.. found out last time and it was great, but i am so unconcerned with the sex this time dont think will bother :) "as long as its healthy"

Re the pillow thing, i have one of those full length maternity pillows from mothercare (i call it the third person..so big is like another person in the bed!!) and last pg it was fab, and this one its not doing the trick so much...may have to invest!! Grin

neverlookback · 07/02/2011 10:46

fingers crossed for you cadmum xxx

Im thinking of getting a dreamgeni pillow soon has anyone else ever had one as they are quite pricey but my spd is already starting to show signs of returning and i remember being in bed was one of the worst times for it.

Am thinking of having a 3d/4d scan too so that dc's can come and see too, my 5yo dd is really quite excited and i think she would love it and as this is going to be my last dc ive said im gonna try and do all the things i didnt do in the other pg.

as for the ham thing rugby i thought it was fine, i have always eaten it through pg??

Good luck for everyone who has scans this week, i hardly got to see lil baba at mine and the woman was a bit rubbish in my opinion!!! they also gave me a leaflet about being overweight as my bmi is 27! it says ton only aim for putting on 6kg which isnt very much, my ds weighed 4620kg so theres no chance!! im sure ill put at least 3 stone on!! but ive done it twice and lost most of it quite quickly so im trying not to panic!!
