So sorry Cadmum. Rubbish. Sending all love to you :(

Have now only 5 days to scan.. 13wks tmoz. Still crapping it about the whole thing! But backache-check; headaches-check; funny localised pains on left or right when I stretch or sneeze-check. Would guess it's all pretty normal.

Am now poking (v small) bump in hope I might get some sort of movement feeling! Altho am convinced I felt something the two times this week I've been listening to the Foo Fighters really loud :) baby's going to have to like music in our house!

Good luck for scans this week! Xx

bettyboo83 · 08/02/2011 23:07

Hello everyone, I've been getting the stabby pains when I get up/sneeze/etc too but am told they are perfectly normal so trying not to fret.

I've just been to the cinema with my mum to see 'Black Swan' and am really wishing I hadn't! It was gruesome and scary! I'm definitely more of a rom-com girl Smile

I gave in yesterday and bought some maternity jeans from New Look because my normal jeans are too uncomfortable by evening; but they make me look like a whale so not worn them yet Hmm Is anyone else struggling with clothes at the mo? I seem to just look fat rather that pregnant Sad

Bryher · 08/02/2011 23:08

Cadmum :( so sorry to hear your news. Hope you are being looked after :(

KTisPG · 09/02/2011 08:20

bettyboo I was saying that to DH just last night - I've been in maternity clothes for weeks now but I don't look pg just fat. So annoying. I want a nice round obviously pg bump and I want it now!!

KT:
I've also been in baggy/maternity clothes for weeks, but I've got a significant bump. Although I'm looking forward to it getting bigger!

MrsV:
I can ask my midwife, but considering I had a UTI in late October last year though I don't think the symptoms are the same. I don't think I drink enough, sometimes I don't get anywhere near 1.5L water a day! I find it quite difficult to drink a lot.

I'm glad you received good news. Congrats on the wriggling bean!

RugbyWidow7 · 09/02/2011 08:35

I'm definitely struggling with clothes. As you say, jeans are really uncomfortable by the evening, so I bought a bump band but that seems way to big and just crumples down. Still going on the swimming costume drama - I've already sent one back as my friend laughed as it was uttlerly hideous (pregnancy brain choice I think). Have ordered another but I think it's just going to hang around the waist where the enlarged bit is.

I know what you mean about looking fat KtisPG as I feel like unless I can squeeze into my normal jeans etc, I just look like a whale. Case in point, I bought some cheapo combats for around the house from M&S and I look like an ogre in them.

Oh well, I love being pregnant so mustn't grumble. Just looking forward to having a fully fledged bump!

SelinaDoula · 09/02/2011 09:19

Sorry to hear your news Cadmum.

I don't have a very obvious bimp but have used a belly band for a few weeks yet.
Was in Amsterdam for a couple of days and baby either loved or hated flying as it was kicking me loads on the flight!
I bf my DD for 14months and will bf this one too.
IMO type of birth makes a big differene to chances of successful bf (with pain killers that cross the placenta effecting babies breastfeeding behaviour for the first few days)
But also having an undisturbed first hour or two after birth(unless necessary for resusitation etc). Some research shows babies and primed to know how to feed in the first or or so, if that time is disturbed (by washing, dressing, weighing, checking baby etc) this can disturb that first feed and make it less likely baby will uccessfully bf.
S x

KTisPG · 09/02/2011 10:06

I agree Selina There is also some evidence (can't remember source now) that seems to suggest epidurals can also have an impact on breastfeeding. The more I learn about it, the more facinating BF is! I must confess it is one of my passions - I had such a hideous time first time round that it really affected my maternity leave, so please poke me if I start ranting Wink. What annoys me the most is that so many discussions about BF on MN turn into such bunfights. We should all respect everyone's decisions on how to feed their babies. The tragedy for me is those mums (about 80% I think) who start bf (so presumably want to) but stop relatively quickly (within the first 6 weeks). Now some of them probably dont like it which is fair enough, but I think the vast majority don't get enough support

Very jealous of your bumps Envy
I WANT ONE!!!! I was so happy on Monday that I had finally gained 1lb, I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow. Had to ask my mum if I was normal lol. She said just you wait, you'll be wishing you only put 1lb on!
I am 5'9", 11st7lbs, so normal for my height and build (big boned, small waist, big bum! Pear shape I think is the polite term!), but didn't stop me worrying!! You watch, I'll put on loads now!

Annie456 · 09/02/2011 11:38

Im jealous of your 1lb klou! I'm 5'9 too and was 10st 5 before I was pregnant...now creeping towards 11st!
11 weeks today and already can't do up my jeans-if it wasn't for my 8 week scan I would think i was carrying a litter! 9 sleeps til scan...

Teladi · 09/02/2011 11:39

I have a little bump if you look closely, but I mainly just look like I've been at the pies. Hmm I bought a few vest tops from Primark which are quite long, and I wear those tucked into my pants, with my 'fat' jeans over the top and my longer tops. If everything is OK with my scan tomorrow I am going to buy some maternity tops because I have difficulties getting tops long enough normally and so they are not working with my stomach. I think it's a bit early for maternity trousers though, I'd just look silly.

I am also planning to bf, I really really want it to work out. Apart from anything else, I am really quite lazy and formula sounds like a faff compared to getting a boob out, especially in the middle of the night!! :o

KLou111 · 09/02/2011 11:48

LMAO Teladi never thought of it like that, but soooo very true, couldn't be arsed with the faff either!

neverlookback · 09/02/2011 11:51

hi everyone, i have just bought first litte baby gro and vest set for baby even though i have everything from the other 2 its nice to buy a few new things isnt it. I have had a headache for the last 24 hours despite taking 2 lots of paracetamol and i had a nap in the afternoon yesterday, but within an hour of waking its back again, i did get a lot of headaches in the first few weeks then they tailed off but now its come back think im going to go to the doctor tomorrow if its no better, anyone else suffering with headaches? I do get migraines too but only had 1 since finding out i was pg. x

LadyGoneGaga · 09/02/2011 12:43

I'm 16 weeks now and have a definite bump. Although think this is because will be my second. Have been in maternity jeans and leggings for weeks. And have gone up from about 10 and a half to 11 and a half stone (and 5'8") - going to pack away a lot of "normal" clothes soon I think as most of my stuff no longer fits Sad.

I let myself buy a couple of new babygrows after 12 week scan - as neverlookback says, have most stuff from last time but want he/she to have their own little going home outfit!

nickstermum · 09/02/2011 12:54

Have had a brown wet bleed in the night, smelt of amniotic fluid :(

been to a&e they cant scan me til fri, private also fully booked.

bed resting atm and hoping everythings ok

going to pester gp to see if i can get somewhere else.

Bleed stopped, clear now. tender tummy and anxious mummy

LadyGoneGaga · 09/02/2011 13:00

What? That's crazy, Nix. Have you tried EPU? Or you could even try ringing labour ward. I think they should try and establish what it is as if waters you need to be monitored.

nickstermum · 09/02/2011 13:04

thanks G, thought i had posted this on charters grads...! Doh not thinking straight.

Ringing GP when i have eaten... and then MW!

xx

Rozeeglow · 09/02/2011 13:09

Hope everything is ok Nix [worried face]

MrsStevo · 09/02/2011 13:15

Thinking of you nix. I second Rozeeglow's worried face. Don't take no for an answer!! FX for you x x

littlemisslozza · 09/02/2011 13:18

Hope everything is ok nickstermum and that you get seen soon.

Re clothing - the handy thing about already having had two is that I have jeans from the 'postnatal few months' before I lost the last of the baby weight. Just a size bigger and teamed with loose-ish tops I still look normal (for now!). Maternity clothes seem to be huge on me until about 20 weeks+, then too small for the last couple of weeks!

MrsStevo · 09/02/2011 13:23

I too just look fat at the moment! People keep saying 'ooooh, you're getting a bump' but i'm NOT! It is deffo fat - it is far too high to be a bump and it is all squishy. Can't WAIT for bump to appear though and to start feeling them wriggling! Clothes-wise, I got some mamas & papas mat jeans on ebay for £12 - they are too big for now but very comfy. In the meantime, I'm living in jogging bottoms and hoodies at home and my normal work trousers with the button undone and long tops for work.

How's everyone doing with food at the moment? I'm 12w1d now and still don't really fancy eating much. The only food I can stomach is fairly junky and the only two foods I really want are boursin on white baguette bread and roasted nut tracker bars!! Crazy really. So glad that there is no law about eating peanuts these days, trackers are about 20% peanut!

RugbyWidow7 · 09/02/2011 13:58

nix please keep us posted. Fingers crossed it has stopped for good! Good luck with getting your scan pushed forward.

Teladi · 09/02/2011 14:08

nickstermum thinking of you!

MrsStevo I can relate. We're at the same stage, I am 12+3. I said on here a few weeks ago I had got over the sicky stage, I was being overly optimistic, as I am still throwing up. And I'm not into food at all.

Last night DH took me to Pizza Hut, because I really wanted to go for some reason. I really enjoyed my pizza, which was an amazing experience because my stomach has been either vehemently opposed to some foods or entirely not bothered about the others. Anything healthy like green veg just does not appeal in the first place, and if I do eat it, comes straight back up. My diet is normally okay to good, and I like vegetables and I don't eat junk normally, so I feel bad about it but I feel like this is a stage I'll come through and I can eat better when I've stopped being sick.

I also like Tracker bars. Grin

Anu3 · 09/02/2011 14:37

Hi All,

As some of you may remember I was very concerned last Friday about the brownish discharge I had spotted a few times when I went to the toilet - I had called my mid wife immediately after and she had said it was nothing to worry (but of course I was worried anyways!). I went in for another scan yesterday and so relieved to see all was well and little baby jumping around :o Best sight ever! I?m 14w 4 days today!

I?ve seen a lot of posts where you are talking about cramps and aches esp. when moving or coughing. I had / have the same and my mid wife told me it was very common at the beginning of the second trimester and called the 'round ligament pain? also called growing pains. The round ligaments surround your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause pain on one or both sides of your abdomen - so nothing to worry about!

Also its been a week for me since the nausea has stopped and im feeling great! Im keeping my fingers crossed this is lasts!

littlemisslozza · 09/02/2011 15:04

Glad to hear all is well Anu.

Lots of growing pains here too, on and off.

Totally addicted to Tracker bars as well - but the ones with chocolate chips in of course! Wink
